Whiskey drinker male here for far too long - so here are my two cents.

1. Decanters are really kind of pointless. They can look cool but meh.
   
   
2. Whiskey stones suck. I bought them and were really disappointed. Get these things. They fucking ROCK. (No pun intended.)
   
3. This guy is basically THE voice on Whiskey. Great read. Unfortunately he has passed away but good guide for the future.
   
4. For glassware I have kind of been interested in these just because they look awesome. I personally own these and they also get some great comments. I've personally never really found a shape that changes the taste so I just wanted something a little more flashy.
   
5. I'm turning 30 this year and I bought myself a 21 year old bottle of bourbon and am getting it laser engraved. Things Remembered will do anything really so if you know what he likes (or just as an add in, doesn't have to be crazy expensive) maybe an engraved bottle.

This is my item. Not quite $50, but I love it.

My brother went into the army 4 years ago, too. He did all the training, went to Iraq and whatnot, but whenever he gets leave, we always spend his first night home drinking like we're fancy. =] These glasses would be a perfect addition to make the night just that much fancier.

Currently four high ball glasses are priority #1 though I'll likely end up with some extra stuff.

I hear you, and it's a fair point. These are pretty basic. Add some pattern to it and I find it interesting/unique.

I also saw some interesting Nick & Nora glasses where the bowl part connects to the stem with kind of a claw shape. That was pretty interesting to me. Stuff like that. Silly frilly stuff that a bar wouldn't use but you might ask a friend where they got them.

1. V8 is not tomato juice, it's vegetable juice. Plain old tomato juice is preferable. Or even Clamato for Bloody Caesars.
   
   
2. You could add a piece of horseradish and a small microplane, and maybe a little bottle of Worcestershire sauce.
   
   
3. Some lemons would be nice too, and some kosher or celery salt to rim the glass. Oh! Or some super-easy preserved lemons.
   
   
4. Skip the Siracha. Besides being clichéd, it's also very garlicky, and while garlic is delicious, it overpowers other subtler flavors in a delicious Bloody Mary.
   
   
5. Might be tricky to stay under $20, but some highball glasses, a simple glass pitcher and a bar spoon would also be good additions.

Dude every one of them is labeled "juice glasses". That's why I picked them. I take that back, I guess the 17 oz was a "cooler glass" but that's the only one not labeled "juice glass." I typed juice glass into google and this was one that came up.
