What your parents are doing to you is wrong. This is medical neglect at the very least. But since I don't know the particulars about the law where you live, I will only offer advice for coping until you can move out.

Does anyone else change your bedding and do you have any cash of your own? If no one else messes with your bed and you have some cash, I suggest sneaking in an allergen-blocking mattress cover. Wear a dust mask, vacuum the mattress as much as possible, and put the cover on, it should help.

For the chair, try using a clean towel or throwing a large t-shirt over it to wick away the moisture.

No, a mattress pad before the memory foam craze meant like a mattress protector, like another cotton, sometimes lightly padded fitted sheet that is sometimes waterproof / water resistant which keeps your sweat and body oils from leeching into the mattress. ex https://www.amazon.com/-Mattress-Protector/dp/B003PWS9AI/

I had them in Philadelphia. Here's how I got rid of 'em. Fair warning, you are in for the fight of your life.

You have to be vigilant and dedicated and consistent in order for this to work, but its chemical free and doesn't need a professional. Probably will cost you a little under $200 total.

I ordered bed bug proof mattress and boxspring bags from Amazon (check out the "frequently bought together" deal here) and did ALL the laundry (including the drapes/curtains/etc) on super duper high heat to kill the eggs.

I then put the the bed on risers and cleared out all the storage tubs from underneath. This way, the bugs can only come up from the legs of the bed or drop down from the ceiling. Which they will. Fuckers.

I then took double sided tape and put two separate bands around each leg. This way, when you find bugs on the tape you can tell if they are coming from the floor up, or the bed down.

Put double sided tape around your window sills and electrical outlets. They crawl out of there too. Fuckers.

Then get a carpet steamer or vacuum with decent suckage and vacuum everything to suck up as many eggs as possible.

I also bought 5 lbs of Diatomaceous Earth and put it all over the floor, windowsills, under the bed...everywhere. This kills the bedbugs and can wreck their eggs.

The problem with gases and even professional chemicals, is those stupid bugs will just run away into the walls or other apartments and just come back later. Your only prayer is to make it extremely difficult for them to get to you. Apartment buildings in cities like this are the absolute WORST. Please save your money and health and try this method first. Good luck. You will need it.

We have a waterproof mattress pad on our bed. It's got fabric around it so it doesn't rustle and crinkle like plastic, and the top layer absorbs liquids so it doesn't spread around like it would if the top layer were plastic.

We have it to keep our mattress free of pet accidents (my dog's a cancer survivor and has some issues from it) but it's the best 45 bucks I've spent. It's similar to this one, it might actually be the same one.

I purchased this for the very reason you mention! It works great. No plasticy feel or noise, but totally protects the mattress.

Have fun!

everybody always says towels but honestly i hate using towels. they don't really prevent the mattress from getting wet and they get heavy when soaked. when i first started squirting i used a waterproof crib mattress pad. that one is pricey, imho. i just paid like, 5 bucks for two at walmart. they worked really well for solo times but very poorly for partner times. i will say...uh...i outgrew the crib pads so to speak. they eventually couldn't handle my volume or um...spray pattern even during solo times. for partner times, these fascinator throws work AMAZINGLY well. i put mine down, go to town and when we're done i just move it off the bed and spend afterglow on a dry bed. the throw works really well solo times as well. they are pricey, which is why i sewed my own. i think if you can't d.i.y. one the price will be worth the peace of mind, honestly. and lastly, i will say that if you do not have a waterproof mattress cover, get one ASAP. do not pass go, do not collect $200. get thee a mattress cover. it protects the mattress from any spontaneous solo action or partner action or when the crib pad or throw is dirty and also from...overspray. as far as partner opinions, i recently had a partner who was shocked and turned off by the fact that i squirt and am multi-orgasmic. i gave him a heads up about both before we got down to brass tacks, but i don't think he was prepared for the truth of my words. that's fine--he gets to have his opinion and i'm glad we found out early on. other guys i've been with feel like they've found the holy grail. one man's holy grail is another man's "ewww". just be you.

Might be a little late, but this bamboo mattress cover is MAGICAL. We have been through accidents with our dogs while adjusting to a move and with my SO after he took on the challenge of drinking four 40s in a night. Not a single drop on our foam mattress. Might help to at least ease your mind about your furniture/mattress while you try to address the behavioral issues.

u/MsStardust · 8 pointsr/Pets

Many cats develop behavioral problems, especially litter box issues, when exposed to stressful situations. Obviously the cats' owners need to step up and take responsibly for their pets. That being said, here are some things you can suggest:

  • Ensure that their litter boxes are located a low traffic area and kept clean (scoop at least once a day).

  • Ensure that the cats have enough litter boxes. The general rule of thumb is one box for each cat plus one extra.

  • Provide a scratching post or scratching pad. The corrugated cardboard pads are cheap and cats love them.

  • Provide toys for them to play with instead of shoes. (Note: they are then likely to play with the toys IN your shoes, so better to just put them away.)

  • Clean anything that had cat pee on it with an enzyme cleaner such as Nature's Miracle. Even after you clean it up, the cats will still be able to smell it and may be more likely to pee there again. If you replace your mattress but then use the same sheets/comforter that they previously peed on, this could be a problem.

  • Even if you are now keeping your bedroom door closed, I recommend that you get a waterproof mattress protector. You never know when a cat might sneak in there, and it could save you a lot of money. I have one of these on each bed in my house, and no one (not me, not my husband, nor any of our frequent guests) ever notice it.

  • If the cats are bothering your allergies, I suggest trying Zyrtec (or its generic equivalent). It helps a lot of people with pet allergies (myself included).

    Good luck!

    Edited: forgot a )

Edit #2: Just saw your username, and would now like to repeat my recommendation to buy a mattress protector.

u/imnotgrownupyet · 7 pointsr/BDSMcommunity

I have this waterproof mattress protector and it's great! I just leave it on under my sheets until I do any watersports and then I'll wash it with my sheets. I never have to think about it or plan ahead, and you can hardly tell it's there! No leaks so far, it stays centered on the mattress well.

Also make sure you have mattress covers, sticky traps to monitor if any are there and possibly elevate your beds and move them away from the walls.

The interceptors helped us not get bitten and basically trapped them so we could show the landlord. I wouldn’t trust them 100% to work though.

Get a dust mite cover for your entire mattress too. They are cheap and i had a noticeable imprement in my breathing after i started sleeping with one.

Mattress protectors are a good idea if you have dust mite allergies, or have concerns about the cleanliness of the mattress. Topper is good if you are used to a plush pillow-top type mattress or find the mattress too firm. Mattress pad is really useful if you are using one of the other two things, or to add a little buffer if the mattress material is plastic or rough.

ETA: You can find combo protector/pads, topper/pads, etc. too. So many options.

u/cincrin · 5 pointsr/RBNLifeSkills

Mold spores are everywhere. (Edit: in your home, in my home, at the local library, just... everywhere.) To control them you need to control the temperature and the humidity. Low temp & low humidity=inactive mold spores.

Run the fan when you shower, run the kitchen fan when you boil water, hang your towels up to dry, don't let anything stay wet for long. If you're in a humid climate you might want to get a dehumidifier. I needed one for the basement in my last place. You can tell how humid your place is with a humidity monitor .

For your mattress, you might want a dust mite cover. They keep allergens already in your mattress from getting out, and keep other nasty stuff from getting in. They also make dust mite covers for pillows.

I recommend wearing face masks for cleaning. My partner and I do because we're allergic to dust mites and cleaning's enough of a PITA as it is without allergies.

The EPA has a nice set of pages about mold that might interest you: https://www.epa.gov/mold/brief-guide-mold-moisture-and-your-home#tab-4

There are lots and lots of brands of vinyl free waterproof mattress pads like this. I don't have that exact brand but I have a couple different ones and they're all fine. I recommend putting them in the dryer on low though, or they wear out really fast and the waterproof part can start to not be effective.

u/Zzcprzz · 5 pointsr/peegonewild

I've had great luck with this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EJOYNBA

My ex girlfriend and I used to engage in wet play all the time, right on the bed. Never had any major problems. Usually it involved her on top and just completely releasing her entire bladder all over me. Sometimes she'd even stand up, holding onto the headboard, and let it all out. We did this probably at least once a week. At one point we stayed in bed for several hours while drinking heavily, and she did it 3-4 times in one night, resulting in a huuuuuuge wet mess. The mattress cover still held up pretty well.

The mattress pad does get weaker each time you wash it if you aren't careful, so at some point it is possible for a few drops to get through. If you're super concerned about it, use two! Or use towels in addition to it. You can't tell it's even there and can sleep on it regularly as well.

u/bedbugsugh · 5 pointsr/Bedbugs

Okay, I'm going to try and keep it manageable.

If you live in an apartment, you need to tell the super if only because you risk them going into other places and reinfesting.

There are kits you can buy, though just be sure anything you buy also has a sprayer of some kind if it's mixed

If a kit doesn't have encasements you should order those on amazon.

That said, here are some steps:

Wash and machine dry everything you own, and put them in these or these. Don't be stingy on this, buy 2-3 of them. Make outfits for work and home and organize them bag by bag. Lets call this 25 dollars.

Do this with your linens, pillow cases, and pillows. If your bedsheets are not light colored and plain, then buy some light colored plain ones. White is good, a little off white is best as nymphs can appear white if they haven't eaten, eggs too. Wash your linens every 4 days or so.

Buy mattress encasements for your bed AND your box spring. Measure both to make sure you don't buy one that's too big, the snugger the fit the better. Do not go too cheap on this, look at the reviews. A good one will have not only a zipper but a folding flap to secure it. Lets call this 60 bucks. Once on, never remove the encasement without a PCO telling you to. Do not try to make your own, it never works out well. Important note, do NOT under any circumstance have any kind of bed skirt or blanket that's so large it touches the floor easily. You're going to want to make it so the bugs have to crawl up the legs so they die on the cimexa.

If you do not have an iron/steel bed frame, I recommend getting the cheapest one you can find.

Clean everything off the floor, make sure no furniture is touching any other furniture or the wall. If you can't do that, you need to lose some stuff. Believe me it's worth it.

Vacuum daily if you can, and immediately toss out whatever you vacuum up in whatever trash is outside. Do not keep it inside. I wouldn't recommend vacuuming less than every other day. Vacuum early in the morning if at all possible.

Buy interceptors. These babies are pricey unfortunately. but a 12 pack should be good for a bed and something else. That's about 40. Make sure whatever bed post you have will fit in them, they're not the widest.

Buy two cans of bedlam plus. Spray it along each joint and crevice in all the furniture after you've emptied it out. Do not use over the counter sprays, they're almost always things bed bugs are already resistant to.

Buy two bottles of Cimexa and a bellows. Apply the cimexa on the perimeter of every piece of furniture that is on the floor as well as along the wall of the room. Unscrew every outlet and switch cover and put it there as well. Don't go overboard, less is more. This will be about 40 total for the set. I recommend spraying the legs of your chairs. Make sure to cover your face while you're doing this. Cimexa will kill them if they crawl over it, however if it's clumped up in big piles they'll walk around it because they don't like it.

Do NOT switch where you sleep. They'll follow you and spread to other parts of where you live. You're live bait. It sucks, but having them come to where you're sleeping is the best way to kill them. You want them feeling safe and secure as they walk over the poisons and cimexa you've laid out.

You'll be living out of bags for a long long time, so get used to it. I recommend scheduling something you enjoy every week to keep your sanity and have something to look forward to.

Whatever you do, do NOT buy a bed bug bomb. It will scatter them and make them harder to clear.

Nothing goes on the bed unless it's sterile, and nothing leaves the bed without being washed and dried ASAP.

u/SmellGestapo · 4 pointsr/Bedbugs

Several years ago I had a bed bug problem. Not nearly as bad as some others I've seen, but a regular problem. I got rid of it myself with about six months of work.

Because bed bugs are attracted to your breath while you sleep, most of your work will be in and around your bed.

First you have to wash your sheets every week. Strip the bed and put the sheets in a plastic garbage bag to prevent spreading the bugs or eggs around your house or apartment, then throw the bags away once you get the sheets in the wash.

While the bed is stripped, inspect the box spring and bed frame for bugs and eggs. I used strips of scotch tape to gently lift any bugs I found without crushing them and spilling their blood all over my walls.

Twice a week, move the bed out from wherever it sits and clean the area under it. If it's carpeted, use a handheld steam cleaner to slowly blast steam all over the carpet to kill any eggs that may be buried there, then vacuum the entire area. Then spray the carpet with a bed bug spray.

Examine the ceiling, walls, and baseboards around the bed. Bed bugs love to hide in any little crack in your paint, or dent in your wall, or crevice between your baseboard and the dry wall. Again, use the scotch tape to lift any visible bugs off and throw them away. Run a vacuum cleaner hose attachment over the baseboards and the point at which two walls meet, or the wall and ceiling meet. Spray the bed bug spray on these areas.

Carefully examine any electrical outlets near your bed. This is where I found quite a few bugs hiding. Unscrew the outlet cover and look on the back side of it for any bugs there, and look in the outlet wall cavity for bugs. Don't stick metal back there or try to spray liquid. Instead, I used a powder twice a week.

Buy a bed bug mattress cover and one for your box spring if you have one.

While you're doing all this it's important to not change where you sleep, even though you may be getting devoured at night by bed bugs. They're attracted to your breath so if you try sleeping in another area of your home they may just follow you there and infest other furniture.

These are the steps that worked for me. Again, I did them once or twice a week for a solid six months. I never called an exterminator. My landlord tried to use some "bug bombs" from Home Depot but I found they did not work.

u/herdaz · 4 pointsr/homemaking

Enzyme cleaner is the way to go with the mattress (I have a cat who has bladder control issues). Soak it down, let it dry, then cover it with this baby. Bonus points for being bed bug proof! I also cover this mattress cover with a cheap one from Sam's club, as it's easier to wash, similar to this one. The zippered mattress cover is my backup in case there's an accident while the other cover is in the wash

Well, you most definitely should. Just read the reviews for this mattress protector for example. There are plenty of them, they're synthetic (not entirely sure of what type of materials they are made of), and they work. Keeps your mattress stain and odor free, and if we're discussing what's sanitary and what's not - I'd rather not to sleep over old body fluid stains, be it mine and SO's or anyone else's.

Edit: There seems to be a company called LineSpa that advertises a mattress guard that protects even from bed bugs. Don't know how reliable their claim is, but simply use judgement when getting a used mattress.

u/minus0 · 4 pointsr/greatdanes

It happens. I woke up one morning, woke him up, got out of bed and turned around to watch him start peeing. He knew better. Only thing I've found is my Dane needs consistent reinforcement of training. They are smart enough to try and do whatever they want.

Also this cover kept my memory foam mattress 100% dry. Doesn't make any noise either.

u/yooossshhii · 3 pointsr/videos

Mattress protectors are a thing. You should get one. It's like a plunger, you hopefully never need one, but great for that one time you do.

This ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01413355S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ejBuxbQDR3PNH ) is the one we've gotten for our mattresses. Don't believe the waterproof claim, but other than that it works really well. They're pricey, but we were also lazy and didn't want to shop for them in a department store. I'm sure they're some out there that are cheaper and work just as well.

u/Just_Stuffs · 3 pointsr/funny

My bed came with this protector when I purchased it, can vouch it's stopped a many of things, blood, soda, water, one girl squirted like a gusher bed unharmed.

https://www.amazon.com/LINENSPA-Premium-Mattress-Protector-Hypoallergenic/dp/B00MW50FKG/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

Well worth the money, my bed is literally brand new under it.

u/bloodbloodblood · 3 pointsr/sex

I know exactly how you feel. I've always squirted, and yeah you really do get sick of cleaning up all the damn time. Plus, if you're have your period things get REALLY messy. I generally just avoid masturbation/sex then, or use the shower. I used to hate it, but I don't mind it now though, I feel pretty neutral about it, it's just how my body works.

The best thing I've ever bought was a waterproof mattress protector like this - it goes over the mattress under the sheets and soaks up any spills. It's a godsend. I don't have to worry about the mattress any more, and I can get away with washing my sheets once a week.

u/iLiketheway_youthink · 3 pointsr/beyondthebump

I had an issue with high BP along with BAD BAD swelling my last month of pregnancy. My legs and feet looked like the Michelin Man. 😕 The swelling continued until a week PP when my Dr. prescribed a water pill and then I lost 30 lbs in the second week. 30 freakin pounds of water... in a week!! So yeah, the night sweats were unreal! I slept on a towel but also had a mattress protector beforehand (in case my water broke in bed). I'm 4 weeks PP and most things are totally back to normal.

I would pick up a good mattress protector anyway. You're probably going to want one in case your LO has an accident in your bed. It definitely won't help with the actual sweating part but it'll do its job in protecting the mattress. Hang in there!!

After a bedbug scare, I decided not to screw around any more and went hard with these. They do crinkle a little bit, and they run a little big (so you can put a topper on, or for deep mattresses, which most foam are not) but they’re cheap, work great, don’t tear and once you suck the air out they don’t bubble up much. I’m very happy with them and use them on our beds at home too.

As a female that squirts every time and can't help it, I can totally understand how she feels. It's not that common (chances are none of her friends do, so she feels like the odd one) and it doesn't get talked about much. And some guys don't like it or get freaked out by it, so she may have had a bad experience with a previous partner.

Reassure her... A LOT. That you like it/find it arousing. Also, that you don't care about any potential mess. By the way, Amazon has this amazing mattress cover that is worth every penny. Reassure her that she is normal - studies have shown that potentially about 45% of women experience this at some time, if not regularly.

Some tips I can share that may also help if she really wants to avoid it, because even if she gets to the point where she's ok with it, there's some days where you know there's gonna be some frisky time, but don't wanna deal with that mess. Drink lots of fluids earlier in the day if you're anticipating evening frisky times, but cut back around 4pm. Start with LOTS of foreplay. Whatever amount of time you're thinking, triple it. As you're getting closer to it, take a break - opportunity to go run to the bathroom real quick. Sometimes I'll forget about it and hubby will make a point of taking a bathroom break so that I remember to as well.

But overall, take time to discuss this OUT of the bedroom. Try to find out what about it is making her feel self-conscious so that maybe you guys can work through the underlying issue together.

Go to mattress firm and try out a Tulo Firm, it is pretty firm, comes in at 700 right now.

Target has a wide variety of sheets, you can get a king set for less than 55 typically (https://www.target.com/s/threshold+king+sheets)

If you are a Costco member or know someone I think they have some sheet sets that are less when on sale.

Mattress Protector: Luna: https://www.amazon.com/Luna-Hypoallergenic-Waterproof-Mattress-Protector/dp/B002AQPUW0/

Or Coop - home goods mattress protector: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UKHSNYI/

Both are good choices, $50, luna is a cotton jersey feel, coop is a more smooth and ever so slightly thicker feel.

Foundation: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006MIVR06 , basic zinus metal frame, 67

Another zinus more traditional slatted option: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07199DPJM 95

Comes out to around 875-900 before tax. Leaves enough for a comforter or blanket. I am sure there are cheaper options for everything I've posted, but those are all products I've tested and at least are familiar with them.

You're not supposed to remove the cover from the SI mattress. You should get a mattress protector/cover + sheets and wash those instead.

I have this one and it works great.

u/kindall · 2 pointsr/Frugal

What you want is a terry-lined Gore-Tex protector like this one. It's breathable, but water and mites don't get through. The top of it feels like a towel and won't make you sweat. Bed Bath and Beyond or any mattress store should have them. We got one when we got our last mattress four years ago; it has saved that mattress from two pre-housebroken puppies and a kitten. Mattress still looks brand new.

u/rynnbowguy · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

I have just successfully dealt with this without an expensive exterminator. First thing is to take the bottom liner off of your box spring and use this dust all on it http://smile.amazon.com/CimeXa-Insecticide-ounces-bottle-Rockwell/dp/B0085HRWI8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463285327&sr=8-1&keywords=cimexa . The Cimexa will get under their exoskeleton and dry them out and kill them usually within 2 days. You want to use the Cimexa on your baseboards, light fixtures, outlets, and furniture. From all my research this is the best way to get rid of them as they are really resistant to chemical insecticides. Put your mattress and box spring in bed bug resistant mattress covers. Through all I read this brand was the best http://smile.amazon.com/Sleep-Defense-System-Waterproof-Encasement/dp/B01413355S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463285687&sr=8-1&keywords=bed+bug+mattress+covers. I put the Cimexa on the box spring on top of the mattress cover just to be sure everything died. You want to leave the mattress covers on for at least a year, the bugs can survive for up to a year with no food, so if you are just trying to starve them out keep everything sealed for at least a year. The plastic foot to put under your bed works, I used tuperware of water but I have plastic bed feet so I don't have to worry about rusting my bed frame, they cannot swim at all so the water is very effective, put bleach or witch hazel in the water to discourage molding and mildewing. Wash and dry all clothes on high heat, they will die within 20 minutes if exposed to 120 degree heat, can also put things in your oven that wont fair well in the dryer. Vacuum daily, make sure you take the bag out seal it in a garbage bag and take it outside far as you can from the house as soon as you are done vacuuming. Keep sleeping in your bed, you want to draw them out of their hiding spaces to get in contact with all the Cimexa you have laid out, you are essentially using yourself as bait, there are also so DIY CO2 traps (they are attracted to the CO2 we exhale) that use water and yeast or dry ice, I haven't used them but you might want to look into them if you feel so inclined. Good news is they are more annoying than anything, they are not known to spread disease or cause actual harm aside from being itchy. Good luck I hope this helps you.

Hey, Sorry I don't go on reddit all that often so I just saw this msg.

The protector doesn't change anything about firmness or support. It's about as thin as a sheet so I can't imagine how it would. It's not thick like a mattress pad would be. This is the one I purchased http://www.amazon.com/Luna-Hypoallergenic-Waterproof-Mattress-Protector/dp/B002AQNXR4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1410799758&sr=8-2&keywords=mattress+protector

Is this something that happens to you often? May I suggest this?...

Not sure if it will work for pee, but I can verify that it does a good job protecting the mattress from the blood. Gallons and gallons of blood.

I have the liberator throw (the fascinator), and even though it's expensive, it'll last a good long while.

You can also get a waterproof mattress protector for a bit less.

We use these together and have survived accidents. The first is really thin and the second is a more traditional mattress pad so you can put one on top of the other.

I've had the same one since 2011. It's never failed, even with the kids sleeping in it and wetting the bed sometimes.

I think it's important to take care in washing and especially drying for it to last a while. Always, always let it air dry. Don't use harsh detergents.

u/DrunkleDick · 2 pointsr/mechanical_gifs

I got you covered.

u/travellingmonk · 2 pointsr/CampingGear

Are you sleeping directly on top of the mattress, or are you in a sleeping bag?

Cold, dirty and sticky... ugh. If they're close to standard mattress sizes (twin I'm guessing), why not just get a mattress protector? They're made to protect the mattress from humans, but will also work protecting the human from the mattress.

Something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/SafeRest-Hypoallergenic-Waterproof-Mattress-Protector/dp/B003PWS9AI

Not sure what you might have available in NZ though. Along similar lines, you could make one from a tablecloth, the kind with fabric on one side and plastic or PU coating on the other.

These waterproof blankets from LL Bean are my go to. they're a little crinkley (mostly when you're unfolding it) but cheaper and way better than the liberator blanket.

ETA: This mattress protector is really great and a super effective backup. It's not crinkley or hot like some waterproof mattress protectors I've tried and is great for the times you can't stop long enough to get the blanket

We have this mattress protector. We keep it on the bed 24/7 (except when we wash and dry it), so we can wet the bed any time we want - which is AWESOME!

We hardly even notice it, really. The only thing is that it makes the bed a little bit warmer than normal. There is a slight crinkliness, but you get used to it really fast and we don't even notice at all.

We have only had a small leak once, and that's because a cat clawed a tiny corner once and we didn't notice. Aside from that it has been absolutely perfect, and we've had some really heavy piss play on it.

As far as care. Wash it like normal, but air dry it. Putting it through the dryer will ruin it.

Downsides :
takes like 2 days to decompress once you get it - and i see you're in a time pinch.
You absolutely should buy a protector at the same time, and those are hard to get right ... some of my ... 'sleepovers' complain this protector is too hot - probably because it is waterproof - which might be a good add for op. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0035E63WM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00

upsides:
pretty much everything else, comfort, price, quality, durability. Spring mattresses are good when new new (1-2 yrs) especially for husky (250lbs) young men who like to ..... jump ... on the bed, this thing is just as good since the first day my evil bitch ex girlfriend unboxed it while I was still at school. The video on the unboxing looked pretty awesome..... but i will never know if it was actually that awesome.

u/tylerrobb · 2 pointsr/grandrapids

I'm sleeping on a Casper currently. I used to sleep on a Sleep Number mattress but I honestly like this one a lot better.

When I worked at that mattress factory back in the day, I had to haul off a 1 month old $5000 Tempurpedic memory foam mattresses that this couple really didn't like. I was really surprised to find that people pay so much for a mattress that they end up hating. That memory foam absorbs body heat and doesn't breathe like latex does. You end up sinking into the mattress to the point where rolling over or moving in the middle of the night becomes frustrating.

Whatever mattress you end up with, buy a mattress cover to protect it. I got this highly rated one off of Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002AQNXR4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Nice pillows and pillow protectors are a good upgrade too. I ended up saving so much money from buying my mattress online that grabbing extras like new pillows and a really nice set of sheets didn't hurt my wallet so much. These pillows are super squishy and provide low-to-medium support: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000SONR1W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1#

Sheets make a big difference to me and when I first saw the price on the sets at Parachute, I chuckled at how ridiculously high they seemed. I asked around online and bit the bullet. I have never been so satisfied day after day with any purchase. http://www.parachutehome.com (They talk about how they get softer after each wash and I thought that was total BS. It's actually true. The sheets get softer the longer you use them!)

Watch this video to learn more about what makes the Casper and Tuft and Needle mattresses different. It talks about what they're made of and who they're geared towards. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sov1T1BJ-mc

u/meadoweravine · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I got this from Amazon. Haven't leaked on it yet, but it does not make any noise or feel sticky or make me sweaty at night, so I'm liking it so far!

Edit: I had to say it. Not an hour later my cat threw up all over the bed. That mattress pad worked great though, nothing got through!

u/INS0MN14C · 2 pointsr/sex

Happy for you!

My girlfriend had a love hate relationship with squirting before we started dating. She loved it, because it was much different than just having an orgasm, but she hated the clean up of it, so she would always try to hold it back. All of my previous girlfriends had also been squirters, so I was already prepared for cleanup when we started dating.

I own what we like to refer to as "The Sex Sheet".

I own a memory foam mattress, and if you expose them to too much liquid they kind of start to break down (or so I've heard). Anyway, this thing is 100% water resistant, so there is no wet spot left on the mattress. When we're done, I usually just toss it to the side, throw the regular sheets on, and save laundry for the next day.

u/Mcnugget84 · 1 pointr/Septemberbumpers2017

Not sure about where you but we have something like this because we have pets, and messy sex and I also really like my mattress.

I use cotton bedding as well. I'd suggest picking whichever type of weave feels most comfortable to you (percale, sateen, etc). I'm currently using Threshold percale sheet sets from Target and Tommy Hilfiger sheet sets from Macy's and love them.

Dust mite allergy is a big thing for many eczema sufferers (including myself), and my allergist recommended using dust mite covers for the mattress and pillow to limit exposure. I just bought this one on Amazon last week.

As for doing laundry, it's a good idea to wash bedding using hot water weekly for cleanliness as well as to kill dust mites and bacteria etc. Fragrance can be a huge trigger for eczema, so I've been using All Free & Clear detergent and using white vinegar in a Downy ball for the wash. I also use dryer balls in the dryer instead of fabric softener (no fragrance and chemicals!).

I really liked the putting a potty chair in his room idea. It’s good to have the option. Sometimes if they’re sleeping they can’t feel it coming and there’s no waking them up. Limit fluid intake before bed, go potty as part of his bedtime routine and be patient, they will grow out of it eventually. In the meantime use pull-ups and keep a protective/plastic sheet on his bed. That way you can easily take it off and wash it and he and his mattress won’t smell like urine.

Also these aren't just cotton there is a hidden waterproof layer. The quilting is really comfortable too.

if the first time was an accident the couch now smells like potty.

You need to clean it with an enzymatic cleaner to completely eliminate the smell for the dog.

If it happens again - then it is a training issue and you definitely need to not allow her on the couch.

I would purchase a waterproof mattress protector to cover the seat cushions AFTER you use the enzyme cleaner.

This way if there are other occurrences, it won't actually soil your couch again.

I don't see why this sub can't be that place. It's not a sub for hosting professional porno, these are all real people doing the thing (and a shit ton of lurkers).

That said, to answer your questions:

a. Get some kind of waterproof barrier. It can be as sexy as this fitted, rugged, waterproof sheet, or as utilitarian as this regular mattress protector. Then get a cheap microfiber blanket or flannel sheet for absorbency. Or get the fancy Liberator Throw. More expensive, but a better all-in-one product.

b. All the positions. Go for distance. Upside down and backwards. Sixty-nining. Really whatever strikes your fancy... but from what I hear: use an enema before you literally pee up someone's butt.

As for places other than the bedroom... camping? idk, just don't fuck up an AirBnB

u/1new_username · 1 pointr/HVAC

Not an HVAC person, nor a doctor, but I am an allergy sufferer that lives in Texas.

Allergies suck here. Come up to D/FW and you'll think you are going to die. Nice air filters and room air purifiers can help, but you'll never create the "clean room environment" you think you will.

Here are things I would try/check:

Get a good allergen reducing pillow case like this:

http://smile.amazon.com/Allersoft-100-Percent-Allergy-Standard-Encasement/dp/B002R0DR3I/

and a good mattress cover like this:

http://smile.amazon.com/SafeRest-Hypoallergenic-Waterproof-Mattress-Protector/dp/B003PWNH4Q

Those two things will do tons more than the air filters.

Reduce or remove strong scents from the house (candles, scented plug ins, etc) as well as from detergents (try All free and clear). Try cleaning with "green" cleaning products, like any of the stuff from Mrs. Myers instead of the standard stuff. It takes a bit more elbow grease, but it can really help if you have respiratory issues.

If all else fails, buy some Flonase and use it reguarly (every day, even if no symptoms that day) during your bad allergy season:

http://smile.amazon.com/Flonase-Allergy-Relief-Nasal-Spray/dp/B00MXOVBO0/

It will take anywhere from about 3 days to a week to build of effectiveness after you start using it, but it generally will help almost anyone (I'm not a doctor, I have no idea what it will do to your girlfriend, check it out with a doctor if you aren't sure).

Good luck.

It's a thin as a sheet and completely silent (no plastic-y sound or feel). I picked this up when the cat was having bladder crystal irritation and peeing in our bed (supposedly, they do that when they're stressed and looking for a safe place to pee).

We don't have that problem now with proper supplements, but the cover is still there for just in case there's a flare up or some sort of rare vengeance piss.

u/lucky1111 · 1 pointr/Pets

Hey there, I'm sorry for the stress that you're going through. I totally understand the frustrations of it all. My husband and I had the same problems with the second cat we adopted. We're lifers when it comes to our animals but honestly this cat was exhausting us and we were on the brink of giving up on him because getting woken up constantly by cat piss is the worst.

After trying everything we eventually got a prescription for Prozac, and although it sucks shoving a pill down his throat everyday (I suggest a pill popper) it solved the problem!

And this mattress cover is great!

This is the one we bought. Survived a massive water spill. My boyfriend did the research on this one. All I know is that it saved my mattress.

We have these mattress protectors on our beds. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003PWNH4Q

We accidentally locked one of our cats into the guest room for a day and he peed on the bed. The mattress protector caught it all and the mattress was completely perfect.

This isn't exactly what you asked, but I struggled with it too. The issue I had is that my mattress was maybe 12" thick before and these encasements are more like 16" thick, which is meant for the thicker mattresses.

The issue it created is that the dust mite cover would slide around, bunch up, etc. and that made it hot and uncomfortable. I hated it. But I didn't know what to do and couldn't find products with a snugger fit.

I also realized my mattress was a little old. I went to Amazon and bought a new one (Zinus green tea mattress) that was actually 16 inches thick and allowed the cover to be a better fit. This resolved the fit issue and made it nicer to sleep on.

Because the cover causes sheets to still slide around (it isn't as grippy as the mattress itself), I use those little corner clip things that help keep the cover in place.

It can run a little warm, but isn't as bad as before. I've learned to leave the temperature in my home down a little and use a fan as needed.

Hope that helps a little bit. This is the cover I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PWNH4Q/

They might not work for everyone but when I had a case of bed bugs about 3 years ago and ordered this one for my mattress: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z06F2OI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and this one for my box spring (same brand): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011M87Q50/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I used those covers on my bed, covered my floor and bed frame with diatomaceous earth, and had an exterminator come and thankfully never had a recurrence.

I use something like this and it's plenty for occasional play: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PWNH4Q/r

Honestly, it doesn't bother me, since I know I'm going to get horribly gross every time I'm on a plane, and then I just clean me/my clothes right afterwards.

But, if you're really excited by this idea, something like this might be best: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PWS9AI/

It's waterproof/non-permeable, but small enough to pack in a carry-on without too much issue. Essentially just a waterproof fitted sheet.

Yes the mattress cover will encase them so if they are in your mattress they can't get out but i would treat it with diatomaceous earth first to help kill any that are there. They say to leave the cover on for at least 18 months cause bed bugs can survive a long time without food. If you do decide to get a new mattress i would get a cover anyways to protect it and prevent any bed bugs from getting into it. This is the one i used when i was going through the same thing.

Get one of these

We have one for our memory foam mattress and it's great.

A cheaper option is these matress protectors. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PWNH4Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have the same problem and I got a couple of them and they work great. But you do end up cuddling in a cold puddle afterwards, which is a bit gross :p

It's not a child mattress.

It's a waterproof cover - similar to what you'd use with a kid. Here's an example.

I recently bought a new bed, and I looked through this site to determine what would be best. I ended up going with a latex mattress. I'm pretty satisfied with it. The frame depends on what type of mattress you're getting. You'll probably want a frame and box spring for an innerspring mattress, but everything else just needs a foundation. Also, be sure to get a waterproof mattress cover to protect your mattress.

P.S., buy at least a queen if you're going to have another person in your bed. A double will be pretty cramped.
