Also curious. Just occurred I found this mini kegerator at Walmart for $25 in the bargain bin (brickseek), wonder if it'd handle cold brew.

I'll try one day but maybe someone else has tried it.

Not sure what you typed makes sense...

You want to make a kegerator OUT of a keg?

Everything else you posted is subjective and depends on your preferences or what you want to accomplish.

If you want to build a kegerator, you can buy a fridge and this kit - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0036UTZL6

It's the exact one I bought, and I found a $100 upright fridge/freezer combo on Craigslist.

If you want one basically ready to go, search for kegerator on Amazon or Costco and you can have one on your doorstep for less than $400.

Keep in mind you will need to find a place to fill the co2 tank before you can pour.

Its that one. Got it on a woot sale. Its really a cheap in the world of kegerators but it keeps the beer cold and it spits it out when I pull the handle so I'll take it.

Did you open the valve on the tank? You say the tank is full, but is that based on weight/shaking the tank or from the gauge on the regulator? Remember that the keg will come pressurized, so it'll push beer on it's own for a while until the pressure is used up. I've made the mistake of turning off the gas to the keg but not realizing it because the keg has pressure too.

If the tank gauge on the regulator is 0, then there's no gas coming from the tank.

If the tank gauge isn't 0, but the regulated pressure gauge (measuring the pressure after the regulator) is 0, then the regulator is probably turned completely off and you have a leak after the regulator.

Edit: Looking at pictures of the KC2000 on amazon, it looks like it only has a single output gauge, and no tank gauge.

  1. Make sure the black knob is opened fully to the left
  2. The blue knob is aligned to the red hose.
  3. Then adjust the regulator by turning to the left until it reads 15 psi (or whatever your beer should be set to).

Doesn't do anything at all. Might be tricky finding the right size fridge though. I use this one that's meant to convert to a kegerator, but it's pricier than your typical dorm fridge.

Whatever you do don't buy this one. It's convenient because it doesn't take up a lot of space, but it is next to impossible to find the 5L kegs. Guess you don't have to worry about that though because you want to use corney kegs.

It is this kegerator I bought off Amazon. If you're looking for just a fermentation chamber though, I would just start searching around CL for half or full fridges on the cheap.

For the price of running lines and buying regulators and taps you can get - https://www.amazon.com/EdgeStar-KC2000TWIN-Kegerator-Draft-Dispenser/dp/B0170O0D82

Small (2 feet by 2 feet) and portable (Wheels) you can roll it in and out as needed.

Now, you said there is not room for more taps, but then you said you have a basement.... Have you measured and priced out building a walk in cooler in the basement right under the bar, then you could run the beer lines up the wall and the only bar space taken up would be some wall space and you could have MANY taps. There is a lot of interesting choices these days on our beloved mega-online-corp site for ~$100 or less.

Like:

But almost all of them are spotty as well. And not a lot of non-mega-corp website reviews. =(

We probably could've. We had a rotating beer tap and the coffee tap in one of these.

It wouldn't have been anything more than pulling the hose off and running water through it, but people are lazy.

I have to go fill the CO2, so I definitely will check it out. It looks nice and new, just a bit dusty. Here's the kegerator:http://imgur.com/gallery/wdlfMuH

Not much inside but the hose for the tap and a shelf. It's pretty large, looks like this one. It seems like ball lock are most popular and easier to get parts for, so I might go with that after my measurements. Thanks for the tips!

What did you think about this deal on the ball lock keg with gear from kegerator.com? Adventures have a slightly higher price it seems.

For 3 grand you could get an Everest monster with space for 9 homebrew kegs...

I'm on my way to building a kegerator. I bought the freezer and the thing that is going to keep it at 35 degrees. I found the CO2 tank for $30. Now I need the rest of the stuff. [is this a good deal?](Kegco Premium Door Mount Kegerator Keg Tap Conversion Kit with No Tank https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0046LBZBC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_SlgjybTCSY8NS)

I need to know if this is a good deal. I don't mind starting with just one connection. I got a 15 cube freezer so if you guys know a good deal on 4 tap kits. Then please let me know. If not should I just stick to the one I found.
