I use this test tube rack from Amazon and it suits my needs well.

Edit: the comments from users on Amazon show a lot of pictures with razors in use.

> Because I'm ignorant

Not ignorant, just hadn't asked yet. I use a pipette, others like a blunt syringe, both can be had cheap somewhere like Amazon or eBay. Can probably grab sample vials too. https://www.amazon.com/BCP-50pcs-Plastic-Graduated-Orange/dp/B07BBK3Y4D vials and https://www.amazon.com/Basic-Essential-Bottles-Disposable-Graduated/dp/B073WLCQWD pipettes. $16 and set for all the ink you can imagine, both wash out so you will use these for long time.

u/klundtasaur · 7 pointsr/fountainpens

Depends on what I'm looking for.

Pens For the cheapest deals on readily available imported pens, it's hard to beat Amazon (esp. with Prime Shipping). And of course, there's all the links in the sidebar. But rarer or more exclusive imports are apparently cheaper to acquire at Engeika. I've never used them, though I've heard great things.

Ink Samples The Goulet's have an incredible selection and a really clean website (now with a few bugs, but still aesthetically pleasing), but only 2ml samples. Both Brian Anderson and Todd Nussbaum do 3ml samples, and they also carry Sailor inks (a significant gap in Goulet's coverage). Todd, in particular, is shipping out of AZ, so he's a day or two faster for us impatient west-coasters. Anderson is shipping out of WI, so he's probably closer to you than either the Goulet's or Todd.

Paper Depends on how fancy you want it. My university's bookstore carries Rhodia, so I employ my tax-free discount there. But for really "luxury" papers (as pretentious as that sounds) you can't beat Paperforfountainpens.com. They repackage Japan's Tomoegawa "Tomoe River" paper into notebooks and A5 pads. But mostly I'm writing on the "absorbent-as-paper-towels" shit notepads my work has for free.

Nib tuning/cleaning supplies Almost exclusively at the Goulet's. They have a great selection, sure, but more than that, every single tuning product they sell they have a video teaching you how and when to use it. I did buy a sample tube holder from Amazon instead of the Goulet's, but that's because it holds 50 (to their 40) and I'm already starting into my third 50-tube holder.

I use a couple of these wood test tube racks.

They're capable of holding every type of razor I've owned. Plus they fit in my medicine cabinet nicely, and they don't look half bad IMO.

u/SlyShark0 · 5 pointsr/fountainpens

It is a test tube holder, but it's a pretty damn genius idea for holding pens too - I may need to grab one myself.

u/parker679 · 4 pointsr/wicked_edge

Pretty sure it's the exact same thing, the stock photos are identical.

u/SoapBarGuy · 4 pointsr/wicked_edge

I bought a test tube rack like this one for my DE razors.
Actually mine is the same model, but with only 6 holes... wish I bought the one with 12 (or even two of them). :D

I only own 2 Soaps (Arko and Cella).

My aftershaves are stored in one (of three) bathroom cabinets - the one without doors so I can reach them easily.

In the second cabinet (which has a lock) I glued some tiny magnets like this on the inside of the door, so I can hang my blades I currently use.

I like some items from frugalshave on etsy, like the blade dispenser - have a lot of loose blades floating around.

lay it on its side. razors don't need to be stood up or suspended in mid-air. IMO that justs makes them more likely to get knocked over.

the razor i am using for the week or whatever sets on the counter, rest of them sit in a test tube rack under the sink.

u/asciiaardvark · 3 pointsr/fountainpens

these test tube holders also work really well for that.

For anyone who wants one, I have this one and it's great. I like it as opposed to the one pictured because it doesn't have the drying pegs, just two rows.

u/chiseledface · 3 pointsr/wicked_edge

Problem is that you can get a stand that isn't as fancy for way too cheap.

Personally, I have 3 of this one, and love it.

I use a soft wooden test tube stand for inked pens and keep them nib up. Sometimes I have flow issues, but like having them visible and protected. Uninked pens I keep in lined drawers in one of these or a pen case.

u/ch4rr3d · 3 pointsr/fountainpens

I use one of these test tube holders,. It's just about full though, so either I'll need to get another or user up some ink.

u/FluidDruid216 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

This is dope. What I would try is something like this that you could cut and put the figures on top. Might still cut down on airflow but at least you wouldn't have to worry about fixing anything to your case.

u/smokeyser · 2 pointsr/MushroomGrowers

The roll I bought was only $25 at amazon. That's 250 feet, or enough to wrap 750 plates and comes out to around 3 cents per plate. Not bad IMO.

u/justateburrito · 2 pointsr/wicked_edge

I might get this one next since the one I got only holds 6.

u/HedgehogKnits · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

I recommend this and these
It’s a set of vials and syringes. I would recommend getting a vial holder as well. That way, you have all the vials in one places and are not as likely to spill. The vials are nice because you can test small batch mixtures. Label the tops of the vials and keep a notebook. Rhodia is good or something else that can show off sheen. This way, you can more down the vial designation, the proportions, the inks used and what the resulting color looks like.

Another thing you would want to learn about is color therapy because a cool yellow mixed with a warm blue will give you a different green than a warm yellow mixed with a cool blue. Rot dye has a great mixing chart that is a wonderful resource for color mixing.

Beyond that, different inks interact and react in sometimes unexpected ways when mixed, which is another reason to have small vials to see what the reactions are and if the ink start to separate or do something else unusual.

u/clockspot · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

Mine is this one from Goulet, but once I got more than 40 vials I took it apart and laid the two layers side by side across a box (9.5" wide) I had handy. There are also racks like this one on amazon.

u/sazeracs · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

I use a test tube holder

I take the blade out and dry it off but use it multiple times.

I combine aftershave balm and splash together and apply it to a damp face.

u/vigg-o-rama · 2 pointsr/DIY_eJuice

if you use the little 8ml sample size flavors, this is a must have.

u/Turtl3Up · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

I just have them floating in a drawer right now also, but a guy I work with uses this test tube rack and it works exceedingly well. I'll be picking one up soon, or one like it.

u/-punctum- · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I don't pH my skincare products, but I do work in the lab and pH solutions on a regular basis.

If you want to get pH strips, it's important to get the ones with multiple color indicators. I'd suggest getting one from a reputable science supplier, like machery-nagel or milipore/emd. Don't get the cheapo single-color yellow test strips - those aren't very accurate or precise.

4.6 and below and you're golden. I test every can right after I open them. Only takes a tiny little bit of the strip. I've tested maybe 25 cans so far and I don't think I've made a dent in the roll.

Especially helpful when you're growing weird varieties of tomato that have an unknown acidity.

edit: according to the reviews, you would think these are only ever used for testing the PH of kombucha or a woman's vagina.

u/MemoryEbeling · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

I get mine from Amazon, but I also use a lot of tubes. Instead of inking up my pens from bottles, I only use sample vials (or something like a TWSBi inkwell for my larger pens). It's a great way to avoid contamination of your ink. We live in a pretty moldy area, so I"m always concerned about fuzz on the pens syndrome.

Note: there are other types of tubes that are on eBay, but these cryotubes are by far the best. The other clear ones can't have 5ml unless you fill it to the brim, making a mess of things. These tubes are exactly like the ones sold on Goulet pens, only it has blue lids instead of clear.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074QKMF2G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/cleberm · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

You can buy them from Goulet pens, they have a 40 vials one.

I found this 50 vial holder, which is the same thing but bigger capacity. It works perfectly. (mine is almost full... I think I went overboard with it).

u/TexasHex · 2 pointsr/DIY_eJuice

See if you can find something like these and this. The test tube rack fits on my scale just fine. I use the 8 ml tubes but they go much higher. Be sure to match up the diameter of the rack holes and tubes. Inexpensive, reusable , quick and efficient.

This is the one that I got from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I13ZNIC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It is pretty nice. Seems sturdy. Might look at getting little rubber feet for the bottom to stop any accidental sliding. The only thing to know would be any TTO razors will be less steady than a two/three piece just because of the lowered bar in the middle being the part in contact with the wood instead of the whole (or at least both sides) head like a three piece.

Here is a couple pictures I took of mine. http://imgur.com/a/w93ge
(Dovo 5/8 straight, slim, 34c, red flare tip, black handle flare tip, wilkinson sword). There is a little less than 1mm difference between the diameter of the hole and the width of of the straight where it meets. Not snug, but not enough room to rattle.

Edit: Straight razor size

u/Penman10 · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

I bought this one for my API test kit and its the best purchase ive ever made on amazon. Is on Prime as well for $6.09.

u/gingermonkey1 · 2 pointsr/fountainpens

I use a vial rack from amazon it was around 5.99 and holds 50 vials.

ETA link and state price is now $6.09

I also bought some tiny round stickers. I put one on top of each sample vial and put a little ink on the sticker. Makes it easier to find a certain color.

u/johnqnorml · 1 pointr/fountainpens

here ya go! It's a test tube tray

u/youaintnoEuthyphro · 1 pointr/vinegar

nah that's not at all what you want, it's not measuring pH but concentration of sanitizer in solution. pH strips like this or something with a more specific 1.5-4 range would be ideal.

That said, pretty much any level of acidity is ok, 2.4-6 is rather ideal and I would consider 2.2 or lower necessary for pickling: however, I do not recommend pickling with homemade vinegar. In order to pickle safely you need to know not only the pH but the concentration of the vinegar and for that you need to test the presence of acetic acid in your vinegar, those tests are a lot more expensive ($50/$80) than a couple hundred pH strips.

u/dbe7 · 1 pointr/pharmacy

Get yourself a roll of this:
https://www.amazon.com/Parafilm-Roll-250-Length-Width/dp/B005KDF3X6

Cut a 2 inch square and stretch it over the opening. Keep thumb on top (don't need the lid) and you won't spill a drop. You can even leave it on and put the lid back on, the customer will need to break a little hole in it, but that's easy.

u/poly-experimental · 1 pointr/aeroponics

If the plants are going into a sterile aero system then avoid anything with an organic medium. Here's how I do it:
---get a test tube holder at amazon etc: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01H6ZR2O8/ref=sxts_bia_sr_1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=3182441022&pd_rd_wg=eAkLu&pf_rd_r=RVN9GK60NZEAPR7VVCG4&pf_rd_s=desktop-sx-top-slot&pf_rd_t=301&pd_rd_i=B01H6ZR2O8&pd_rd_w=3e37X&pf_rd_i=test+tube+holder&pd_rd_r=CZHYGMH1F80EFVAQG2M1&ie=UTF8&qid=1506170000&sr=1
---get some thin plastic sheet that can be cut and rolled up into tubes. You can make "cylinders" out of the cut plastic sheet - like test tubes with no bottom. Cut, roll, and place the tubes into the test tube holder.
---stuff a not too dense piece polyethylene fiber (like cotton) into each tube.
---place the seed on top and cover with very light piece of poly fiber or just leave it as is. The plant must get thru the fiber so don't make it too difficult or leave it off entirely. as the plant will be in a sealed environ anyway.
---after seeds are in the tubes place the entire test tube holder into a large zip-loc bag and seal the bag.
---place the zip-loc in appropriate environ for germination (appropriate light and heat levels etc). Poke holes in the zip-loc when necessary.
---harden-off plantlets.
---plants can then be inserted into your grow system and plant holder of choice by simply unrolling each "cylinder" and removing the plant with its roots growing thru the fiber. The synthetic fiber wont mess with your water chemistry and can be placed in net pots etc. Because the fibers are "long" they wont end up in the water unlike some other fibers/mediums.
This method works well for me and you can get test tube racks of various diameters. My racks are 16mm diameter and they work for most seeds. As for the plastic cylinders I just bought a roll of PET plastic (type of polyethylene). It's clear and I just cut it into strips about 5" wide. So when I'm done I have a bunch of cylinders in the test tube rack with seeds about one inch or so from the top. Water each cylinder with a lab squeeze bottle and let the whole rack drain before placing back into the zip-loc.

u/SplooshU · 1 pointr/wicked_edge

u/tequilajunction · 1 pointr/ScotchSwap

But the 1 inch roll would probably work well also.

u/bourbonamator · 1 pointr/ScotchSwap

These are the ones I use Boston Round Bottles and I seal the tops with parafilm though if you can find 1" wide tape instead of 2 that would be better. I normally have to cut the 2" tape in half to wrap the bottles. I've used both kinds of tops and haven't had any leak yet.
