This is my ThinkPad x1 Carbon 6th Gen i7 Dolby vision glossy display.

I added a anti-blue light anti-glare screen protector which fits like a glove and gives a matte finish without compromising the quality of the display. Now I can take it anywhere without the annoyance of a glare.

Also the Microsoft arc mouse which I didn't like at first but it grew on me. The most portable mouse ever and very very responsive. People complain about it not be ergonomic but they are just holding it wrong. The palm has to lay on the mouse and the fingers lay on the edge of the front.

I just ordered the WF-1000m-x3's to complete my set :)

Because A) Gloss gives deeper blacks, and B) it's what Apple does.

If you want matte, get a matte screen protector. This works for the 9550: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D84GA40?psc=1

The laminated displays greatly reduce glare: http://i.imgur.com/kVwG2.jpg

Matte displays are just a diffusing layer on top of the screen. You can just put a film on a glossy display: http://www.amazon.com/COOSKIN-Anti-glare-matte-Screen-Protector/dp/B00D84GA40

I am using this one.

It is very useful and quite easy to apply. It changes a lot and you can barely notice it. The quality is good.

I couldn't find andy downsides using it, but I don't use the laptop for gaming (and I disabled the touch since day one)

u/YouMadBruhh · 3 pointsr/Dell

I bought a matte screen protector and it has worked well for me. It ruins the use of the webcam which is garbage anyways.

I got these

Amazon link

And yeah, if you look at the Microsoft store and look up surface pen tips you'll find them there. Amazon has other brands, but I don't know their quality.

u/FishPotatoWalrus · 2 pointsr/laptops

Yes. Look for matte/anti-glare screen protectors, like this one (but make sure you get the right size, look for your specific laptop brand, and so on).

Basically these are just thin plastic (or sometimes tempered-glass) films which you stick on the screens. In my experience the results are pretty decent, and you can get them for something in the order of $10 USD (and as a bonus, they will protect the screen from scratches).

Should be easy to find on Amazon, Ebay, etc.

u/VictoryGoth · 2 pointsr/chromeos

Sorry, I used the wrong link for the screen protector. I changed the link in my post. Here the matte screen protector.

u/intekmdma · 1 pointr/MatebookXPro

I purchased this one: https://www.amazon.com/Huawei-MateBook-Signature-Screen-Protector/dp/B07DHMLGMD/ref=sr_1_14?crid=3R3GA5NWW6W2F&keywords=matebook+x+pro+screen+protector&qid=1555746236&s=gateway&sprefix=matebook+x+pro+screen%2Caps%2C296&sr=8-14

After using the laptop for several months, I don't notice the screen protector anymore. Very clear (not matte), although, under certain lighting conditions, I do notice a blue tint. Not all the time (i.e. I can't see it now but I believe when direct sunlight shines on it at an angle)

u/Talwyn_Wize · 1 pointr/thinkpad

Thanks for the report. :) I found one review complaining about the fingerprint reader, but some others said it was fine. Nice to see the latter being confirmed. And you didn't need to go so far as to scratch your device for me, :P but I appreciate it all the same.

You are right in that I would probably prefer the matte screen. Would be easier to sit outside on a nice summerday, perhaps at a café, writing. Unfortunately, that's not on sale, and you can't change the screen in the config-options. In addition to that, the matte 300 nits screens are the ones with most complaints about a lack of bightness as well, some going all down past 250 on testing. As I do some video and photo editing, a better screen comes in handy there too. I suppose it's pretty as well.

While it's supposed to be a pain to apply, there are anti-glare films like this to try out.

Appreciate the help! :)

what do you think about this screen protector, can this one be better and give less rainbow effect?

u/_Nundo · 1 pointr/WearOS

I use this screen protector:

6X Savvies Ultra-Clear Screen Protector for Fossil Q Explorist HR (4.Gen), accurately Fitting - Simple Assembly - Residue-Free Removal https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07GTZCSHW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kHF8BbNQNWT3C

These are great, come in a pack of 6 and are a breeze to install. I have used a few in the last couple of weeks because of speakers being too tight around my wrists. I tried temper glass and they wouldn't stick properly. These are cheap and great. I am sorry but I am based in Canada so I can only send the link for amazon Canada, but you can't find them under your Amazon region. Hope it helps!

u/teachanywhere · 1 pointr/thinkpad

I bought this one and I'm pretty happy with it! FORITO 2-Pack Eye Protection 14"... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P9QVQHJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_shar

Requires some patience to apply but once you do it looks great and no more glare!

If you are in EU this is it buddy

Here are mine:

I been using Macbooks for awhile so Im used to glossy but love higher nits. Thats just me, i dont think allot of people with agree with it.
BUT. I do plan on getting the 4k/HDR/500nit version and slapping an Anti Glare screen on it. I saw them on amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Protector-BoxWave-ClearTouch-Anti-Glare-Anti-Fingerprint/dp/B079QD8ZJ3
Might as well have the best of both worlds ;)

u/Arghmando · 1 pointr/Dell

I just bought this, I will let you know if it fits when I get it

u/Nine_Cats · 1 pointr/piano

Unfortunately Apple discontinued the matte screen... Which was wonderful. I can sit in the sun with my MBP and the glare isn't an issue.

This is the best-reviewed option, unless you want to get a Mac Mini and a field monitor.

u/botojomomo · 1 pointr/macbook

In case anyone comes to this thread via search, I got a Moshi iVisor and absolutely love it. I was hesitant because it's much more expensive than any of the other ones ($70 when I bought it), but it was effortless to install and even inside the house it's way better, and I can actually use it outside. I really hate not having matte screens and now I am happy.

u/The--Technician · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Yes, it really is a great laptop. The screen is actually very glossy , but I am glad you have researched and know that there is an excellent and simple solution for that issue. Something like the COOSKIN® 15.6-inch Anti-glare Screen Protector works very well with the Zenbook pro.

u/Yithar · 1 pointr/chromeos

It's probably the glossy display. I put a matte screen protector on it. This made me feel like I wasted $15 for a screen protector, but it works and eliminates the glossy reflection problem. The thing is, your eyes are looking at 2 images at the same time and you're going to have to strain to look at the image you want to look at. Obviously that's going to put some strain on them.

u/Norcarna · 1 pointr/chromeos

I remember someone posting here a while ago about applying a matt protector over their Chromebook screen. Looked great.

However I can't remember if it was a TCB2 or another model.

I'd like to apply a matt cover to mine.

If you are out there, please help.

Edit: With the power of Google.

u/mltam · 1 pointr/Surface

I have been using this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0169SEPGQ

mainly to counter glare. Works well. Writing is also a bit more paper-like, and I haven't noticed any reduction in sensitivity of pen or touch.

u/Meanee · 1 pointr/SkyDiving

It does happen to me. The reason is, Dekunu uses resistive touch screen that requires a soft membrane on top to register touches. They say it's to help people who wear gloves. I say it's to reduce costs. They could've went with matte capacitive touchscreen, but those are more expensive. I am hoping they will provide an upgrade one day.

I am thinking about ordering something like this and cut it to the size, to see if I can make it less shiny. Or invest into AON altimeter. I do happen to like cloud features though...

u/jobrown22 · 1 pointr/Dell

i found this

u/ultimate_lodging · 1 pointr/DataHoarder

I would recommend getting something that fits a couple of internal hard drives packaged in a Pelicase. I transport a lot of Photography gear including some hard drives / SSDs for on-site backups with those, they are pretty much the industry standard (in my field) for getting gear to the shoot / job in one piece. Water resistant, you can park your car on it, can shoot them with a shotgun etc. The only problem: It makes you look like a weapons smuggler / James Bond Bad Guy, so be prepared for extensive security checks in airports.

5-Bay Storage: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J7VUNBS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Pelicase Example (Carry On Size): https://www.amazon.com/Pelican-Padded-Dividers-Equipment-Multi-Purpose/dp/B0019CSVMW/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1492966289&sr=1-2&keywords=pelican+1510+divider

I would check the size of the 5-bay Storage though. There will be a pelican case for it though.

u/brandedtamarasu · 1 pointr/PleX

Just picked up one of these: Noontec-TerraMaster D4-310 USB3.0 Type C External Hard Drive 4-Bay RAID Enclosure Supports 2 Sets of RAID Storage with 2 USB3.0 HUB’s (Diskless) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J7VUNBS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ZIaBzbHVD3XJP . So far so good.

u/kasual7 · 1 pointr/Dell

There is this anti-glare filter you can apply if the glare is overbearing. I don't spend much time outdoor or in place with too much light but I'm considering getting this eventually.

u/ayjez · 1 pointr/Surface

I have a Pro, not a Laptop, but the screen is somehow reflective.

I used it for a year without any trouble, but after buying a matte screen protector now I'm wondering what took me so long. It's much better this way from my point of view, so, if you care about reflectivity you can always add a screen protector.

u/BitingChaos · -1 pointsr/apple

Bullshit.

MacBook Pro Retina on the left, MacBook Pro (with matte display) on the right:

http://i.imgur.com/pxVpuHc.jpg

The glare is the worst thing about the Retina MacBook Pro, easily.

We were looking at buying a bunch of antiglare covers for our systems at work, such as these: http://www.amazon.com/Moshi-iVisor-Anti-Glare-Protector-MacBook/dp/B009J90R4W

http://i.imgur.com/rIVsSdh.jpg

It may not be as bad as the old MacBook "Glossy" displays, but it's still terrible.
