You can easily bypass that with a breaker bar and a larger size socket than the locking lugnut. For the socket, you just have to find a size that makes an extremely snug fit when you hammer it on.
Also, I'm pretty sure thieves that are stealing entire sets of wheels from cars already bought quicker tools to bypass them, like master lug nut key sets that can be bought from your local auto store or Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/STEELMAN-78537-16-Piece-Locking-Master/dp/B00JF5F420) to remove them.
Those would be are spiked lugs to give the appearance of "IM A BADASS MOFO!".
https://www.amazon.com/CHROME-SPIKED-EXTENDED-14x1-5-SPIKE/dp/B00AT6U7R6
Only dorks buy those for their personal vehicles
You're missing a lug nut! Please get that replaced ASAP. Do not replace it with OEM lug nuts. They are known for swelling. I really love the McGuard lug nuts https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000COS0H4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Its a pretty red flag that the nut is missing. That tells me that someone at some point did NOT torque those lug nuts properly. You need to double check the torque on all of those lug nuts. 100 ft-lbs is spec.
As far as wheels go...it is going to cost an arm and a leg to have someone professionally re-finish those for you. If you are a DIYer, I would try to save some money and do it yourself, and accept that it may not look perfect. Otherwise, pick up a set of OEM wheels in better shape (probably $300-$400) or go aftermarket
I have a 19 sport but really wanted an ex for the extras and couldn't get it in time. Seeing it in my color makes me so jelly. That's a clean whip 🔥
As far as chrome delete goes, here are some links you can use if you want. smoked markers, chrome trim blackout, lug chrome delete, black or carbon handles, this site has stickers for the useless buttons, steering wheel, dash, shifter. I went down a rabbit hole.
These are knock off gorrila lug nuts spend 10$ extra for a reputable brand
There's three sizes available (19mm, 21mm and 22mm) as this problem exists across more than one original size of wheel nut but each one is a half size over on one side whereas the other side varies. The 19.5 has an 18.5 on the other size when they are missing the cap like in the original photo here, where the 21.5 and 22.5mm just have the original 21 or 22mm on the other size.
Hate to bust your bubble, but those are just simple tuner lugs. They all have the same key patter, so anyone who wanted to could buy This could get them off in 2mins.
For that range on a stock vehicle, there's a few things I would recommend:
There's plenty more you could go with, but it's hard to know how far he's planning to take the car.
Gorilla Automotive 21133BC Small Diameter Acorn Black 5 Lug Kit (12mm x 1.50 Thread Size) - Pack of 20
These are what I've got. Have been used on stock wheels and 3 other sets; been through 4 winters; seasonal tire changes; rotations every other oil change and they have held their finish great and have kept the wheels on the car.
Those wheel locks are almost useless.
https://www.amazon.com/STEELMAN-78537-16-Piece-Locking-Master/dp/B00JF5F420
Or if they really don't give a crap, they'll just bang an oversized socked on it.
Or you can order a master key set from Amazon and say F U to anybody who has one.

Gorilla spline socket. If I was a professional wheel thief I'd definitely have one in my toolbox. Amazon sells them too. http://www.amazon.com/POINT-SPLINE-TUNER-LUG-NUT/dp/B006UH66R8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452819298&sr=8-1&keywords=gorilla+spline+socket
I bought McGards. They have a part selector that will drill down to ones that fit. They have a couple color options (black or chrome) and end designs. The seat design must be selected properly so they clamp correct.
Here’s the ones I bought: McGard 64012 Chrome Bulge Cone Seat Style Lug Nuts (M12 x 1.5 Thread Size) - Set of 4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000COS0GU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_2mm6TRxu8LfTQ
Yup, this is what I bought after my jeep was stolen, and I haven't had a problem since.
I used these:
DPAccessories LCB3B6HE-BK04016 16 Black 12x1.5 Closed End Bulge Acorn Lug Nuts - Cone Seat - 19mm Hex Wheel Lug Nut https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JNEBGFW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZQrVCbKFD5HNT
Found these on reddit a month or so ago.
DPAccessories LCB3D8HEOBK04020 20... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JNL64KM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
These are the ones I use, work just fine.
These might work for you. They basically have threads which cut into the outside of the nut to remove it.
If they don't work, you can always drill out the stud. It sucks, and takes forever, but it works without damaging your wheel.
I bought these off amazon based on comments.
DPAccessories LCB3D8HEOBK04020 20... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JNL64KM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I haven’t yet put them on. Should i not put them on?
I use these. I've had them for 4 years and besides being dirty they still look the same. I take my tires off all the time too but no issues.

I spent a ton of time looking at different posts here when deciding on my wheel and tire setup, getting frustrated with pictures without details and second guessing if I had what needed. Just in case it helps someone like me in the future, here is a full linked list of everything I needed for the wheels:
>Black Rhino Boxers, 15x7, 5/100 bolt pattern
These are hard to link to a direct purchase, as stock always changes. I ended up buying them on eBay, as discount tire are dicks and wouldn't even sell me the wheels to take with me, as "there's no way that those will fit on your crosstrek". Wherever you find them, be careful as they come in a few different bolt patterns. You need 5x100.
> BFG ko2s 215/75r15.
>Hubcentric rings for the Black Rhino's through Subtle Solutions These are specifically for the boxers, you don't need them if you're getting the method mr502 which seem to be crazy popular here.
>Mcgard 12x1.25 tapered lugsThese will also work for the method mr502s if you're getting those.
That's it.
edit because I lied... I also got new tpms sensors, as I'm keeping my stock wheels to put winter tires on and don't want to have to go through resetting tpms sensors and having tires re-mounted every time.
> This set from tpms is clone-able and worked beautifully for me.
There's another set you can buy that have internal threads in a cone shape. They make short work of many locking nuts.
You give him $0, and tell him about Performance Tool M980 Emergency Lug Nut Removal Set
those are aftermarket lug nuts. you need a tuner lug nut key to take those off. the key looks like this:
https://www.amazon.com/POINT-SPLINE-TUNER-Mr-Lugnut/dp/B006UH66R8
there are different styles, sizes etc.
Here's what they look like. This was last weekend. I swapped them with some McGards I got on Amazon for $57.
http://imgur.com/eUrrT1B
http://imgur.com/Xao6OcP.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000COS0GU
It looks like it is a splined locked lug nut. If you get a wrench/socket like this, you should be good to go. Just be sure to get the correct size, or get a multi pack.
Couldn't get them mounted today (they have Dz102 with a 205/50/15 on them as of today)
Stock Lug nuts wouldn't fit with them on so i bought some of these to see if I can get them mounted Thursday!

If you can't find one, I've had a LOT of luck with these.
Im going with these. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079FMTHWD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_FZKoDbM691N82
Need some black mcgard spline lug nuts...
https://www.amazon.com/McGard-65554BK-Chrome-SplineDrive-Installation/dp/B0006HOVNE/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1525024775&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=mcgard+nuts+subaru&dpPl=1&dpID=31GHvt29zOL&ref=plSrch
This is very common on lots of newer fords. When they swell the only socket that works is a 19.5mm. I recommend replacing them asap just so you don’t get stuck someone if you happen to get a flat tire. I replaced my lug nuts at 8k miles to get black ones for my black wheels so I personally have not had an issue but I have seen it multiple times at the shop I work at.
I used mcgard lug nuts which are a one piece design and are made very well and you should not have to replace them again.
Here are chrome ones you can pick black as well.

Mcgards, I've used them on all my cars spline + lock.

fiesta lugnuts size : 12x1.5
Those kind of look like spline drive lugs. If you get something like this, that should work I think.
How long have you had them? I got these WheelGuard lug nuts to replace the crappy stock lug nuts on my 2011 Fusion Sport around 1.5 years ago and they're already rusting. Needless to say, I think I'd rather have the crappy stock lug nuts than rusting ones, but I threw them away when I moved.
If the DP lugs hold up, I may try those.

You can get one from amazon for just over $12
My point was more along these lines
McGard 64015 Chrome/Black Bulge Cone Seat Style Lug Nuts (M12 x 1.5 Thread Size) - Set of 4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000COS0H4?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

These are the most "OEM" style.
The OEM black lugs and locks are so overpriced. I went with black vinyl caps. Same effect for way cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBB09MX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000COS0H4?selectObb=used&th=1 not sure if these are the right size but they were mentioned with some other purchasers of these wheels
It happens to everyone pretty much. There is a class action lawsuit that you can google and join if you really want to. You want something like this:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N459459/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1#customerReviews
They will rust and look like crap fairly quickly if you are in a northern state, but for the price difference you can replace them 3-4 times vs. the aluminum capped ones.
I put these on my 2017 WK2 Trailhawk and they look great. If yours are conical shaped they should fit.
Total, after installation, including tires/wheels/install fees/tax/etc, everything came out to just over $1,100, but could be $30 cheaper because I got new Gorilla lug nuts (fuck the stock, tin covered ones).
They look even better in person! I got a set of black McGard spline drive lugs along with wheel locks. Debated a while on Gorillas and Mutekis, but durability wise, McGard seemed to hold up better compared to the other brands.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006HOVNE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Should probably mention that I only researched brands with locking lug nuts, just to help me sleep better at night.
I'm not sure that these are the exact same fit as yours but they aren't hard to find. A tire shop can probably help you. Those nuts can have better clearance for alloy wheels and maybe to help prevent theft. If you notice the first link has a review with a picture where it broke just like yours so maybe stay away from the first one. Read the description and look at close up pics to make sure you get the right one.

Get something like this, just hammer it on and then use impact Wrench. Very easy to use and at my shop i use it at least once a month.
https://www.amazon.com/Performance-Tool-M980-Emergency-Removal/dp/B000FTN3KK
There are all kinds of kits like https://smile.amazon.com/Performance-Tool-M980-Emergency-Removal/dp/B000FTN3KK/ to remove them. The lock will be destroyed, but if you don't have the key, shouldn't be a problem.
try this

You need one of these bad boys: https://www.amazon.com/POINT-SPLINE-TUNER-LUG-NUT/dp/B006UH66R8
You could use this
21 mm socket
Throw a breaker bar in your cart too, (might be shown in the frequently bought together section). You aren't supposed to use the torque wrench to get the lug nuts off, only to put them on.
These are the exact ones I bought 2 years ago
No longer available on Amazon, but I'm sure you can find equivalent ones.
Here are the ones I bought and they fit:
Amazon Link
I think I just looked up the size of the stock ones and found some with matching thread dimensions.
This is probably the easiest route. Well worth the money
https://www.amazon.com/Performance-Tool-M980-Emergency-Removal/dp/B000FTN3KK
They might work, it depends on the wheels you got. When I got new wheels for my car, the stock lug nuts were too wide.
So i got these instead, and they look really good.
https://www.amazon.com/McGard-65554BK-Chrome-SplineDrive-Installation/dp/B0006HOVNE/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1473989617&sr=1-1&keywords=McGard+65554BK+Chrome%2FBlack+SplineDrive+Wheel+Installation+Kit+%28M12+x+1.25+Thread+Size%29+-+For+5+Lug+Wheels
Valve stem should work just fine.
Got it. And yep, you'll just need thinner/'tuner' lugs for the wheels.
Lots of people (including myself) run Gorilla Lugs and have had good experiences. Of course any lugs a shop provides should do just fine as well.

Lug nuts are kind of long and you might not have a good grip with a shallow socket - that could cause rounding of the corners. Here is a 21mm socket.

I went with these on recommendation from several people in this sub. They feel pretty high quality and look great with black wheels.
When mine swelled up (and it’s very common cause it’s just a cap on them) I purchased these and never looked back: McGard 64015 Chrome/Black Bulge Cone Seat Style Lug Nuts (M12 x 1.5 Thread Size) - Set of 4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000COS0H4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_DW0DAbFCCNQ9T
I used these based on recommendations from this sub:
Mcgard 64012
I’m using these, no problem with it.

You can try a lugnut removal tool like this:

The color is definitely a little too bold for most, but here's a link to the lugs.
https://www.amazon.com/CTA-Tools-4221-Socket-18-5mm/dp/B01D4QBH7Q
18.5/19.5mm flip socket for jacked up chrome caps on lugs
Comes in 21.5mm and other sizes too.
Ignoring the basics, this was the first real 'make things easier' tool I bought, specifically for Fords lol.
Get your super basic stuff first tho, but shouldn't need much for what you're starting out as
Good time for you to buy some locking lug nuts to keep those nice new wheels safe, like these: http://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Automotive-21133BC-Diameter-Thread/dp/B001O0AMZS/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1458856094&sr=1-1&keywords=gorilla+lug+nuts
While you probably can still remove them without the key, it won't be without some effort, and it's at least a bit more difficult to remove than the stock bolts.
No issues with these so far. I've probably taken the wheels on and off at least a dozen times already. They're black though and I've only heard bad things about most of the colored ones (of all brands) as far as chipping.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N2K9H1Q/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_HixLDbWYCM4X7
Lug nuts are 12x1.25 from amazon. Just search black lug nuts.
Here you go
Looks to be a 21mm. You can get non-marring sockets. A decent clicker torque wrench with 130 lb-ft in the middle of its range will work for you; be sure to get one that matches your socket (probably 1/2").
These are what I have on my car.
Gorilla Automotive 21133BC Small Diameter Acorn Black 5 Lug Kit (12mm x 1.50 Thread Size) - Pack of 20 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001O0AMZS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_O.NQDbX1GHN1V
I’ve had them since January 2018 (According to my amazon page)
I don’t know if it’s a solid piece or a cap, but the way it’s splined, you don’t get the sheering of the bolt that the OEM ones do.
I haven’t had any issues or warping with mine either, and I take my wheels off often enough rotating them and such.
okay thanks so much for all the info. hard to find all this stuff when you don't have much hands on experience with it lol
so assuming the enkeis use a tapered seat if I went with this set of 12x1.5 lug nuts, the motorsport tech adapters, and then the enkei wheels themselves I should be good to go?
Did your boyfriend post here a few days ago? If he didn't, then someone here came with exactly the same issue, in exactly the same state.

Multiple of us recommended just buying a tool to remove the wheel locks off. They're on Amazon, and if you're gentle about them you can return them and just say they didn't work. With prime you could've had them off by now, and your car fixed.

I get you, it's frustrating. But for the future, if your car has locking wheel nuts then make sure that they key is always returned back. I never leave a dealer without checking if I know the wheels have been off. I honestly don't see Kia paying for this, as it would be by word that the dealer lost your key. You are responsible after all.

This could've been solved, with a purchase on Amazon or another site in 2 days. Or you could've just found someone who works on wheels that was willing to come out and remove them. I'm sure even in remote upstate NY, you would've found someone.

Gorilla makes a good product as well but I don't think they make red.
lug size is M12 x 1.5
lug pattern is 5 x 100
so something like this

I have these and I have had good luck with them. The paint has held up to two seasonal wheel swaps and a round of balancing.
Yes, there are plenty of posts on here about them. I preemptively bought these and they have been just fine: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001O0AMZS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&sa-no-redirect=1
> I tried your 2nd link, https://www.ebay.com/itm/163194228589, meh... not so impressed. The seller sent me a 2nd bottle after I showed him how dark it was compared to stock. The 2nd bottle was a bit better, but not by much.
Thanks! That's exactly the input I was looking for. The eBay seller actually also replied to me overnight with the following
>To be honest we are not too sure on the US Spec models.
I did do some research and found out that even though the US and Euro Rado Grays were supposed to be the same, they may have been slightly different since its allegedly a very hard color to mix. Also found the paint code for Rado Gray, but I can only find one reference to it anywhere on the web, and it happens to be Color N Drive (same kit as the Amazon link in my OP). I may actually give that one a try. Will report back if I decide to do it.
As for lug nuts, I am planning on ditching the OEM ones. Currently I'm using the set that came with my steelies from Tire Rack and just got this set of black Gorilla lug nuts for when I go back to summers.

28.99 on Amazon, for a set that will fit on most if not all common lock nuts. Round, square, doesn't matter. They have a tapered left hand thread on the inside that will just eat into the locking nut as you screw them on. All tire shops have those because owners lose their lock nut keys, plus they work on stripped nuts as well.
If they don't fit because of your rim, a few good blows with a sharp screwdriver or chisel and a hammer can probably loosen the locking nuts as well. The key shape on them actually helps to get good purchase with the chisel
Tldr: park near a tall curb
plastic? in your dreams.. these things are murder weapons
