Sword displays could be used to display brooms, as well. They also make things for bats, and you could also just get a couple of wooden hooks.

> 3x-4x longer than a kitchen knife

"The blades are 18cm long" and "approximately 25cm long" seems very, very short for a sword. 30cm total, 20cm blade isn't unusual (or even large) for a kitchen knife.

If you meant inches, not cm, OK, that's about twice the size of a kitchen knife. A magnetic strip might still work OK. A peg rack will work fine for a longer blades, too. But the easy solution is to get a tabletop or wall-mount twin katana stand/rack. If your blades are 18" long, racks that work for a wakizashi will work for them.

> Are there any specific tips that I should know about making a small stand, as to not damage the sword edge?

If the blades are single-edged, sit them in the rack edge-up. If you do that, even steel hooks or nails are fine. If double-edged, wooden pegs are good.

I like these vertical wall mounts: https://www.amazon.com/Hanger-Sword-Medieval-Arming-Dagger/dp/B01MXVADIU/ref=pd_day0_200_5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=00VBBVFRR6YKQ0K1KTD8

Works great for medieval european swords, and yes it should be fine to hold them long term. I use them for many of my swords

Horizontal mounts usually hold the sword by the blade portion with handle hanging off one end. So you are correct in your assumption.

Most of the sword hangers you get online are cheap pressboard. If you want something truly nice, you may wan to build it yourself... it's a pretty easy thing to do.

Edit: also mounting swords horizontally is usually done on the spine of the sword for single edge blades like sabers or katanas(edge pointing up).

Looks like he has a similar one to what I use.

Honestly, wouldn't recommend it though, as you can see from his picture the handles are too thick to fit in the slots so they just kind of end up sitting on top.

It’s just a cheap one off of Amazon. It’s just pressboard, but it seems sturdy enough. Trademark 20-WS8W 8 Piece Wall Stand Display Rack https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B001R16TYM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Ob12Cb76B1GK7

I personally have this since I have several swords. https://www.amazon.com/Rite-Edge-SZ926679-SWORD-FLOOR/dp/B001DMX506/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1474654825&sr=8-16&keywords=sword+stand

However you can find more of all shapes and sizes with a simple amazon search. Personally I don't buy expensive sword stands simply because the basic ones work just fine for me. If I had an albion or a Christian fletcher my tune may change but for my sub 400 dollar swords these work fine. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_s?k=sword+stand

I am currently using one of these...i thought I was going a little overboard leaving room for extra swords....but by the time I got it with my Shinai and Bokken it was full from day 1. Its really simple nothing fancy and definitely not a "nice" wood. BUT it gets the job done very well and looks hella cool.

I mounted my claymore broadsword with something like this. It hangs vertically and looks great.

Without knowing what you envision its hard to say.

I used guitar wall hangers at one point, but recently have just downgraded to screws in the wall for the same purpose. In my defense they're thick screws and put into solid wood, not cheap drywall. This looks nice for my stuff, but I don't own a katana and the guards on my stuff aren't rounded.

I assume you'll want to mount it horizontally, which is where you're probably running into trouble because nobody sells those for walls. Plenty of horizontal sword rests meant for placement on the ground though, those things are everywhere.

Here are the couple I found:

If you want it to look nice you could just make it yourself, all you need is a sturdy wall, some shaped wood holders and some screws.

Do you mean something like this (in shape)?
