-Boppy with cover

For Mom:

  • To wear in the hospital: a nursing gown and a robe

  • To wear home: stretchy maternity pants , casual nursing shirt , nursing bra, undies.

  • Makeup mirror. I found that I didn’t want to stand for long periods of time after the birth so I am bringing a small makeup mirror this time so I can put some makeup on in bed after a shower.
  • Toiletries bag: tooth brushes, toothpaste, q-tips, Tylenol (for husband), mouth wash, chapstick, Lanolin.
  • Makeup bag: makeup wipes, face wash, moisturizer, concealer, mascara, blush, powder.
  • Water bottle
  • Extra long phone charger

    For Husband:
  • For hospital: basketball shorts, shirt, underwear, socks.
  • To go home: shirt, shorts.
  • Snack bag: trail mix, protein bars, mixed nuts, crackers, 5hr energy drink.

    For Baby:
  • For most of the hospital stay I plan to have him in just a crossbody snap top , diaper, and a swaddle. This makes for easy skin-to-skin and diaper changes.
  • Going home outfit: crossbody top, matching pants, Hat, Socks
  • Two summer hats for our July babe. One to wear in hospital and one to wear home

The hospital will have these really sexy mesh underwear. Take them. Take them all. Ask for more while you are there and take those too. They will also have the monster pads for your postpartum bleeding. Same for those as well.

I second the comfy pillows and anything else you need for sleep. The hospital beds are the worst.

I ended up getting my own hospital gown (I had been planning a vaginal birth) and I really loved that for surgery and the night/day after. The snaps up the back gave me more coverage/comfort than the ones they have there. Plus they came in cute prints. I also really liked these nursing nightgowns. They were perfect once I changed out of the gown and I still love them at home.

Speaking of showers, they will typically provide little sample versions of shampoos and soaps but I really liked that I brought my own just because it made me feel a little more human. Maybe bring a couple towels if you have room. The ones they had in my room were really sad.

Not that you asked but I will recommend walking early and often. It won’t be fun, but you’ll heal so much faster! Also ask if you can bring a speaker into surgery. We picked a few songs to play for baby’s birth and it was just magic.

Good luck, mama! Can’t wait for you to meet your little one!

I delivered my di/di’s as a double whammy at 27+3. My c-section was an emergency to have baby b out.

My advice is: make sure to pack a robe. Not a long thick one, but one that is light and stops above your knees. You will not want to wear pants, trust me.

Edit: This is the exact one I ordered for myself. It was perfect!

My favorite item to recommend is a short, lightweight robe! Short makes it easier to sleep in, to get in and out of bed, and to feed the babies.

I bought this one on Amazon and it was perfect! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B017M51YOG/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_inactive_ship_o0_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You probably don't need to get anything, but it sure is convenient and something you can keep an eye out for sales. I skipped the nursing clothing and just got the bras and tanks and then layered more weather appropriate clothes in top. Cardigans and full zip hoodies are your friend if this is what you want to do. Also, stretchy scoop neck tops are usually great too, but it will stretch them out so don't use something you actually want to use again.

I had bras and tanks from the Gilligan and OMalley line at Target and they were fine. I'm small chested (30B) and have a long torso and the tanks were a little on the short side for me, especially after a bajillion trips through the dryer. I had a pack of these and they were great for longer torsos. I've already ordered a pack for this time around.

I found bras with no underwire to be more comfortable, and I had one in black and beige and found that to be a sufficient number IF I had enough nursing pads on hand to keep them from getting leaked on between loads of laundry. This was really only a problem the first month or two until I got the hang of it. I also had a few of the "sleeping" bras for around the house, but can imagine those wouldn't be enough for someone larger than me, plus a couple sports bras because I went back to running as soon as I was cleared to do so. I'm buying all new this time around and will probably do roughly the same amount, which was just fine to get me through 17 months of nursing but everything was looking pretty worn out after that length of time.

H&M for jeans and cute sweaters. I don't normally like their jeans or pants but they were the only ones that I tried that were still flattering on my figure. Loved old navy for solid tops. Recently bought nursing tank tops on amazon three pack for $40 and they are working amazing as a nice undershirt while I am 36 weeks but are spandex and would have been awesome at any stage and you can keep wearing them PP. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LC507TK/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought a labor and delivery gown to be more comfortable. It opened in 4 different ways, including the back, front and shoulders for nursing. It was super comfortable and I wore it throughout labor, delivery and the first 12 hours. I then had my mom take it home to wash it and then put it back on the 2nd day. Highly highly recommend.
The one thing I will say is that if you’re having a c section, they said I couldn’t wear the one I had because of the metal snaps. This is the one I have.

For baby, we just had her in a diaper and swaddled so I could do as much skin to skin as possible while nursing.

I had a normal robe, but I bought this dress and I've worn it non stop, home, hospital, out in public. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N96LGXX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_GqDsDb22M1RPD

I like [this] (https://www.amazon.com/Bearsland-Maternity-Sleeveless-Breastfeeding-lightgrayf/dp/B074LHHM35?ref_=ast_sto_dp) Tank top. I wear it with jeans and a sweater now that it’s getting cold. It had easy nursing access and is cute. I also like this I also wear it with a sweater and jeans (Are you sending a theme yet?) I’ve been struggling to fine professional looking nursing tops for when I return to work, but I figure these two will do okay with a blazer.

Good luck!

And I wear a nursing tank top under it so literally no skin shows in it except nipple and surrounding areola lol. Not that I care personally, I also nurse with my boob out in public occasionally but it’s getting cold and the weather screams hoodies lol

I'm not sure where OP got hers, but I have similar ones from Amazon.

I got these nursing nightgowns, mostly because I exclusively pump and got tired of changing into a pumping bra for night pumps. So I started using a clip in accessory which works with any garment with nursing clips. The bra part is supportive enough to help with the heaviness/soreness, but not too tight or restrictive. The fabric is weird, super synthetic and I wish it was softer. But it's the best nursing clip nightie I've found and it works just fine!

i actually really like having nursing tops, especially in summer. i live in texas and i can't do the two shirt method for like 5-6 months out of the year. i really like these tanks , this tank, these for sleeping in, and these are ok. i think i'd rather get these if i end up getting more. i like the way the smallshow ones lift up as opposed to the motherhood maternity ones that are a side opening.

This is going to sound absurd but look on amazon. Specifically at the “boho maternity photo dresses”. Many brides have begun using these inexpensive and super cute dresses as wedding dresses because of the price and style.
This one in particular has pictures and reviews of brides using the dress for their big day! I’m even considering it!

Cute! Thanks.

I am also size 18/20 and lost a bunch of weight during the first half of my pregnancy. I bought this robe from Amazon. It fits nicely over my bump (I'm currently 38 wks) and is very comfortable.

I’ve been living in these since my daughter was born 9 days ago. I also had a c-section and these are easy to slip on and off, they have snaps on the shoulders to make breast feeding easy, and they are super soft and cozy.

For the price, they're pretty good. I have a ton of these nursing tops and I love them (I'm wearing one right now actually). I had my first baby in 2016 and wore them frequently during the warmer Texas months for 2017 and 2018. I had a baby in April and am back to wearing them. I toss them in the washer and dryer with my normal clothes and they have held up well.

They are cute and allow you to be discrete while nursing- I don't have to use a cover because the layers cover just enough. . Perfet for summer weather. I also love this dress- same concept with the tops. This dress also has pockets which I really like. I get tons of compliments whenever I wear the tops or the dress. I'm probably going to buy another one of the dresses soon.
