TVP fried up with Taco Bell seasoning, Serious Eats Vegan Nacho Cheese Sauce, Tofutti's Better than Sour Cream - - These we SO good, and totally indistinguishable from their non-vegan counterpart!

Recipe edit: As far as assembly goes, take one XL sized flour tortilla, microwave for like 20 sec so it's just pliable without tearing, then layer nacho cheese sauce, taco 'meat', crispy corn tortilla, vegan sour cream, shredded iceberg lettuce and diced roma tomatoes. Fold up the sides to be hexagonal then fry each side (folded side down first) on med heat for ~2 min or until golden brown and crispy. Pairs well with Mountain Dew

hold. the. phone. they make tapatio SEASONING?!

edit: THEY MAKE TAPATIO SEASONING

u/Zombie_Lover · 14 pointsr/Cooking

And sometimes an acidic element. Sometimes something is just too rich, but still lacking something even if well salted. A tiny squeeze of lemon or lime can often brighten it and release a much more complex flavor profile. I keep a jar of Tajin around just for this situation. It really comes in handy.

u/DarkGamer · 12 pointsr/foodhacks

If you want someone else to prepare it:

Fish is one of those foods that is amazing when done well and fresh, and gets really bad really fast as quality declines. My advice is to go to a fancy restaurant or somewhere that moves a lot of seafood. Like a fish grill. Don't order it at a steak joint or a place that has one seafood option. I love salmon, trout, & prawn. Maybe try some fish tacos, some bagels with lox, or some clam chowder. If there's some dish you already like, see if there's a seafood substitution option. If you like that, there's more exotic seafood that's yummy, like sushi!

If you want to prepare it yourself, this is my fav:

Get a salmon filet, defrost it. Cover it with this magic spice mix, broil it on the top rack skin side up until the skin is crispy and just barely blackened. Really easy, really healthy, really tasty.

u/nocontactnotpossible · 11 pointsr/1200isplenty

Jicama is a root veggie that is similar in texture and taste to a cross between a pear, apple, and potato.

The skin peels off effortlessly and it's easy to cut and fun to eat!

It's only 38 calories and 9carbs per 100g. I like to eat it with sliced cucumber and a sprinkling of tajin seasoning which is lime juice, salt, and chili pepper-not spicy but very flavorful.

u/godfetish · 9 pointsr/ketorecipes

Carnitas. I love Carnitas.

Bone-in pork roast, shoulder or something else. Pick a fatty piece, bone isn't nec essary, but I think it does taste better when slow cooked with the bone.

One packet of http://www.amazon.com/Goya-Foods-Culantro-Achiote-1-41-Ounce/dp/B008BRLNAA/ref=pd_sbs_gro_2 for every 2 pounds (per kilo)
If I use the packet without cilantro/cumin I will add some.
Then some extra garlic powder, black pepper and ground red pepper to taste - I use about 1tsp each.
Use your best judgement on how much water to add to prevent burning...don't make it float, my cooker doesn't steam at all, so I add about 1.5 cups water to cook on high for 6 or 8 hours, then it is on warm till I eat at 6 or 7 pm.

Wrap in lettuce the cooked and tender meat, add guac, sour cream, cheese, jalepenos like a taco, or just eat the meat and a small side of refried beans with letuce on the side in place of tortillas. For my wife who is not on keto, I will get out the cast iron griddle and toast some corn tortillas.

u/TalleyZorah · 7 pointsr/FoodPorn

Here, this will help, too... We put Tajin on everything! Use it in place of the chili powder (though chili is still fine). Cotija cheese can be found at any latino store, and sometimes at international markets. Parmesan isn't that different, so don't fret if you can't find it. Cotija is slightly more mild than parmesan, but definitely in the same family.

u/RishFush · 7 pointsr/sex

I'll do my "fighter's meal". It's what I eat before I go to my Muay Thai class.

Avocado with this stuff on it. 2 Roma tomatoes with lemon juice on them. Some slices of Havarti cheese. A banana. A protein shake (milk and this stuff). Multivitamin, fish oil, vitamin D. And a whole lot of water throughout.

That'll give me a high, constant energy level for the next 4 hours. If I start getting tired or hungry, I'll devour one of these.

The main goal is healthy fats, fiber, protein, and no processed foods. That'll give you a nice steady energy source with no crashes and no foggy brain.

Micheladas:

u/NextFlightHome · 6 pointsr/foodhacks

I use Tajin on almost everything. It's a Mexican chili/lime seasoning. Maybe what you crave?

u/Anniemaldanger · 5 pointsr/MealPrepSunday

I used 3/4 of a packet of taco seasoning from Trader Joes. Warning... it was extremely spicy. Baked the chicken breasts at 400 degrees for about 25-30 mins.

u/Chagrinnish · 5 pointsr/Iowa

Why would you buy an oz package of taco seasoning when you can get a 24oz container for $6.

Yeah OK that escalated a bit but for some reason I get triggered by people buying the individual packets.

u/AmyLynn4104 · 4 pointsr/EatCheapAndHealthy

Sliced up with a sprinkling of Tajin. Just the cukes or add some mango & jicama.

u/SoManyTrolls5-0 · 3 pointsr/TopSecretRecipes

Skip a few steps and get this. You'll need to add heat, but it's close.

Taco Bell is pretty much the food that I crave when I'm overseas for a long time. According to google you have some choices:

Take a trip: There are Taco Bells in Singapore, Philippines, South Korea and Guam.

Build a time machine: Taco Bell used to be in Australia, but after failing to understand why it's awesome, the Aussies gave it the boot.

Make it at home: http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/taco-bell-home-originals-2-step-tacos-57734.aspx

Amazon has the mix http://www.amazon.com/Taco-Bell-Seasoning-1-Ounce-Pack/dp/B007W16G3U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382480001&sr=8-1&keywords=TACO+BELL%C2%AE+Taco+Seasoning+Mix

This may be the only viable way.

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/Cheese

I cannot recommend this stuff highly enough.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000CDBQS/

u/thatguyonthecouch · 3 pointsr/GifRecipes

Most of the stuff in this gif can be eyeballed, but my guess based from experience is roughly: 1lb beef, 1 medium size onion, 1 jalapeno, 1-2 cloves of garlic, salt, pepper, chili powder, and cumin to taste (you can play with the spices or just use taco seasoning).

u/throwdemawaaay · 3 pointsr/Cooking
u/Super_Bob · 3 pointsr/keto

Everyone else has pretty much covered the basics so I'll suggest a few other items I don't see already. I always have on hand:

  • Canned salmon & tuna
  • Extra Virgin Olive oil
  • Lemon juice + Lime juice for homemade salad dressings, lime juice is also good for keeping avocados green
  • Spices - may not seem obvious but over time your taste buds will change and having some good spice on hand can help when you start getting bored of all that meat. I always have Tabasco, smoked paprika, Italian herb blend, fresh garlic & granulated garlic (or powdered), fresh black pepper (to grind), and sea salt.
  • Spice blends are nice but be sure to check the label as many contain sugar. My favorite - Paul Prudhommes Meat Magic, it's awesome. In fact all of Prudhomme's Magic blends are really good, I also use his Poultry, Seafood, and Vegetable blends. Meat Magic is so good I use it as a BBQ rub, cheaper to buy it in the 24 oz canister from Amazon. (only the Salmon Magic has sugar so can't use that on keto, it's also really good however)
  • Pork (shoulder, loins, tenderloin, chops), cheap and very easy to grill or cook in oven or slow cooker
  • Beef roasts (all kinds, basically the cheaper cuts), soooo easy to cook as with pork above and can last for several meals. I also occasionally make my own hamburger in a food processor, Alton Brown has a good method, (try it, you'll be amazed how much better it tastes than store bought ground beef)
u/floppywanger · 3 pointsr/Cooking

Carne adovada huevos rancheros. Make your red Chile using hatch Chile pods. These are the pods.

u/Egon_Loeser · 3 pointsr/hotsauce

The chili lime spice is basically Tajin, which is what all the fruit carts in LA use. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000GL6RK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_N7AACbMQ1H2DN

u/emilbusman · 3 pointsr/EatCheapAndHealthy

Every now and then, Aldi has some really delicious frozen salmon. I also highly recommend this salmon seasoning

u/SangersSequence · 3 pointsr/foodhacks

Oh my god. I need this in my life.

They also have a Habanero version!

u/m2cwf · 2 pointsr/rage

Protip: Highly recommend Tajin seasoning for bloody Mary/Caesar rimjob. Good stuff!

u/KidCadaver · 2 pointsr/Wishlist

This stuff. ("Ground chile peppers, salt and dehydrated lime juice.") They were offering sample packs of it yesterday in Adventureland, and I always get a giant pickle while I'm there, so the woman was like "Trust me. Put the chili mix on the pickle."

Oh my god it's so fucking delicious I could cry. I immediately bought a huge thing of it at our grocery store this morning, along with two massive jars of pickles, and let's be real they'll be gone by tonight.

u/ScribblerJack · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Mathematical! :-D This please? - They stopped selling a salt candy that I used to eat as a kid and this is the alternative. Craving it so hard!

u/binkkit · 2 pointsr/keto

Get a bottle of Tajín for your avocado-eating pleasure. It's bangin' on eggs, too.

u/BlessMeWithSight · 2 pointsr/EatCheapAndHealthy

My go to recipe for tacos/burritos is:
Get some taco seasoning from Costco: https://www.costco.com/McCormick-Taco-Seasoning-Mix%2C-Premium%2C-24-oz.product.100441577.html Or Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/McCormick-Premium-Taco-Seasoning-24/dp/B005IVPFV0 This will last you months.
For proteins, I grab some cheap chicken thighs, usually find them at less than $2 a pound at my local market and I debone them myself. Marinate the chicken in the taco seasoning, some sea salt, parika, and cumin. Let it marinate over night and throw those thighs on a frying pan and cut them up. For my salsa, I just use tomatoes, lettuce, corn, onions, and a squirt of lime. For a burrito, I figure you can just throw some beans/rice according to what you like. It's pretty cheap, comes around to $15 and will last you a day and left overs.

u/SereneWisdom · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon
u/Skyxz · 2 pointsr/funny

Well I guess this could work
Just get your dick wet first and sprinkle this on your Johnson.

u/jofijk · 2 pointsr/Cooking

Also, eating the ripe mango with some of this stuff sprinkled on top is absolutely delicious.

u/Vinaka · 2 pointsr/AskReddit

Quesadilla with Cheese, Green Onions, and Tajin!

u/plaitedlight · 2 pointsr/veganrecipes

Hummus is great to dip all kinds of raw veggies in, especially cucumber.

How about lime juice and salt. Or Tajin.

Or Ssamjang Korean Seasoned Soybean paste

u/encab91 · 2 pointsr/FoodPorn

If you can get SazonGoya Culantro y Anchiote. It'll be in an orange box in most small Latino food markets, bodegas, and even some big brand supermarkets. Looks like this https://www.amazon.com/Goya-Sazon-Culantro-Achiote-1-41-Ounce/dp/B008BRLNAA

u/i12burs · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Have you guys tried these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00474HOKE

They are amazing! I put them on potatoes... Salad... Really anything I can get away with :p

u/Refrigerizer · 2 pointsr/keto

If you have a Trader Joe's near you try their taco seasoning. It's somewhere between 6g and 12g of carbs for the entire packet. (Total Carbs: 1g, Fibre: <1g, Sugar: <1g per serving, 12 servings per packet) On top of that I can actually identify all of the ingredients listed, so it's my go to.

Side Note: The Amazon price does not reflect the actual in-store price.

u/roxilox · 2 pointsr/ketorecipes

I don't know if this will help lazy people like me, but I found no sugar/no starch taco seasoning from Primal Palate

https://www.amazon.com/Primal-Palate-Organic-Spices-Seasoning/dp/B01IFO9L20

It tastes similar to the extra spicy taco seasoning packets. Making your own is great (and probably cheaper)! But if you are like me and just don't feel like it, I like this one a lot. I feel like it's pretty strong too. I don't need as much of it compared to the stuff with sugar.

u/No_volvere · 2 pointsr/Albany

You won't be disappointed. The tajin is the most important part IMO. I throw some in the glass as well as the rim, You can get it at Walmart in the Hispanic Foods section.

u/mattjeast · 2 pointsr/Cooking

Tis the season for watermelon/cantaloupe/honeydew with some trechas on it.

u/alainagris · 2 pointsr/EatCheapAndHealthy

Tajin seasoning! Cut up your banana and sprinkle on top. I also like my bananas cold.

Most vendors will also use this. It’s used throughout Mexico.

Here’s the amazon link, but they sell them at target and most grocery stores.

Tajin seasoning

u/0six0four · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Oh that Tajin Fruit and Snack Seasoning Haven't had that in so long! I would recommend it to everyone!

u/nineknives · 1 pointr/Coachella

Tajin powder is mostly crushed peppers, salt, and citrus. It's the slightly spicy, somewhat salty chili powder rim they put on red beer/michelada. It really peps up a mellow Mexican beer.

u/CassieLane · 1 pointr/xxfitness

I put Tajin on basically everything. I'm not sure why it's so expensive on Amazon though, it's like 2 bucks at Kroger. Regardless, it's amazing and makes everything from egg whites to salad taste 100x better.

u/boundone · 1 pointr/Cooking

Just about every grocery store has this in the spice or the Mexican section:

https://www.amazon.com/Taj%C3%ADn-Cl%C3%A1sico-Seasoning-5-oz/dp/B0000GL6RK

u/reddexx · 1 pointr/Stronglifts5x5

Never heard of Old Bay, thanks I'll check it out. If you haven't heard of it, try Tajin seasoning on your fruits/vegs to make them amazing.

u/HR7-Q · 1 pointr/news

Fuck all that salt nonsense. Get yourself some of this tasty shit and go full on Mexican with your watermelon. Also, I'd recommend getting it from a farmer's market or roadside seller rather than the supermarket.

u/born_again_atheist · 1 pointr/food

I like to sprinkle a little Tajin Fruit and Snack Seasoning on it as well.

u/Zombies_Are_Dead · 1 pointr/food

Add some Tajin to that and see heaven. If you want some heat, try Tajin w/ habanero.

u/zombiegirl2010 · 1 pointr/steroids

I really like this: Tapatio Salsa Picante Mexican Seasoning | No MSG, Gluten Free, Vegan and Keto Friendly | 0 Calories | 2 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H5STD4D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_-tZnDb5H34F6G

Or if you don’t want to buy something like that (and that’s much cheaper in the store if you can find it)...cook the tilapia in butter and then season with salt, pepper, a little cayenne, paprika and garlic.

u/bubbo · 1 pointr/entwives

I do thin sliced avocado on top of the mayo. I always debate putting lettuce on a sandwich because of the barrier effect. Sometimes the mayo to tomato to avocado to cheese rainbow is pretty delicious.

How do you feel about multiple meats?

Also [this](http://www.amazon.com/Tajin-Fruit-Snack-Seasoning-5-7/dp/B0000GL6RK0] between mayo and tomato is delicious.

It's hard to make links at {6]

u/Brewmd · 1 pointr/Disneyland

Yup. I bought them on amazon.

Tajín Clásico Seasoning Mini Display 0.35 oz (pack of 10) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CFT8HUY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_26rHDbXZNF1SA

u/frequencity · 1 pointr/keto

The TJ seasoning I see online is ~12g carbs per pack, but here's the link on Amazon in case you're interested in trying it :)

u/p8ntslinger · 1 pointr/CampfireCooking

Sazon Goya con Azafran is amazing. Old Bay is awesome, as is most any Cajun style seasoning- Tony Chachere's, Slap Ya Mama. TexJoy is also delicious and Tajin as well.

But salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and cumin will work magic too.

Adding in a jar dried holy trinity (Cajun mirepoix) base makes good stuff too- onions, celery, and green bell peppers.

u/Ounceofwhiskey · 1 pointr/4hourbodyslowcarb

Breakfast and dinner can both be fairly simple meat/veggie/beans. If you're staying at a single campsite and have coolers to store your food, anyways. Beans can be come from cans or you can pack them dry and soak them the night before somewhere at your site and cooked in a pot over the fire. Carrots, zucchini, broccoli, and other veggies can be stored and kept fresh and are easy enough to grill. The carrots and zucchini can also be used in kebabs with sweet peppers and chicken or steak.

Lunch isn't as easy in my head. An insulated lunch bag with deli meat or cold, cooked chicken and snacking veggies like carrot sticks, cucumber, etc tossed with Tajin or something similar.

u/narcolepticnuc · 1 pointr/AskCulinary

https://www.amazon.com/Trechas-Seasoning-Fruits-Vegetables-6-4oz/dp/B00CNF75K8

This isn't exactly that but is close. Great on fruit, too.

Amazon, love this 3-pack. Super nice company, they emailed me for feedback and when I mentioned I was using them for chilli, he sent me his favorite recipe!

u/dsmaxwell · 1 pointr/AskMen

Potato toppers, butter, salt, pepper, maybe some sour cream, bacon if I have any, and cheddar if I'm in the mood.

u/sonic_knx · 1 pointr/AskAnAmerican

Just do some simple nachos!

Choose and prepare your meat:
Ground beef (simply oil pan, add ground beef, season with taco seasoning, mash up into tiny pieces (as it cooks), cook till brown. If no seasoning is available, order some online! Or make it)

Pork (thinly cut, follow this recipe for pork preparation)

Chicken (shred with forks, do not ground. Use same taco seasoning mix as ground beef)

Cheese:

USA has lots of premixed and pre-grated bags of "Mexican blend" cheese available. If you do not have the blend, buy some sharp cheddar, monterey jack (pepper jack is good too) and asadero (if possible), grate, and mix.

Chips:

Normal tortilla chips if you can wing it. If not you'll have to make your own like a real Mexican restaurant.
Follow this guide to make your own

Salsa:

Depending on your palate, I would suggest following the recipe in this thread that calls for 5 gallons of the stuff and scale that down. As far as cilantro (coriander), roll them like a newspaper (loosely) and thinly slice as to not bruise. (I keep the stems in mine. It adds to the flavor but it can be annoying to some people, or look less presentable. Up to you.)

Optional garnishes:

Sour cream, guacamole, refried beans

Vege garnishes: diced onions, diced tomatoes, diced bell peppers, sliced jalapeno (nick some of the seeds out for a milder spice), extra cilantro

Microwave method:

On a microwavable plate, layer chips and heavy spread the grated cheese to cover a good portion of the surface. You may add another layer of chips and cheese. Melt cheese (30-45s). Add meat and beans on top. Add vegetable garnishes in no particular order. Then add salsa/guac/sour to the top or in a bowl. Eat!

Oven method:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Layer chips onto a cookie sheet. Cover in cheese, meat, beans, cook for 5 minutes. Pull out, garnish, and serve.

Have fun trying to keep your fingers clean :)

Sorry if this recipe is erratic, I've never written one lol.

u/CQME · 0 pointsr/GifRecipes

> With that prepackaged stuff it does add a lot of salt and other things unnecessary things.

IMHO this is "taco seasoning" (this is the 5 star brand on Amazon!!). Note the ingredients:

  • Wheat, Flour, Salt, Dried Garlic, Maltodextrin, Chili Peppers, Spice, Dried Onions, Monosodium Glutamate, Paprika, Sugar, Contains less than 2% of Silicon Dioxide As An Anticaking Agent, Soybean Oil, Malic Acid.

    Silicon Dioxide...yum.

edit - never knew that wheat flour would be a primary "seasoning" ingredient either.
