Lightwash Jeans - $15 w/ Club Cali Code

Grand Total = $188, with room left for shipping. (I didn't include the H&M 20% off code so this could be a bit cheaper)

Edit: Also, thrifting and a tailor/sewing machine is a great alternative to the jeans. You can make this $20 cheaper by thrifting a pair of jeans and bringing them to a tailor ($8+) or having your moms taper it (priceless). With that $20, another good piece would probably be a layering piece like a camo jacket.

German army field jackets are pretty popular in surplus stores, the cammo pattern looks pretty rad and they’re usually cheaper than the US military gortex tops.

Field Jacket Liner, M-65, Olive Drab--Genuine Military Issue, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006RKV3US/

u/SamWhite · 4 pointsr/whatisthisthing

Looks like a USSR military overcoat, it also at least from the pictures looks quite new, so I'd suspect a replica or 'inspired by' rather than an actual coat from the USSR. If it is genuinely wool then it's probably a pretty decent coat.

If money is an issue you can always go military which is the same exact polartec bologna as everyone else. Doesn’t have the hood though, but you can probably find it for cheaper than the link I just pulled up.

u/Quadly · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Woah, really appreciate the detailed response! You really do utilize the bomber well in a lot of your fits.

I always see the AI slim MA-1 recommended, but the gold zippers and puffiness put me off. I do love the cut of Zara's bomber, but they don't currently have any in black. Killion offered an awesome bomber, but I missed the pre-order... Uniqlo and Gap both discontinued their black bombers. I really just want one with silver zippers and a matte or wool finish.

So currently I've been refreshing Grailed every day, but I still can't find the perfect one for under $150.

A couple other options:

I'm thinking of getting the rothco one, even though it has a fucking stupid name.

Does anyone have experience with the Defender or the Brandit Giant? Over-all thoughts and sizing.

u/defyg · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

That looks like some nonsensical Chinesium clothing.

I was looking for a rugged field coat-like jacket on Amazon previously. I think you can find better quality for a similar price. Check out these options I found: 1 2 3 4

u/Isthishowudoit · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Kind of new to fashion here. I have the following items in my wardrobe and I want to know which are timeless and which are out of style. For the stuff that isn't stylish, can you give me recommendations for alternatives e.g. instead of skinny jeans get less tapered pants etc.

Shoes:

-Clarks Desert Boots - Beeswax

-Stan Smiths ( are minimalist sneakers still in want to get some in black)

-L.L. Bean Engineer boots link

Pants:

-Levi's 512 - Black and Indigo

Outerwear:

-Levi's Sherpa Trucker Jacket - black cordory

-Amazon Goodthreads shirt jacket link In Navy and Khaki

-Jack and Jones Cognac moto jacket link

If I look stupid wearing any of these in 2019 and in the future please let me know! Thanks for the help guys.

One sleeping bag light enough for this is the Recon II Tropical. It compresses literally down to the size of a football.

http://www.elitesurvival.com/sleeping-bags/recon-2-sleeping-bag/

A better option though is see if you can get your hands on a zippered military poncho liner. It's meant to be used as a sleeping bag liner, but I used it all through officer training school on top of my bed so I wouldn't have to make it every day.

A google search found me this

u/PretendsToKnowThings · 1 pointr/frugalmalefashion

I received their MA-1 Flight Jacket in Sage Green as a gift last year and love it. I'm 6'0" and 165 lbs with a long torso. Mine is a size medium and the arms fit me well but the torso is a bit short.

At the time Alpha Industries didn't sell a slim fit version, but they do now so I'm picking up both a medium and a large through Amazon using the code HOLLYJOLLY mentioned in another comment and I'll return whichever one doesn't fit and sell my old normal one on Craigslist or something.

u/katarokkar · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I am torn between two bomber jackets that I've narrowed down. The Alpha Industries Men's MA-1 Slim Fit Flight Bomber Jacket and the Levi's Men's Ma-1 Flight Jacket. Both look awesome from the pictures and ratings but I would love to know if anyone here has had any experience with either of them. I'm partial to slim fits rather than the poofy jackets they traditionally come it.

Any input would be welcome. Thanks everybody.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

one option would be a German Flecktarn parka with a liner. The parkas by themselves aren't super warm, but the liner should make it warm enough.

u/SurfAfghanistan · 1 pointr/MilitaryGear

I've been wearing this softshell for 2 years. Its not super heavy, but it's pretty weather proof. I don't know what your location is but if you don't normally expect a ton a bad weather then you might want to consider this jacket. I've had a good experience with this jacket. I will say that the hood is really large, so it folds up weird. I've heard other people have had issues with the zippers.

I have the rothco one as well. Look at my reply to wags for photos. It's not a bad jacket. Worth what you pay for it.

Found this through google. They're kinda tough to find. Maybe look on ebay for an old M65 jacket, or a surplus store.

FYI slightly cheaper on Amazon

I copped one earlier this year, sleeves are pretty puffy, but I like the way it fits.
