I don't have Bluetooth built into my 2007 Honda, but I still listen to Music via Bluetooth in my car. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018E0I01I/ Can either plug it in via 3.5mm audio or use the FM transmitter if you don't have a jack in your car.

Had Bluetooth in my car without it being built in for a decade or more. It's really a non-issue.

i know this doesn't solve the reason it's not on the controller, but i bought this and it works really well https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B4W40VC/

I gotchu fam. I have one on the way I'll let you know how it works. I've used one that only has 3.5mm in and it was fine.

Apple is still retarded, my car has bluetooth and I have an android, it's as a gift for someone who has a car without AUX or bluetooth

u/Slowmyke · 25 pointsr/GooglePixel

Personally, the lack of a headphone jack annoys me a fair amount. It's manageable, but i haven't bought any adapters for it and i find myself wanting to listen to things at work when i need to be charging the phone. Better planning for charging my phone (i usually don't bother until I'm at work) or like i said, buying an adapter would help the issue. It's annoying that i need to spend money to solve a problem created by a crappy design choice in the first place, but the options are cheap enough i suppose.

In your case, something like this car Bluetooth adapter should solve your problem for less than $20. The one I've linked has a ton of decent reviews, so i think it should be a safe bet. The bottom line is the lack of a headphone jack is annoying and stupid. But overall it's a good phone and it's manageable enough that you can overlook the stupid shortcoming.

Edit: spend a few more bucks and get what u/funmonkeydisease suggested below instead. It'll probably sound better/clearer.

u/LDXIV · 24 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Check this one out. I haven't bought it but going to pretty soon.

My suggestion stands, some adapters support two headphones at the same time.

This is the one I bought and it supports two.

Here is the updated one I have.
http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-FM-MOD02-Universal-Modulator-Satellite/dp/B001QBG614

I have had it for ten years across 2 cars.

Looks like the new version comes with a switch, which is useful because the device sorta blocks out all other radio (I have to pull the fuse to listen to radio).

u/dotVillain · 17 pointsr/videos

I drove all the way from L.A. to Phoenix on a single station (105.3) using my Bluetooth FM transmitter. I used to have one where I would have to scan every 20 miles or so. The quality of these transmitters are definitely hit or miss.

Here's the one I have:

u/Tyjames48 · 16 pointsr/Android

This may do a little more than what you want but it has great reviews. You can choose Bluetooth or aux and still be able to charge the phone.

u/ihazhands · 16 pointsr/audible

Just buy an fm adapter that you can plug into the cigarette lighter and connect that to your phone and tune your radio and the adapter to whatever station has the least amount of static and off you go. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00URUJWPW/ref=mp_s_a_1_3/137-8969940-3819927?ie=UTF8&qid=1501520281&sr=1-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&dpPl=1&dpID=41c1ZvvylBL&ref=plSrch should work just fine for you.

u/cocoagiant · 15 pointsr/whatcarshouldIbuy

I would look for Kia Souls or Honda Fits. At your price point, those are the two likeliest candidates. Both can carry tons of stuff, decent mpg, and pretty reliable. Especially if you can drive a manual transmission, but their automatics are fine too.

You should be able to find something within under 75,000 miles at that price.

I think both have Bluetooth, but if they don't, just get a Bluetooth transmitter. This is the one I use (https://www.amazon.com/Nulaxy-Wireless-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Smartphones/dp/B018E0I01I) and it works better than the built in version in some of my friends' cars.

u/Schedulator · 13 pointsr/onebag

Get yousrself one of these (or similar):

u/plamplapla · 13 pointsr/GalaxyS7

I'm your guy, I've tried tons of these. I have two setups that I can recommend.

I recommend this one the most, it's been the best and most reliable for quite some time for me. Sound quality is great. Also, it has bluetooth, which works great. Just a tip, use the bluetooth and download an app called Android Auto. It's a driving friendly interface that combines your music/podcast apps, navigation, phone app, and Google Voice commands for texts if you need. You can text by voice and it gives you the option to speak your text messages when you get them. You can also set the app to automatically start and shut off when your phone's bluetooth turns on or off.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PPGOC0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Or, this one, really good so far, seems as good as the first but the first is really durable.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AIM5ZE/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here's a tip for the best sound quality out of these if you'll only use your FM transmitter in your car and not the radio. Unscrew the antenna out of your car and toss it in a closet or somewhere. Then a lot of low to medium signal radio stations won't interfere. Which is the cause of like 90% of the bad quality you'll hear.

u/remlek · 12 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

You can use something like this. They work pretty well.

If your car stereo has an aux port you can add a Bluetooth adapter to it for under $20.

Off the top of my head,

Cheap: MEE Audio Air-Fi Matrix 2, $59, aptX support for far better Bluetooth listening than non aptX cans

Not so cheap but quality: Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless, usually $200 but showing as $300 right now? Also supports aptX.

There lots of brands that offer good Bluetooth cans. ATH, Vmoda, sennheiser, AKG, etc.

Now, Bose does have some models that are decent, like the QC35, but they're the exception now a days. It's a real bummer too, I used to buy a ton of Bose stuff. And too bad the market is pretty saturated with mostly fashion cans for Bluetooth. You pay a lot for being pretty.

My Fiat is like that and no, on that system at least there's no way to force it to play music. I ended up plugging this bluetooth to aux adapter in and my phone now pairs with the radio for phone calls and that adapter to stream music.

u/badnamebandit · 9 pointsr/techsupport

You can get a bluetooth Fm transmitter that will plug into your car and allow you to usb charge your phone and play music. Any 2003 car is not going to have the best sound but this will be much better than a cassette converter. Plus you have the added benefit of charging your phone. Here is a link for one on amazon with good reviews.

Even old ass cars have cigarette lighter sockets. So jam in a bluetooth adapter for your phone into one of those that broadcasts out to a radio station you set and listen to your phone.

There are Bluetooth transmitters that he can hook up to that speaker jack (I just bought one for my mother's TV), but they need to be powered. Here's the one I bought. It's big but probably still easily small enough to fit on a motorcycle.

These may help -

(Cassette bluetooth reciever. May be a hassle since it has to be charged)

(Cassette Aux Cable receiver)

You could combine the second piece of hardware with what OP has.

Alternatively, bit more pricey but this is the best option all things considered.

GoGroove FlexSmart. Bluetooth connection to the reciever, and the dongle transmits via radio frequency to the car. You can even charge your phone!

I don’t have any advice for your mother, but some potential tech help regarding your car: you can get AUX to radio adapters, you plug your phone into it then it transmits to an FM station on your radio. I hope this link works

u/Se7enLC · 7 pointsr/AskElectronics

It'll be better than a shitty one, not as good as a nice one.

Have you considered getting an RF modulator instead? It's like a transmitter, but you wire it inline with the antenna input.

The cheap way - Bluetooth > FM transmitter off of Amazon. Works well particularly in more rural areas where there are more open channels. https://www.amazon.com/GOgroove-FlexSMART-Transmitter-Multipoint-Microphone/dp/B003PPGOC0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1523503332&sr=8-3&keywords=flexsmart

This is the one I got a few years ago you could use it as a Bluetooth receiver for your phone and then connect your Aux to it. Personally I went with this version because it had button controls on it but I'm sure there's better versions of this by now.

Bluetooth FM Transmistter

I don't have an AUX port in my car, but I want to listen to my phone audio over my car speakers. So I bought that. My phone pairs its BT to it and it transmits an FM signal. I tune my car radio to that FM signal and can hear the phone's audio now. Neat. I can choose the broadcast frequency too, so I choose 106.7 FM because there's no radio station in my area on that frequency. I'm guessing the broadcast range is like 15-20 feet.

What's weird to me is that if you're listening to the radio, say 100.7 FM, and some nimrod drives by you and you hear their shit, they've chosen to broadcast over an existing frequency in your area rather than finding an unused one. I always assumed I'd get a better signal if I wasn't competing with an actual radio station in my city, so I chose an unused frequency. If you drove by me listening to static on 106.7 FM you'd hear my audiobook once you got close to me.

u/Mikelightman · 7 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I wanted the same thing for my subway ride. I tried to use a BT transmitter but it wasn't reliable. I'd have to re-pair my headphones every time. It's ridiculous that the Switch doesn't support something so basic as BT.

If the radio doesn't have an "AUX" mode, then this really isn't possible to do. Given your car is a 2000, it's highly unlikely an AUX port was even an option.

Two solid alternatives:

  1. Purchase an FM Modulator, like this or this. They're relatively easy to install, and you can probably do it yourself. It basically works like an FM Transmitter, but connects directly into your antenna port for a much cleaner signal. It can also be switched on or off, so you keep full use of your radio.
  2. Purchase an aftermarket head unit. It's certainly cheaper to do an FM Modulator, but upgrading to a good aftermarket head unit will make you happier in the long run. Especially with a stock head unit from 2000, you're bound to start having trouble with it at some point in the near future.

    Hope this helps!

IIRC that’s not to connect any phone, but an apple device in iPod mode.

You can get something like this to add a2dp Bluetooth:

Bovee Bluetooth Car Kit for 2006 BMW E90 - Android and iPhone Music Interface Adaptor for in car iPod Integration (WMA3000B USB / AUX connector) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073W3G5KJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_vO6LBbX0793GW

I didn’t have the Bluetooth module for hands free in my car, nor the USB port. So I opted for this:

Anker SoundSync Drive Bluetooth 4.0 Car Receiver, Wireless Phone Call & Music Streaming Car Kit with Built-in Mic, Music Streaming, Echo and Noise Reduction, Multi-Point Access, 3.5mm Aux Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0176G5TRO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_oT6LBb9XN1PYX

Shame they stopped making this model, but there are similar ones. I like the separate buttons for track selection.
(Single button burns out a lot faster)

There are other ways (from Grom and others) but they were cost prohibitive. And required coding the cd changer into the system.

If you're looking for one of those, I've been pleased with this. It auto-tunes to available frequencies really well. The one con for me is the end of the cigarette adapter plug is very fragile. Mine broke after about a month and they sent me new parts, but they are just as fragile. If you change vehicles often you have to be mindful of the end and make sure it doesn't come unscrewed. Still happy with it.

u/nk1 · 5 pointsr/tmobile

No devices have an FM transmitter built-in but you can buy an external one.

I'd recommend this one. It's a bit quiet but if you max your volume it sounds pretty good.

u/beefbobjones · 5 pointsr/hiphopheads

You try an fm transmitter? Plug it into your phone, choose an un-used station, and your car radio can pick up the signal. Usually they can only transmit on certain frequencies so you need to be careful to choose one that can use thats empty.

RPi is an inexpensive powerful DIY computer (super easy to build) that can be used to make almost anything. Search for "Raspberry Pi Projects" and "Arduino" to get an overview. You can make breadboard circuits and write code to control them, etc. Kits have audio, video, mic, lights, and all kinds of other neat abilities. It's great for intelligent, creative kids (and adults).

With a Pi, you could control the lights in your house to come on when you say a specific word. You can hook up a Pi to interface with your car's computer and make it display detailed data from it. You can turn a Pi into a retro gaming console. You could use it as a media center, accessible from all your TVs. You could turn it into an instrument of you wanted to. Really, it's limitless.

u/umdivx · 4 pointsr/hometheater

This is a several piece system you'd have to get.

First is an HDMI audio extractor then an BT transmitter and if you want to be able to switch between the Roku and the TV tuner you'd then need an HDMI switch.

At that point with all that in place, you honestly would be better off getting a receiver. You can get a cheap receiver, like the Denon S530BT from Accessories4less.com for $150 then pair that with some cheap speakers and you're already better than all that equipment above.

avoid FM transmitters.

They don't work very well. There are lots of ways you can get audio from your phone to your car stereo.

The cheapest way to do it correctly is an FM Modulator, these hook up directly into your car's antenna port. I had this one. Does require removal of the radio to plug into the antenna port, and it needs a power and a ground tapped into. But this way is totally worth it, if you don't want to tackle it yourself, a shop would probably charge about $50 to install it.

I wouldn't ever suggest an FM transmitter because you probably will be constantly fiddling with it while driving due to its un-reliable signal broadcasting, and the cheaper it is, the worse it will be at giving good signal.

Alternatively, the best way to go is just to replace your radio, JVC has a couple of cool inexpensive radios that are under $100, they have USB connectivity for iPods and iPhones, and also have bluetooth for handsfree calling and A2DP streaming (wireless audio streaming). I had one of these in my SVT Focus, it took about 15 seconds after starting the car for the radio to pair with the phone, but it would automatically start playing the last song I had playing in my music app, so there wasn't any fiddling with the phone every time I got in the car.

Edit: THIS is the newer model of the JVC I used to have, sounded really good too. Note that this doesn't have an optical slot.

u/Lord_Zero · 4 pointsr/Android

Im not sure what kind of car he has but I have a CTS and replacing the stereo is no cheap option especially since its my cars control center.

I do have an FM Modulator FMMOD-02 but this thread got me thinking about a bluetooth one. But mine works fine as of now so I cant justify dropping the $70 even for a wireless upgrade. maybe in the future if my next car doesnt have the ability.

u/SomethingDota · 4 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

they aren't as shitty as they used to be since the fcc upped the allowed power and if you get one of these it sounds the same as bluetooth does in a car

u/kc2syk · 4 pointsr/amateurradio

I have a Part 15 FM transmitter that I connect to my phone for use with the car radio. My car is older and doesn't have Bluetooth or an Aux jack. It mostly works well if you can find an open frequency, but it does desense the GPS receiver on one phone a bit.

or you can try an fm transmitter. It broadcasts a radio signal at a certain frequency and you simply set your car radio to that frequency. http://www.amazon.com/Patuoxun-Transmitter-Adapter-Galaxsy-Charger/dp/B00GLPG03Y/

http://www.amazon.com/TeckNet-F27-Car-Universal-Transmitter/dp/B001AIM5ZE/

u/sohcgt96 · 3 pointsr/Autos

These things are handy for situations like that. Gives you a wired line in, kind of like an old school RF switch for a game console. I use one in my car because I just really didn't want the hassle (and expense) of integrating a head unit with my factory steering wheel, onStar and HUD stuff.

u/Level1Troll · 3 pointsr/techsupport

Get something like this. It's a modulator, not a transmitter. The difference is that when you set it to one of the assigned frequencies, it acts like an auxiliary input.

u/MerkinMuffintop · 3 pointsr/vandwellers

Years ago I installed a wired fm modulator and it worked well, IIRC. It's a device that plugs into the antenna port on the stereo unit, and then you plug in the car's antenna and the aux device into that device. This is an example of one such device: http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-FM-MOD02-Universal-Modulator-Satellite/dp/B001QBG614

u/smithdorm · 3 pointsr/Nexus5

I have a Flexsmart in my car, since I have no aux-in and I installed a Belkin in my wife's since she does have an aux port. They both work well, however the Belkin does sound better and seems to connect more reliably than the Flexsmart.

u/ViciousDiarrhea · 3 pointsr/Nexus6P

Just do what I did and get a bluetooth FM transmitter. I got this one on Amazon: FlexSMART X2

Works great and the audio quality is still pretty good.

u/H2iK · 3 pointsr/Android

I use this one with my Nexus One and it fits my needs just fine.
A few things about it though:
The bass leaves much to be desired (I assume this is universal with FM transmitters).
Very nice and easy bluetooth pairing.
After pairing I just turn on my car and it automatically connects.
It has a usb port that can be used for charging a phone (I haven't had the need to try it yet).

I would go with number two if it's anything like mine.
I kinda regret not seeing it when I was in the market for one.
I would probably have bought it.

u/T2Taylor · 3 pointsr/XTerra

I know you said you'd want to replace the radio but this has worked wonders with both my old car and my new Xterra, and is cheaper and easier then having to install stuff yourself. Both AUX and Bluetooth. http://www.amazon.com/GOgroove-FlexSMART-Transmitter-Multipoint-Hands-Free/dp/B003PPGOC0

My car radio doesn't have bluetooth either so I bought this Bluetooth to FM radio transmitter from Amazon. It does the job....occasional static but not a deal breaker because I just switch the frequency to a clearer one. It also has wired input.

My Mini Cooper was the same. I bought a 3rd party kit and did a tiny amount of drilling in the glove box to install the port.

I used to have this one (until ~6 months ago) and it worked fine:

u/sekazi · 3 pointsr/OculusQuest

Here is what it would look like. You could crop it down to a square like the native Quest screen recorder does.

It is using scrcpy which can be downloaded from here. Make sure to use the adb included with the download as it will receive an error with newer versions of adb.

This video goes over the process of setting it up very well.

To get wireless audio I use two of these. I already had those devices but I have been tempted to buy these ones because they look smaller and easier to use. Pairing sometimes does not like to work with the other ones.

Edit: My video has bad quality because I was using a extremely low bitrate because I have never had a reason to upgrade my wireless until I got a Quest and want to play StreamVR games on my Quest. So I am in the process of upgrading to a 5Ghz wireless.

No, its a closed system over Wifi, no analog inputs.

What is your current turntable? You can add a Bluetooth Transmitter to any turntable to stream to a single Echo speaker or a stereo system over Bluetooth. There is an adapter to transmit to 2 Bluetooth speakers however a set of 2 adapters for 4 speakers would be even more of a pairing mess.

However, a big part of vinyl is the analog sound and the Echo and especially the Dots are not very good speakers. You will be much better off with better pair of home audio bookshelf speakers and you can add a second set in another room. You can also hook up one of the Dots to the speakers to have better streaming audio sound.

Any of these systems can also be added to the Dots for better sound in other rooms.

Lowest budget $50 6-1/2" 2-Way Bookshelf Speaker Pair and Hi-Fi Mini Amplifier Bundle. Add a RCA switch $11 to add a Dot with the turntable and speakers.

Or powered Edifier R1280T bookshelf speakers $99.

For the best sound quality for the buck, look for a used stereo or AV receiver and a pair of used bookshelf speakers.

Is it the adapter to connect to iPhone/iPod?

Cheaper suggestion will be using FM transmitter like this one. But the sound quality isn’t as good as Bluetooth or wired. It will cost you $15-30

If you spend a more, you can change the whole head unit. Maybe something like this JVC. If you install it yourself, it will cost you around $100.

If you are keeping this car for another few year, i suggest change the headunit, it will give you more flexibility in the future. If you're planning to trade it or sell it in the near future, get the FM transmitter.

Does your monitor have an audio-out jack? Many of them do.

If so, you could likely plug a Bluetooth transmitter into the jack, to turn the audio output into a Bluetooth signal that a Bluetooth speaker could receive.

I'm not necessarily recommending that specific model, just using as an example, and you're going to want to do a little research on compatibility (not sure what - if any - limitations an Echo has as acting as a BT speaker).

But this is likely the way to go, assuming your monitor does have audio out, and that you're connecting the Roku to it via HDMI.

And, of course, there's nothing Roku-specific about this setup, so it would work for any device that sends both audio and video to that monitor.

I recommend getting a Bluetooth to radio adapter. You plug it into a cigarette lighter outlet, and it connects to your phone via Bluetooth, and plays music by radio signal. I found it to be pretty handy, and I don't have that much interference from radio, I just use one of the super low frequency's, like 88.7 or 88.9.
Here's the one I have, I recommend it.

u/Ihatetheinternet22 · 2 pointsr/ChevyTrucks

$200 is only liability for me. If winters aren’t that bad then just get whatever tire you like, even if it is just for aesthetics, the KO2s did great on ice. If you’re going for aesthetic you can also do -12 offset wheels to get out wider and it’ll still sit flush since your truck has the factory flairs.

All I have for music is a Bluetooth-FM transmitter , you do get some interference if you turn the radio way up and the volume on the transmitter itself down but it’s really not bad, it’s the only way to really look stock.

You could buy a separate Bluetooth audio transmitter (connected to your TV's audio out) which has support for pairing to two headsets simultaneously, such as one or two. Im trying to do something which is seemingly simple but it turns out to be giving me quite a hard time.

I want a bluetooth headset for gaming with both audio and a mic.

One of the requirements I have is low latency. I therefore bought this set:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075VLWPXF/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

As a bluetooth transmitter I bought:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UEGDDAY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

But then, I realized this doesnt fully bluetooth my comp, it only allowes me to receive audio, not use it as a mic.

So I purchased the following:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B4W40VC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

After setting this up I realized the 'receiver' part is only for connecting with a phone, and didnt help me use a mic from my headset. regardless, i have to move the switch from either TX or RX. cant do both at once.

The only bluetooth that let me do both was something similiar to this:
https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Adapter-Wireless-Keyboard/dp/B00VWEK4IG/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1522075221&sr=1-3&keywords=usb+bluetooth+transmitter

Not only did this come with its own issues (for some reason the mic stopped working when in game) bit it isnt low latency.

What are my options? Why is it so hard to find a Bluetooth adapter that can enable low latency Audio and mic simultaneously. Is it really that hard? What are my other options?

u/TezlaCoil · 2 pointsr/AskElectronics

I only see a memory chip on that side, you'd have to take a picture of the other side.

As a somewhat less destructive option, you could use one of those aux to Bluetooth adapters, the FM chips on those MP3 players often rely on the headphone cord to be the antenna, so if you eliminate the headphone cord, FM operation should be effectively disabled.

Example product, no affiliation, no idea if this one is good or not:

So this is a bit of a "janky" solution, but what I've been doing is this.

Two of these (30$ each) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B4W40VC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

One goes in the headphone jack, and one goes into the line in on your PC (TX and RX), and you then you plug your headphones into the other jack on your quest.

That way you can still have audio, but your viewers/video can have audio. There is a bit of latency (not bad at all though, sub 100ms) that you can fix in OBS.

It has pretty good range in my experience, and I haven't really had any issues with it.

u/cahwyguy · 2 pointsr/IpodClassic

What do you want to use bluetooth for? If it is to sync, you might be out of luck. If it is to transmit to speakers, try https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B4W40VC . It connects to the 3.5mm port. I've used it quite successfully to broadcast from my iPod Classic to a car bluetooth.

u/hazeyindahead · 2 pointsr/subpac

I recommend an aptx low latency or HD, depending on the audio use, wireless adapter.

You would take one of these:
TROND Bluetooth V5.0 Transmitter Receiver for TV PC iPod, 2-in-1 Wireless 3.5mm Adapter (AptX Low Latency, Pair with 2 Bluetooth Headphones Simultaneously), Black

Plug the 3.5mm into the LINE IN for subpac and turn it on, turn the TROND on as RX.

Then, depending on your music source, you would use another TROND to send low latency audio or if youre going for cd-quality wireless, you will want to set this all up for aptx hd.

Im using this with my PC and m2x for low latency vr audio mirroring so I can still output audio to tv speakers for audiences.

Avantree DG60 aptX-HD Long Range USB Bluetooth Audio Transmitter Adapter for PC Laptop Mac PS4, Wireless Audio Dongle for Headphones, Speakers, aptX Low Latency, Broadcast to Multiple Speakers

EDIT: Now that Ive posted all of that Im sure youll spend a few hours picking out a couple components that would be perfect for whole house wireless audio or whatnot.

For any of you Bluetooth pioneers:

I have a pair of B&O H7's that I purchased specifically so that I can use them while moving about my office while having audio/video streaming from my desktop computer. My problem is that they are at a noticeably lower volume while connected via Bluetooth to my computer, than they are when connected to my iPhone. Volume works great when connected via Bluetooth to phone, so I've concluded that it's a transmitter/computer issue. I have tried a simple USB Bluetooth transmitter, a more expensive USB Bluetooth transmitter, as well as an externally powered 3.5MM transmitter connected via an amp, and they all yield the same volume issues. I have also turned the volume all the way up on the headphones using the built-in controls.

Just curious if anyone has experienced similar, or has a recommendation for a transmitter setup that has better volume output? I just find it so weird that the issue doesn't exist when connected to my phone, that I'm positive there is SOME way to get it fixed with my computer.

Thanks!

u/theotherdanlynch · 2 pointsr/homeautomation

Ok, it's been fun watching people post ridiculous product suggestions for such a simple request, but it's time to actually answer the question. Go buy a pair of something like this:

Then you can use whatever outdoor/waterproof powered speaker you want. Alternately, just get one transmitter and use a waterproof speaker (or two) that has bluetooth built in.

There are hundreds of little dongles like this. I just happen to like the fact that this one can be switched between being a transmitter or a receiver. That gives me a lot of confidence that the devices will work well together. Also, it's capable of transmitting to two different receivers at one time, so you'll be ready when you decide that you also just gotta have audio somewhere else outside.

If this product suggestion gives anyone the urge to indulge in verbal diarrhea regarding bluetooth audio quality, let me proactively advance the discussion by saying, "STFU". Bluetooth audio quality is an order of magnitude better than what's needed for normal outdoor speakers much less speakers that are going to be competing with the noise of a hot tub.
u/tyler-86 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

You can get something like this to plug into your Switch when you dock it so that you can use bluetooth headphones with it. It's powered by USB so maybe (ideally) you can power it off the Switch dock for a self-contained solution.

u/BlackKnightSix · 2 pointsr/Android

I have a "regular" 5.1 system in the living room that allows me to be on 1 input but have two inputs connected. One goes to my PC, and the other is basically an aux port where I plugged in a bluetooth receiver that is connected to an electrical socket and always on. You just pair up and is always ready. The surround system just overlaps the PC and BT audio if both are playing. I also have a 2.1 in the bedroom with a single input and I have the same kind of receiver connected (that one is powered by the included typical USB wall adapter). Something like this is what I have in the bedroom while I have the wall mount similar to this one in the living room.

I have been wanting this damn feature in google home for a while now. I got it free (mini) with my Pixel 2 but the only real use is asking for weather, timers, and occasional questions when talking to people and wanting a fact straightened out. I never cared for the music in the mini because it sucks for audio quality and sound propagation. I don't want to buy any chromecasts when my house speakers are wireless (bluetoothed) already. I especially like I can have my bedroom and living room both playing from a single source for the multi-room audio. Very cool.

u/rajington · 2 pointsr/googlehome

I have the Vizio P65 which, despite having Chromecast built in, does not have bluetooth. I ended up getting a bluetooth adapter for it but the experience is clunky. Not too bad though, if you want to go that route I used this one which has AptX and can play to two devices.

u/chiefjoefixit · 2 pointsr/gratefuldead

Go old school, and then add a bluetooth transmitter. Best of both worlds.

u/LukeWiLDz · 2 pointsr/Pontiac

You can buy one of those radio transmitters that have a aux hook up. I think amazon has them for less than 20 dollars and all you do is plug it in and it works.

Yes but I’ve found that cheap ones are finicky.

I used this receiver/transmitter with my bluetooth speaker but theoretically you could connect one to itself cuz it has a switch to flip between receiving and transmitting. These things are battery powered and I leave mine plugged in so I don’t know how well it would fit your situation. But anywho it does exist in many forms

Since it's BT 4.1, which by default has audio support, they've intentionally disabled it.

I'd recommend the MPOW BH045A if you can find one at a good price. Unfortunately, while it's $30 USD on Amazon.com, it's inexplicably $86 CAD on Amazon.ca.

u/TheBlack_Swordsman · 2 pointsr/GooglePixel

I know this isn't what you asked for but I bought one of these and it works great so far. Let's you connect any 3.5mm to a Bluetooth receiver that's small and it has a mic you can talk through.

The lack of Bluetooth audio support on many (if not most) of Sony's AndroidTV's has been discussed and complained about for years now. It's there on only a handful of the most expensive sets, but the large majority of models doesn't have it (despite whatever "new" version of Android is installed.) It's disappointing. However, there is a cheap workaround. Get one of these and plug it into the TV's headphone (audio out) port. I have this one and it works fine, no lag.

u/avboden · 2 pointsr/cars

Most phones only connect to one bluetooth thing at once, so if it's connected to a bluetooth receiver then the car's bluetooth calling doesn't matter much. In which case he would want one with a microphone. Something like this Anker would be good.

u/MotherTurdHammer · 2 pointsr/pelotoncycle

The version of the bluetooth on the Bike is important. Both my wife and I ride with X3's and have never had an issue. How old is your bike? It *may* be an issue with the version of bluetooth on the Gen of bike you have, trying to work with newer versions on your X3's. We have a bike we purchased in October and both can be using our X3's at the same time, but the bike always keeps whoever started the ride paired and never has an issue.

Many folks with the issue above have used external bluetooth transmitters on older gen bikes to resolve the issue. I have one I use on airplanes so I can use my X3's there too. These have worked well for us on planes, but never tried on the peloton.

Good luck!

There are a bunch of FM transmitters that are only a little bit bigger than a regular car charger, and have different higher powered USB ports on them that may work for you.

This one is from Anker, it doesn't have any specific quick charge standard, but it does have "intelligent" USB ports. Usually these do a good job of keeping things topped up.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GJ7DHMP

There are some other random ones with 2 USB ports and at least 1 of them is QC3.0:

And this one, the FM transmitter controls are on a gooseneck thing, but the second non-QC3.0 USB port is 2.4A, if you care about such things.

Well chances are your factory radio has no inputs on the back, Ive read where people open em up and solder in a wire but thats about all I know.

Just a thought but they might make a passthrough cable for the antenna to input a 3.5mm cable but not sure. Thats about the only input a factory radio would have.

EDIT:
Scosche is so-so quality but this is what you'd be looking for: http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-FM-MOD02-Universal-Modulator-Satellite/dp/B001QBG614/ref=cm_cmu_pg__header

u/ssmy · 2 pointsr/cars

If you aren't super picky and just want it to work, a wired FM modulator is a pretty good solution. Not too much work (just need power, and plugs in where your antenna goes in). Wireless is usually way too noisy. An aftermarket stereo is probably an even better option, but that could be a bit more money.

u/jvgreene · 2 pointsr/cars

I've got one of these, works great and is pretty cheap. I hid the little input/switch panel in the storage space under the radio.

u/corn_of_action · 2 pointsr/CarAV

Check this out.

If you can figure out how to install this yourself, it actually disconnects your car's antenna and inserts its own signal, perfectly clear. It would be much cheaper than a new stereo.

u/djkrugger · 2 pointsr/CarAV

What you want is a wired FM modulator, it will be better than the wireless but is still crappy compared to a proper line in. If you're on a budget check in a junkyard they usually have used aftermarket radios for little money, if you get one of the same brand of yours probably won't even need to touch the wiring.

Well shit, my advice would be to not waste any more money trying to make something broken work and pick up a new head unit. There are several resources in the sidebar it and crutchfield is a good place to find what you need for your specific car all in one place- once you have the parts in your cart out you can find the best price from amazon/newegg/etc.. u/srgramrod · 2 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

If you can get behind your radio, this should help out. $40 and crystal clear audio since it hijacks your cars antenna when turned on (same why a Sirius satellite radio works)

u/N30FAMOUS · 2 pointsr/gadgets

Check the reviews it has on other sites; if they're mostly good reviews, then you might have received a faulty pair.
I went on Amazon and did a quick search, adding in a filter for only things with 4-star reviews and up. I see some seemingly-good Sony and Sennheiser ones for $60-$90. I wouldn't go for anything less than $40-$50 unless you really trust the brand or know for sure that it's good.

Alternatively, you could get something like this and plug it into your TV, and it'll let you use any set of wireless bluetooth headphones.

After many years of buying headsets I finally found the best setup that is so comfortable for extended play.

First you will need one of these splitters possibly. I also like this cord extender.

And buy following:

  • Decent headset. I personally like earbuds, they are just the most comfortable, period. I've spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on earbuds over the years and honestly, price, performance and comfort (at least for me) these are my favorite. They sound better than much more expensive headphones I've used.

  • Standalone mic. These are cheap, this way you can pick the right kind of headset for your comfort without having to compromise for only the ones with a microphone. And trust me I've used a lot of the combo deals over the years, but my last straw was a pair or Sennheiser headphones+mic combo that were just so uncomfortable I couldn't wear them for longer than 45 minutes. Worst part was they were expensive ($300) and they didn't even sound that good.

  • Bluetooth transmitter. This is what I have.

  • Bluetooth headset

Now the range is not that great ~10 yards or so (trough a wall), I could probably get a better range with a different headset/transceiver combo but that's what I use, and it works fine for me (I do wish the range was a tad bit better).

When I step out to my kitchen (porch to smoke) to make me a drink I just put my bluetooth headset on. No hastles with battery because when I come back to my computer I just put my regular headsets on and plug in my bluetooth headset to charge.

Total cost $140. (including a $10 standalone microphone)

How cool is that thing

u/Gundato · 2 pointsr/roosterteeth

Definitely consider the transmitter. Older models used to have serious interference problems, in large part because the wire connecting the MP3 player/whatever acted as an antenna in and of itself. Bluetooth models (and probably anything with a shielded wire) have fewer issues as it is intended to be an antenna so it doesn't interfere (think of it as the difference between a pipe that only leaks a drip rather than a spray).

I recently purchased a bluetooth one http://www.amazon.com/FlexSMART-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Hands-Free-Smartphones/dp/B003PPGOC0/ since my car's cd player has been crapping out and I am going to be driving cross country in a few weeks.

In limited testing, it works fairly well. I still get a bit of noise at times (I am in an area with a lot of FM radio stations and I basically drive toward a giant one every morning), but it is at least comparable to listening to normal radio. For what it is worth, it is currently outputting in between two other stations (88.4 in between 88.3 and 88.5), so it is definitely able to work in busy areas and can work a lot better if I could be arsed to find a more free frequency.

And if you would rather use an MP3 player or anything else that can't connect by bluetooth, that model also has a normal audio in port. And either way, you can still use your port to charge your phone/whatever since it has a USB charging port too (that may or may not act as an input).

u/wiiv · 2 pointsr/Android

I have a Gogroove Flexsmart x2 and it's great, been using it daily for a couple years. I don't have to pull my phone out of my pocket at all.

Can't recommend it enough

I was in a similar situation as you (my car doesn't have a AUX or bluetooth hookup), but I found this and it works amazingly. Now I can play as much as I want in the car considering that also will charge your phone as well.

u/bigjaymck · 2 pointsr/ProtectAndServe

Absolutely! When I was in a cruiser, I'd usually have it on the local classic/alternative rock station (though night shift did require Coast to Coast when I could get it). Unfortunately, I'm kinda on the fringe of the rock station's coverage, and now that I'm on a motor, all the extra electronics mean I usually can't pull it in. Instead, I use on of these to listen to tunes... it connects to my phone via bluetooth (allowing some basic controls - play/pause, skip, repeat) and then has an FM transmitter to the stereo.

u/drk_dnm · 2 pointsr/ElectricForest

GOgroove Flexsmart Hands down the best FM transmitter I've ever come across. Pro-tip... if you can do without AM/FM most of the time I'd suggest removing your antenna to make things work even better, if that's an option.

Stuff to get:

FM transmitter. Can not stress how wonderful this is on a long drive. Radio music is crap so you can play your own songs or Spotify. I had this one in my last car and it worked fantastic, but I'm sure cheaper ones work just as well. Lets you charge at the same time too.

It's not the fanciest solution, but I use this:
http://www.amazon.com/GOgroove-FlexSMART-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Hands-Free/dp/B003PPGOC0

My car stereo doesn't even have an AUX input and the way the stereo is integrated into the dash, no easy way to install an aftermarket stereo. The GoGroove connects to your phone with Bluetooth, and then transmits the signal over FM to your car stereo. I've had other FM transmitters over the years and this is the best I've used.

Of course it's not perfect. If you need to do important phone conferences from your car, I'd get something nicer. For the occasional call, this works pretty well. I use it more for streaming music from my phone than for calls.

Before upgrading my head unit I used this fm transmitter that I bought on Amazon without much problems. The only problem being that there would be interference when driving next to a bus, but it wasn't a big issue. 2 years and it was going strong but gave it to my dad when I upgraded my head unit. He hasn't mentioned any issues since he's had it so it must still be going strong

I used this one for two years before I went from no Aux, no cassette deck to all Bluetooth everyone. It works great, great sound. Really the big limitations are finding an open FM frequency in your area and how good your car's speakers are.

What kind of a radio do you have?

Is it one of those old-old radios with a cassette player?

You can use one of these to connect your phone using the headphone jack. I have no idea how they work, but they are magic.

If it's one of those new ones that only has the CD player (or only has radio), use a Bluetooth FM modulator. You connect your phone to it via Bluetooth and then listen to audio on an FM radio band. I went through a few of them until I got the one that had decent sound quality. The cheaper ones are trash.

This is what I have: https://www.amazon.com/GOgroove-FlexSMART-Transmitter-Multipoint-Microphone/dp/B003PPGOC0/

u/banjaxe · 2 pointsr/techsupport

I always figured that the FM transmitters were ALL junk since the FCC crippled the output power but then I picked up one of these and I have no complaints. I have expensive headphones, dac/amp and I care about sound quality, and it's perfectly acceptable.

Note: I really do believe it's in violation of the max allowed output power, because it will stomp on somewhat nearby FM stations. Worth every dollar.

HEY! do some research, take the proper steps and it can be an excellent option. Investing about $30-$50 in a decent transmitter will do you a lot of good. I have had this one for at least a year now and haven't a single issue. There are a couple models that might be better, mine is kind of outdated. If possible, disconnect your radio antenna if you don't ever plan on listening to the radio (such is my case).

Find an obscure channel to broadcast on (the transmitter should find one good enough) and it should come through crystal clear. I have an outlet in my console that the transmitter is in, set to the channel, and my radio never changes stations, so I every time I get in my car my phone wirelessly connects to the transmitter and Spotify begins playing. Haven't listened to the radio in ages, and it's wonderful. I never touch the thing but it has some pretty cool call features too.

Edit. I live near Detroit and there are plenty of stations around that give me no problems.

u/Toomuchconfusion · 2 pointsr/iphone

it's been awesome. I discovered my car's powerpoint can be keyed or always-live (the powerpoint fuse is actually a jumper - move it over pins 1-2 to make it always-live and move it over pins 2-3 in the fusebox to make it hot when the key is turned and unpowered when the key is removed) -- this means I get in the car & turn on the key and bluetooth autoconnects to my phone. Turn off the car and it disconnects. I get a call & all I have to do is switch the radio to preset 1 (set to 88.1 - the frequency that worked best for me with the X2mini) and hit 'answer'. It's almost as good as a factory-installed system. Sound is crystal-clear with no interference or static.

There's also an X3 & X3 mini now, but they went with a different, more-square formfactor ( X3: www.amazon.com/FlexSMART-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Technology-Handsfree/dp/B00BMYQTYE -- X3 Mini: www.amazon.com/FlexSMART-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Technology-Handsfree/dp/B00EPQ0U2S) and the X2 shape worked better in my car.

I have a bunch of items listed as highest priority. It was a guitar up until I bought one for myself at guitar center. Now I need things like a stand, picks, a strap, etc.

My highest priority item is probably this toolkit which has been on my WL since I joined RAOA. I have no idea why I still haven't just gotten it for myself considering I could have many times over. We have basically no tools in our apartment, so I'm even more useless than normal when it comes to fixing things.

I REALLY need a new 360 controller. I may or may not have shattered mine a while back, and I'm currently playing with it held together by tape, and sometimes a button or two doesn't work. It's really frustrating.

I also have GT6 listed as highest, because it is honestly my favorite gaming franchise of all time, and I love every one of the GT games.

This thing is listed as highest because I would really like to listen to my own music in the car, but don't have an aux cable. I can get one, but I need a special part (because my car stereo is set up REALLY stupid), and it's $120 and comes from the UK. That item is listed as highest priority too, but it's not on amazon.

The following should work with their TV so that they can simultaneously use the TV speakers for him and the Toslink/RCA hookup for her. I won't give guarantee's but it should since it's at least a newer TV model since you mention it being a smart TV. So if you wanted to buy the bluetooth transmitter and test it it out with a bluetooth device/speaker you already own (if any) before going any further, you could do that.

I did a similar hookup for my SO's family for different reasons, and set them up with this bluetooth transmitter (it has aptX support too): https://amazon.com/HomeSpot-Wireless-Bluetooth-Transmitter-supported/dp/B00QV77YIC - There are other devices out there like this, this was a relatively cheap option for them and having never used it before, it worked and with no problems. I'll likely pick one up myself for future use too.

I didn't set them up with bluetooth (wireless) headphones but instead bluetooth speakers. But I'd highly recommend looking for bluetooth headphones that support the aptX codec (preferably with Low Latency) so the voices are in sync as much as possible if not perfect. I've seen the difference with and without it as well as it annoys more people without it and it's noticeable.

I'm not sure of your price range for the bluetooth headphones, but here are a few from Amazon that support aptX and SOME (not all) with Low Latency too:

I was looking into a wireless 3.5mm transmitter and receiver to plug into the output of my sonos bridge and then plugging receiver into the rhythm module to improve response time without running a long wire. Theoretically the one below would work as long as your home theater system allows additional output. For now it wasn't worth testing the idea for then available wireless transmitter/receivers I found on Amazon. I can't justify $50 to remove a few ms of delay

It would be nice if there was a Nanoleaf solution for it since depending on the shape of the room and placement of speakers it might only pick up partial sound.

u/Hefty_Zygote · 2 pointsr/Guitar

It's a little dingus that plugs into your cigarette lighter and into your phone. It takes the music from your phone, and beams it to an FM channel. Here's one on Amazon.

u/lordvadr · 2 pointsr/HamRadio

There's kinda a lot going on here that needs some correction. For one, a ham license (it's not an acronym, so it's not a HAM license) doesn't just let you broadcast anything anywhere...there are some very specific bands.

Second, when you said "FM transmitter", my first thought was one of those little audio transmitters that they make to connect an audio source to any standard FM broadcast radio receiver like this. It's those that have the 200 foot regulation.

FM is a modulation scheme, so you can modulate anything FM on essentially any frequency...but then you mention ~5GHz, and the frequencies are near, but not entirely within the 5.8GHz ISM band range, for which you need no license--however there are still restrictions on what you can and can't do. So I don't really know what exactly you're trying to accomplish, and it seems like neither do you--and that's not me being a dick to you or anything...we get it, this is complicated.

Why don't you just like the device you're wanting to buy so we can read some more info on it.

u/Recoil42 · 2 pointsr/cars

The biggest thing with bluetooth is that you can actually add it yourself, with any car that has an aux jack already... for like $20.

Like... bam.

People act like it's a vital feature that you could never not have built-into the car.

Meanwhile, go ahead and try to add a backup camera to a car gracefully. It's doable, but you'll still be doing some surgery every single time.

Not the exact one I had but it’s similar. Our 07 Prius was totaled by law enforcement. Our new is a 2014 5. I used the little Bluetooth adapter for 6 years in that car. Best car I’ve ever owned.

u/Dain42 · 2 pointsr/raspberry_pi

Honestly, I know you already have the Pi around and all, but once you spend money on materials (and you would need some to accomplish something like this), you'll be better off buying a moderately priced Bluetooth receiver like this one.

Between accounting for trying to shut down cleanly on a power loss when the car shuts off (so as to not corrupt or damage the SD card), and buying a case and mounting hardware for in the car, it'll almost certainly be cheaper, and it'll definitely be less frustrating. The Pi has a significant boot time, for one, so bluetooth audio wouldn't be available for a minute or so after starting the car, which would either mean waiting in the driveway with the car on waiting for it to boot, or fiddling with connecting your phone while on the road, which isn't safe. And there are plenty of other challenges to get around, too.

I'm absolutely not down on trying things out and going DIY. If you're looking to do this as a fun exercise in order to learn something, then you should still do it, but if you're doing it because you actually want a bluetooth receiver, there's just no way that the Pi is going to be more cost-effective or sanity-friendly. If you're looking to learn about wheels, it sometimes makes sense to do the work to reinvent them, but if you're actually trying to make something practical that happens to have tires, you're probably better off just buying pre-made ones, you know what I mean?

u/JimmyRUDEjam · 2 pointsr/iphone

I use the Anker SoundSync with a 2 port USB power outlet in my vehicle and it works great. Connects up extremely quickly and automatically when I power the car on. I can charge no problem, does phone calls and music, there's no buzzing and it's low profile and hidden out of the way. If I wanted to I could probably route it into the glove box to be even more hidden but that doesn't seem necessary.

u/sleepyguy007 · 2 pointsr/BMW

Thanks a lot. I think I might go with one of these FM Modulators because like I said I'd love to have an aux input but I just felt like it would be a shame to have the premium sound system but use an FM transmitter as the source.

u/NotYourAutomaton · 1 pointr/cars

For best ease of use, I used an audio input FM modulator which basically adds an aux input and hijacks the antenna at the flick of a switch.

u/TheGreatDarbis · 1 pointr/CarAV

Well the absolute cheapest route would be to install a hardwired FM modulator. Here's one that I've used before; you can probably shop around and find it cheaper though. If you want to go with a new head, which would be better for audio quality, I suggest you plug your car information and desired features into crutchfield and sort the results by price.

u/pvera · 1 pointr/cars

There's an FM modulator that connects to the antenna plug in your radio, it'll work great if you are in an area with heavy radio station density. Example: https://www.amazon.com/Scosche-FM-MOD02-Universal-Modulator-Satellite/dp/B001QBG614

u/jhonreal · 1 pointr/mercedes_benz

The best thing to do is also tune away from radio stations. Like in the USA FM cannot broadcast below 88.1 MHz so I broadcast at 87.9 FM. And its dead silent if i have nothing playing through my phone. Look at this random one i found on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Scosche-FM-MOD02-Universal-Modulator-Satellite/dp/B001QBG614
You will see that you can toggle between 87.9 and 88.3. Also with an FM modulator you can tune the strength of it. Make sure the car antennas goes through the modulator. I am sure you followed the instructions but just double check. The whole point of a modulator is to cut away the antenna and provide a direct connection

u/technologiq · 1 pointr/CarAV

I assume you're using the FM transmitter to keep your factory stereo in place?

If you insist on using an FM transmitter, may I suggest this:
http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-FM-MOD02-Universal-Modulator-Satellite/dp/B001QBG614/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1382482702&sr=8-2&keywords=fm+aux

You can also find Bluetooth versions. I like these only because they tie into the antenna input of your stereo and (at least in my experience) have the least amount of interference.

u/neo-privateer · 1 pointr/AskReddit

If you're fairly handy, I've installed FM modulators in a couple of my cars. It's not that hard, disconnect the battery, pull radio out of the dash, hook in the modulator to the radio power wire and then in-line the antennae cord into the antennae. So long as you aren't in downtown Manhattan or another local with radio frequencies saturated with content, you'll be ready to go.

u/jlaramie · 1 pointr/nova

Car stereo is a little vague. We will need to know at least the model of your car and what you are actually trying to improve. Do you want upgraded speakers, upgraded headunit or just better sound and an aux input?

I've installed a bunch of car stereos for friends and I've also had good luck with inline fm modulator. Unlike regular fm modulator which wirelessly connect, these ones directly connect to the antenna cable located behind your headunit.

Disclaimer: The link above is just a random modulator I found on amazon. This is not a specific product recommendation only a possible cheap solution.

u/cranktheguy · 1 pointr/Android

The first things I tried for getting audio in a car without AUX input was this. It was a pain to install (side note: I hate Dodge). It works over radio frequencies, but since it is directly connected you will not experience much interference. Audio quality was mostly acceptable, but you had to mess with the volume levels.

For my car, I just bought a new cheap stereo. There are several cheap options like this with AUX input. With all of the needed accessories, it was <$50.

edit: Maybe this is exactly what you're looking for.

Want bluetooth music and hands free headset for calls? Get a this:

Get a GoGroove FlexSMART.

I have my android set up to connect via BT when I get in the car, and then just use Google Play Music to stream whatever I want over the radio.

Best. Gadget. Ever.

Of course, you're going to get a little degradation of sound due to the FM transmission, but it sounds leagues better than a cassette adapter and allows you to make and receive calls, fast forward/backward, and stop pause your music.

The handsfree calling isn't the best on the other end, but they can hear me and the calls work just fine. I've never had one drop.

No, I don't work for the company... I just love mine. Even has a USB jack to charge your phone while you're using it, or just in the car.

I even have a little app that reads out my texts received over bluetooth, so I get that as well using this.

For a little bit more, I really like this one.

This one is great. Pairs over bluetooth so you don't even have to plug in (but you still can) and it's powerful enough to even drown out weak stations.

u/harristweeter · 1 pointr/tasker

I use Flexsmart for mine. I really enjoy the sound quality over FM and I found syncing to be very easy. It also has a nice play/skip/back button set up. I don't even have to use my phone.

I just set up my Tasker settings with it, in my car I have to manually turn it on/off because its an always on outlet (will drain my car's battery) but once I do that, it automatically starts up spotify, and starts playing, then boots up GoogleMaps and switches to driving mode.

Once I am a bit more advanced I plan to have it ask if I need directions to my next event, and automatically import my next calendar location and start navigation.

Here is the link to the adapter I have.

Hey dude.

Late post, I know, but I've been doing some research on the best FM transmitters (had the Soundfly by Satechi, 3 actually, first one was great and the second two had quality issues. Have had at least 4 or 5 other ones before it back in 08, but since I found that haven't looked back).

The one that seems pretty legit is this one. It's got insane amounts of reviews and most of them good.

My sister got a car with bluetooth, but here's the thing: Media playback only works on apple devices.

That's right, for android phones you can only use it for calls. I would have noped out of that right at the start no matter how good the rest of the car is.

I've had this thing for years and it still works perfect. Sounds better than any other FM transmitter I've tried and it has line out in case you have an aux in on your car as well as line in for devices that don't have bluetooth. The line in works even when something is pared, so you don't have to turn off bluetooth.

The quality is extremely nice, and it works through bluetooth, so you don't need wires (there is an audio in if you want to attach any other device too). Also, it has a open usb port and cables to plug in your phone, ipod, etc. In addition, it has hands free calling (I don't bother with it, but it works). It is also the clearest fm transmitter I have ever used. Surprising, because I have never heard of the maker before

It works fine but can't charge my Droid X. It would charge older, lower-power, Android/iPhone devices fine I'm sure. However, the nice part is that it still can take a cassette adapter and is handy not to need to plug the phone into anything for short trips. For long trips, I plug into a different charger (I have a power splitter).

u/char0n · 1 pointr/Android

Just as an alternative product in the same vein I can recommend this: http://www.amazon.com/FlexSMART-Transmitter-Hands-Free-Blackberry-Smartphones/dp/B003PPGOC0 . I too had problems with FM transmitters in the past not being powerful enough and getting stepped on (I live between Baltimore-WashDC area and frequently drive through both) but have never had even the slightest problem with static or step-over with this one. It's also an easier price pill to swallow. The only problem I've ever had with it is the manual tuner dial can be a little flaky (doesn't register 1 out of every 5 notch-turns on average) but it's otherwise very solidly built with clear and powerful transmission, and has been a godsend in my older car that was built in that period before aux ports were standard but well after tape-decks.

I've been using this guy for about 5 years. You can connect the phoen to it via bluetooth, and then output to the stereo via AUX or via FM Radio transmission. Or if your car has bluetooth or FM Radio, but your phone only has a 3.5, you can connect the phone to it that way as well. And it has a nice USB port for charging.

I use this in my '06 Mazda 3. Plugs straight into the cigarette lighter so it loses power when that does. It then transmits to the car via FM radio. Sound quality is therefore FM radio-level; not audiophile quality but it serves well enough. Only issue is that on longer trips you might have to change the station it uses as you pass through an area where there is already something more powerful on your frequency. The frequency is settable so not a big deal.

This is the unit I purchased. It works well enough, the most important thing is to find a good clean frequency for it to operate. If you plug it into the center console port, it will auto-off/on with the car, as well. I have a desire to figure out how to intercept the input into the head unit from the 6-disc changer and split it over, but I know the Bose is much more difficult due to the optical platform and would require changing out almost or all of the audio system.

This might be slightly more headphone oriented but I'm looking at getting a blue-tooth audio RX/TX so I can listen to TV/Music late at night without bothering my housemate through our thin shitty walls.

The only experience I have with blue-tooth audio is with the Sony MW600 that uses Bluetooth 3.0. I've found it has a very noticeable impact on audio quality even through Samsungs Oem headphones and my cars stock system.

Was bluetooth 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 a big jump in audio quality?

4.0 RX/TX for $24 Lacks Pass through charging so not extremely interested but still an option

4.1 RX/TX for $34 This supports pass through charging so I'm leaning towards this.

My Galaxy S7 has bluetooth 4.2 and my desktop has 4.0.

As I understand it 4.2 adds a big jump in transfer speeds but I'd imagine that my mostly 320kbps library with a few flacs, Spotify premium and the stereo output from my TV is is well under the transfer speed of even 4.0.

I'm not listening through super high end gear. Wired will be the cheap yet awesome Beteran KZ ATE w/ Mic and an inexpensive pair of in-ear bluetooth headphones like these or a also cheap but good over ear set. I need to do a little more research into bluetooth headphones but right now I'm focused on which bluetooth TX/RX to buy. Leaning towards in-ears since their more portable.

___
/r/headphones seems to recommend these $70 over ear bluetooth headphones or these $27 in ear bluetooth headphones. As far as I can tell most of those ~$25 in ear headphones are pretty much all clones of each other with mostly the same internals and user interfaces.
__
Not looking for the best bluetooth set up I don't have the money for it. But I don't want to notice and regret the drop in audio quality every time I go wireless over a 3.5mm cable as I do with the MW600.

If you can scrape together the huge amount of money, I'd recommend the Sennheiser Momentum 2/HD 1 Wireless. I bought a pair used, and they're incredible. On a tight (read: sane) budget, I'd check out the MEE audio Matrix2, which can be periodically be found on Amazon Warehouse deals for under $40.

u/LulzBaby · 1 pointr/headphones

Hey all,

I stumbled upon these while looking around for a new headset. Honestly, I'm a big noob when it comes to headphones and audio quality. Can anyone take a look at these? I'm not looking for super top-of-the-line, just something affordable and average/above average quality.

Thanks!

EDIT:

Someone replied then deleted...? But they recommended these MEE audio Matrix 2 instead, and upgrade with these earpads. Puts the total just above $100 and that was my limited. Can someone confirm this is a good setup? I'm a bit cautious since they deleted their reply...

u/DanielHalevi · 1 pointr/gadgets

I have the Air-Fi Venture and they are fantastic. A bit muddy, but EQed them to be much better. Battery life is amazing and I could go for 16-18 hours of music before needing to charge them. only downside is that they don't seal so well, they just sit on your ears without any pressure.

You could go for the higher class version of them, the Matrix which I don't have experience with.

u/getoutofheretaffer · 1 pointr/headphones

The Meelectronics Matrix 2 is the best pair of bluetooth headphones I've tried. Here's a review.

Hello everyone. I'm longing for bluetooth on/over-ear heaphones in the preferably sub 100€ category.
I am going to use it on my phone the Nintendo Switch and my PC equally for music and gaming.
They should have some isolation since I would like to use them ouside.
I like me some bass and listen to almost every genre but mainly electro and rap.

From the recommendations guide my result were the (149.99€ - https://www.amazon.de/MEE-HP-AF62-CF-MEE-Matrix2-Bluetooth-Kopfh%C3%B6rer-rot-schwarz/dp/B00DOP3NPW) MEE Audio Air-Fi Matrix 2 headphones (is it 'was' or 'were', not sure?).
The guide mentioned that there is a rebrand of the headphones, the (59.99 - https://www.amazon.de/M05-%C3%9Cber-Ohr-Kopfh%C3%B6rer-Stereo-Kopfh%C3%B6rer-Musik-Streaming-Freisprechfunktion/dp/B00R2MEH94) AUSDOM M05.

If they are practically the same then I should get the rebrand since they are 90€ cheaper or are there better alternatives for me?

Thanks in advance

Maybe look at the MEE Air Fi Matrix2? Tyll rather seemed to enjoy them, and they measure exceptionally for the price.

u/nolookz · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

I got the MEE audio Matrix2 Bluetooth Wireless headphones in March of this year, and have been quite happy with them at the gym. They charge using micro-USB, and last the couple of hours at full blast during my workout (they last longer, but I rarely need them for longer than that). I've used them both wired (no power necessary) and wireless using Bluetooth. They will even connect to both my computer and phone at the same time over Bluetooth. And the microphone isn't too bad for when I get a call as long as I'm able to speak normally.

Is it BIFL? Can't say for sure yet, but they are not too pricey, and if you don't mind over the ear headphones, they are a good buy.

u/drloz5531201091 · 1 pointr/running

I won't lie, I'm a big fan of these headphones. I ran for two years with that but now is the time for me I think to change. I'm starting to do longer runs more regularly and they are fairly hot on my head, specially in hot weather. It never bothered me much but it's starting to now. I shopped for a while for alternatives to overear headphones for my running and everything isn't perfect.

I'm used to the great sound of overear headphones and I often listen to music fairly loudly. I've tried Aftershokz Air and even though it's comfortable and cool technology and very light, the sounds isn't loud even at maxed volume which is disappointing.

I know it's a very vague question but outside of Plantronics backbeat fit I haven't seen anything worth buying really, specially when all the options I've seen are well over 125$ where my current are 80$ and have been literally indestrucible. They suffered rain, snow and a huge amount of sweat.

Thanks in advance

Normal bluetooth headphones will be terrible. However, there is a norm that offers decent delay, APTX low latency (caution: "APTX" by itself doesn't mean low latency, look for "APTX low latency"). I use these to plug any kind of headphones: https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Receiver-Headphones/dp/B00OPVWHRY/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1494608985&sr=8-5&keywords=avantree%2Baptx%2Blow&th=1

From my experience, the delay is not a deal breaker. I'm not very good at scoring anyway, but I don't feel too handicapped by the delay (which should be around 30ms) when playing casually. My steps definitely are very slightly off, but it's not ruining my fun.

u/fabier · 1 pointr/Twitch

These are the ones I use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OPVWHRY/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_pBJzzbV5YMRTZ.

Most pc manufacturers (and Apple) put crap bluetooth transmitters into their machines. They're high latency and the built in drivers suck on both Windows and Mac. What avantree has done which is genius is they basically make their transmitters operate without any interaction with your operating system or pc hardware. Just plug it into your microphone port and win :-).

They do have some background noise if you leave them plugged into usb to charge (not grounded well). But if they're running on their internal battery then they'll transmit no problem.

Can always return if it doesn't work well for you. You'll probably need an adapter for a good mic to work with the 1/8" audio jack as well.

Best of luck! Hope you find something that works for you!

u/iLL_S_D · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

I use the scrcpy method with these as transmitters and this as an external mic. I run everything though OBS and have 0 latency. I stream everything live on this facebook page so you can see for yourself how it works if you like. You could do the same thing of course with Twitch. Not the cheapest method I admit but it's the best method I've found for latency.

I'm not sure if asking for advice about these devices is appropriate here in this subreddit. I'm mainly looking for a device that covers one ear and has a mic to call and maybe listen to podcasts when driving. Currently, I'm using the mic and earphone that came with my PS4.

I would love to have both a wired and wireless connection and, if at all possible, not required to have to charge (which I bet it rarely exists, if at all, for wireless). It can be a bluetooth device or whatever, but the only requirements are that it "cancels" noise the least amount as possible for safety when driving, one earphone, and a mic.

If it is possible, does an FM Transmitter like this one connecting to an audio-mic splitter and buying a mic work? I would be more at ease if I can use a mic that wraps around my head and use my car speakers to hear.

u/Pureg4sm · 1 pointr/videos

If you have a cigarette lighter plug you can use this that basically acts like an aux plugin. It allowed me to play music from my phone since my car doesn't have an aux plugin either.

u/molo1134 · 1 pointr/amateurradio

You could accomplish this with audacity. High-pass filter, low-pass filter, compression, distortion.

But if you want to play with it, I say do the kit or a cheap car transmitter if it is legal in Finland. Those car transmitters are designed to only work at very low power and not be detectable past a hundred meters.

If it's a 2013, there's an outside chance that the factory radio has bluetooth. I'd suggest you look in to this, as this will be the most ideal scenario, you can just pair your phone and have a wireless connection.

If you don't have bluetooth on that radio, do you have an AUX input? It'll look like a headphone jack. If you've got an AUX input, you could buy something like this off of Amazon and your phone will pair to that device, which pipes the audio to your stereo. If you're creative, you could install this in your car somewhat permanently and have it look clean.

By washed out I mean at the high volumes the sound becomes gravelly and loses definition, and does not sound good or accurate. Currently the system is the stock head unit (which is 29 years old), these 6.5" Sony speakers, and a bluetooth transmitter. My best guess is either the head unit doesn't have enough ass to drive the speakers or the speakers just aren't amazing for playing that loudly. My phone volume is maxed out too.

You need an fm transmitter

I just use a Bluetooth FM Radio Transmitter. I plug it into the cigarette lighter below the armrest and the screen/buttons stick out perfectly in front of the armrest. Quality is good enough - there is some static noise tho. Convenience is top notch, as if the car came w/ Bluetooth. Link to the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/Nulaxy-Wireless-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Smartphones/dp/B018E0I01I/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1541341595&sr=8-4&keywords=fm+radio+bluetooth

I use something like this in my old pickup. The device acts as a Bluetooth device. You sync your phone to the device then tune the FM radio to an unused channel and you hear your calls via the FM radio. The device has a microphone. Works pretty well.

Nulaxy Bluetooth Car FM Transmitter Audio Adapter Receiver Wireless Hands Free Car Kit W 1.44 Inch Display - KM18 Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018E0I01I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_TM4YCbW35G8X7

Does the car have an Aux cable input? You may be able to transit to the cars speakers using the aux input too, using the phone as a "microphone."

My car has BT but only for phone, not for audio. When I want turn by turn GPS, I set the input to Aux and I can hear Google Maps telling me the directions.

No excuse for this in any car with a cigarette lighter - you can get a Bluetooth FM transmitter for under $20

In my past search for cars I just Google the phrases:

[Model name year] repair price -> for the estimated annual repair price, IMHO if you buy CPO or something with less than 40k miles and sell within 3 years you won't be needing anything other than the scheduled maintenance in the manual.

[Model name year] problems -> there are reviews on Edmund, and there is another website whose name I cannot remember with a helpful graph of problem reports for each years, you'll find it it's pretty high up the list

And lastly check out the subreddit for Volvo's.

Volvo's are quality cars and I believe they keep using the same overall engine design for many years with small adjustments each year, so their engines are fairly reliable. Again, just a generalization, you'll need to ascertain this for your model.

As for Bluetooth, I'm not talking about an actual part that you'll need to spend time putting in, but just a handsfree dongle! I'll link you soon.

Ok so:

This one plugs into your aux port and usb charger. Starts when you leave it plugged in and start the car. This is the closest you can get to seamless Bluetooth streaming.

Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - Supports Apt X https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_vNgnzbTJV2BQP

This is the more expensive option of the same thing, IDK if it's higher quality or just brand tax.

Mpow Bluetooth Receiver, Streambot Hands-free Car Kits & Wireless Music Adapter for Stereo System https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MJMV0GU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_tQgnzbVABGKJM

Completely wireless but you need to recharge it every now and then and turn it on every time.

Nulaxy Wireless In-Car Bluetooth FM Transmitter Radio Adapter Car Kit with 1.44 Inch Display and USB Car Charger https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018E0I01I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_sRgnzbDHK9FC1

This is what most people use, connects to your phone with Bluetooth and streams the music thru the radio to your car. IMHO the Volvo's you're buying will most likely have an aux port, and the placement of the charging port wouldn't work very well with this device, so I wouldn't recommend it but I'm linking it anyways in case you buy a car without an aux port.

All in all I'd recommend the first link.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I have a question regarding cassette adapters vs FM Transmitter Radio. I have an old 2004 Hyundai Sonata so I am currently using this in my car to listen to music on my phone. I've had it for a minute now but recently the quality has deteriorated and is no longer acceptable. I wanted to buy it again however I saw this product on amazon. I was wondering if this would provide better audio quality compared to the cassette adapter? Or if anyone has any other options that can provide the best sound quality possible for my car, i'm open to all suggestions.

u/uncreativegeek · 1 pointr/subaru
u/Tec_ · 1 pointr/CarAV

So the basic would be a FM transmitter. Moving up from that you get a hardwired FM transmitter. Again up from that would be a device like the PAC-audio AAI-HD3 or the grom audio device. Again moving up you've got units from isimple and grom that add Bluetooth streaming and hands free capability. But at that price point it's starting to hit the level where it's more cost effective to replace the radio. I would recommend replacing the radio out of all the solutions available. It will add more functionality and just sound and work better in the long run.

I have this for my car, it's not a steering wheel accessory, but it works. I haven't tried the actual FM function, but it has aux output so I use that.

Basically, I get in my car, and my phone automatically pairs with this (which now also opens up Android Auto with this update), then I use the controls on the device to control my music. Music is bluetoothed to the device, and played through the aux port. A lotta work and a little convoluted, but anything for physical controls for my music.

You can use a [Bluetooth adapter] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018E0I01I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_83IOzb08NNCMC) that you plug into the cigarette lighter. It works great but you just have to find a good radio station to use.

u/Amaegith · 1 pointr/Android

You sure can listen to music without a headphone jack. Unless of course, your radio also doesn't work.

That's just me playing devil's advocate though. I like using my wired headphones, so I won't be buying the new pixels if they don't come with a headphone jack. Shame too, because I was really hoping to go that route when they were released.

u/Gothbot6k · 1 pointr/SmartCar

I don't want to cycle through all of that though just to find a song. I'd rather just talk to my phone and tell it what to play next.

Get a cheap Bluetooth fm transmitter, I've got a couple of them for my vehicles and they are like $20. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018E0I01I I jump in the car and it kicks on and says "Waiting for Perry" It's supposed to say pairing but it's a Chinese attempt at a British accent so it sounds more like Perry. Then it says "Paired" and I play my music. I know everyone says they suck but I think it works just fine other than when it randomly switches to Chinese language every couple months and I have to switch it back to English, but who fucking cares it's like 20 bucks.

u/spyder994 · 1 pointr/Cartalk

I own both styles in different cars. I use them to listen to Audiobooks rather than music, so keep that in mind when I talk about sound quality. Bluetooth adapters are great because you can pause and skip from the adapter, and keep your phone in your pocket. I don't like the idea of my phone just sitting loose in the car. In the event of an accident, after which, you'll really need that phone, I don't want it to have gone flying somewhere.

In my car that has an aux port, I have an MPOW Streambot. It's very compact and has pretty good sound quality... no static or muddiness. Battery life is 7-8 hours before you have to recharge it through its micro-usb port. Build quality is a little suspect, but hey, it cost $15 and it hasn't broken yet. I can't complain too much.

In my car that doesn't have an aux port, I have a Nulaxy FM Transmitter. As FM transmitters go, it is pretty great. There is only one frequency here in Dallas I can tune to and not get static, but that's all I need. You can use Radio Locator to find empty frequencies in your area. I feel like the sound quality is just a touch muddy sometimes, but it is far better than any other FM transmitter I've used.

A bluetooth head unit is the ideal solution, but at much higher cost and complexity.

u/da9ve · 1 pointr/AndroidQuestions

I'm still happily using this MPow one well over a year on, most of which time I've been moving it back and forth from one car to another. Sadly, it's no longer available.

When I decided to get a second one to eliminate the swapping, I got this Nulaxy one which has also been great so far,... but I've only had it for a month or so.

The MPow one is built solidly - I can't imagine it breaking, so I'd expect their newer model to be solid as well. Interestingly, though, it seems that a number of different brand names of these devices are literally the same hardware, with brand-specific firmware as the only distinguishing difference. So generalizing about hardware/manufacturing may be invalid. E.g., here's another that looks to be the same hardware as the discontinued MPow, but still available. Scrolling through the available models, I see at least 4 other brands that look identical to the MPow and numerous ones that look identical to the Nulaxy.

Exactly how have the ones you've had failed?

[Edit - caveat: I've been perfectly happy with both devices for playing music (flac player on Samsung Note 3 > Bluetooth to fm), but never have gotten the MPow to perform as a speakerphone worth a crap. Its mic just doesn't pick up my loud voice in a moving car competing against road noise, though it's possible I just haven't been able to adjust its input volume properly. I haven't had a chance to try the Nulaxy one yet as a speakerphone. ]

I recently purchased the item linked below for my wife's car. We have a newborn and she needs my car because it's bigger for the car seat, and I have been extremely happy with the clarity and ease of use of the fm transmitter. I have a Bluetooth to FM transmitter right now (This one 4.5/5 stars and 4,000+ reviews) but I'm still unhappy with the sound, but I'm not sure if it's the speakers, the stereo (Because there's no external amp, it's being powered by the stereo) or the speakers. It's fuzzy/muddy, it clips, etc.

Although replacing the speakers would be done anyways, so maybe I will just start with that..... And maybe put an external amp in between the MSSS and speakers, so it can be a little more powerful without having to remove the stereo..... Really the only "broken" part is the Mode button, which switches between top up or top down sound modes, doesn't work right so I had to put a McDonalds straw shim in to keep it depressed, and the cassette player doesn't work.

So I'm torn because I'd like to have a modern stereo and just be able to plug a device in, but I also don't want to get rid of the MSSS (Although I did see an AUX mod for it). Thanks for letting me talk this out by the way, it's definitely helping. I think I will start with the speakers, then maybe an amp, and if I still don't like the way it sounds, I will remove it, store it somewhere safe, and throw a new deck in there.

Thanks again!

I have an 04 Subaru that doesn't even have an aux jack, and this has been the best purchase I've made recently. I use it every day, sound quality is good enough that I can hear audiobooks clearly over high speed road noise (and my car is noisy), bass sounds solid, music quality is way better than AM/FM radio. And it has a USB port so I can still charge my phone at the same time. The built in microphone isn't great, but it's good enough and is super low hassle and easy to use.

u/Regular_Erik · 1 pointr/Music

I'm in a similar situation with my car - no aux jack - and plan to keep this car till it turns to dust around me. So I've become quite familiar with a few FM transmitters. But firstly, it's worth mentioning that all FM Transmitters are garbage compared to direct input audio, at least in my experience.

But the best FM transmitter I've had thus far is this guy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018E0I01I

It's bluetooth so you don't have to deal with any cables that will undoubtedly twist and loosen and break. It's also a lot cheaper than the FM Transmitters you'd find stores like Best Buy (I've seen them for upwards of $50(!) in that place).

Some other advice... If you stick to mainly listening to music/radio/whatever through your phone and rarely use the actual radio, you will get a better, clearer signal for your FM Transmitter if you remove your car's antenna. A few years back my car's antenna got ripped off during a snow storm and it was the best happy accident I could have imagined. Because of that it's very easy to find a clear radio station to play the FM Transmitter through.

Good luck!

  • Maybe you have a tablet? A lot of people do. If not, an inexpensive tablet dedicated to private listen might be a simple solution.
  • Skip Private Listening and try a Bluetooth Transmitter Adapter and headphones instead? [Submitted as an example, not an endorsement. I have never used this product.] Plug this into the TV and the sound could/should be received via her phone's Bluetooth capability.

A drawback is Guest SSID functionality might not be as robust as your primary SSID's by design, depending on your router. But it is easy to set-up and start experimenting, though.

I am not sure how Streaming Stick+ helps you. Maybe you mean the Ultra that comes with a headphone jack in the remote?

They aren't dumb questions. Yes, with two car kits and a home kit it would be extremely easy to switch between car, truck and dorm. I'm not sure if this is still the same, but the dorm could be a bigger issue. Back in the older days, the home kits needed the antenna to have a good line of sight with the satellite and with my XM radios, I sometimes had to have the antenna outside. The dorm probably wouldn't allow that.

But one thing to consider is what I do now. I do everything through my phone and either the car's bluetooth. I have an older car and use one of these bluetooth FM transmitters. It sounds good. And if you already have an account the online is pretty cheap.

The data costs could be cheaper than a radio, two car kits and a home kit.

For the radio, one option is a Bluetooth FM transmitter that plugs into the cigarette lighter. You can pair your phone with it via Bluetooth or it also supports an aux cable connection if needed. Also has a usb port to charge your phone. I got this one for $16, but there are lots of similar options out there. Congrats on the new ride!

There's no such thing. You'll either have to hardwire, or just get a decent FM transmitter with 3.5mm and/or bluetooth. That would be your cheapest and easiest option really. Something like this (random link) - https://www.amazon.com/VicTsing-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Wireless-Adapter/dp/B01DDPUQTS

If you want a phone with a 3.5 jack... Cool so do I...

If you say : "My car doesn't have Bluetooth. I can't get a phone without a headphone jack because I wouldn't be able to listen to Spotify or Audible while driving.", Your are intentionally ignoring a wealth of solutions.

Bluetooth's default codec has high latency which means that the video/audio will go out of sync and the sound quality will be shite, at least for me.

aptX is a codec that's meant to fix that, and aptX-LL (Low Latency) would be the best choice for streaming desktop audio wirelessly.

Buy the FiiO BTR1, which is aptX+aptX-LL capable receiver and also buy a transmitter that's capable of aptX-LL (like this, this or this) and you'll not regret having aptX capable gear after trying to watch normal YouTube videos or game on that crappy default BT connection.

I believe macOS can utilize aptX by default, but if you have a Windows PC and do not have a 3.5mm jack to hook up the transmitter to, then you can buy an aptX-capable dongle like this and install the CSR Harmony BT stack because the default Microsoft BT stack does not properly support aptX.

I have a BTR1 and the CSR 4.0 dongle that I linked above and I get near zero latency unless I go too far (it switches codec to the default BT one if I go too far) - I'm not sure if it's using aptX-LL though, but it's definitely using aptX.

The upcoming FiiO BTR3 and the Bluewave GET also support aptX-HD apart from aptX-LL, but I don't think most media can even use such a high bitrate, so aptX-LL will be fine for now.

I guess you can ignore my advice if you are happy with the Mpow receiver (like many people) - I didn't use it personally, but my experience with non-aptX devices has been awful.

You can find a Bluetooth transmitter and wire from your receivers B output (if there is one) and then pair with BT speaker. Range will be the only issue but it should work up to 30’ with line of sight. Here’s an example that I have used that’s rock solid
https://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Receiver-Wireless/dp/B01IV1H1ME/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=taotronics&qid=1566532107&s=mp3&sr=1-4

This is just an example, not sure if it's any good. What you need is a "transmitter", specifically- that means it sends a signal out to other devices. Link

There are also "transmitter/receivers" which work in both directions: Link2

Thanks for the link/photo/recommendation! Have you tried pairing this to a surround sound receiver?

I have an Onkyo 7.1 setup with a Bluetooth input I'd love to use for Beat Saber so I'm not sweating up headphones, but the built-in Bluetooth on the Quest won't pass audio to it at all even though it pairs. It's this, or I use a 25 foot stereo aux cable and then I'm tethered again like with the PSVR lol.

Also, did you see the upgrade option that supposedly lets you pair two devices? Wondering if this would be a better option to pair headphones and/or a surround receiver when in a party situation perhaps - little bigger but not much: https://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Receiver-Wireless/dp/B01IV1H1ME/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

u/AMysticalAlliance · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

No. Those adapters (made for cars) are receivers, they take the audio from your phone wirelessly and output it to the headphone jack (which is connected to your car).

What you want is a transmitter since the switch is outputting audio.

Something like this would work:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01IV1H1ME/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile

But it is better to get the ones made specifically for the switch since they are much smaller and are low profile.

>Wow that's a lot to take in. I'm happy you told me about the whole tweeter position.
> as I was about to try and turn them sideways cause I figured that my ears are up here so why put speakers below where my ears are.
>And your 100percent correct that the human mouth aims at the listeners ears.
>I haven't tried to play anything between 300 or 2000 hurts as yet. Is there a record or download I can get that will help me test that?

just anything vocal heavy. down to the river from "Oh Brother where art thou" the movie sound track is beautiful as is landslide by Fleetwood Mac the demo version or album version.

virtually all of her voice will be emanating not from the tweeter but from the woofer since the human voice tonally peaks before even 1000hz.

think about that. the human voice which is essentially the hardest thing to get right ranges from about 200hz to 1000hz and that's like Barry white and Mariah Carey minus her squeal which goes a bit higher.

and then around 1000-3000 is where lip noises breath the sound of consonants and sibilance are which is why our hearing is actually most sensitive there to allow us to be able to comprehend speech.

that range is such a hot spot that it's also the range of nails on chalk board and why the sound of people chewing with their mouths open cuts through the mix and is considered rude. it sounds louder to us than it really is...

a baby crying it's loudest, belting is what it's technically called, also falls within this range which again makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint.

so the role of the tweeter is really only reserved for the percussive sounds in vocals while tone is all handled by the woofer and tone is richness which is what you want the most of, while clarity on the other hand adds air and dimension / sound staging but is also fatiguing to our ears just like nails on chalk board.

in all music the entire spectrum is basically covered so at any given point you are actually hearing nails on chalkboard but along with other stuff so it doesn't sound as bad but regardless having that range a bit off axis is just more comfortable.

>
>Other wise they r great speakers and once I figure out how to get them hooked up to my Bluetooth I should be happy as a clam.

you can find pretty decent Bluetooth adapters with line out for around 20 bucks. just make sure it has good reviews and supports apt x.

>Thanks for your help, I feel good knowing that these are better than 5 pairs of ls50s! (And that must be a lot of speakers)

I like this one especially since it allows you to stream to two devices at once:

the advantage is also that it's super compact so I can carry it with me on a plane or something BUT it's range is limited. if you plan on expecting it to work across the house rather than just when you're in the room I'd grab something with actual antennas like this.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IV1H1ME

It's switchable between transmitter and receiver, and one can transmit to the other. It's super easy, there's minimal latency, and you're looking at a total investment of $60.

u/Gobias_Industries · 1 pointr/television

You need two things like this, plus an amplifier on the speaker side.

Looks like there's also amps that will receive bluetooth so you can just get one transmitter above and then one of those.

There an easy way to tell if aptx is working...if you have noticeable latency, it’s not using aptx! It’s possible your receiver is picking up the computer built in Bluetooth and not the aptx one. Problem solve with turning things off/on and test with a YouTube drum tutorial video (easy to find a delay in the audio/video that way).

u/sglville · 1 pointr/techsupport

If you are in the US, and have the Onkyo A9010, like I, then you cannot plug the Chromecast 2 into your Onkyo as it does not have an HDMI input, so you will need to either:

  • Have some sort of output from your TV to your receiver and use the Chromecast/TV as a "bridge" of sorts. This will require you have the TV on when streaming music,
  • Use something like the splitter to which you linked on Amazon,
  • Go the Raspberry Pi mentioned below,
  • Get a Chromecast Audio,
  • Some alternative network streamer like this,
  • If your PC has Bluetooth, then a Bluetooth adapter like this.

I wonder if that's a newer or older model than the MPBH045A I have? Really nifty little thing! Just a shame it has the same ass-backwards functioning of the buttons as you say yours has - probably my only complaint about the unit. (well, an all-aluminium chassis and buttons would have been awesome, but then it wouldn't be a sub-$30 product...)

Seriously, who thinks these things up? The side buttons have a plus and minus sign moulded into them to begin. Single presses changes tracks and you have to try to remember to press and hold to change volume. They should have flipped the functions around. Or just have the main front button do all the traditional play/pause button functions - single press for play & pause, double press for next and triple press for previous track. But no... Double press re-dials last number and triple press does absolutely nothing. Wish the button functions could be configured.

You’re looking for an IEM system. That stands for In-Ear Monitor system, and it’s what stage musicians are increasingly using instead of monitor speakers. You already have the headphones, so you just need the transmitter station (what you’ll plug into your TV), and the bodypack (the part you plug your headphones into that typically clips onto your belt). The problem is these systems are expensive. $300 to $500 is pretty normal.

I did a bit of looking though, and found a wireless guitar jack that can double as an IEM system too. Watch this video from about 4:45 on: https://youtu.be/uXTZNY5Ta-o Seems like this will only set you back about $60. It might be mono though, rather than stereo.

If you want to keep looking around, this is a pro option that I have a lot of experience with: https://www.amazon.com/Shure-P3TR112GR-Wireless-Personal-Earphones/dp/B00ODU9IJW/ There are tons of knock-offs and other things all over Amazon too for a lot less money. There’s no particular one I can recommend over the others though.

Edit: to answer your actual question though: this is a Bluetooth transmitter and receiver: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KXIKCSI/ You would have to buy two: one to receive and one to transmit. I honestly can’t recommend it though. The audio quality isn’t great, and the volume steps are too gross (you can’t turn it down quiet enough for my taste). Also, there will be noticeable audio delay, as others have mentioned.

With one of these
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KL7C10O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_L3iUDbCVBKRTZ

And I used some adhesive magnets on the side of the headphone and the side of the receiver to attach it to the outside.

You will also need to modify the input by removing the locking mechanism from the headphone input. Then insert one of these
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GD3ONN2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_I6iUDbS0AMJRE

So that you have a 3.5mm out. It is useful and the headphones are now bluetooth but I wouldn't call it an elegant solution. This may also fuck with your headphones since they are open back but I doubt it would hurt the sound.

Replacing pads on the SHP9500 is not that difficult, just a little more involved. There is the Shure 1540 pad which is made from Alcantara and very nice, a little better than velour for comfort/breathable feeling. Only thing is they are darker sounding and really require you to peel off the foam backing (tedious work) to get rid of the slight veil/muffled quality they have. The Shure 1840 velour pads are my preference as they retain the stock sound but are more comfortable than stock and with custom attenuator placed in the pads the bass is what it should be. The 1840 pads are also 1/2 the price of the 1540 pads.

As for sheepskin, I have always found it better than pleather for breathability, but velour is best along with whatever Sennheiser uses for their HD700 pads.

For $30 you can get a highly regarded Bluetooth adapter to make the M40X, SHP9500, or any other headphone, wireless:

https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Headphones-Hands-free/dp/B01KXIKCSI

SHP9500S + 1540 pads + MPOW + Boom PRO mic would be around $150...

That was the first thing that came in mind and my solution was buying a tiny Bluetooth adapter for my car and some badass Bluetooth earphones. Took a bit to getting use to but life has actually been a lot easier with these two cheap easy solutions and no longer having to deal with an extra cable. Haven't dealt with any connection issues too, just switch on Bluetooth and they connect right away and have awesome sound quality.

You can get Bluetooth FM transmitters that plug into the 12V port. They actually work quite well.

I used an Anker Roav model that had far superior FN transmission strength than anything I had seen before. It has a boost FM setting that is really nice. I think they have a newer model, though.

My car's AUX jack has a severe volume level drop (full volume on the AUX sounds on par with one-third volume on FM), so I never even connected it to the headphone jack on my previous phone (GS8+). What I did instead was get one of those Anker bluetooth-to-AUX receivers - it has two powered USB ports on it, so I use one to power an AUX line booster, and the other to charge my phone.

Does this mean I spent extra money on this setup? Yes, it does, but along with the line booster it works better. That said, I only bought the P3 because my Samsung was going from bad to worse, and refusing to let me charge it (false positive on the moisture sensor inside the USB port, very common and very annoying Samsung problem). If I were you, I'd wait until October for the P4 unless your original Pixel is showing serious signs of wear and tear.

I would assume it would work with apple only. I have the Uconnect screen in my journey. The easiest way to ditch the aux cord would be to buy a USB bluetooth, plug bluetooth adapter into the USB port and plug the AUX cable into that or buy one of the FM adapters.

Something like this https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Receiver-Streaming-Portable-Wireless/dp/B076QF7FLZ

or something like this https://www.amazon.com/SmartCharge-Transmitter-Bluetooth-Receiver-Charger/dp/B0719SNR5N

I personally used a USB bluetooth one with the aux cable in my old E90 BMW cuz that had a 12V port inside the center console so it was easier to just plug that crap in there where I'd never have to touch it and just use the bluetooth that way haha.

Quick search found this video for adding an aux to the OEM head unit. With that aux you could then plug it in to something like the ROAV Smartcharge Kit F2 (got one for my partner a year ago), now you have 2 high speed charging ports, and Bluetooth/hands free. Best part is no interference and better sound quality then using generic Bluetooth to FM adapters

Technically speaking it would be a 1/8" headphone jack (AKA stereo TRS (tip-right-sleeve connections)) to bluetooth dongle. Kind of rare because it's one hell of a power sucker, and going from usb to bluetooth is more practical if possible. Nonetheless, here's one I could find on Amazon. I'm just giving an example, this isn't an endorsement.

Since your TV has no audio outputs, your only option is to pull the audio from the sources you are plugging in to the TV. If you are only using HDMI inputs, you can get a HDMI switch with audio output. Something like this will get you audio out and then you'd also need something like this to transmit the audio over bluetooth.

Do your implants show up as a paired device in bluetooth settings? If so, you can go in there and disconnect them from the iphone. Then you turn on the genki or other bluetooth adapter and it should auto-pair to whatever it was last connected to. When you're done and you power down the bluetooth adapter, it should let you just hit connect again on your phone to start using them there. No need to go into pairing mode or anything.

I have a hearing problem that requires me to wear headphones most of the time. I use this adapter in handheld mode and then my TV has a headphone jack on it for when I want to play on the big screen. What if I want my Bluetooth headphones to be amplified?

Pretty ignorant and still trying to figure all of this out and there doesn't seem to be a clear cut answer online.

How might I go about utilizing a headphone amp while still being wirelessly attached to my desktop? Apt-X LL is a requirement.

I'm listening through a pair of Beoplay H9s and I currently have one of these and one of these. Is it as easy as hooking up the former downstream from a headphone amp?

I am using them primarily on PC and want to add an aptx transmitter to my PC. Most of the ones available say "aptX Low Latency". If I buy an "aptX Low Latency transmitter" will my headphones still benefit from the aptX or will I have to get a specific transmitter that is aptX only?

In my previous car, I had the same issue and used a tape-deck adapter. https://www.amazon.com/INSTEN-Universal-Cassette-Adapter-Smartphones/dp/B00CRBA9D8 They work fairly well, but the cord usually wore out after a time. I also found a Bluetooth version in the past that kinda sorta worked, but I had Bluetooth connectivity issues that I now believe was my phone at the time.

I use something like this now: https://www.amazon.com/SmartCharge-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Receiver-Dedicated/dp/B07GJ7DHMP/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_3?keywords=roav+audio+adapter&qid=1549639180&sr=8-3-fkmrnull It has both a radio transmitter so you just tune to that channel, or aux out which is what I use. And then you can Bluetooth pair it to your phone. On my car, the power shuts off with the car so it will shut off when you turn off the car (which pauses the book), and come back on and pair automatically when you start the car up and then you just have to start the book.

You could possibly combine the too which I think would make the tape adapter last longer since you don't have to move it as much. I had mixed results with the FM adapter in the past. Mostly because you'll run into interference in spots either from other adapters or from radio stations in the same location.

Some of the things I've gotten that have made my life a little easier.

  • 12v 2-way splitter for the truck
  • Small Moleskine notebook (I write down addresses, run numbers, pertinent info because we do not have an MDT in our trucks)
  • Slim Wallet (I don't carry a purse to work and I will transfer my debit card, ID, and keep all my licenses in the wallet I linked, great for keeping in a pocket while at work. As a bonus, the company who makes the one I linked is from the city I live in.)
  • Window Punch These are pretty nice, not many places non-fire around here provide them on the trucks and they come in very handy if you need access and have beaten fire to the scene. I prefer these over the pen style.
  • Key Holder Good if she has a lot of different keys, some places still use keys to access their narcs, different parts of the building, etc.
  • Bluetooth Transmitter/Charger I have a new iPhone that does not have an aux port, these work great on our ambulances and have two fast charge ports to charge whatever you need. I use the splitter above to plug this and my GPS/Dashcam in.
  • Snack Subscription These are pretty cool a bit pricey in the long run though. Get pretty good/healthy snacks monthly with various price plans. Cuts back on the urge to grab that candy at the gas station if you have something better in your bag already.
  • Rite in the Rain Notebook Just ordered these and they haven't come in yet, they are awesome for onscene quick notes. Since we've moved to EPCR software I find that on really sick patients that we need to move and work on I still manage to keep physical notes which get shredded after the run is finished and it's transcribed to the computer. We use a normal flip book but these help organize things a little bit more, plus they're waterproof. Supposedly works best with their pens or just a normal pencil. Was a neat product I thought I'd try out and go from there. Also don't have to get the EMS version, plenty of other versions/styles to choose from.

I'm sure there are more and I'll come back and add them as I can think of them, these are some of the non-medical quality of life items I add to my every day to make things more bearable.

u/kr1ptojunky · 0 pointsr/SmartCar

I am leasing mine. I drove a '97 Nissan pickup truck for 15 years. I don't drive more that 7K miles a year so I looked for the least expensive car to lease. It became a toss up between the Scion iQ - $99/month $1,919 due at signing and the Smart Car Pure Coupe – $107/month, $2,393 due at signing. I decided on the Smart Fortwo Pure Coupe. I decided on the Smart because:
1. It's made by Mercedes-Benz
2. Gets slightly better gas mileage than the Scion iQ.
3. Has a Mercedes-Benz Mitsubishi Engine

They advertise the Smart gets 36/38 city/hwy but I follow the Tips on Fuelly, feed it 91 octane as the manual recommends and am averaging 39.9 city, I don't drive hwy, don't have to. I got the base model and it came with a radio and A/C.

Being a bit envious of my friends that drive cars with all the latest technological gadgets I purchased a GOgroove FlexSMART X2 Wireless In-Car Bluetooth FM Transmitter with Charging , Music Control , and Hands-Free Calling for Smartphones which allows me to listen to Pandora, receive and make phone calls hands free and listen to the navigator on my Android phone all through the radio speakers. The GOgroove FlexSMART has a built in microphone and extra USB port to charge my Android phone while driving and simply plugs into the cigarette lighter. Also installed CarHome Ultra. And Power Widget Lite. So... when I'm ready to go, I turn on the GPS & Bluetooth using Power Widget Lite, start the GOgroove, start CarHome Ultra. Turn on the ignition, CarHome Ultra automatically pairs and connects to the GOGroove, plug the phone into GOgroove's Universal USB port, tap the Pandora button on CarHome Ultra and I am good to go. Sounds like a lot of work, but takes less than 30 seconds. I also have Ultimate Car Dock installed with a shortcut on CarHome Ultra so if I want to text and receive text I simply tap the Ultimate Car Dock shortcut on CarHome Ultra ( You can add shortcuts to apps on CarHome Ultra ) and can send & receive text messages via voice command.

Again, it takes a few seconds to set up before starting to drive but for a total of about $60 for the FM Transmitter and the apps I have all the "techie" bells and whistles (Or almost all of them ) of a $25 - $30K car.

I actually read the manual and also have it in PDF on my PC so I can search through it using key words.

The thing I especially like about Fuelly is you can text Miles or Odometer reading, Price of gas and how many Gallons ( M P G ) when you get car in the car after fueling and it returns your stats via text and updates your Fuelly page. For example, last time I filled up I texted
>1300 3.71 4.173 ( Mileage, Price & Gallons )

and immediately got a text back stating

>Fuel-up Added! MPG: 40.7, AVG MPG: 39.9.

Actual running cost so far after 7 weeks has been an average of $0.091 per mile for gas and my average MPG is 39.9 MPG city. Sure, I'm feeding it 91 octane which is on average about $0.15 to $0.20 more a gallon than regular but the great Avg MPG makes it worth it. Not to mention the fact that it is a lease and the manual recommends using 91 octane or above for maximum fuel efficiency.

My Brother has a VW Diesel and gets 40 MPG and we all know diesel is $0.20 to $0.30 more than premium.

Do I like my Smart Fortwo Coupe after driving a beat up '97 Nissan pickup for 15+ years? Damn right I do. Do I consider it an extension of my personality or drive it for the attention it gets? NFW.

And the comments I get are mixed, I either get " It looks like a death trap and I wouldn't be caught driving a silly little car like that" ( It has 8 air bags and a Tridium frame and was rated as "Good" on Car & Driver as far as safety goes.) or "What a nice little car, is it fun to drive?".

Do I give a flying fart what people think about the fact I am driving one? Not in the least.
IMHO it's an inexpensive and economical way to get around town. And when my lease is up, I fully intend to lease another one. ;-)

u/cosine83 · 0 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

I paid $88 for a pair of MEElectronics AirFi Matrix2 and they sound way, way better than Beats do for way less. Clear vocals, highs, mids, lows, and lovely bass pumping. They also, imo, look better. Plus no wire.

People that want the over-modulated bass from Beats probably do have shit taste in music and/or only want to them as a status symbol.
