Skip the chintzy, cheap-ass, foam. Light weight, comfort, and easy to clean you want Birki's. They're $80-100 but will last you years. I work 50+ hour weeks and have had mine for 4 years, just replace the insoles as needed. To clean, take out the insoles and wash them.

I bought Birki's because my sous chef told me he has had his for 6 years. I was spending about 40 bucks a year for cheaper ones, and spent around 90 for the Birki's with the hopes that they would last me at least a few years.

I noticed, immediately, that my cheaper shoes shifted my knees in a way that caused them to hold more weight and resulted in more pain. The Birki's distribute your weight differently and have helped alleviate what used to be constant hip, back, and knee pain.

They take a few weeks to break in, and I still get a little achy after 16 hour days, but on 10-12 hour days I am free of the hip, back, and knee pain, and am saving money in the long run.

Edit: Here's a link on Amazon for them.

I think Crocs are great for the garden. That's what they were made for. IMO, that's where they should have stayed.

I don't think they're any great shakes. But then, what your body says trumps even the most professional of opinions.

I always recommend any Crocs fan to try the shoe that they shamelessly ripped off in the first place.

My wife and I used these as camp shoes and they were great - super light and comfortable

I recently got these (in black, though) and people have literally come up to me in public to say how cute they are and ask where I bought them.

I must say though, I'm a little disappointed that he's not wearing these

He kinda looks the type.

Incoming EM intern here. I tried to read up a bunch about this, and I settled on the Birkenstock Professional clogs. They're popular with healthcare personnel in Europe and chefs (who also stand all day) love them. You can remove the inner footbed and wash the outers at up to 160F to disinfect them. No problem using the hospital disinfectant wipes to clean them, and you can even use bleach on them if need be. The footbeds mold to your sole and you can order replacements when the time comes. They're also slip resistant.

I just got these slide loafers from Amazon (link) that I was really excited about. I like how they look, but they’re really hard to walk in! When my feet sweat, the bottom becomes slippery. The material inside is also shedding a little bit. Are these things normal? I want to like them but I’m considering returning them.

There's some heel but it's not too big. I've worn shoes with big heels and I'm already 6'2 so I sympathize with you there.

These look pretty similar?

Might be helpful if you give some guidance- assuming you don’t want/need the EXACT brand.. what material, size, platform/non-platform, how high... etc.

My husband and I both only wear the classic dansko clogs. They aren’t waterproof, per se, but they never warped from water exposure. I’m a very messy shampoo-er, but I’m guessing my worst day is probably your normal day.

They do offer a more sneaker-like waterproof shoe, but I don’t know if it will have the same benefits. (Posture improving, eliminating back and foot pain).

If you do choose to go for the clogs, be sure to buy from a place with a good return policy and wear them around the house. The clogs have height to them so misstep could result in a bad twist. That said, I rarely wear heels, I’m a little clumsy, and have to hustle at the salon but have never had an incident.

I’m sorry for providing links to women’s shoes and assuming your gender. The clogs are the same regardless, not sure about the other ones.

Wear these. This is what we use in kitchens. They are comfy, easy on your feet, enhance your posture and are non-slip.

birkenstock kitchen clogs. They are non slip and super comfy.

My dad teaches culinary school and swears by these! I found this sub on accident, but seriously he runs his through the dishwasher to sanitize them. If I had stayed in fine dining I would have my own by now, I hated Shoes for Crews. They're Birkenstocks but since it's this model specifically, I linked them. Good luck with your kitchen career! http://www.amazon.com/Birkenstock-Professional-Profi-Birki-Resistant/dp/B00GAXZQ9Q

I ordered these mules but I'm undecided if I love them or not. What do you guys think? Any suggestions for a similar style?

I got these and they are great. I tend to get gross calloused cracked heels so I'm trying to wear shoes more often. We don't wear outside shoes in the house.

6PM often has discount Dansko and Sanita's. You have to keep an eye out for normal colors though.

I personally like Sanita better but follow your heart. Amazon sometimes has them for closer to $75-80. I have these( https://www.amazon.com/Sanita-Womens-Professional-PU-Clog/dp/B01MXJD24B/ref=cts_sh_1_vtp ) and like them.

These are my OR shoes. I found them more comfortable than the popular Danskos. Birkenstock womens from Polyurethane Synthetic-Clogs http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000XDMHKK
