The miracle fruit, known as Synsepalum dulcificum that temporarily changes the way you perceive sour flavors, essentially making things such as Tabasco sauce taste sweet.

Edit: they're pretty easy to find online, here's the link to a pack available on Amazon.

u/thisrockismyboone · 948 pointsr/AskReddit

I've flavor tripped several times. Vinegar tastes like apple juice. Salt tastes like sugar. Beer tastes like grape soda. lemons tastes the best, basically like "yellow sugar" same goes for grapefruit, limes, and oranges.

Edit: Since you people think I'm the coolest person on the face of the earth, here is a link to buy http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002INDU22 and you can pay me in blow jobs.

Also buffalo chicken dip is the greatest thing with this, would recommend. Olives are good too.

The Miracle Berry

You'll trip balls. Inside your mouth.

It's not as gay as it sounds.

EDIT: Link to where you can buy them. Link

u/Yarsl · 188 pointsr/Frugal

I'm getting my parents miracle berry tablets, so they can host a miracle berry tasting night with friends.

And then I got another packet for my boyfriend's family with whom I will be spending Christmas; that and a small assortment of foods that are fun to try, like limes and stout beer and Greek yogurt, for our own miracle berry tasting night. Miracle berries are fun and last ~1 hour; something that creates memories but not at a huge expense.

Price: $14 / pack of ten, $25 / two packs of ten.

u/aimsteadyfire · 96 pointsr/nottheonion

All he had to do to make this significantly less challenging is eat Miracle Berry tablets. It turns sour things into sweet things. I'm not convinced he didn't do that.

u/Ravenhaft · 62 pointsr/explainlikeimfive

https://www.amazon.com/mberry-Miracle-Fruit-Tablets-10-Count/dp/B001LXYA5Q Right here. Turns off your sour receptors, I think. But the acid can still damage your mouth so don’t like, start chugging citric acid after you take this.

u/pitterpatters · 45 pointsr/AskReddit
u/compulsive_coaster · 38 pointsr/videos

I got some off of amazon. Be sure to try anything with high acidity. Sour cream was my favorite. Tasted like cotton candy. Other things to try are cherries, oranges, lemons (best lemonaid you'll have in your life), and I kid you not but vitamin C powder. Like pixie sticks, man.

Ah hara hachi bu haha! That literally means stomach 80%. I forgot about that, should've mentioned it! It's very true that in Japan, we eat until we're not hungry, instead of eating until we're full. In fact, my sister and I even communicate how hungry we are based on that. So 80% is perfectly happy and satisfied. 85% is feeling slightly sick from eating too much. 90% is feeling physical pain from eating too much. 95% is feeling like we're going to puke because we're so full. And hungry is like... 60%. 70% is we could eat, but we wouldn't eat much at all.

That's so interesting how you bring up how stomach expansion occurs from high volume, low calorie foods like vegetables... I'm guessing you also watch My 600 lb Life and it's a common thing for the gastric bypass surgery patients to be told to NOT eat vegetables because it undoes the surgery by expanding the stomach again. That hasn't really happened to me or my family though, probably because we weren't binge eaters to begin with? I think those powerful binge urges and hunger signals come from unhealthy mental attitudes about food too, which we never really had. So that's why I feel often that I don't really belong here because my relationship to food and weight is purely a control thing for other mental fucked up things about me and I'm very rational about food and weight without it consuming my life.

And yes of course! I'm 23 years old, 5'2 or 158 cm, 81 pounds at the moment, 36.75 kg. So that's a BMI of 14.72. I've maintained a weight of 80-85 pounds for several years now and I don't intend on ever changing that. It grounds my sense of self-identity and self-worth.

I am aware of how many calories are in the things I consume, but I don't obsess over them. I do, however, pay strict attention to how much protein I eat each day and I make sure to stay on top of my multivitamin, biotin, and calcium supplements. My priority is to keep in relative good health (no real health problems yet thanks to my diligence) while staying in my 80-85 pound weight range for my own sanity.

Let's see... Every single day, I eat at least two Chobani Greek yoghurts. Currently, I hoarded the coconut flavor. So that's 150 calories and 12g protein each. That brings my absolute minimum total to 300 calories and 24g protein. But I require myself to eat 36g protein daily. So I make a sandwich! I include mustard and spinach too, but they have negligible calories and grams of protein so I didn't include them.

Sandwich: 291 calories, 20g protein

1 slice bread: 120 calories, 5g protein

35g sliced turkey: 31 calories, 5g protein

2 slices provolone cheese: 140 calories, 10g protein

And honestly, that's how the past several weeks have been for me. Two yoghurts and my sandwich, plus my multivitamin, biotin, and calcium. I also drink at least half a gallon of plain green tea every single day. I have since sixth grade. No milk, no sugar. Just the standard daily sencha I grew up with. On occasion, I drink Coke Zero. But nothing else.

So my total calories and protein each day comes out to 591 calories, 44g protein. I don't really eat anything else at all.

I don't get hungry honestly. I think the last time I was hungry was months ago. Somehow, I don't feel hunger impulses. But I force myself to eat my yoghurts and sandwich to make sure I get my protein and avoid health problems. I don't eat at mealtimes at all. I don't have a set time to eat whatsoever. In fact, it's 4:30 AM here and I ate my sandwich at 1 PM yesterday and my yoghurts at 2 AM not too long ago. My eating is really unscheduled. And I don't plan out what to eat either, not really. I have my routine of my yoghurts and sandwich down, and I don't plan anything else. If anything, I plan what foods I will buy and eat to keep my weight up. I feel guilty for spending money on food and I research a lot into how many calories I can buy for as little money as possible. When I see I hit 79 pounds, I make a conscious effort that day to buy food to regain at least a pound. I have planned and budged for buying all sorts of food, but it's still hard for me because of the guilt of spending money and not being able to eat so much in a short time. My disordered thoughts about food isn't about weight loss but more about self-worth haha.

I do try and snack when I'm not hungry, but again, I'm not compelled to lose more weight. I want to stay in my safety zone of 80-85 pounds. And I hit 79 pounds pretty often, so I try really hard to go back up to where I want to be. I find it difficult to snack though because I get full very quickly and I feel a bit ill when I push myself and eat too much. So I end up rarely snacking, even when I should.

I don't have any off limit foods. I don't fear food and I don't get panic attacks over food or anything. I do, however, dislike foods like anyone does haha. I hate mayonnaise. I dislike sugary foods in general. I'm also paranoid about the health of my teeth and gums, so I avoid soda almost entirely. I'll gladly take diet soda!

My food preferences just tend to line up with foods that are lower calorie. As a kid, I always liked sour candies you see and I strongly disliked sugary candies like chocolate. So that meant that I would snack as a child on candies with very little fat and thus fewer calories. I generally disliked eating starches too. I ate much more meat and fish than rice and noodles, much to my parents' amusement. So that meant that I was probably in a mild state of ketosis, which meant less hunger signals, so I ate less in general. I never grew up on juice or soda. I was and am a tea drinker with no sugar or milk added, so that's zero calories too. And deep fried food was a rare occasion, maybe once a month? We usually ate homecooked meals, using little oil in the pan too. It shocks me how much oil people use on cooking shows. It's so fascinating looking back and seeing how all these preferences ended up to keeping a caloric deficit from day to day. I didn't realize it at the time of course.

In fact, in high school, I once had an argument with a classmate that I was naturally thin because of my genetics LOL. I even said I couldn't gain weight and if I tried to eat more, I'd lose more weight. I cringe at myself, ugh. I didn't know any better. I only learned about calories in college. The thing is, most people don't know how calories work or how weight is something people have absolute control over. They don't see food as calories, just things that taste good. And for some people like me, the things that taste good happen to have less calories so even though we think we can't gain weight, it's just that our habits make it so we don't gain weight.

Back then, I would eat two pounds of fish and chips my dad would fry and probably have like a 2000 calorie intake for that day. But my sedentary TDEE was 1200 calories, so my caloric surplus was only 800 calories. And eating 1000 calories each day, within four days, I would've lost all the weight I would've gained from that massive caloric intake day, so I was never higher than a BMI 16 even when I had no idea what on earth I was doing.

Nowadays, I use calories to exercise control over my life and I assure you that the law of 3500 calories equalling one pound of real weight, either lost or gained, is absolutely right. In fact, that's why I'm able to manage my anxiety over special events with lots of food. I know that within a week, I will have lost any weight I gained from a wedding or whatnot, even if I don't know the calories in the filet mignon with butter sauce. I know for a fact that even if what I ate was 4000 calories, within a week, I'll be back where I started. That logic of calories brings me so much peace and mental stability despite everything else wrong in my head. :D

Try some miracle fruit, mberry Miracle Fruit Tablets, 10-Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001LXYA5Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_sx1hybZPGJH1T

Makes lemons taste like the sweetest things in the world and other odd situations.

u/kurihara · 21 pointsr/todayilearned

Here's the kind that I bought, there's a lot of brands but this one seemed to have the best reviews. Not too pricey, and it was a fun experience, I'd recommend it at least once. Just get a potluck going with a group of friends!

Edit: Make sure to try wasabi. It tastes like ice cream, it was my favorite of all the things I tried.

u/partyonmybloc · 18 pointsr/funny

That's the way I was about the flavor-changing berries on Amazon that someone linked once. I still consider it every now and then though.

I feel like a shill for sharing this link again. But I get pretty bad anxiety at times too. I started taking this and it's like taking a weight off my shoulders. It's slowly but surely getting better. Combined with meditating this has been a godsend.

What toothpaste do you use, specifically? Toothpaste with SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) is what causes the reaction. SLS is used as a foaming agent in a bunch of stuff (toothpaste, shampoo, etc.) and it suppresses your sweet taste buds. Kind of like those "miracle fruit tablets" which basically have the opposite effect.

u/RunnyC · 15 pointsr/Fitness

Source Natural: Life Force Multiple has a very good review from herman_gill over at /r/supplements. I've been taking it now for a couple of weeks and definitely notice more energy.

I bought it from Amazon, but I didn't really shop around.

Here is a link to a study and comparison of many different multivitamins. The real info starts on page four.

u/gfxlonghorn · 14 pointsr/AskReddit

I just gave these a try, they are pretty cool:
miracle berries

u/greysplash · 14 pointsr/videos

As others have posted, tablet forms of these are available on Amazon

I've actually thrown "Miracle Berry" parties several times and it's a lot of fun! Just walk around a grocery store and try to think of everything that tastes sour and buy it! Some tips from my experiences... Each tablet will last you about 15-60 minutes (generally about 30 before effects diminish), not ALL the sourness goes away (lemons do not taste like pure sugar), thoroughly dissolve the tablet in your mouth (3-5 minutes) and then wait a couple more for the full effect, and lastly, bitterness is NOT the same as sourness. Eating the lemon peel will still be incredibly bitter.

Lemons/limes: Taste like the best lemonade/limeade ever

Pineapple: Incredibly delicious, but almost TOO sweet for some people

Oranges/orange juice: Really depends on the kind, but can substantially change the flavor

Hot Sauce: Vinegar almost tastes sugary, so it is both sweet and spicy

Pickled items: Again, vinegar becomes rather sweet

Cheese: Some cheeses taste like "dessert" cheese, especially sharp cheeses, cream cheese, cottage cheese, and goat cheese. Some people don't seem to be as effected by the cheeses as other though.

Beer/Wine: Not as profound as citrus, but definitely changes the flavor profile

Random note of caution: You'll end up wanting to eat a TON of citrus foods. This will give you an upset stomach if you don't moderate.

Yes!! My LO has to supplement with multi + iron, and we LOVE Novaferrum’s multivitamin! She happily takes her dose every night. So much better than the Zarbees that we tried first.

u/Kinkajou1015 · 13 pointsr/NoStupidQuestions

There sorta is. Miracle Berries and by extension Miracle Berry Tablets.

It's not permanent and wears off anywhere from 30-90 minutes in my experiences, but it really does make things taste completely different. It's fun if you are a foodie. I could see it being a potential thing really picky eaters may need to get them to eat more foods and not stick with certain unhealthy options.

u/SmaltedFig · 13 pointsr/Drugs

We had some of those flavor pills that changed acidic foods to tasting sweet (made lemons delicious). That's worth looking into

I have only had the tablets (Amazon link) and they do what they say, it was quite interesting to eat a straight lemon that tasted sweet.

The best hangover cure is hangover prevention. So if being hungover tempts you to smoke do everything you can to avoid hangovers. I myself get terrible terrible hangovers. Before bed i usually throw up all the alcohol in my system(on purpose, i want that toxic poison out of my body). I Take an optimen multivitamin or 2 before bed and drink at least 2 water bottles. I chug it like its beer. Hangovers are cause from dehydration, and you have to prevent that before the problem occurs.

Some people swear by Pedialyte. They say its like gatorade on steroids. Its starting to get around colleges now as "the" hangover cure. I have not tried it yet so I can't knock it but have friends that use it.

Just a couple of quick tips to prevent hangovers so you don't get the urge to smoke. :)

u/heymikeyp · 11 pointsr/Fitness

Very cheap forms of vitamins that are very poorly absorbed by the body. Don't feel to bad though, Optimen was my first multi and I took it for a year when I was younger without realizing it was shit. It's on par with the shit multis they sell at walmart basically. Fear not for I know of very good multis for basically the same price. But depending on your activity life.

For an overall very good (one of the best you can get actually) multi, that's very balanced with superior forms of each vitamin, source naturals life force is the best bang for you buck, basically the same price as Optimen. https://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-Multiple-Activator-Capsules/dp/B000GFPD0G/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1497074875&sr=8-1&keywords=source+naturals+life+force

If you're a hardcore lifter, and/or you experience discomforts in joints or recovery, controlled labs Orange Triad is the best in this aspect because it also has very good forms of vitamins, BUT, it includes a joint/flex complex in it that would cost 45$ alone by itself at a CVS. And you get a 45 day supply for 28$, basically like a few dollars more then optimen or source naturals. I'm taking it right now and have for the past 3-4 years. I haven't experienced any joint pain during this time, amazing multi I would say. https://www.amazon.com/Controlled-Labs-Orange-Triad-Multivitamin/dp/B00104I5TS/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1497086164&sr=1-1&keywords=orange%2Btriad&th=1

Now Foods Adam Multi is also pretty damn good for the price if you want something cheaper then all of those. https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Adam-Superior-Multi-Softgels/dp/B003ENHSI2/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1497075275&sr=8-5&keywords=anavite&th=1

If you have any other questions of supplements you take or concerns just let me know. I've studied supplements and other nutrition info for years now.

Miracle berry tablets. https://www.amazon.com/mberry-Miracle-Fruit-Tablets-10-Count/dp/B001LXYA5Q

Messes with your tastebuds so sour tastes sweet. Plain lemons taste like lemon candy. Fun with other sour or rart stuff. Pickles, sauerkraut, cranberries.

u/fastestpooper · 10 pointsr/beer

I did a beer education just the other day - so a little different than your regular beer dinner - and did something new with it I called "Sniff School 101" that would be interesting to integrate into a dinner. We were tasting 3 beers: a lager, IPA and a wheat - before we drank the beers I wanted to give everyone a baseline of the flavors I was going to be talking about. So I had set up a cups filled with ingredients in the beers: lemon zest, grapefruit zest, malt extract, hops, clove, etc with cotton balls on top so they had to rely on their nose only. Then they all smelled then blind to 'calibrate' their palates to the flavors I was about to talk about. It was a great value add depending on the baseline craft knowledge of the people you are doing it with. Could also use jelly beans.

Regarding your beer dinner - at the end, pair a tart dessert with an IPA and a dose of Miracle Berry - that will blow their minds: http://www.amazon.com/Miracle-Berry-Fruit-Tablets-Miraculin/dp/B002INDU22

I always feel once you get past $75 bucks you should have some phenomenal beers. Its more about quality over quantity and I would cap it at 6 courses. Also saw a beer dinner that ended with a Utopias Cigar after dessert, which was cool. Good luck.

No problem and you’re welcome.

Yeah I think it’s super important to get a quality multivitamin. I prefer one made from whole foods. Not the store just literally whole foods. It does cost more but you get what you pay for. I use this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001LXYA5Q/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_10?smid=A1HO96LT4QCG4P&psc=1

They change how things taste to your taste buds temporarily! I've had multiple friends try them and say they're definitely worth the few bucks for them. They're on my list as well, mwahaha.

My psychiatrist has me taking this supplement for anxiety which has a lot of different things in it to help: https://www.amazon.com/Labs-Supplement-Enhancer-Ashwagandha-Rhodiola/dp/B00A4OVLRS/ref=mp_s_a_1_15?keywords=anxiety+supplements&qid=1564538975&s=gateway&sprefix=anxiety+&sr=8-15

I know it's called Mood Boost, but the contents are actually good for both depression and anxiety so you're covered.

Another possibility is lavender. There are two different types of clinically tested lavender supplements. They are

Calm Aid (also suggested by a psychiatrist):
https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Way-non-drowsy-clinically-gluten-free/dp/B007TYY2JA/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=lavender+supplement&qid=1564539190&s=gateway&sprefix=lavender+su&sr=8-3

Lavela:

I also agree with another poster about meditation. There's a wonderful app for that which is simply called "Calm".

There's also a good app and website for counseling where you simply pay for unlimited messaging with a counselor. I have found it quite effective. It's called "talkspace".

Good luck!

The menu is roast goose with orange sauce, pureed spiced parsnips, broccoli sautéed with miniature sweet peppers and onions, baby green salad with palm hearts and a balsamic vinaigrette. There will be ginger cookies for dessert, followed by a special Christmas surprise of various sour fruits and these miracle fruit tablets.

If you've never had miracle fruit, you should try it. The results are truly crazy and fun.

Miracle Berries

They do work. Let them dissolve on your tongue for a minute or two and try stuff. Generally sour foods will give you the most effect turning them somewhat sweet. A cup of white vinegar tastes like Apple juice. Straight lemons taste like lemonade. Though there is a distinct "artificial" sweetener taste.

Note that you probably will get sick the first time - not from the tablet, but from the ridiculous stuff you will eat and think tastes good. And be careful with alcohol. Tequila tastes good, but it doesn't mean you should drink it like juice.

u/Vitamin_D_Bol · 5 pointsr/Supplements

Meal frequency does not matter. If he wants to eat one or two meals a day, that is okay. What matters is that he is getting enough nutrients(vitamins, minerals, protein, calories) When the body does not get enough food, it slows down the metabolism. Go to the doctor ask for blood work for testosterone/thyroid/Vitamin D. At his age, either could be suboptimal for his health. Getting a sluggish thyroid optimized will make a huge difference in energy levels, same as testosterone. Optimally, you would want his testosterone over 700 ng/dl and his TSH(thyroid stimulating hormone) under <3. If you get his blood work and let me see it, i will tell you what i think. He needs to incorporate more animal protein into his diet. Amino acids found in food are essential for every single process in your body. Neurotransimitters like dopamine and serotonin(happy hormones) need amino acids to function properly. People underestimate the importance of dietary protein.

These are the two multivitamins i recommend because they contain the best, most bioavailable forms of vitamins and minerals. They are not expensive and are of really good quality. It is possible that your husband's multivitamin switched it's formulation to an inferior product. You can try these, but get that blood work done. It is very important, low testosterone and hypothyroidism will deteriorate his health as he ages. :

be CAREFUL about taking any magnesium oxide, its the cheapest form of magnesium and the least absorbable - meaning it's basically a laxative and will give you liquid diarrhea REALLY easy

you really want the stuff that ends with -ATE , doesnt have the side effects

as far as multivitamin, you may want to switch to something with join suporrt like this stuff which is praised highly in the body building community. I take half the daily dose since i'm not an athlete.

on the same note i've heard nothing but good things about Cissus for join pain.

Another thing people say helps is circumin/tumeric, available in caps but you can just get a bunch of the indian spice at a grocery story if they have it

There are evolutionary reasons why children are averse to bitter foods, the most important of which is avoiding poisonous plants. sauce

As a person becomes an adult, they are supposed to lose this sensitivity. He might have retained the sensitivity due to biological or psychological phenomenae.

Whether this is biological or psychological is irrelevant, he must eat plants.

He can use miracle fruit tablets to counteract the effect that bitter flavors have on him.

He should also search out ketogenic recipes, such as those found in /r/keto, as these are healthy foods which are light on vegetables.

Miracle berries, haven't had it before, but it sounds amazing, apparently it's a fruit that if you eat it, for the next hour or so, anything sour you eat will taste sweet, and anything sweet will taste sweeter.

Try taking a Miracle Berry tablet before eating strawberries. It makes every strawberry taste sweet.

Heck, they make lemon juice taste like sweet lemonade. And you don't need a whole tablet, you can split one in half and share.

u/4zen · 3 pointsr/AskReddit

Get them from Amazon.

I found they worked really well with sour and sweet things like lemons, but not so well with savory foods. I was able to eat a whole lemon and it tasted like sweet lemonade.

They don't last very long. I'd say maybe 30 minutes.

These lavender pills are research based and I shit you not- they are MORE effective at managing my anxiety then benzos .

I am not into hippy dippy shit - my brother and I were both addicted to high amounts of kpin and Xanax for years. THIS is what helped free us both.

It is WORTH the price and I take at least 2/day.
I have not met anyone who has not benefitted from this. Is is amazing at managing anxiety , ptsd, depression, benzo wd, the works.

Check this out: Integrative Therapeutics - Lavela WS 1265 - Clinically Studied L... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0072POIB8/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_t1_WleIDb0H9NX21.

Beyond that, managing the physical symptoms such as racing heart palpitations and temp disregulation , clonidine at night was helpful (the blood pressure med) and beta blockers can be helpful.

Eating a low carb diet high in protein can be helpful,

Mag supplements like natural calm were super helpful.

My night time routine was :

Big dose of natural calm + trace mineral drops.
3 lavender pills
1 clonidine

Big cup of “yogi lavender stress release”.

And my favorite cbd : nuleaf cbd - I have tried every single cbd available in Oregon and this is THE stuff that works for me and benzo WD.
Also helps with my seizures and I was a huge skeptic .

My kid is almost two and his dose is only one mL so I'm assuming a six month old's should be smaller. I mix it with his milk and he drinks it without complaint.

ETA: in general you should not mix iron with milk, see comments below.

u/Modafinabler · 3 pointsr/running

If you do go the low carb route I'd highly recommend KetoCaNa for long runs. I've done 18 hour fasts and done 90 minute hard interval sessions before using this.

Also UCAN can be really useful for races/long runs too. I would definitely test this out though because it can cause GI distress if you overdo it/aren't used to it.

I would say that for most of your easy runs, you could be Keto and do well. I personally prefer a more cyclic ketogenic approach where I do carb re-feeds post workout.

When you increase volume, frequency, and especially intensity most people are going to perform better on a higher CHO intake. If you're never running more than once a day though, and most of your runs are easy you might be able to do keto all the time.

u/IGaveHerThe · 3 pointsr/fasting

Check out this podcast - skip to 49:18 - it's a VERY long podcast.

How to accelerate the induction of ketone projection through use of exogenous ketones[49:18]

One exogenous ketone product he uses is this.

Taking sodium/drinking broth is also highly recommended. Drink a lot of water.

tl;d listen: when you (water) fast, you switch over from a glucose metabolism to a ketogenic (fat-burning) metabolism. Your brain starts to 'starve' as you run out of glucose (sugar) to burn and switch over to ketones (fat). If you take an exogenous ketone supplement, you can bridge that gap - your brain just fuels off the ketones as the rest of your body ramps up the ketone production. This will make the entry into the fast much easier, as your brain will never go into the 'starvation' state.

Other than that, fasting for 10 days is safe, if a bit uncomfortable.

Sure. Nautrelo Whole Food Multivitamin: link

Choline Supplement because choline is often lacking in people due to not enough egg consumption.

While the multivitamin is expensive, the vitamins are not synthetic for the most part, and have decent potency.

u/AmericanMuskrat · 3 pointsr/CAchores

It's kind of pricey but I want this Naturelo vitamin. It supposedly has better forms of vitamins than what you typically get from a multivitamin.

u/dreiter · 3 pointsr/Supplements

Your risk increase from a multi containing near the RDA of A and E will be essentially zero. Naturelo comes to mind as it has only 1mg carotene and 22 mg E. The studies showing increased risk from carotene supplements were using 20-30 mg while the vitamin E research indicates potential benefits at 50 mg/day and risks at >215 mg/day. If you take your multi with food (i.e. simulating ingestion of the nutrients in a food matrix as you would find in nature) then I don't see any cause for concern.

u/mtAnalogue · 2 pointsr/Fitness

u/mr_bacon_pants · 2 pointsr/Fitness

Like everyone says, multivitamins aren't necessary, but they probably won't hurt if you wanted to cover your bases.

Rainbow light is a good value, $20 for a 6 month supply.

A lot of people also like orange triad but it's quite a bit more expensive.

u/BulkingKitchen · 2 pointsr/gainit

From a pill supplement form, there are really only a few "vitamins" that I would suggest. This is a quick list:

  • Men's Multi Vitamin ( Rainbow Light) - Basic maintenance
  • ZMA (Optimum Nutrition) - Taken before bed on empty stomach for sleep and recovery
  • Fish / Krill Oil (Viva Fish Oil)

If you eat plenty of macro-nutrient dense whole foods, you should not have to take any more pills than this.
u/phobs · 2 pointsr/explainlikeimfive

http://www.amazon.com/Natures-Way-Alive-Multivitamin-Tablets/dp/B0009F3RO2/

Thats their general mutlivitamin. They have three pages of variations. It has a lot of B vitamins so its no surprise people are noticing a difference.

u/kayleepop · 2 pointsr/TransDIY

I take this everyday with food

I also take a Vitamin D/Calcium supplement for hip growth and a B complex 2x a day to counteract the B12 deficiency caused by cyproterone acetate.

IMO it's better to be safe than sorry, because the body is much better at dealing with too much of something than not enough. (but pay attention to the maximum recommended daily allowances)

Make sure you take them with food though, because that usually increases bio-availability.

u/taytermuffin · 2 pointsr/Anxiety

You can buy it at health food stores but it's WAY cheaper on Amazon so that's where I buy it. It was recommended by a naturopathic MD when I went to see her about my tonsils having insane swelling. The chest pain stopping was a totally random side effect of starting the vitamins but I'm so glad I did.

The pills are kind of big and they basically smell like hay, but if you can't swallow them you can always dissolve them in something or blend them into a smoothie. I discovered that after I had my tonsils taken out.

Here's the one I take - they also sell men's, prenatal, and senior vitamins. I got my mom on the senior one and she feels way better.

u/Acid_Affairs · 2 pointsr/Supplements

From what I can tell the supplements don't seem that bad. However, at least for the animal m-stack and gnc beyond raw re-forge they contain a lot of ingredients which can mess up with calculated desired results when taken together.

Are you taking a high-quality multivitamin? The only supplement your taking that is providing any essential nutritional value is that gnc beyond raw re-forge. From these supplements alone you are still lacking essential minerals like calcium. And even if you do take a good multivitamin you will still lack the recommended dietary allowance of calcium, magnesium, or even iron if you are not eating enough meat. It depends on your diet and what kinds of food you eat. If you want to supplement I'd suggest Calcium Citrate/Malatate, and Magnesium Glycinate. If you want these nutrients from food instead I'd suggest Greek Yogurt.

I would add some more supplements to complete the stacks:

Early morning and/or late afternoon stack:

the animal-mstack: one pak every day for 21 consecutive days and 7 day rest. So, three weeks on, one week off.

+
usplabs compound 20: 2 capsules with breakfast and 2 capsules 6-8 hours later with meal or snack. For best results, take one of the doses 30-60 minutes prior to workout.

+
gnc multivitamin sport or source naturals life force multiple

When building muscle it is very important for your body to rest so that muscle tissue and other parts can repair and build upon itself. The most rest you get the whole day is when you sleep. The more high-quality sleep you get the more effectively your body can repair itself and grow (e.g. growth hormone secretion).

Before bed time stack:

gnc beyond raw re-forge: one pack prior to bedtime

+
source natural theanine serene with relora

+
source natural calcium citrate/malatate

u/narcoticfx · 2 pointsr/Fitness

multi: http://www.amazon.com/Controlled-Labs-Orange-Triad-Multivitamin/dp/B00104I5TS

kinda expensive but well worth it in my opinion. I honestly haven't been sick since I started taking multi regularly. You may not need everything in a multivitamin because of your food but small deficiencies will cause your immune system to dip at times putting you at risk for getting sick.

u/AndreDaGiant · 2 pointsr/swegan

  • Precooked quinoa seasoned with dried peppers + chicken stock/lemon juice (is eaten at room temperature)

  • Almonds/pistachio/macadamia/brazil nuts + hemp seed

  • Canned Tuna/Chicken and Dried Beef/Bison/Lamb/Camel/Salmon and Sausage/genoa/prosciotto

  • Broccoli lasts forever, cauliflower, carrots, hummus, beans, avocado

  • Jams/Preserves/Chutney/Conserve/Fruit Butter/Marmalade and Dried Fruit

  • Peanut Butter/Almond Butter/Nutella

  • Oats

  • Olive Oil

Many of these are all things which should last in warm weather. I added olive oil, because if you are able to drink it, 4oz has 1000 calories. You could replace fresh fruit with my Preserves/Marmalade category, or the dried variety. Instead of bread, coat the Peanutbutter/nutella onto granola bars.

You can make home-made granola and granola bars with TONS of great stuff, then everything is mixed into one bar/bag. Get creative:

  • maple syrup, honey, agave, rice sugar, brown sugar, wheat germ, wheat bran, oat bran, flax meal, whole and powdered nuts (walnut, cashew, pecan, pine, almonds, pistachio, macadamia, brazil), seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, hemp, sesame, flax), dried fruit (pineapple, papaya, apricot, mango, apple, kiwi, guava, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, boysenberry, cranberry, blueberry infused cranberry, raisin, golden raisin, figs, cherries), cereal (rice crispies, crushed mini wheats), coconut, chocolate, cinnamon, ancho chili pepper, salt, vanilla, butter, peanut butter, nutella, coconut butter, milk, water.

I would take one of these (bone+multivitamin) morning and night (daily "dose" is four pills, so you would still only be taking half what they want you to) if you are worried about getting vitamins and minerals.

Etsy has really pretty jewelry! A few of my favorites I've seen lately (or ones I've purchased as gifts for friends/family) fave 1, fave 2, fave 3

You said she has a ton of scarves, does she have something more like a cowl? They seem to be super popular lately, and sometimes scarves just don't give you the warmth you want like a cowl does. Here's a cool lookin' one.

Does she have cuddl duds? I have like three pairs and they are the most amazing thing ever. I live in the midwest and pretty sure these are the reason I still have all my limbs after 30+ mins of waiting at bus stops. My favorite is this kind, the 'flexfit' cuz it has a v-neck and has that loop for your thumbs - this would something she'd probably like to wear for running too maybe? They have matching legging/pants version as well.

Some other generic go-to's would be a perfume set from Sephora. The kind that comes with like 10 mini vials and then a voucher for a free full size of whichever you want from the set. Pretty sweet since you don't have to wonder what scent she'd like and even if she already has a fave perfume this gives her a chance to maybe find a new favorite.

This is kind of random, but have you heard of those fruit tablet things that change your taste buds? They sell them here and they're only like $14, I'm giving some as gifts in a gift basket with lemons/limes/grapefruit which from the reviews say they're the most fun to try.

Does she have any TOMS? That's always a great gift. Even in the winter they have different kinds that are more durable rather than the typical slip on TOMS.

A nicer necklace would be great too. My bf got me one from Swarovski for our one year and it was like...the best gift I've ever received. Some of their stuff is kitschy (hello kitty necklaces) but they really have some amazing pendants like this, this, and this.

Does she like reading? A nook could be cool! Or kindle fire, whatever they have out now.

These would be awesome! I've been wanting something like this forever. They were also featured on Shark Tank so that's kind of cool.

How uh...weird is she? This mug looks hilarious. But a more normal & cool looking one would be this!

Looking for mittens and she likes cats? Here ya go!

Wellllp that's all I can come up with right now, hopefully something helped!! :)

They are available on Thinkgeek as well. I did this one year, you address the packet of tablets to "everyone", and then wrap a lemon and/or lime for each person. The tablets, when dissolved on your tongue, make sour things taste sweet, so you can have a mini taste party. It's pretty cool and yummy, it makes a fresh lemon taste like sweet lemonade. Again, not very meaningful, and people will go "huh?" when they open the lemon, but once they try it it can be fun and something cool to experience. Supposedly the tablets are also pretty good for anyone that might need to keep away from sugar, because they can make things taste sweet without adding any sweetener.

u/w2a3t4 · 2 pointsr/phikappapsi

We buy a bunch of these and cut up limes, lemons, oranges, and grapefruit, and buy tobasco sauce and vinegar. You take a miracle berry and rub it around your tongue until it dissolves; it inhibits the sour taste receptors and sour things taste sweet. You can literally take shots of vinegar. Makes grapefruit taste like candy. Pretty much always our most popular rush event.

A nice ass joint roller and ash tray.

I don't know if you're only asking for weed related things, but this 15 dollar led strip has kinda changed my life lol. It's adhesive and super vibrant, turns your whole room and every thing in it different colors. Great decoration piece as well as party piece. Just peel and stick on the wall right below where it meets the ceiling.

If you're trying to blow a little more cash you can get a laser projector. I have a really nice one and it's one of my favorite things that I own. Super beautiful & trippy. You can spend between 20 and hundreds of bucks on one. I wouldn't advise going much cheaper than the one I linked, because getting a multi pattern one is pretty crucial.

Another amazing thing is Miracle Berry Tablets. It is legitimately called flavor tripping. Makes sour things taste sweet. Makes sweet things taste amazing. Beer is good too. The best things to try are fruits by far. Be sure to have some different berries and such, fruit juice, and definitely some lemons and limes.

u/ViviElnora · 2 pointsr/childfree

I don't have an eating disorder and I am not a doctor, so I don't know if this is the right way to handle things, so you should check with your doctor or psychiatrist before doing most of this. I have, among other things, an anxiety disorder, and Bipolar NOS, so I am basing my advice on what I have learned about self care from those, and on recommendations that my grandfather was given to help with his heartburn. Also, if this is sound advice for ED, I'm sure you know all this, but often when I'm going through a rough patch, I need someone to tell me to do my self care stuff.

If you haven't already, go through your kitchen and get rid of or lock up most of your high calorie/low nutrition food and everything that is really acidic. Go shopping for foods that are nutrient rich and lower acid. Also, get something like Ensure or Boost, it will help both with nutrition and lowering the acidity in your stomach. Eat mostly fruits and vegetables (you don't have to be vegan, you can still have meat, just eat it in moderation), and make sure you are eating enough insoluble fiber (whole grains, carrots, apples with the peels, leafy green vegetables, etc.). Stay hydrated and chew thoroughly. Eating like this will help get your food through your stomach faster. Taking a walk after eating helps too. ^1

If you haven't already, talk to your psychiatrist about taking vitamins (including a D3 supplement, the farther from the equator you are, the less you get naturally), calcium, and a probiotic. My psychiatrist recommend I take prenatal vitamins (I'm sorry, I know this could be hard for you right now). She told me they really should be the standard woman's vitamins, because most women need the extra folic acid, regardless of their plans for children. As for what kind of multivitamin to take, I recommend the Vitafusion Prenatal Gummy Vitamins. They don't have iron, so they are easier on your stomach and don't interfere with the absorption of calcium. I also like Vitafusion's Calcium. I have found that taking a calcium supplement helps with my heartburn. A probiotic (I don't know why but every time I try to type probiotic, it changes to phobic) should help the rest of your digestive tract cope better. I like gummy supplements because they are their own reward for taking them (I think they taste like regular gummies), and because they are chewed up, they should be absorbed faster.

Add something fun to your morning routine, something you will look forward to doing. I love to read, so I make sure to have time to read while I'm eating my breakfast (but I have to be sure to set a timer or get to work early enough to eat there, otherwise I get too distracted and end up running late which makes me stressed for the whole day).

Make yourself do something to treat yourself everyday. Very high quality ingredients, highly absorbable. Softgel form too. (Most multivitamin tablets do not get fully absorbed). You probably won't find a better multi than this, especially not at that price.

First of not a Doctor, but Ive been prescribed ativan along with my SSRI. I have been taking the SSRI daily and ativan when needed since August. I will say any benzo does has addictive qualities and i am a person who has an addictive personality. That being said i haven't abused it - have needed it to feel "normal" while i worked on my anxiety. I still use ativan once or twice a month however my doctor recommended lavender pills to try. https://www.amazon.com/Integrative-Therapeutics-Clinically-Occasional-Non-Habit/dp/B0072POIB8

This being said don't feel ashamed or embarrassed if ativan helps - however know it can be addictive so its there now for you to learn to cope with anxiety and there for the oh no moments when coping doesn't seem like enough. Good luck on your road to recovery.

If you really want to roll longer, I recommend possibly looking into sass (MDA). It's a bit more psychedelic and less empathetic than MDMA, but it has a noticeably longer roll as well. The trade-of is that it's supposedly more neurotoxic as well, but I doubt it's worse than redosing.

In regards to supplements, they're a must in my book. Not only do they help with the comedown (my worst comedowns were before I started using supplements and now they're almost non-existent with them), but they also improve your roll a lot as well. I personally swear by [Rave Aid] (http://www.amazon.com/RaveAid-All---One-Supplement-Vitamins/dp/B00B2XV82I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417057052&sr=8-1&keywords=rave+aid) as it has most of the vitamins and such outlined in this guide.

I normally only use them to smooth out the "keto flu" feelings when I'm entering ketosis. They do a great job of smoothing that out.

A biochemist friend recommended KetoCaNa. You can buy them on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/KetoSports-KetoCaNa-Supplement-Physical-Performance/dp/B00U7R7194/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1536162577&sr=8-3&keywords=ketocana

Tastes like an orange pre-workout drink. I don't mind it at all.

u/DrEnter · 2 pointsr/ADHD

I don't mind. I'm male, late 40's, 220 lb (100 kg), 6'4" (193 cm). I was the fifth of six children, but the only one diagnosed or apparently symptomatic with ADHD. I am ADHD/Inattentive (without hyperactivity). Unusual for the time (the mid-80's), I was diagnosed post-adolescence. I took Ritalin for 6 years until I started to adapt to it and the dosage was getting pretty high, so then I switched to Adderall (early-90's), which I still take. I've been lucky with Adderall, as I've been able to maintain a fairly consistent dosage for 20+ years and have it maintain efficacy.

As for supplements, I currently take the aforementioned magnesium glycinate (1 tablet/200 mg in the evening), a multivitamin in the morning (this one), and about 4 grams of fiber throughout the day (almost no one gets enough soluble fiber). I take a potassium supplement (labeled as 500 mg, but delivers 100 mg), but only as needed when I'm getting leg muscle spasms. I also take a methylated vitamin B12 supplement every other morning or so, less for ADHD than because I have this genetic thing where I don't absorb vitamin B unless it's methylated. All my siblings have it as well, I'm told it's very common.

I used to take a tablespoon or so of flax seed oil every day. I go back and forth with that. That seems to work well for me for a few weeks, but then the effects seem to taper off. I probably need to play with how I take that, maybe do a better job of taking it with food or something. Honestly, I've never been able to get the pattern of that one correct.

The best suggestion I can give you is to pay attention to your mind and your body, and don't be afraid to try new things to find the things that work for you. be patient, not everything that helps will help right away. Get enough sleep (something I struggle greatly to do), and if you can, meditate a few minutes every day. I don't really find meditation relaxing, but I do find that it helps me clear my mind later in the day. Most of these kind of things (vitamins, meditation, etc.) don't lead to dramatic changes, but small improvements that help out a bit or just in one way.

I use these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007YCC7S/

You might be able to find them cheaper elsewhere. Looking at my Amazon history, I've gone through 10 bottles, and most were about $16.

For better absorption, I split them in half and take them 12 hours apart. An alternative would be using a multi that's already divided into 2 or 3 pills per day instead of just 1.

i take a multi - before i started even losing any weight my doc recommended i try to find one with vitamin D and iron. i've taken the rainbow one women's multi for a couple years now - it doesn't upset my stomach and i have no complaints. no idea if it's effective or not but i continue.

i supplement my fiber - i've tried a half dozen different varieties and settled on this powder. it doesn't taste great but it works and it's easier for me to down a little glass than pop 6 capsules, etc.

i also take biotin - i have always had fine hair but around 70lbs down, found it was thinning significantly. my protein and fat macros were still looking good, and my multi is almost equivalent to a lot of prenatals, but i added in this biotin. i've been taking it for about 6 months and have noticed a definite uptick in new hair growth; although i have also been maintaining for about the last 6 months so i can't say for sure it's the biotin.

i eat protein bars quite a bit as well, although i typically have them as lunch instead of in a supplement role. i've tried most flavors from b-up, one, muscle pharm, quest and more, and my favorites are quest's apple pie flavor and muscle pharm's cinnamon combat crunch bar.

You could give Theanine Serene a shot, it has some herbs and crap that promote serenity and might help control your physical feelings of anxiety. I find after taking them it relaxes me noticeably, though I haven't had a panic attack in some years now so can't say whether it's effective in actually curbing them. Also you might check with your doctor about getting a prescription for some as-needed Valium (Diazepam), having some handy to take just as you feel a panic attack coming on can derail it fairly quickly. Good luck!

Honestly you're better off with something simple. Try this.

I've done natural T boosters and can share some thoughts. I don't feel that they raised my T, but I didn't get labs to compare. However, I do think they gave me energy when taken before training. I've tried Test Booster 1.0 and Nugenix. The Test Booster was the more affordable and has 1,500 mg per serving and the premium priced Nugenix has 3,000 mg per serving. Both kind of felt the same in the end: more energy throughout the day.

Eventually I made vitamins and minerals my main concern and I feel I've been having ore success with that. Now, I take 1x DHEA on an empty stomach before breakfast. Eat, then take 2x D3 (https://www.amazon.com/Life-Extension-Vitamin-5000-Softgels/dp/B000GTFOBA/) and 1x Trace Minerals (https://www.amazon.com/Life-Extension-Minerals-vegetarian-capsules/dp/B005MJTUEG/). The Trace Minerals has boron, zinc, magnesium, chromium, etc. All things associated with T. With lunch I take 2 Life Force Multiple (https://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-Multiple-Activator-Capsules/dp/B000GFPD0G/). Then 2 more with dinner. That's been my natural T boosting regimen as of late. Hope that isn't too tangential.

VegLife makes children's chewable multivitamins. These contain both B12 and iodine, along with many other vitamins and minerals. It has Vitamin D2, rather than the usually non-vegan D3. There is some controversy over D2 vs. D3. If your child doesn't get out in the sun a lot, you might consider adding a vegan D3 a few times a week. Eating mushrooms is also a good source of vitamin D, and mushrooms can make many forms of D including D2 and D3.

If it wasn't abundantly clear from start to finish, I thought it was clear I was just trolling for trolling's sake.

I know your kid is fine and I obviously don't want them to be harmed in any way. My daughter hit me with a toy hammer yesterday and I reprimanded her with instructions not to hit people (except your kids... jk).

My original response was going to be "if I weren't so lazy, I'd research which of the old gods were real and sacrifice a goat to them so your kid gets cancer. But that's hard af." So I actually toned it down a bit.

I was just overreacting for the sake of humor and hyperbole and you seemed to be taking the bait rather hard (though you could just be counter-trolling me, which is also amusing).

Which supplement are you using for B12? I take these sublingual methylcobalamin. And I give my daughter these because she likes em (I couldn't find good research on methylcobalamin vs cyanocobalamin in children, but with the eggs and milk in her diet I wasn't as concerned with B12 absorption from the supplements, and it isn't one of those 13,333% type deals).

I still think it's unreasonable to expect everyone to be able to raise vegan kids and I don't recommend it for most humans. Americans don't have any real excuses if they want to do it, but it's still hard in that it takes research and monitoring and full support from both parents. Most people can barely raise their kids not to be assholes, so expecting them to have the patience, knowledge, and persistence to properly feed their kids is 'hard'. Mine really just boils down to being in a mixed-diet house and a little over-cautiousness. And for others, I don't recommend it because it's more difficult than the typical lazy parenting we see in America. If someone's been vegan for 5+ years and hasn't had any issues with health and has a good support structure and has both parents/families on board and has done their research and can afford it (both financially and emotionally), then I say go for it. Those things aren't exactly "easy af".

Anyway, sorry if you were really upset, I thought it was pretty clear I was messing with you. Have a great weekend and I hope everyone you love gets anti-rickets.

The vast majority of research on Omega 3 cites 720mg of EPA and 480mg of DHA, and most Omega 3 supplements do not have enough of either. I suggest Trader Joe's Brand. The price isn't bad, and two of these a day will ensure you get enough.

As for multivitamin, I use Opti-Men but it really isn't that advantageous compared to a lot of others. I used to use Centrum Silver, and I will probably go back to that once I'm finished with Opti-Men. I hear good things about Orange Triad though.

It's a bit more expensive, but you can replace that whey protein with amino acids. They only have ~1 calorie per gram, instead of 4. They have higher bioavailability. Free-form amino acids don't need to be broken down by the liver, and get into the bloodstream much faster. I'm doing intermittent fasting, and I began losing muscle faster than I wanted to, but taking these has really helped. I take Monster Amino, in the morning and before bed. From what I've found, it's the most complete mix for its price. 15 minutes before working out and 4 hours afterwards, I take Extreme Nitric Stack for the FFAAs. It caused some skin flushing at first, but I instantly noticed increased endurance and faster recovery times followed.

I take this multivitamin, They are horse-pills, but you get a lot for the money. With Monster Amino, it approaches the tolerable upper limit for B6, so stop taking it if your hands start to tingle.

I also take calcium, magnesium, algal DHA, and L-Dopa, but those are more for helping with ADHD.

How much water are you drinking.

I was hungry a lot for the first week or so; I upped the water consumption, took supplements to ensure i was hitting everything [1], [2], [3] (#3, only because vegans have a hard time getting Omega-3 without meat) and it went away.

u/Pyronic_Chaos · 1 pointr/keto

Grab a multivitamin for your micros (I use Optimen, 1 tab per day), and just add some salt to daily food. Or Lawry's to everything in my case. I wouldn't suggest adding baking soda to your drinks, I doubt the sodium will dissociate to give you the electrolytic sodium needed (but I could be wrong).

Another thing I do is slightly coat BabyBel cheese rounds in some salt (mmhmm habanero salts from Esty). Easy low carb, salty snack.

This thing

looks like I remembered it wrong, it's just sour -> sweet which is probably useless in your case, sorry

u/AgentArcher · 1 pointr/AskReddit

they work I used this product though. I had to use two to really get the effect. Basically you let it dissolve on your tongue. I moved it with finger to didn't spots to get better coverage. Sweet doesn't change much, sour and bitter take super sweet.

  • TLDR: Yes, work. Guinness is best choc milkshake, Orange Great, Apple nothing, Strawberry no change, Lime and Lemons confuses the mind.

Congratulations!!!! :)

I think you'd like these Miracle Berries! Perfect for taste tripping parties (get a party together with your new co workers!), these berries turn sour foods to sweet, and sweet foods become even sweeter. I can't wait to try them myself while sampling different foods!

I think this is really cool, It is a live stone plant, once in a while it will split from the middle and it will blossom a cool little flower. Also I'm sure you know about the miracle fruit tablets, which make sour things, taste sweet

If you want to lose weight - cut out sugar and carbs from your diet. You can eat as much meat and vegetables as you want.

>Do you have any advice for losing more weight and keeping my unhealthy love for sweet food under control?

Here's an outside the box idea - buy Miracle Berries and switch to eating sour (miracle berries make sour taste sweet).

u/Rimshot1985 · 1 pointr/food

Seems like there are a lot of good protein suggestions already. Have you heard of Miracle Fruit? It's a berry that has a compound that temporarily (2 hours or so) turns sour things very sweet, meaning almost all fruits will taste 200% sweeter (lemons taste like candy).

I've read accounts of people undergoing chemo having good results gaining back some flavor, and it comes in pill form. I bought a pack for the hell of it and it's fairly nifty.

Could be for sure. My kids tend to drink water over milk, so they probably don't get as much dietary calcium as they are supposed to.

I use this brand: http://www.amazon.com/Vitafusion-Calcium-Vitamins-Adults-100-Count/dp/B003DRD3PG

2 gummies have 500mg of calcium, which is what I have found listed as the daily recommendation for kids. I don't think you can get too much calcium, but again, double-check.

I could really use some supplements and pain relief that my doctor wants me to take. Specifically, the Calcium, the Arthritis Acetaminophen and the Loratadine. I appreciate the help everyone!

In this article looking at several studied on lavender, the dose used was 80mg, and was compared with 1/2 mg of lorazapam. That might explain your trip :)

I bought this which this article said was used in a study.

I’ve a super healthy vegan from birth toddler, who is turning 4 on Monday. I’d suggest you exclusively breastfeed until at least six months (longer if you feel comfortable) then start introducing a wide variety of fruit, vegetables, beans and grains.

I started supplementing b12 at 9 months, but you could do it sooner, using this: NovaFerrum Multivitamin with Iron Supplement for Infants and Toddlers 50 mL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S7K1432/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.Y1CDbEV4TN3R.

I understand what you're going through and I really feel for you. I have the same exact problem with my son. He's a preemie, so he's smaller than normal already and I worry about him constantly. Besides being smaller than average, the doctor says he's healthy and developing properly though.

I just try to give him a decent variety of foods to eat throughout the day. I usually end up throwing everything away, but sometimes he surprises me and eats a whole bunch of something. He won't eat any fruits or vegetables but sometimes he'll eat muffins I bake, so I'll make pumpkin muffins or apple sauce muffins for him. I add ground flax seed or a bit of powdered protein for extra vitamins. Some days he eats them, some days he doesn't.

I've bought him lots of different vitamins but he doesn't take them, even gummy ones, so I just bought a new liquid vitamin to try. I put small amounts in his juice throughout the day instead of giving it to him all at once. I haven't gotten him to drink a full cup of it with the vitamins mixed in yet, but hopefully the little bit he's getting helps.

Since he's more likely to drink than to eat, I buy drinks high in protein, like this. I've also tried different kinds of smoothies (he doesn't like them). I give him organic whole milk because he asks for that now.

I grow veggies and picking them himself doesn't even get him interested. He likes telling me yuck when I ask him what he thinks about most food.

Hopefully it's all just a phase and nothing else is going on with your son's health. I would start with a call to your pediatrician's office and ask to speak with a nurse. The nurse should be able to tell you if you should bring him in or not and what you should do next. Good luck and I hope everything turns out ok!

u/SunnysideKun · 1 pointr/beyondthebump

My son was very picky when starting solids and especially didn't like things with iron, so I found some iron drops he actually tolerates most of the time: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S7K1432/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

He has spat them out a couple of times when he's in a bad mood but mostly he swallows it happily. When I tried it out it tasted not that bad at all, although clearly you do taste the iron.

My pediatrician only tested our son's iron at 12 months and I didn't want to find out there was a problem then which was why I started him at around 7 months on the iron drops, when it was clear he wasn't into baby oatmeal, chicken, egg yolks, beans, etc...

u/fukitol- · 1 pointr/keto

This stuff? Had never heard of it before. Does it work well?

Better, I suppose, for $5/serving.

u/Globbi · 1 pointr/keto

Getting out of ketosis isn't crossing some magic door that will close behind you. Depending on how much carbs and protein you eat, you might not notice it and be in ketosis again in the morning, or you might need another day. Depending on your health and genetics (mainly insulin resistance) you might have no adverse effects or get some headache because of chemical environment in the brain changes and because you end up with little or no keton bodies.

If you worry that you ate too much on a certain day, you might do a round of high intensity workout. Good punishment for yourself, use some glycogen storage, use the protein you ate for muscle building.

That said, keep in mind that recommended calorie and macro intake and very general and sometimes very wrong. If you continue eating like that and see no problem, it's possible that it's good for you.

If you want to be more resilient when you eat too much, you can consider spending money on supplements (MCT oil and exogenous ketons https://www.amazon.com/KetoSports-KetoCaNa-Original-Exogenous-Supplement/dp/B00U7R7194/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469884272&sr=8-1&keywords=keto+cana).

One thing I'm not sure about is the Ginkgo Leaf. That is Ginkgo Biloba correct?

Naturelo - 20mg Ginkgo Biloba, is more clear, but I'm guessing that is a lesser amount? It's hard to tell with Rainbow Light's description.

u/Noperiod · 0 pointsr/keto

Just as an FYI for vitamins, I feel like I'm doing a PSA advocating Source Naturals vitamins. They're made of the highest available sources (hence the name) and Significantly less is wasted through urine meaning better absorbable (bio-available) nutrients are used and absorbed by the body.

I had to learn way too much about vitamins... Cheap (non bio-available) ingredients just get pissed out.

u/TheYask · 0 pointsr/Swingers

OMG you want 'miracle' berries!!! They temporarily mess with your sense of taste so that sour and bitter things taste completely different--sweetish!

Put a few on a tray with grapefruit, lemons, limes, and maybe a few cheeses and vegetables. Light (heh, just don't overdo the cheeses), finger friendly, clean, and super fun to do in groups. Perfect for a night focused on sensual experiences!

Takeaways: Improved/instant energy, good taste (you will want to add more water to cut it)

I have no idea if it actually works to improve Ketosis but I can certainly tell you it gives me energy. I don't drink caffeine (heart skips beats on occasion) so I am sensitive to anything that "gives me energy" - This stuff does and doesn't make me feel weird.

u/horsenbuggy · -3 pointsr/keto

I don't know, I've never tried.

And stop damn downvoting me for asking an innocent question. Who made you the chocolate police?

I have to assume based on your replies and downvoting that you don't even know what tablets I'm talking about. It's a chemical from a real fruit that makes sour or bitter things taste sweet. I was just reminded of it and thought it could be a good tool in my keto arsenal. Educate yourself.
