The best - undisputed, an absolute marvel and benchmark in portable gaming. So many emotions, forever nostalgia.

The worst - I am just salty it isn't longer, thats why. It shouldn't be playing with my fucking heart like that

Heart Gold and SoulSilver are both $294.99 each on Amazon.

It's a matter of opinion. I think that FTL looks pretty nice while Terraria looks like crap, yet I never grew up with games that looked like that.

BTW, it's not 8-bit graphics. This is 8-bit. Note how everything isn't really shaded. Now compare it to Terraria. 8-bit means there is a 256 colour scheme. Here is the total amount of colours you can achieve on an 8-bit console. While it may seem like a lot, it's not that much if you compare it to what we have today.

Pixel art is the correct term. Terraria and most other games are usually either 16-bit or 32-bit, meaning you can have a more diverse colour scheme.

Most indie games aren't 8-bit, they're usually 16-bit or higher. Of course, there are some that try to be/are 8-bit (Cave Story and VVVVVV comes to mind), and since "8-bit" is fairly easy to copy (quick to make and easy to animate, as the sprites are usually small).

So if you have a limited budget (which 99% of indie devs do), then you'll more likely to get out more content/polish things up if you didn't spend 50 hours doing sprites.

Bottom line is this: most indie games use pixel art, not "8-bit graphics". And whether or not you like it is all up to you, it's your opinion.

Sorry if this came off as ranty, I just find it annoying when somebody gets the two terms mixed up.

u/PsiGuy60 · 23 pointsr/3DS

I have a Hori game case that holds 24 of 'em. Amazon page here, though it's also available in other colors (I have an entirely translucent one).

Good quality, should last a long time if used properly (don't just push the cartridge in from the top, slide it in pushing against the inner tab. It has a slight amount of give to it to prevent breakage).

I also have one of those same cheap Chinese ones and you're right - the tabs on those break easily.

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward has one of the best stories of any game i've ever played, and it happens to be on 3DS. It is, however, a sequel to the equally amazing 999 for DS. I would recommend getting 999 and finding out if it grabs you the same way it grabbed me, and then getting VLR if you want to. You can get 999 for 25 dollars on amazon. Very much worth it. http://www.amazon.com/9-Hours-Persons-Doors-Nintendo-DS/dp/B003VR5PPY Fair Warning: They are choose your own adventure visual novels. With lots of puzzles throughout. That being said they are still both fun and gripping games.

u/mrstickman · 19 pointsr/rpg_gamers

The World Ends With You. Hands down, flat-out, bar none. This game pulls off a miracle by making the gameplay and the plot about the same thing.

u/siriuslyred · 19 pointsr/AskReddit

Have you got a Gameboy (or DS!)? Any Gameboy will do! You got it?? Good!! Now, depending on the generation of Gameboy in your hand, follow one of these links:

Original -> Pokemon Red / Pokemon Blue / Pokemon Yellow - Pikachu Edition

Gameboy Color -> Pokemon Silver / Pokemon Gold / Pokemon Crystal

Gameboy Advance -> Pokemon Ruby / Pokemon Sapphire / Pokemon Emerald

Nintendo DS -> Pokemon Diamond / Pokemon Pearl / Pokemon Platinum

Nintendo DS -> Pokemon Black / Pokemon White

... and sort your life out!

EDIT: As people rightly pointed out, no 3DS Pokemon yet, fixed it!

That's... so weird. Just keep the cartridge. It has resale value. You never have to worry about being unable to play it.

I say just get a nice game case. I got this one from Amazon recently for my growing collection.

u/lsdlkjdsaf · 11 pointsr/3DS

I also own this game case, and it came with a plastic clip shaped like a DS game that fits an SD card specifically for this purpose. It's kind of useless to me since my SD card is always in my 3DS (The one in the picture is a spare), but it's convenient for this case because I only have 17 physical games (So far).

Okay So i just bought a New DS XL and I have been looking at games I would like. Then your comment comes along and tells me that they have indeed my favorite game of all time for a system I have just bought. WET PANTS. Then I look to purchase this game and find this http://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-SoulSilver-Version-Nintendo-DS/dp/B0038MTE7C

Thats right $129.99!?! that surely can not be the correct price...

I found a really good awesome cases on Amazon.ca.

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01G3X6ZME/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Super legit case. I love how the case is secured and connected by hinges(I have two New 3DS XL and two New 3DS systems. Some hinges of the systems are more loose, there seems to always be a variance or play) But this case makes your 3DS really sturdy and protects it.

They also have it for the New 3DS XL....

EDIT: Also for pouches and traveling, just buy any 3DS case and it will fit/suffice. I use this https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01J75ZEHM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00DWXUYN0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and this one for at home https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00VB0I8U2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Wash hands before playing, don't eat while you play, keep it in a hard pouch/case, use a screen protector, clean using a microfiber cloth, don't do stupid stuff like jam a coin into the circle pad to hatch eggs in pokemon.

For example, I use these for pouch / cloth / screen protector: https://smile.amazon.com/HORI-Hard-Pouch-Nintendo-NEW-3DS/dp/B00RZ7TC82

cloth: https://smile.amazon.com/Zeiss-Jumbo-Microfiber-Lens-Cloth/dp/B008PNNY02

screen protector: https://smile.amazon.com/HORI-Screen-Protective-Filter-Nintendo-NEW/dp/B00RZ7T8TK

edit - to add to this, I personally wrap my 3ds in the microfiber cloth before putting it in the pouch

Hey OP, I have some suggestions for you (these are on the DS side of things, as I don't have a 3DS yet because I've been mainly PC gaming). I copied this from one of my earlier posts on the same subject.

  • Elite Beat Agents - This is a rhythm game where you tap circles and draw lines while following the beat of a song, as secret agents dance in the background and try to save the world. I know it sounds kooky, and it is, but that's half the fun. The Japanese original, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, was such a huge cult hit that they came out with the English version in Elite Beat Agents. There are a bunch of great songs on it, and the covers are actually decent (a couple are better than the original). Each song opens with a story that introduces someone in need of your help -- and somehow it's your dancing/cheering which pushes him/her to succeed. The stories are often hilarious, but there is one that will rip your heart out and make you teary. Absolutely love this game. (Screen protector strongly recommended!)

  • Rhythm Heaven - Another rhythm-based game, but these two are just really fun and I decided to recommend both. Rhythm Heaven is different from Elite Beat Agents in that it's more a collection of mini games you need to beat in order to advance. There are about 5 mini games in a collection (and around 8 collections in all, I think), and once you beat each one individually, you are given a 'recap' round that basically mashes them all together. This game looks deceptively simple but can be so damn difficult at times that achieving success is so satisfying! The beats in this game are very catchy.

  • The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - Lovely RPG. I thought the visuals were beautiful, and it was fun to play. Not much to say except it's a Zelda game, an awesome and fun one at that. The game makes use of the DSL's touchscreen. Controls may be kind of a bit hard to familiarize yourself with if you're used to normal console controls for Zelda, but after a while you get the hang of it and it's really fun to slash your sword around.

  • Advance Wars: Dual Strike - Tactical turn-based strategy game where you try to battle it out with enemies and crush them all. I didn't think I'd like it, but I'm SO glad I gave it a try. I remember staying up late into the night playing this. It's really addicting. There's a sequel, Days of Ruin, but I've never played that so can't give a personal opinion on it. It comes highly recommended, though.

  • Rune Factory 3: A Fantasy Harvest Moon - Take the original Harvest Moon games that were about farming and raising animals and getting to know people in your town, and add in some RPG-ish dungeon crawling (where you can also tame monsters to help out on your farm), and you have Rune Factory. I will always have a soft spot for Harvest Moon games; this just adds another element to it.

  • Mario Kart DS - This is fun, and there's just something addictive about it that kept me coming back for yet another round. I liked this version, though some people do say the controls are a bit off, but I never experienced that.

Other games that have been strongly recommended by others (but I have not played):

  • Final Fantasy III
  • Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
  • Radiant Historia
  • Kirby Canvas Curse
  • Advance Wars: Days of Ruin

For both N3DS and N3DSXL systems

Some of these can also be found from retailers online, like Best Buy and Target. I generally use Best Buy, Amazon, and eBay, but check other retailers just in case.

Case: Looking for a protector that protects your system from scratches? Most people recommend the HORI TPU case. NA currently has one for the XL (LL in Japan), but you'll have to import one for the standard size.

  • HORI TPU case for N3DSXL or sometimes the one from Japan is cheaper.
  • HORI TPU case for N3DS, or just search "New 3DS HORI TPU" and look for the ones without XL/LL in the title.

Looking for a pouch to keep your system from dust or to carry on-the-go and protect them from falls? There's sooo many options you can just search up on Amazon and eBay, not to mention other Japanese import sites.

  • HORI Hard Pouch for N3DSXL is what I went with for my Fire Emblem N3DSXL. Looks plain and I admit I usually go for something different, but when I received it, it screamed good quality. It's black and looks classy, and there's room for 6 cartridges and a stylus. It also fits a system with the HORI TPU on. Alternatively, you can use this for the standard N3DS because it has a strap that will keep it in place.
  • CyberGadget Mint Semi-Hard case for N3DSXL - I originally went for this one. It's fine if you just want to carry around your system, but that's all the room it has. It also had a weird chemical smoky smell that I'm still trying to air out (it's been over 2 weeks now). If the smell ever gets out, I'll use it. Maybe it's just the one I purchased.
  • Trunk Case for N3DS - I have the blue one, and it's decent quality. These trunk cases seem to be in and out of stock though, and prices are unstable. If you can find one for a good price, I'd recommend it.

Screen Protectors: Screens will inevitably get scratched, as careful as anyone can be. If you're someone who cannot stand scratches or want to keep your system in perfect condition, you can't go wrong with screen protectors.

  • HORI Standard Screen Protectors for N3DSXL is what I had on my old N3DSXL. Here's one for the N3DS. Appliance is easy and they don't interfere with the 3D at all.
  • HORI Blue Light Filtering Screen Protectors for N3DSXL and ones for the N3DS - I just wanted to reduce the blue light because I mainly play before I sleep. Research a bit about blue light if you'd like. I like them, they do the same job as the standard ones with the added blue light filtering.

Micro SD card: Can't go wrong with Sandisk, and I purchased the 32GB since that's the highest Nintendo says the system will support. Any higher and you have to format it to FAT32 in your PC so the system will recognize it. Any good brand will be fine though, but I just go with Sandisk all the time.

Stylus: This DSi stylus is so damn comfortable. I never thought it mattered because I just put up with the cramping, but I purchased some items on the Nintendo Online store, so I went for it. It's all I use now. The cheapest shipping is $5 on the store though, so go for it when you're ordering other items with it.

    Customization?
    For N3DS
Coverplates: Amazon.JP if you have a forwarding service like Tenso. I like AmiAmi, but it's hard to catch the plates sometimes. PlayAsia tends to be more pricey, so sometimes you're better off just looking on eBay if your last resort is PlayAsia.

    For N3DSXL and N3DS

Charms: Basically the same as the above. Many options around Etsy, just search what you want up. Up to your discretion. :)

    Overall
Yeah, I'm a HORI fan. Their products have been solid for me, so I have no qualms with them. I just wish more of their products would appear in NA so shipping times would be shorter, but I think the wait times have been worth it anyway.
u/rarelypost · 6 pointsr/patientgamers

The 2DS is a 3DS model, so you can play 3DS games as well. If you are going to use an R4 card, you'll have to pay attention to firmware versions and what cards work with which ones.

I personally don't use an R4 card, I just grab a few DS or 3DS games every now and then when there's a good sale. It's not really worth the hassle for me, plus I like having access to the eShop.

You can also put all of your DS and 3DS games in a Hori case, which I found works really well.

u/UndeadArgos · 6 pointsr/gamecollecting
u/SpartanMonkey · 6 pointsr/3DS

I call this my "Executive 3DS case".
People think it's a smartphone case when they see it on my desk.
Edit: Also, I'm 45. I'm not much younger than the old farts that manage me.

u/snuxoll · 6 pointsr/Design

I don't know about you, but http://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-Black-Version-Nintendo-DS/dp/B004EW2PC6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1302330395&sr=8-1 is really hard for me to type in on my phone, even shortened url's can be a giant pain when all I have is the software input panel on my HTC Surround. QR codes are awesome, I point my camera at them and my browser opens up whatever lengthy URL I need to go to. I don't know why so many people consider them gimmicky or useless, they aren't there to 'replace' existing information like URL's and contact information, but to augment it and make it easier to get into a users phone.

u/bigkongboss · 5 pointsr/3DSdeals

Please, Pleaaase start with the first game on the DS, then work your way towards completing them in order. It is a very strongly story based driven game. You will miss out on huge chunks of story if you start elsewhere.

u/illbeinmybunk · 5 pointsr/GirlGamers

Assassin's Creed is a great game series, but it's pretty violent - you play an assassin, after all. If you want to give it a shot, start with AC2 - it's a much better game than AC1.

Given that you liked Phoenix Wright (oh I do love Feenie.. there need to be more games in that series like yesterday), you could give Ghost Trick a shot. It's got a very similar sort of "feel" to it, though it's a bit more puzzle-y and less investigate-y, if that makes sense. It's by the same folks who did PW, for what that's worth, and I highly enjoyed it. I found the puzzle concepts really neat, too.

And given that you like mystery novels, I recommend 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors. Lots of drama, puzzles, decisions, and many different endings. Also lots of reading - it feels more like a book than PW did, to me. I haven't finished this one myself, but it sounds like it might be something you would enjoy. I liked it well enough, it was just more serious that what I was looking for at the time, and I haven't gone back to it yet.

Note, I'm assuming you have a DS of some fashion, since you said you'd played PW; both Ghost Trick and 999 are DS games.

Hope you find something that you enjoy, and happy gaming!

My favorites:

[Sweet Fuse: At Your Side] (https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/games/sweet-fuse-at-your-side/cid=UP1024-ULUS10652_00-BAKUDANHANDAN001)

Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom

Corpse Party

Corpse Party: Book of Shadows

999 already mentioned by another in this thread.

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward The sequel to 999.

Also, to a lesser extent anything by Winter Wolves. I've played a few and a lot of them are now on Steam too. These contain a bit more busy work than I'd like, but some solid stories there.

u/mtama22 · 5 pointsr/3DS

The clear Hori case is nice. I have the red one with my red 3ds xl, but it will keep the outside of your console safe. The Hori carrying case is nice too, but only holds 6 games (7 if you keep one in the 3ds). I have this one:

http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Retro-Mario-Pouch-Nintendo-Black/dp/B00DWXUYN0/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1393959834&sr=1-1&keywords=hori+mario+case

Surprisingly it's $2 cheaper than the regular. The 3ds with the protective cover fits in this case, but it's a tight fit.

Why don't you like screen protectors? I have screen protectors on all my electronics with screens, but I follow a long process to get them on. I don't even notice my screen protectors anymore. I don't know about the circular bumpers, but I'm also worried about scratching up my bottom screen with the stylus. Good luck.

u/anaharae · 5 pointsr/3DS

I imported mine from Japan. It is made specifically for the n3DS. It holds 3 physical games, and has dual zippers.

You can get it for $14 on eBay.

I also use this Mario case. It has a slot for a long stylus, which I use alot. It holds 6 games, and has dual zippers aswell. Although its bigger, it includes n3DS on the package along with the XL, but a strap to hold it in.

Hori 24 game case

Edit: Oops didn't see that you wanted a cloth case.

u/Carole4815 · 4 pointsr/3DS

I got the Hori 3DS game card case on Amazon. It's $9.99. It has slots for 24 game cards (one of which is really for an SD card) and holds both 3DS and DS game cards. I can also fit a spare stylus in it although I'm not sure if there is a designated space for it or not. Anyway, this case seems OK to me. I have had others that broke but this one hasn't yet.

I use this case for my XL. I keep it in my back pocket. Not oversized pockets, feels heavy but it keeps it cushioned and holds 3 games, which means I can have 4 on hand.

u/berserkering · 4 pointsr/gaming

Yep, the credit doesn't apply to EVERYTHING but it works for most things. Just read the Bonus Offers near the release date. You can get either black or white, of course.

u/FuzzyMcLumkins · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Hmm.. I would say check out This as a starter, since there are a couple of games in the series. But it is cheap enough, I'm assuming your budget is less than 30 dollars since that's the typical 3DS/DS game prices. But I would say check out Phoenix Wright, it's a pretty good puzzle game and it makes you think on your feet on what to say during the trials. I normally don't like thinking on my feet, but it's fun to see the consequences change when you mess up, so yes. it is possible to fail a case and move onto another one.

You can also check out Animal Crossing: New Leaf for a simple game as well. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as well for a puzzle/action game. That's all I can think off on the top of my head for the 3/DS games. Enjoy! :)

i'm not joking, there's not even any debate to this, the DS one is flat out the best version

This is my favorite case for the 3DS XL, says it's for the DSi XL so you can get it really cheap and fits the system and games perfectly. The "leather" actually feels surprisingly nice, one of the better feeling fakes for sure. Inside is your typical soft case material. It's thinner than many of the zipper designs and probably protects a little less, but if you're throwing it in a bag the size is great.

  • Joke: A guy meets a hooker in a bar. She says, "This is your lucky night. I’ve got a special game for you. I’ll do absolutely anything you want for $300, as long as you can say it in three words." The guy replies, "Hey, why not?" He pull his wallet out of his pocket, and one at a time lays three hundred-dollar bills on the bar, and says, slowly: "Paint…my…house."

Super happy birthday to you! I hope it's a great one.

I have this one:

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B004K6LQAS/ref=twister_B004SLTGF2?_encoding=UTF8&th=1

There are cheaper variants, but I can't speak for how effective they are. This one holds cartridges very firm into place so they don't fall out ever, while still being easy to take out from the sides.

u/edzo004 · 3 pointsr/3DS

You need one of these

u/SeaShanties · 3 pointsr/3DS

I got the hard case so I can carry it in my purse without having to worry about scratches and it'll hold a few games, stylus, AR cards and cable cord. Only complaint I've seen on videos is there's like a 1/2" wiggle room side to side, but don't think it'll beat up too much in my purse, or can modify it with a little strip of sponge/cushion.

I also got a case for 24 games because I don't like sorting through each game box, and a lot of used stuff I got from Game Stop came in a paper sleeve.

I got an extra power cord so I don't have to keep unplugging it from room to room, but would definitely recommend a USB cable, I'm probably going to get one of those as well, but was sold out when I went looking last week.

I'm sure you can price shop - but that's what I picked up as a new 3DS XL owner!

Edit: OH!! Definitely get a top and bottom screen protector - I got the Invisible Shield or whatnot from Best Buy while I was there, I didn't want my pretty new screen scratched from all the tap tap tapping.

u/Good_ApoIIo · 3 pointsr/gaming

Don't include the ROMs, and you're golden. Really though, since the SNES/NES patents have been dead, there are plenty of decent clones available already...and they're portable. I have the SupaBoy and it's pretty neat and I've heard really good things about the PokeFAMI DX but I believe it can only play Super Famicom games.

[EDIT]
Actually it looks like they sell a version of it without an OS? So maybe you can do whatever with it.

u/mattmonkey24 · 3 pointsr/nintendo

I use this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019IFIJW8/

It can output power and input at the same time (charge and discharge simultaneously). It can use type c or micro usb for charging. It can output 3a via type c. For a power bank, it has everything you need

And for a case I'll get one very similar to this one because it is not overly bulky, but still very sturdy.

u/legoknight · 3 pointsr/3DS

HORI makes some pretty cool cases. I just picked up this retro 8-bit Zelda case about a month ago. I love it so far. They even make a Mario and Luigi variation. All of them have space for six games and an extra stylus slot.

  1. I got the first model of the DS, and I played the hell out of it. Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Pokemon - many games entertained me for hours. However, I then made the foolish move to buy Guitar Hero On Tour for it. The screen is now more or less unusable, it is so nonsensitive. Since then, I have not had the money or opportunity to replace it, UNTIL NOW.

  2. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B004EW2PC6/ref=sr_1_cc_3_olp?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1372654769&sr=1-3-catcorr&keywords=pokemon+white&condition=used

If this is sold, you dont need to get me a game - I appreciate the DS alone.

  3. Radler is rad. And that's a fact
u/Has_Question · 2 pointsr/Games

I don't know how much bigger it would have been, but it's already pushing portability for a handheld as it is with the Joy-Cons included.

It's not that digital media isn't popular, it's that I don't see the inconvenience of carrying a game seperately when compared to having a lighter slimmer handheld. I keep my 3ds games in one of These and it's worked out very well.

u/icravedanger · 2 pointsr/3DS

Nintendo has a lot of "official products" that they don't make, but they license other companies to make. For example, these are official Nintendo game cases too.

http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-Game-Card-Case-24/dp/B004K6LQAS

As for the Club Nintendo rewards game cases, they're not available right now. People sell them on eBay for around $20-25.

I like the Hori game card case, if you're looking for any case and not that one in particular.

u/Tizzysawr · 2 pointsr/3DS

Amazon carries it for the price listed on Hori's website! Here's the link.

u/dom_8 · 2 pointsr/3DS

You can get a 3DS case that can hold your games and system or you can look to get a game card holder

u/impatiensbloom · 2 pointsr/3DS

That case was based on this officially licensed case by Hori: http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-Game-Card-Case-24/dp/B004K6LQAS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451868386&sr=8-1&keywords=hori+3ds+game+case

I have both the original and the knock-off, and the original has all the cards rightside-up, and it has a removable clip for your sd card. The original is also considerably more durable, since my knock-off is on its last legs after a couple of desk-height falls.

u/chezkevin · 2 pointsr/pokemon

The preview images have a little plastic insert in the steelbook that has space for two of the cartridges. I'm betting it's just the steelbook without any other game case, but I could be wrong.

If you want to play it safe, you could get one of those cartridge cases: https://smile.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-Game-Card-Case-24/dp/B004K6LQAS

or get the games individually at $32 each. Or, give your friend the steelbook.

u/Derko1 · 2 pointsr/3DS

Just a suggestion... I just recently bought this one. It holds the game tight and is pretty nice and compact. I do wish I would have gotten the case from clubnintendo, but don't have the coins for it either. It isn't available anywhere else. Haven't been able to find it on eBay either.

The only thing I am hoping, is that with it all being discontinued, they'll some how end up on their site for regular ordering.

Hi :)

Pokemon Black 2

I havent had a chance to get it yet.. and I really want to play because its pokemon... lol

u/DeeBeeR · 2 pointsr/ShouldIbuythisgame

Animal Crossing: Wild World: It's an amazing game and was one of my first games on a Nintendo DS. There's so much to do in the game and I would really recommend it. Also, the more recent Animal Crossing (New Leaf) is a huge improvement from Wild World. I would deeply recommend that aswell, but it's for 3DS.

Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands: Harvest Moon is a game that's similar to Animal Crossing but it's mostly about looking after your farm, growing crops, raising animals, etc. It's extremely fun and a huge time sink.

Pokemon Black 2: It's a Pokemon game, you can't really go wrong. It's like every other Pokemon game - Fun as heck! You can also buy Pokemon White 2 which is just about the same with little differences like the UI. A list of differences can be found HERE.

My list may not really be descriptive as they're my personal opinion on the games, but if you want to know more about the games, ask me :)

u/Gr8NonSequitur · 2 pointsr/3DS

I have an 8 Bit Zelda case that holds 6 games. I also have a 64 GB SD card in my 3DS. I tend to buy single player games physical but multiplayer games digital so it's always with me and I can throw down with my son at a moment's notice.

u/nectarprime · 2 pointsr/3DS

Cases like this will totally fit:

http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Retro-Zelda-Hard-Pouch-Nintendo/dp/B00ND0EBP4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422474932&sr=8-1&keywords=3ds+xl+link+case

Cases that fit over your 3ds while you use it, like the HORI TPU cases, will obviously not fit. There is a new version of them coming out though.

u/Negat1veCreep · 2 pointsr/3DS

The charging cradle is great, unfortunately it leaves you unable to put a case on the new 3DS. If you want to protect it from scratches, you can use a skin. There are clear skins if you want to preserve the look of your 3DS. If you want to change things up a bit, you could buy a skin with a design, or design your own. I made this one at decalgirl.com. If you don't want a full skin, there are some cool decals to be found on ebay and etsy.

If you want a pouch, most made for the older 3ds XL will fit the new one. There are simple ones like this from Hori. It is currently available in all black or with various graphics (Zelda, Mario, NES controller), and it also has room for 6 game cartridges. If you want something fancier, there is the popular city slicker and gear pouch pro from sfbags, or you could get something custom from etsy.

As for screen protectors, the new 3ds xl has the same size screens as the older model, so any screen protectors that fit the old xl will work.

u/smaller_god · 2 pointsr/3DS

This. If you wanna game a bit while you stroll on the treadmill for some post-workout cool-down that's ok.
I've never understood the people that go to the gym and spend the whole time on treadmills, cycles, elliptical.
If you wanna change your body, the free weight area is where you want to be. Get whatever music works for you, and get your head in the game.
That said if you want to keep your 3ds safe, my recommendation would be something from HORI

u/ImReddit · 2 pointsr/3DS

The Hori Line is fantastic. There are mario/zelda themed ones out as well.

I highly recommend.

u/ninja_llama · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Wait but I thought you were looking for 3DS games....?

There are Professor Layton games for DS as well that are really good, if you have one of those. I also LOVE the Phoenix Wright games. They sound kind of boring but they're so much fun, so challenging and absolutely the best games I've ever played. And they also take forever to play so such a good investment. You can get the first one for $20 on Amazon.. It is actually the best game I've ever played (at least on DS) I think.

u/DerfK · 2 pointsr/gaming

The medium is generally called Visual Novels. As story-telling vehicles, they run the range of linear stories with pictures and music to the equivalent of those old D&D "gamebooks" with character sheets and combat systems and if you rolled a 4 turn to page 88. (Though if it goes too far in this direction you'll have purists claiming it's a dating/princess/whatever sim instead of a visual novel.)

Content-wise, just like other novels they can be about pretty much anything, including scraping the bottom of the alt.sex.stories barrel.

> Are they just cartoon sex simulators for sad pervs

Lots of them are. Porn gets everyone's attention and sex sells (probably should mark this one NSFW), so they're what everyone hears about.

> or is there more to them

Plenty more. Steam's been collecting a few recently, both translated from Japanese and original titles.

As with anything else, Sturgeon's Law applies.

> I've never seen a game like this in a store

Look a little harder :)

u/xoNightshade · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I think my favorite moment was playing A Link To The Past for the first time and literally staying up all night with paper around me to figure out puzzles (I was only about 12 at the time, they were still hard!).

This one, because I don't have it yet

If I win, used is fine if you want to save some money or pick another winner :D

u/reticentbias · 2 pointsr/gaming

FF tactics is a great one, though it's far inferior to the PSX version.

I can also whole-heartedly recommend Golden Sun, though it's not as deep of an RPG, it's extremely fun. Etrian Odyssey is as hardcore as they come, so it may or may not be your cup of tea. You actually explore and draw your own dungeon maps in it, and the class combinations are nuts.

If you aren't a big fan of JRPGs, you probably won't like The World Ends With You but you'd be doing yourself a great disservice if you skipped it.

There's also Chrono Trigger, which, if you never played it, deserves a chance to be seen. It is definitely an old school JRPG though.

FF3 and FF4 are both great if you like that kind of thing, but if you're not into JRPGs, again, you probably won't enjoy them.

I really loved the most recent Dragon Quest, even though it is decidedly old school and very much a JRPG in the traditional format. But it does a lot of things well, and the class system is deep and rewarding.

Bioware made a Sonic RPG, though I haven't played it so I can't recommend it.

The Castlevania games are all awesome, but they're RPGs like Diablo is an RPG.

If you're looking for more western-style games, you might like the Mario and Luigi titles. They're riddled with amusing dialog and highly-interactive combat. (It's turn-based, but you can press buttons to dodge or counter-attack when the enemy is attacking.) A lot of people seemed to like Bowser's Inside Story best, although I liked Partner's in Time better. Partner's in Time forces you to use all four face buttons during combat whereas Bowser's Inside Story only uses two face buttons (plus the touch screen and mic for some battles); I think some people may have preferred Bowser's Inside Story for its simpler controls whereas I preferred Partners in Time for the exact opposite reason. That being said, both games are pretty beginner-friendly.

If you're looking for something "BioWare-esque," Devil Survivor might be the closest to what you're looking for. It has a plot with branching story paths, and the decisions you make can impact the flow of the story in very meaningful ways. (There are certain player characters that can permanently die depending on what actions you take.) It's not nearly as nuanced as something from BioWare, but there are still potential endings, and the decisions you make throughout the entire game have a bearing on which ending you can take. The only character that you can fully spec is the main character, but you have complete control over the skills for all of your human units, and a limited amount of control over the stats/skills for your monster units. n.b.: A remake of Devil Survivor is coming out later this year for 3DS, so if you were planning on buying it, you might want to hold off until this summer when the remake comes out. That being said, if you're not sure you want to pay full price and find the original Devil Survivor on sale for $15 or something, you might want to pick it up.

Several comments regarding The World Ends With You: It looks like the game is $16.50 on Amazon if you can't find it locally. I tried playing TWEWY several times and quit before getting more than an hour in simply because of how much I hated the main character. Neku's unbearable nature is intentional. It's difficult to explain why without giving up too much of the plot, but the game gets a lot better, and once I gave it a chance, it managed to hit its stride much faster than I had expected. The game doesn't really start to get fun until you get a nice selection of pins to choose from and have more freedom to explore different areas, but fortunately this all happens within the first hour of gameplay. Also, be aware that some of the pins are terrible and not fun at all to use. The idea is that out of the hundreds of pins that the game offers you, you find maybe a dozen or so that you actually like and play most of the game with those pins. (There are also several pins that are basically clones/upgraded versions of previous pins, which you'll discover when you try them out.) Try everything once to see if you like it, and if not, just move onto the next thing.

Event Pokémon are limited time Pokémon and back on the DS I had a gameshark to hack in any event Pokémon that I didn’t have. Some of these event Pokémon caused special things to happen in the games like unlocking the ability to catch the Regi trio in HGSS or Spikey Eared Pichu.

This is more about experiencing something again and realizing that in order to do so with what I have I’d have to literally erase the old saves, not about getting a living dex.

Also in terms of “buy a new copy of old games”, digital ones from Nintendo are one thing, but this is just ridiculous

OH GAMES! I can't decide just one so these two are pretty grool:

  • 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors For DS. It looks so cool. It is the precursor game to the other one, but I read it wasn't 100% necessary to play beforehand. Still looks awesome though!
  • Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward For 3DS! This game got great reviews and just seems so fucking cool. I have been on the hunt for more games like this, but sadly, a lot of them are only sold in/for Japan.

My favorite game is Touch Detective. I love all of them. I cant wait for the next one! Whenever it actually gets released here that is :( New or used is fine with me! Thanks so much for this contest :) It's an awesome idea!

Hah, I just made a post that was vaguely similar... I'd actually say check it out and see if there are any you haven't played but that sound interesting to you. I'd be really happy to elaborate on the appeal of any of the games on that list that I enjoyed.

The first one I'd say you should give a try is Bow Street Runner, though, which is a surprisingly good flash detective game with a nice historical element to it. The puzzles aren't that difficult but are enjoyable enough, the acting is actually reasonably good, you get to be a detective in Georgian England, and it's just fun.

I'd also say Ghost Trick should be something that you would definitely enjoy. It's basically your brief - a high focus on story and character development, solving puzzles & intrigue, and a bit of a pressure element (difficulty). You can't go wrong here. I loved the shit out of it, and I think you will too. Since you mentioned having a DS, try this!

Also, if you have an Android phone, Layton Brothers: Mystery Room is definitely a must try. It's a series of Locked Room Murders that you have to solve, and it resembles the AA games much more than it does the Layton games in terms of how it goes. The characters are all pretty fun as well, and I really enjoyed this and would strongly recommend it as well.

Edit: I also totally forgot to mention - 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors. It's a puzzle/visual novel kind of thing, and I found it very engaging. The plot is definitely sort of a brain twister kind of thing in the 'what even is going on' sense, but everything is explained in a pretty satisfactory way at the end. Definitely consider this one. It's basically Room Escape: The Game, but it does that very well.

u/unjustifiably_angry · 2 pointsr/nintendo

Start with this

Then get this

And never save during an "escape" sequence, only during "story" sequences. There's a bug and it might corrupt your save data.

u/hoppenscooter · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I would love to get the DS for my mom. When I was a little kid, she would play Pokemon with me all the time and I'd love to play the games with her again. I'd give her my old DS, but sadly mine broke and I had to replace it with a 3DS. I bought a copy of each Pokemon game when I had a job so I don't need any of those. Admittedly selfish of me, I'd like this game for myself.

Edit: I somehow managed to forget that Radler is rad

u/TheDrunKnight · 2 pointsr/gaming

This is as close as you will probably get 😿

u/zombicidalscientist · 1 pointr/gaming

Edit (for the lazy):

  • Professor Layton
  • Phoenix Wright
  • Myst
  • Dear Esther (not really a game)

Almost anything on the DS is a decent start if you have one. Professor Layton is an amazing series with some great puzzles to keep her thinking. There's no combat and no hard new control schemes to learn. Phoenix Wright is another fantastic series but there is some violence in the sense of "murder-mystery/crime" stuff to set up the cases you take and the puzzles you solve. Again, no combat here, it's exclusively puzzle solving.

As old as it is, Myst is another great game to show her (I think anyway) that encourages puzzle solving and reading. You can also get it for pretty cheap. Personally, I prefer realMyst because you get to roam freely but the Masterpiece Edition is truer to the original and doesn't force you to use first-person controls.

If you have a game that uses the Source engine you might want to get Dear Esther for her to look at. It's not so much a game as it is an interactive story told using a first person perspective. There's no combat or anything you simply walk around and explore an island. There's a bit of a ghost story aspect to it but it's not scary at all. It's closer to mysterious. Since TF2 is free you should be able to get Dear Esther to work without buying HL2 or anything like that.

While I really enjoy Portal and love Portal 2 I don't think they're necessarily good games for people new to gaming. The first-person perspective can be a HUGE barrier to entry especially for people that think of things like Mario when they think of games. Plus, if you're looking for a 'wonderful story' Portal's story doesn't really fit the bill (IMO). It's wonderful in the sense that it has wit and charm and some depth if you want to really over-interpret it but in the end it's a short game about escaping from a test facility.

u/Azarius · 1 pointr/gamingsuggestions

Holy crap, there's a lot more of them then I had previously thought. I take it this is the first one? I have never really played these types of games before, but always up for something fresh and new!

Not sure if its really allowed because it acts like a mini wireless router... I think it should be ok because the signal strength is so weak

u/SEJIBAQUI · 1 pointr/pokemon

Nintendo DS systems are fishy about wireless networks. I'd suggest going over to /r/techsupport or a related subreddit, considering this is more about networking than pokemon. This raving lunatic was dying in my arms. Wait, why is he putting his glasses on my fa....

Where once nothing stood, a blond teenager manifested, his left hand spread over his sick, smiling face, and in his right hand gripped a still smoking gun.

I stammered, "Who the hell ar--"

"You weren't supposed to put the glasses on", the boy sighed, cutting me off, sounding as if I'm nothing more than an inconvenience as his left hand drooped from his face, revealing a bored expression. The gun shifted away from the homeless man to me as I took off.

Boom

Ripping through the newly formed crowd I heard that gunshot tear through the air and burrow itself into my back. damn, I thought to myself as warmth overtook my body, and as my vision faded a hand gripped my hair and jerked my face towards theirs.

The boy was kneeling in front of me, the sick smile back on his face. "Well, I'm sorry you died, but you get to play the reapers' game, lucky you", the words tauntingly dripped from his mouth, my senses finally fading away.

------------
For anyone who doesn't know, the reapers' game is a reference to The World Ends With You, a fantastic little known gem from the DS. It's highly recommended.

u/MMMMTOASTY · 1 pointr/gamingsuggestions

I tried so hard to ignore Diablo III, but when I saw a playthrough of the monk in the open beta, I blacked out a few minutes into it. When I came to, I found myself on this page. Unfortunately I don't have enough money at the moment to buy it when it comes out, but I'll definitely be looking forward to playing it when I do.

I understand what you mean about Skyrim though, I've sunk about 30 hours into the game and can't bring myself to play the damn thing anymore (though admittedly, that's probably more gameplay than I could get out of a lot of games these days). There's just too much content and not enough substance in some of these open world games, and for some reason all the decent linear RPGs have been floating over to the mobile market like you said. Just look at some of the JRPGs the DS has to offer, like The World Ends With You (more commonly known as: "The Best Thing Square Enix Has Done In Years") and Radiant Historia (both of which could probably be emulated if you so desired). So yeah, buying a PSP or DS might not be a bad deal.

On an unrelated note, can I ask you a quick question? I haven't played any Zelda games since ALTTP and have been looking to get back into the series for a while now, but can't really decide which one I should jump into. So, between Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Wind Waker, which would you recommend the most?

This is definitely an underutilized mechanic, which is a shame. There are only two other games that spring to mind that use drawing as a means of combat and/or world interaction. In case you're interested, these are:

The Void: An extremely abstract game, but strangely alluring (both in gameplay and world design) to me.

The World Ends With You: You may have already heard about this one. It's way more approachable than The Void, and if you like eclectic J-Pop/Pop music, it's super fun to fight to the music.

If that's not obtainable it's on Steam right now. Other versions include SNES (expensive cartridge, like Earthbound), Playstation 1 (paired with a Final Fantasy game). I don't wanna break rule 5 so I'll just say SNES classic edition as well.

As an older gamer, I thought about this thread last night after commenting. I was thinking about all the great RPGs available on the DS. Nothing wastes time away like a good story RPG. OP, I do have to mention that usually Nintendo games in general don't lose value, when they become out of print. In fact sometimes they go up, like with the Pokemon games (Heart Gold is 294.99!!! on Amazon right now, https://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-HeartGold-Version-Nintendo-DS/dp/B0038MVFYC)

There's no issues you have to deal with a used Wii U, since if you can just erase the system data once you get it and make your own nintendo ID account. If you get it refurbished from Nintendo's website, then it's probably already done for you, and from what I've heard it runs well since when they're refurbishing they replace most of the components with new replacements anyway.

Sadly titles on the Wii U, don't go for sale frequently at least not first party. Usually Capcom, and others are good for digital sales, I think they had Monster Hunter 3U for the Wii U on sale recently for 13.59. You usually have to look to retail for better prices on older games, such as Super Mario World 3D(which imo is the best 3D mario game as of now) is selling for $20 through the Nintendo selects program. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AC3ZD06/ref=crt_ewc_title_huc_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER)

Wind Waker HD is also cheaper than it was when it was first released, because it's now part of the Nintendo Selects program, so it goes for $20. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NJ0HTH0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER)

Just checked.

Current prices from Amazon US and ebay US in USD. Summer 2016.

[Y Version](https://amzn.com/B00KI2OZ9M) and Omega Ruby are roughly the same price as when they launched at $39.99. If anything they're a few dollars cheaper due to slight age and price fluctuation.

But a game like Black Version 2 is about $60 new and $45 used. It is a last gen game and no longer in production.

And finally the worst example, and the game that many people want to play, is the English version of HeartGold and SoulSilver. Price fluctuates around $100 for new and used English games.

Amazon /// ebay

Japanese imported versions are much cheaper, $30 on Amazon. Sadly, only the current gen of Pokemon Games has language options. For the other 5 generations you need to buy the game in your language; or learn Japanese.

I have a Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds 3DS XL with a bunch of games. Pokemon X, The legend of zelda game it came with and the Monster Hunter game, along with a bunch of DSI-ware games and I'm sure I have some more 3DS games, but I can't remember which ones to be honest, I'm not home right now.

The 3DS XL it's self is BRAND new. As in I've never played a game on it. I broke my first 3DS XL because I was trying to swap the shell and I'm dumb. I bought the LOZ one and just never touched it. Have original box, and this case. I'm selling it for $325, but I'm willing to negotiate.

u/doyouwantaballoon · 1 pointr/3DS

Ooooooh that one! I got it on Amazon also. It's actually a Dsi XL case but it fits the 3DS XL perfectly. Even with the clear Hori duraflex protector. Here you go.

u/FoxxyRin · 1 pointr/3DS

Personally, I use this case. It looks sophisticated and more for an adult gamer, without adding to the bullets that have been aiming right at my wallet lately. Fits into my purse and just looks like a planner/contact book that used to be popular back before everything went in phones. However, it has a magnetic closure and my old XL has a dead pixel. I doubt the magnets were strong enough to cause it, but just in case, I snagged this Pull&Go Folio on eBay. It's a case I've wanted for a long while, but they stopped making them by the time I bought my XL. (And yes, it's supposed to fit the XL just fine -- so it should hopefully fit the nXL just fine as well.)

u/Kenigs · 1 pointr/3DS

That case definitely seems rugged but a bit too bulky for the bags I use to travel when I'm out, but definitely looks like a good choice for a carrying case.

I used to use this DSi XL Leather Case and it worked really well and was compact, I only stopped using it because I just made backups of my games onto my 3DS so I didn't have a need to have a carrying case.

u/Zeretha · 1 pointr/3DS

Pretty much any starter kit is just cheap crap. I'd advise you to just spend a little extra and buy quality.

Styli. Basically the only spare bulk pack available at the moment, hence the long shipping wait.

Car charger I would instead buy either a portable power bank and 3DS USB cable or a USB car charger like this and a 3DS USB cable. A power bank would be a good bit more expensive but is really nice to have if you have a lot of electronics you bring with you. Here's a pretty good one.

Great card case holder.

Budget but good carrying cases: 1, 2, 3, 4.

Yes, its more expensive to go this route. But I promise you that you will be happy you did. I bought those crappy starter kits for my GBC, GBA, and DS. The stuff was low quality and generally just doesn't last. I bought stuff for my 3DS similar to what I've linked here and have been much happier with the quality and make

Love this game to bits but you have to like mystery/visual novel type games. There is a LOT of reading, it's literally dispersed into puzzle and novel portions, but if you want to experience a story that'll blow your goddamn mind I totally recommend it.

More games like this that are heavily story/puzzle based:

Ace Attorney series

Hotel Dusk

Ghost Trick

These are all pretty hard to find in stores but most of them are pretty cheap on amazon right now. ghost trick ,999, hotel dusk

Not sure what style of games you like, but if you're into Pokemon, you may like RPG-style games as well. I suggest you check out:

  • Dragon Quest IX - Man what a great game. I probably dropped 120 hours into this one (though it's possible to beat in far less time, there's just a TON of side quests)

  • Radient Historia - Another awesome game with old school appeal and new trick to keep you from getting bored. Considered by many DS RPG fans to be the spiritual successor to Chrono Trigger.

  • Retro Game Challenge - If you are a late 20's - early 30's gamer or you just like old school gaming style, this game will be amazing for you. I loved it!

  • Disgaea DS - I will forewarn you about this game. If you like the collection aspect of Pokemon, you will get LOST in this. I must have over 200 hours in it and I easily could have put another 800 (no joke) getting my characters to level 9999 (yup, it's possible)

Anyhow, those are my faves. There are so many others to list, but those four alone would keep you busy for years

I think you would enjoy this DS game. I've heard it's a good RPG.

Also, you can use them by making a US iTunes account. That's how I get English language applications. It can be hard to get iTunes codes though and they don't accept non-US cards.

For me, I like having both, digital for games I know I'm going to play for a long time, want to come back to later, or generally just expect to always want to be available (monster hunter, pokemon, probably disgaea) but then carts for everything else. I also never plan on carrying around my switch without a carrying case, and it looks like every case so far has room for several carts, or even a card case. With my 3ds, I have a case that holds 12 game carts and is pretty small, it fits right in the carrying case with my 3ds, so I don't ever have to worry about it. I expect cases like that to come around for the switch as well (the one I use is basically https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-Game-Card-Case-24/dp/B004K6LQAS except just 1 row, not 2 but I can't find it anymore) and those fit inside system carrying cases pretty easily

u/Krusiv · 1 pointr/MonsterHunter

I don't have a better recommendation than the other link for a collection that large. But I can say, don't buy those 8 or 16 game cases that are available at Best Buy or Target. They're a huge pain in the ass to get the cartridges in and out of. The elastic band type that you slide the cartridge into are much easier to manage. The only snap in type that seems to work well is the official HORI 24 game case. I have a couple of those for storing stuff long term. Games I actively play are in the elastic style holders.

Another advantage of the elastics- they also hold DS and Switch and Vita too.

u/mishugashu · 1 pointr/3DS

> You could also try just taking one game in the system around rather then all the cartridges.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing now, but it sucks when I whip it out and find I had the wrong game in there. I was thinking maybe a separate case that is also pocketable... or I usually have my messenger bag with me, as well, so it could be put in there with ease as well. Just shoving 4 or 5 different 3DS cases in there is not really an option.

I was thinking of getting this: https://club.nintendo.com/rewards-details/a/44002.do This way it'll take the place of 1 case, rather than 1 per game, and still be fairly portable.

edit: 10 coins short of the case. :\

double edit: woo, found a game I hadn't registered yet. I think this is definitely a good way to go, considering it's basically free.

triple edit: Orrrr, spend only $10 to get a bigger case and use the coins to buy games and whatnot.... ugh, this is why I posted here in the first place. I just don't know what's good.

u/warelecmon · 1 pointr/nintendo

I use the Hori case, which holds 24. Fits DS and 3DS and comes with one little piece of plastic that holds an SD card. That's removable though. They have a couple of colors and also make them for Switch games. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004K6LQAS/

u/KalN7 · 1 pointr/3DS

I believe it's this one - http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004K6LQAS?cache=198dcc535e585ce1babde1094dc2bf91&pi=SY200_QL40&qid=1406081290&sr=8-1#ref=mp_s_a_1_1

It's a great case and it does the job. Holds 3DS and DS games securely and they're not difficult to remove. But after seeing those cool club nintendo cases I want one.

And if you're asking about the console case, it's this one - http://mobile.walmart.com/ip/Mario-Universal-Travel-Case-Nintendo-DS-DSi-3DS-3DS-XL-Nintendo-3DS/30914324?type=search

My XL fits pretty snug in it and it holds up to 8 games. I like it, but I'll probably purchase a case that's more plain and less bulky down the road.

u/Khirsah01 · 1 pointr/3DS

I have that exact same style for my old NDS (before the 3DS) games. Oh the amount of times I've nearly cut myself on it since none of the sides give much... The old NDS style cases of the same design that I have have the opposite issue where it's hard as balls to get them in, and difficult to get them out without being afraid you're going to snap the gamecard!

If you can't afford to get a different case atm, the only tip I can give is to first slide in the side of the card to the outer side wall under the hook and then try to lever the middle side into the other clip. Hopefully the outer wall of plastic will give just enough to allow you to get the game card in. Just... Don't be a total dingus like me and draw blood on the hook when the card finally snaps in hard...

If you can afford to get a different game case, I heartily recommend the case that u/trippybrii linked: the HORI 24 game card case. That one has MUCH more flexible tabs in the middle so the best way to get the games in and out is to instead angle the game card into the MIDDLE of the page under the hook, then press sideways against the middle of the page into the hook and lever the game in under the outer hook and release. It's much easier to access the games!

u/earinth · 1 pointr/3DS

If you're planning on getting more games, [this] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004K6LQAS?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00) is my favorite way to store them! :) I've tried several, and this one doesn't seem to hold my cartridges tightly enough to damage them.

You're right in the initial period when Nintendo is still making the game. But what happens when the game goes out of print and the game becomes rarer as people buy up the remaining copies?

Pokemon Platinum, being sold by a seller that's not Nintendo.

Because of it rarity, the game is worth a lot more new than it did when it launched. Supply and demand.

Additionally, look at the used game prices for games at Gamestop. Nintendo doesn't set those prices but Gamestop does because they know how valuable Nintendo games are. They know they can sell you a copy of Pokemon Pearl for $30 or Xenoblade for $80. Sure, it might be unreasonable, but prices are set that way because people buy them for that price.

u/chazwhiz · 0 pointsr/gaming
