VIVO Triple LCD Monitor Desk Mount Stand Heavy Duty and Fully Adjustable | 3 Screens up to 30 inches (STAND-V003T) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B1D03GQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KlHHDb0TWV02A

I use this and it’s worked really well. The two bottom monitors are slightly resting on the desk as well. It was a pain to get set up perfectly but they haven’t moved since.

The real kicker is I have a monitor mount I picked up off of amazon for that exact reason....it has been sitting in my office for a few weeks unopened.

For things that are more significant than accessories: Get some active studio monitor speakers, a nice dac/pre-amp/mixer, a mechanical or electrostatic-capacitive keyboard, a REALLY nice office chair, and stuff like that. A good battlestation is about a lot more than a big monitor, cool case, and some good processing power.

So I went back two years on my purchase history to when I bought it on amazon.. the manufacturer replaced it with a similar item, so i have no guarantee that it will be the same. Mine has two clamps at the bottom where this one only has one, which I do not like.

Asus MX series user reporting in :D

Love my three MX279H monitors. They look even better when on Vesa arms using a custom bracket.

_____
EDIT: For anyone with an MX series monitor and would like to know how I VESA mounted them, here is what I used:

Adapter

Vesa Arm I used

u/Jhubbz86 · 15 pointsr/buildapcsales

I've posted this tutorial before, and I'm gonna do it again, for anyone wanting to know how to mount this bad boy. Other people have messaged me saying they've used different adapter mounts and a dremel instead of the JB Weld method. About two weeks now, and still doing great!

I used this guy's Amazon tutorial on how to put the adapter on, although I got the non-quick set version that comes in seperate tubes.

These are the items I purchased:

  • VESA adapter, almost twice as strong as the quick-set.

  • This exact JB Weld, although I got mine from the local Lowe's.

  • Monitor Mount, I went single mount over double, so I could have more freedom of placement.

Here are the pics of my setup. Please note, I waited a full 24 hours before mounting them. I know people get antsy, but just wait!!! Also, when adjusting the monitors for the first time, don't use too much torque, or you might detach the adapter from the monitor. The scratch marks you see on the back of the monitor, next to the adapter are where I sanded it down. I don't care about the way it looks, since my desk is against a wall. You can probably be a bit more careful if you actually care about the looks. I also sanded off the paint from the adapters so I can get good contact between the rough plastic surface and the bare steel plate. The screws that came with the adapters, as long as I washered them out a little, were perfectly fine to use.

There are still some small adjustments I need to make to the way they are lined up, but this is pretty much 99% done. I highly recommend anyone looking for more desk space to give this a shot.

Something I recently purchased which I really like is a portable book stand - it tends to be a pain to have to carefully turn each page, but it is much easier than having to hold a book open and write/constantly put weight on the book.

It has also helped immensely to have a good: roomy backpack with lots of compartments, wireless mouse for my laptop, and a detailed day planner.

Cable Management: involves the cable raceway attached below the desk using Command Strips from Wal-Mart. The cord management sleeves came in 4 pieces and I used that to organize all the wires. I have the speaker remote attached next to the lifting mechanism under the desk which is nice for quick volume control. The sub-woofer is placed on the desktop due my preference of having the fewest number of cables coming down from the desk. The one cord that hangs down is the power strip that runs to the outlet. The power strip is placed within the c-clamp of one of the monitor arms.

JOTO Cord Management System

J Channel Cable Raceway

Command Strips (Assorted)

Price: I was able to get a lower price in September 2018 at Office Depot using a 20% off coupon that was in general circulation. The final price with taxes and shipping to store was $149.90. But, I would gladly pay the $159.99 listed here.

Overall, I love the desk. In fact, I bought another one for my wife. The ability to switch between standing and sitting with the lifting mechanism is well worth the low price I paid. The setup requires minimal effort to lift - I personally use two hands for stability. I do think that an addition of a computer tower on the desktop will make it difficult, but not impossible, to lift. There is mention of wobbling in one of the review videos on YouTube, but it is barely noticeable on a day to day use. I will say that my only complaint is the desktop is not solid wood and I have experienced a bit of surface lift after a cup with condensation was left on the desktop overnight. I recommend using a coaster if you plan to having drinks on your desk.

u/Orval · 11 pointsr/battlestations

It appears to be either this one or this one

I THINK either one would work for achieving a similar effect.

u/KineticREBEL · 11 pointsr/battlestations

This is the stand I am currently using, It works great for me and the center mast is hollow with holes in it to run cables through so cable management is pretty easy.

u/tylenol1234 · 10 pointsr/LawSchool

Get a cheap book stand. I use this one with the plastic arms removed

u/Mysterious_X · 10 pointsr/buildapcsales

This is a much better deal, and offers a larger range of horizontal motion for the monitors, but does not have individual height adjustment.

Edit: Sorry to promote the competition, but the community should know about other options.

u/rauelius · 10 pointsr/buildapcsales

No VESA is an idiotic omission on Acer's behalf. That said, at least you can add VESA to it with this adapter.

u/timmah1991 · 9 pointsr/battlestations

For those interested, I bought two of these and borrowed one shelf from each box to make the middle section. For the actual 'desktop' I used a 1/8" fiber board cut to size. The monitors are held in place by this, which is actually mounted upside down from the top shelf. The desk idea originally came from /u/gconsier

u/alikeannoyance · 8 pointsr/buildapcsales

they are not, but you can get something like this to make it work. I haven't done it personally but I know some people who have and say it works great

u/Ickabodlame · 8 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Thanks, I didn't think I would like them so high at first either, but after about a month I don't think I would ever go back. I suffered from neck pain for years and decided to transition both my work desk and my home station to a standing desks about 6 months ago, at home though I wanted a dual purpose desk/workbench so that I could build out a proper solder station for Arduino tinkering. So I bought the cheapest workbench from home depot, threw some heavy castors on it and used this dual arm mount. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052AWGLE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00

was about $150 for the bench, a standing pad, castors, and monitor mount.

u/reversemermaid · 7 pointsr/GetStudying

This book stand has been quite a big help for me recently. It gives me more room to write and I'm not straining my neck like crazy. I can't believe I never thought of it earlier; I always hated holding heavy textbooks or bending over them and straining my neck, and that would make me put off studying.

Lots (most?) Dell monitors don't have VESA compatibility. You can buy adapters for $30-40 though. For example:

Get gas powered arms, make sure your monitors have vesa mounts on back and check weight requirements. I have 2x 32” and one 43” monitors and use 3 separate arms. This would work well for you at a good price:

u/Fornicatinzebra · 5 pointsr/CableManagement

Here's the link. Its super thick glass, works great for keeping the desktop away from the dusty carpet.

u/SigmaEpsilonChi · 5 pointsr/cableporn

It's actually a combination of this and this. I couldn't find one with this setup that had the requisite arm span, so I had to improvise.

u/HuhhDoe · 5 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

I use two 34” ultrawides sode by side using this arm:

Mount-It! MI-753 Triple Screen LCD Computer Monitor Desk Mount Stand Arm for 19, 20, 22, 23, 24 Inch Monitors VESA 75 and 100 Compatible Full Motion, Tilt, Swivel, Rotate, 66 lbs Capacity, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BDT072S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_rvs5AbSXV594K

It’s really sturdy - I bought the 3-monitor mount and removed the middle arm (I was scared the dual arm wouldn’t be wide enough for the two ultrawides). I’ve been thinking about stacking them which I think this arm can do easily - each arm can move around very freely

u/esatxE · 5 pointsr/battlestations

The vertical one is a fairly cheap one off of Amazon, which I can highly reccomend, especially at the price. As for the one on the left, I ordered it via a Dutch webshop so I doubt it will be of any use to you. This one was more of a bitch to put together, and the quality isn't all that great.

Here's how I have my racing and desk space setup.

Sim Racing
Entire desk

I have my Rift sensor and my second monitor attached to two of these monitor mounts (https://amzn.com/B01AI2YGK4). Works very well for being able to adjust it both the sensor and monitor to swing from desk to racing mode. Just have to reset the view when you launch a game. The Rift cable runs under the desk from my computer to just above the trash can - so in desktop mode I bring the cable between the pedal brackets and the legs of the desk, and racing mode it runs along side the rig. I actually have two Rift cables, one by itself and another that is in a braided nylon sleeve with a USB extension for my Leapmotion. Switching is a little bit of a pain, but the nylon sleeve is way cleaner than the "weaved" solution that Leapmotion suggests.

On the left upright for the steering mount I have a button box mounted that controls a bunch of automated scripts for switching between the two setups - change audio devices, display modes, as well as a few Teamspeak functions. When racing I disable my larger 144hz monitor so I can isolate what I'm doing to a single monitor and don't have to worry about losing a program on the other monitor that I can't see from the 80/20 rig.

I just got the aluminum extrusion rig (Bosch Rexroth), which I got locally for about $100 less than what I would have paid for an equivalent 80/20 setup through ebay. I haven't really cleaned up the wiring of the extrusion rig yet as I am in the process of adding SimVibe to the mix, which the first round of hardware should be here today!

/u/ZeosPantera, any suggestions on a 'cheap-ish' amp setup to power 2 to 4 AuraSound Transducers, ideally all separate channels?

u/generaluser27 · 5 pointsr/buildapcsales

Yes there are some that are monitor specific or universal ones that are pretty much just a giant clamp that will hold your monitor from the top and bottom bezel.

I believe this would fit but I am not 100% sure.

I bought an adapter on Amazon. It was ~$30. It works pretty well. There's a bit of wobble if I bang the desk, but I'm not worried about it falling out. I don't trust it enough to put the monitor in portrait mode though.

Edit: the Amazon description doesn't list this monitor, but the vendor's website lists the D2717H/X for this mount.

u/thewaywardsaint · 5 pointsr/battlestations

Here's a pic.

I've got this mount holding the ACER XB270HU on top and this mount holding the Asus VG248QE on the bottom. I used only one of the posts and bolted it through the top wood part instead of using the clamp. Barely fits both!

Get a book stand!! It’ll save your life when you’re trying to read and take notes (or write an essay) at the same time. This: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005IV6U0U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_WL3hDbH6HSED4 is the one I use. I take it to class and people are legitimately jealous — I’ve had other people end up bringing them, too. It’s so useful, esp if you’re in a book-heavy class.

u/s_lerner · 5 pointsr/techtheatre

We tend to use an Ergotron mount with a notebook tray. Sometimes there have been issues with getting a binder to stay on the stand, in which case a sheet of luan is added to give further support. The Ergotron should come with mounts that can either be screwed into a desk or a clamp that can be attached to something.

This is a solution that can be made to work with a variety of consoles. In the photos linked below (featuring a very handsome former intern and current redditor) you will see the stand used with a Studer Vista console. The other monitor on that mount is the console overview screen.

Some of the rental shops have also custom fabricated script trays for consoles that have slightly more space on their surface, but I don't think that there's a practical use on a Vi series.

One last thing... light. At times we have attached a LittleLite (the older model, where the light was removable from the round base) to the script tray. We'd then cable tie the power to the arm so that it didn't dangle or get caught as the script was moved. You can kind of make out the light in the pictures, but it's a little hard to see.

u/zeroskillz · 4 pointsr/battlestations

You're going to call me dumb when I tell you this but, I don't run in surround. I think the idea is cool, but the interface is shotty at best. I'll explain. So normally I game on the middle monitor with a stream up on my right monitor and something to read on the left. The surround doesn't have "true" maximize so the windows are basically maximized but still show the border, that annoys me.

As far as the monitors, I love them, albeit I'd like to replace them for the BenQ 24" 120hz.

For me, the case is a sign of power. When I was much younger, my first job was at a computer shop and one of the guys there had a really big case with all kinds of badassery inside and ever since I started making money and building awesome gaming rigs, I've always got a big case.

  • Screens:
Your laptop appears to have a M5970 /w VGA, HDMI and DisplayPort and Eyefinity support.
I'd recommend x2 of these IPS screens: Dell u2410. These screens have very good picture quality and their connections fits your laptop prefectly. They are pricy, but IPS provides the best picture quality.

You may also check 2412 and the 2312, however they do not have HDMI.

    ----

  • Keyboard:
Mechanical /w Cherry MX blue, or MX Brown if you prefer more silent keys (video comparing sound levels).

Check out brands like DAS, Filco, Leopold, Ducky, wasdkeyboards.com

    ----

  • To connect your PS3 to a monitor you have two options: use connect laptop to monitor using DisplayPort cable and PS3 to monitor with HDMI OR purchase a HDMI switch. Then, connect HDMI cable from your laptop plus the HDMI from your PS3 into the switch and connect the switch to the screen. You want a active switchr /w it's own power supply. You can also get HDMI switches with remote control. With the switch I linked, adding a TV above your station would not be an issue at all.

    ----

  • For monitor mounts you got two basic options: wall mount or a desk mount/arm. I can't speak for the wall mount, but I have three of those desk mounts and very happy with the purchase. You have to decide which mount fit you best. They both have their advantages.

    ----

For your laptop you got countless options. Here's my suggestions:

  • Although this does not hide the laptop in any way, I think a laptop stand like this one looks pretty awesome. An advantage with this setup is that you can tie the cables to the mount's arm and thus always be available. You will always know where the cables are, that they are long enough and you can plug them in to your PC even when sitting.

  • If you have a keyboard tray but don't use it, the tray would be an ideal place to hide the laptop. It'd be completely hidden and have almost the same cable management benefits of the mount.

  • Laptop stand. Just to mention it. Cables everywhere, possibly limited moveability due to cable length, terrible cable management.

    ----

Unfortunately I can't help you with iPad or chair, but I would advice against a glass desk. You will have a harder time with cable management and you will always be able to see your cables. If you get a desk such as the Galant series from Ikea, you get more options for cable management (such as trays and cable holes).

Use a book stand on the desk or table. I have several kinds for different types of book, like this and this.

Not 100% sure this is a great deal, since you can buy it from Amazon for only $14 more after S&H, and the comments make it sound like Ergotech is sending out faulty units for this deal.

Aside from that, has anyone used this stand before? I'm looking for a triple monitor stand and Ergotech seems like a promising company for those. Is it worth the cost?

You can get a monitor stand to lift your PC off the floor/carpet. I have wood floors but I still wish I got one a lot sooner. Got mine off of Amazon

u/Yorugata · 4 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

Looks like one of the flavors of this stand: https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-STAND-V003T/dp/B00B1D03GQ/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1539739704&sr=8-19&keywords=2%2B1+monitor+clamp+stand

Just has the single monitor mount on bottom with the dual arm up top.

Boom arm for the mic is mounted is either mounted to the wall, a hole is drilled out of the top plastic cap on the mount's pole and sits in there, or the clamp can mount to the pole with the plastic cap removed or to the pole itself. My money is more on a drilled hole in the plastic or one of those boom arm mounts that require drilling into a desk that perfectly fits in the tube.

I'm looking for a triple monitor stand on amazon. I found one for about $55 does anybody else have recommendations? I have 2 24" monitors and a 22". I might even just get a dual stand and just leave the 22" off to the side.

u/Veighnerg · 4 pointsr/Monitors

Attach one monitor to another? Not a great idea. What you should use is a VESA mount that allows it to be positioned where you need it. Here is just one example https://www.amazon.com/North-Bayou-Monitor-Computer-14-3lbs/dp/B01AI2YGK4/

u/bgunn925 · 4 pointsr/buildapcsales

I have two of these and they're great. Looks overall very similar to the Rosewill model, except this one supports up to 14.3lbs, whereas the Rosewill only supports up to 13.2lbs. This one has gone on sale for $20 pretty regularly -- I bought both of mine at this price on separate occasions.

u/Aldarrisrium · 4 pointsr/buildapcsales

There is an adapter plate on Amazon

u/RisenLazarus · 4 pointsr/buildapcsales

Got the Dell SE2717HR for 120 to use as a second monitor and have a VESA adapter coming in that added 30 more bucks. Tempted to return both and get this. Thoughts? I read reviews that the VESA adapter isn't the sturdiest thing ever and that the screw sticking out the back makes the monitor lean forward. A cheap 4k as a second monitor sounds really enticing.

u/wraithtek · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Ventilation on the bottom side of the case - where the PSU intake normally is on modern cases. And potentially bottom intake case fans.

Depending on your case's feet and the height of the carpet, you might be restricting how much air the PSU can pull in.

The other concern is pulling up dust & stray carpet fibers into the PSU/case, which is less of an issue on a hard surface.

My thought is if it's a pretty low-pile or berber-style carpet, it's not a big deal. If it's a medium-high or shag carpet, at least put something under the case so it's not sitting right on the carpet.

Doesn't have to be fancy. A piece of spare particle board is what I'm using at the moment. A hefty monitor stand also works.

EDIT - Also if you have pets that shed, better to keep it up off the carpet. And make sure you have decent filters on your intake fans.

Monoprice sells a nice, simple glass and metal stand that is good for this. Used it on a previous build of mine. Here’s the link for anyone looking.

Looking good, but I have two inexpensive suggestions: get this for a PC stand and get this for your headphones

I just received the glass stand and I like it a lot, used it to raise up my monitor and free up space for my keyboard and my backup HDD. It'd fit/look a whole lot better than that silly AC retail box ;)

Razer Blade: I give a thumbs up. Have seen people saying some pretty good things about it. The screen thing though... To my knowledge that isn't really a thing... that I know of at least. Maybe the people over at r/SuggestALaptop might be able to help you out with that. My suggestion to you would be to use like a docking station that is one cable to your laptop (USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type C w/ Thunderbolt) and have that run three monitors on a monitor arm like this (remember the monitors would need to have vesa mounting capabilities to do this) and roll with a setup like that for home use and just use one screen while you are on the go. Hope that helps a little and feel free to ask questions.

u/GrammarFailure · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

u/sportsziggy · 3 pointsr/battlestations

I have three of these for eyefinity. This monitor is a solid choice for the price.

The stands are awful, but I picked up a triple mount (http://amzn.com/B00BDT072S) for $70 and now they're perfect.

The buttons on the back haven't been an issue for me; the only button I really use is the power button. Also, access to the buttons isn't really an issue since I mounted them.

u/nrhinkle · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Do you have monitor stands? If not, do your monitors have VESA mounts? Get monitor arms! I got this one when they were $30 each, but they have another (newer looking) model for $40 which is still really good for a gas-spring monitor arm. I've had them since July and they're still working great, I have 3 with 2x 21" and 1x27" monitors. Leaves way more room on my desk and makes it really easy to reconfigure my screens to put one in portrait or whatever. Best random accessory upgrade I've done yet!

Yea, 30-40 is not that expensive for a stand. If 30-40 is out of your budget, then I’d understand. You get what you pay for in my opinion. If you have the stock stand, i’d just stick with that. If it is too expensive to buy a new one, i’d just stick it out, wait, and save until it is within your means. Better safe than sorry!

This one is $25. If your monitor is VESA compatible, this one isn’t too shabby. It has good reviews on amazon for the price. You can drill it on the top of your desk or clamp it to the side. And if you don’t have amazon prime for the free 2 day shipping, maybe you could ask someone who does to order it for you and just pay them in cash?!

Obviously doesn't compete with high end mounts. Maxes out at 9" over my desk with a 24" monitor, which I wish was a little higher, but it seems like most issues people have with these are with obtuse instructions. They do. I actually have had this mount with my XG270HU for the last few months and it does its job well. It's kind of pricey at $32, but it beats gluing a mounting plate/drilling holes into the back of the monitor.

CPU: This was probably the one part I had a bit of trouble deciding what to go with. Since I'm not familiar with what your workloads entail, I just went for the Ryzen 5 2600. It's the most powerful processor that fits the budget, and I doubt anything you do would require more that a 6 core 12 thread processor. Overkill, maybe, but it will last you a good long while

Motherboard: The B450 Tomahawk is one of the best B450 boards, not a ton to explain here.

RAM: Just a 16 GB kit of DDR4 3000 MHz RAM, nothing special

SSD: The cheapest 1 TB SSD, somehow, even though it is a very good drive. It's on sale on newegg for 10% off, make sure to grab it now.
GPU: It didn't sound like you were going to play any games that needed a ton of GPU power. Heck, even an RX 580 is probably overkill for you. Still, nearly any game can run at 1080p 60 FPS on it, so if you get a new game, you should be fine.

Case: I know you didn't want anything too flashy, and while this case does have a side window and LED fans, it shouldn't pop out too much. Besides, having 2 fans preinstalled takes care of airflow for the components.

PSU: Good, high-wattage PSU from a trusted brand with a 5 year warranty. Enough said.

WiFi/BT card: This is the cheapest ac WiFi card that also has bluetooth, and it has good reviews. Should do fine

Monitor: The cheapest 1080p 60FPS monitor with a VA or IPS panel and VESA mounting. (Also, here's a relatively cheap compatible VESA mount)

[This] would very likely function as a stand for the monitor. It might not be pretty, but it'll do the job of holding the monitor.
Just verify that there are mounting holes on the back of the monitor (spaced either 75mm or 100mm apart) and it'll work.

It's made by Ergotech

Amazon

Not sure if Amazon has the best price or not, but that is the stand.

u/SirVanderhoot · 3 pointsr/hardware

Ergotech has adjustable size and can support 25 lbs per mount, costs $230.

Look into building one yourself. Black steel piping at home depot isn't terribly expensive, and assuming that you don't care to move it while it's mounted a bit of planning will let you mount VESA monitors pretty much anywhere.

u/jamesgideon · 3 pointsr/battlestations

The stand is an Ergotech (Model 100-D16-B03) and I bought it on Amazon

Does not allow you to rotate displays into portrait but I have no need for that and also it's a very heavy stand (25 pounds) which personally I like for stability without the need to screw it to a desk.

u/Berzerker7 · 3 pointsr/buildapc
u/Optimus_Banana · 3 pointsr/Battletops

I actually just got it from an old job, and it dosent have any branding but from a quick search it looks like it could be this one on amazon. It's OK but its hard to get the monitor as close to the wall as I'd like it.

u/hugsfordummies · 3 pointsr/InteriorDesign

Yep, I share it with my boyfriend. We both spend a lot of time on the computer at home (working, playing games, redditing), so it was really important to us to have a proper workspace.

We wound up buying two matching monitors (because I'm pedantic like that) and mounting them on one of these. The mount is clamped to the desk itself, which was important, because I didn't want to mount them to the wall, nor drill holes into my table. And the articulating arms allow us to push the screens back against the wall whenever we have friends over so that we can use the whole table top.

Our laptops, miscellany papers and other things that are plugged into the monitors are all underneath the table on two wire IKEA rolling cabinets.

I absolutely love, love, love our setup. We don't distract each other while we're working because our line of vision is blocked by our screens, but we're close enough to play footsies. We have the whole length of the dining table to work, but everything tucks away whenever we have people over for dinner.

My only complaint, is that our monitors have to stay at the same height because of the monitor mount, so sometimes we bicker about the screens being too high (him) or too low (me), based on the way we sit. Not a deal breaker though, for all the other benefits the set up provides. I'm sure that if I weren't lazy I would also be able to find a setup that has independent height setups.

Sorry, that might have been a bit unclear, i meant that you could make a gaming build for 3840 x 2160 (4k / 4 times the resolution of 1080p) that would cost about $2500.

Here's something i put together that comes in a bit under budget. You’re going to ‘want’ to get an unlocked chip (can be overclocked) for a high end build. You don’t need to overclock, but you at least have the option to do so in the future. That’s what’s going to give the build some extra longevity vs a build that doesn’t have the option to overclock.

This is a m-itx (small form factor) build that won’t have a problem playing any game on Ultra at 60+fps for a long time with a GTX 1080. The monitors are 25” 1440p IPS panels that have very small bezels so they’ll look good once they’re mounted on a stand. They’ll fit on most desk / wall vesa mounts (100x100mm). I also added a 480gb ssd and a 4tb hdd as requested. The case has a bit of a “gaming” look, but it shouldn’t be too out there for you imo.

Edit: Added a rear exhaust fan (forgot the case doesn't come with one :/).

I think what you want is an Ergotron LX Mount but they're pretty pricey. HOWEVER, there are unbranded ones (branded by HP, but totally 100% ergotron) for almost half the price here. I have 3 of them and they support my giant Crossover 27Q. I can go from portrait to landscape just by grabbing the monitor and spinning it. I highly recommend them.

You also may want to check out some of the Monoprice offerings here for even less money. I had the dual one for around 60$, but it only moved side to side- not up and down.

u/shadyinternets · 3 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

i went with 2 of these guys http://www.amazon.com/Desk-Mount-LCD-Tall-Pole/dp/B00689HXI4/ref=pd_sim_sbs_147_25?

with the 2 separate tall poles i can stack my monitors on top of each other if needed and in general have a lot more variety of where the screens go. and one easily holds my 34" 21:9 LG so they are strong enough for probably any newer monitor.

im sure there are cheaper versions that work as well too as the linked ones are a bit pricey.

u/machtap · 3 pointsr/AskBattlestations

http://www.amazon.com/Ergotron-Desk-Mount-Tall-45-295-026/dp/B00689HXI4/ref=pd_sim_sbs_op_1

There are these, which have a 12" post. For me personally none of those options were tall enough so I ended up getting two of the standard ergotron arms with 6" posts and simply replaced them with ~$20 in plumbing piping from home depot. Overall it ended up being cheaper and taller than anything else out there.

The ergotron short and tall post versions are rated for 24" monitors according the the tech specs, but on a weight basis with the max being 20lbs. I have a 27" IPS monitor which only weighs 14LBS and it works great on one of these arms. Although I'm told that some older and thicker ( > 2 inches ) LCD monitors have a different center of gravity and that can sometimes be too much for the spring. Most newer monitors seem to be closer to half an inch and getting lighter all the time.

So... I would recommend a laptop that you can dock and can do some virtualization.

http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Dell-Latitude-E6420-Intel-Core-i7-2.7GHz-256GB-SSD-14-inch-HDMI-Laptop/9444363/product.html?refccid=47LBAHF2LWNL7K2O36TPNSKXOY&searchidx=6

You can upgrade the memory to 16Gb and then get a port relicator for multimonitor setup.

http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Dell-IMSourcing-NEW-F-S-430-3114-Port-Replicator/9048000/product.html?refccid=5XI2HQKY4AW3H2KC6MHEQQND6I&searchidx=0
I recommend this one because it has 2 DVI ports, vga, hdmi, dsub, 5 usb (2 back, 3 side), and basically everything you need in a port replicator.

Those particular laptops come with a 256GB SSD (Samsung, Seagate, or some other vendor, just depends but I've found most use Samsung and Seagate).

You can get 16GB kit would should be plenty for most virtualization and the 2.7GHz has hyper threading as well.

Wireless is I think the Intel 7620-AC Dual band but there is an additonal slot for a secondary card. (I think there is actually 3 slots total but only enough wires for 2 cards).

Network is 10/100/1000

You're going to be hard to find a better laptop with all that for cheaper. Brand new these things run around 1200 - 1500 depending.

Now the only thing that really bugs me when buying those is it's going to be a grab bag on whether you get a 9w (extended battery) or not.

If you don't get a 9w battery then I'd recommend picking one up.

The monitors and everything else is up to you but that would be my recommendation for what you're looking for.

Edit: Forgot these are also super easy to take apart. 7 screws on the back and the panel comes off super easy.

Edit 2: Also, because those sell out, make sure if you go on overstock that the processor is the 2.7ghz i7 if you want to do virtualization.

Also here is the specs on the processor that come with it.

Edit 3: Sorry keep forgetting things. Those laptops come with some shitty chinese replacement chargers. They can cause issues with the touch pad while charging. However the port replicator (docking station) should come with a legit Dell charger that will work for the laptop as well since it's universal.

Edit 4: Decided to add my personal recommendations for monitors, monitor stand, mouse, and keyboard. You do your own research though.

Monitor x3: Dell E2414H - 1980, Vesa mount, DVI and VGA
http://www.amazon.com/Dell-E2414Hr-24-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00FE8MKTM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1450473050&sr=8-2&keywords=dell+24+e2414h+monitor

Monitor Stand: 3 Arms I'd go with http://www.amazon.com/Ergotech-Triple-Horizontal-Monitor-100-D16-B03/dp/B001NPEC5A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450473096&sr=8-1&keywords=ergotech+3+monitor

There are a lot of options with monitor stands but I like Ergotech so YMMV

Mouse: Tons of options but for I really enjoy my G602 http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Gaming-Mouse-Battery/dp/B00E4MQODC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450473201&sr=8-1&keywords=logitech+g602

Keyboard: I love blue switches and having a numpad on a TKL is amazing. CoolerMaster has some pretty amazing mechanical keyboards. I recommend this one. http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-TK-Mechanical/dp/B00A378L4C/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1450473227&sr=8-3&keywords=cm+rapid+fire+tk

Otherwise I currently use a the Quick Fire Rapid with blue http://www.amazon.com/Coolermaster-SGK-4000-GKCL1-US-Storm-QuickFire-Rapid/dp/B0068INSUM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450473343&sr=8-1&keywords=cm+quick+fire+rapid+blue

I recommend browsing on https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/ or /r/mechanicalkeyboards

u/3lfk1ng · 2 pointsr/Guildwars2

Go for it, you will love it!

They are both IPS displays and coincidentally they both use the same 23" LG IPS panel. So... beyond a few case differences (The Eizo lacks tilt, swivel and height adjustment) and some calibration they will both wind up looking exactly the same. Whatever monitor you prefer and who offers the better price will be the ultimate factor. You should be able to score the 23"" Dells for around $230/ea

I debezeled my panels (http://www.wsgf.org/forum/forums/hardware-software-support/hardware-discussions/18530/bezel-less-diy-also-valuable-users) so that they would look a lot nicer than stock. I even recently put them on a Triple monitor stand from Ergotech (http://www.amazon.com/Ergotech-Triple-Horizontal-Monitor-100-D16-B03/dp/B001NPEC5A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341967480&sr=8-1&keywords=ergotech+triple+monitor+stand) and it looks a lot more clean now.

Feel free to check out my videos too. I even have some Guild Wars 2 footage (http://www.youtube.com/my_videos?feature=nanahara72)

Once you have Eyefinity, you will never go back. Some of the older games require 5-20minutes worth of work but the experience is worth it.

u/thehybridfrog · 2 pointsr/hardware

I use this: Ergotech stand with 3xx U2412m's and it works awesome.

u/HB1233 · 2 pointsr/battlestations

I do..a lot. I like doing a lot of editing so having three screens is very much helpful. Sometimes I start thinking that 3 monitors (for me personally) isn't enough lol.

The stand I'm using is the Ergotech Triple Monitor Stand w/ Telescoping Wings

Theres also one with non-telescoping arms

u/Jespy · 2 pointsr/battlestations

I got THIS I saw the $87 tag on it and thought it was too good to be true. If it's holding three $200+monitors I want something sturdy and reliable. How do you like the stand you got? :) Just curious. I might recommend the one you got to save my friends some money.

u/BatSphincter · 2 pointsr/battlestations

This one. It's pretty easy to work with. If you want to get it exact you'd need a level and a ruler and take some time. I didn't have the time nor did i care enough to get it absolutly perfect

u/midnightblade · 2 pointsr/gaming

You must get this. You really can't appreciate a 3 monitor setup until they're all mounted together on one stand. Having them lifted up instead of hugging the table makes a huge difference. Idk why, it just does.

u/kurozer0 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Feel free to bug. It's tough finding arms that can reach over other monitors. The three middle ones are held up with single monitor mounts. I'm able to get them over the bottom monitors because I have a desk with a second level that they are connected to similar to this.
The TV on top is on a vertical mount which is sitting on a box and held down with weights. Kind of ghetto but I never look behind there anyway.

u/kpop_fapper · 2 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

Hello! I did some research on VESA mounts for ultrawides and I've seen recommendations for the Ergotron MX, but it's rather out of my price range.

I was wondering if there are lesser expensive options? I will be using a DELL U3415W.

Would this be good enough? http://www.amazon.com/Mount-MI-751-Adjustable-Articulating-Insignia/dp/B0052ATODM/ref=pd_sim_147_8?ie=UTF8&dpID=31aj4wqPIdL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR127%2C160_&refRID=1R7165JG9F63RWSJ8946

I have the same monitor but 29 inch. It is so much better with a mount, the stock stand is way too short.

this is what I got

u/bsgraves32 · 2 pointsr/Battletops

Hi! I'd definitely recommend a mount, as it clears up a great deal of desk space. I'll post a link to the one I got off Amazon below. As far as mounting it, if you have the exact same desk then the mount/clampdown screws should line up perfectly with the metal frame under the desk on any of the corners. If you have any other questions or want more detailed pics just PM me.

if you can find studs, or cheap monitor arms work pretty well.

u/ottosunday · 2 pointsr/AskBattlestations

This will probably get the job done for you without breaking the bank

u/dasamps · 2 pointsr/macsetups

Yeah, the mount supports 75x75 and 100x100. Right, so what I was trying to say (I'm terrible at explaining things) is that I have two separate arms on one post that are at different heights. I took the dual-arms from another mount-it, removed an arm from the hub they connect to, and put it on the same post at the laptop stand. So I bought two mount kits and combined them. Maybe I'll take a picture when I get home. With the mounts, the arm(s) are literally whatever position vertically that you want. You have to tighten a bolt to keep it/them from sliding down. I have two of these on one post, but I had to buy another mount and take the arm from it and add it to the first kit's post.

It's like if you bought two of these and threw one of the posts away. You would take the second arm and put it on the first post.

u/sddhrthrt · 2 pointsr/battlestations

You can get 1 - 6 arms, they are given as different colors of the product, follow the link here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052ATODM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I absolutely love the mount, it works great for me because I don't need to drill any holes into my wall because I can just attach to my desk. The mount I have is a Mount-It! Articulating Single Arm.

u/makerecon · 2 pointsr/AskBattlestations

I recommended these Mount it! brand monitor arms in another thread here the other day. I found them from seeing it in someones battlestation pictures and with his recommendation to someone I purchased a double and single arm for my triple 27" setup.

Pros:
Fantastic value,
very solid construction,
no sagging,
light padding on the part that gets clamped to the desk(so no desk scratches),
All that sweet sweet desk space freed up

Cons:
It takes some time and an allen key to get each individual joint to move in fluid manner with respect to your preference in being able to pull/push and rearrange them at will.

As for the TV I don't know what the mounting pattern is on your TV nor the weight. Those are two things you should check out before you order the mounts

u/konzer · 2 pointsr/battlestations

Oops, read it to fast! This one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052ATODM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00

It barely fit on my desk and I ended up removing a section of the upper arm. It's good but for my needs, I wish I got something else.

u/Zarknox · 2 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

I got this one Amazon Warehouse for ~$37: http://www.amazon.com/Mount--Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-MI-752/dp/B0052AWGLE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464017127&sr=8-1&keywords=mount+it+dual+mount

It holds my 34" (~22 pounds) and my 27" (not sure). They both FIT in landscape too, but just BARELY and with about a 15 degree angle. 29 would defintiely fit. Its very sturdy, I have to really tigthen up the screws that allow for adjusting the monitor tilt but your 29" will probably weigh less than the max 22 pound

consider something like that or two singles.. I still haven't decided which would be better but I'm happy with mine

u/1905ChelseaBlues · 2 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

I have this arm with a 34" and 27" and it has been great.

u/x_XBombaX_x · 2 pointsr/buildapcforme
u/KARMAgetsYA · 2 pointsr/battlestations

Sure thing!

I had to make a custom wood piece to get around a metal bar under the table, and disperse the clamping force from the 2 screws. Since this is a glass table i did not want to clamp directly to the glass. Just some particle board and screws. For the cabling, i utilized the built in wire supports on the mount arms, and black zip ties. Kind of a rats nest underneath the table, but i tried to clean it up as best i could compared to how it was before.

My monitor mount is something like the - supplied by my work so not sure the exact product.

2 questions for this monday morning:

  1. Dual monitor stand recommendations? Seems like both Mount It! and VIVO are good - i want something where each arm is individually adjustable. Clamp style is preferred but the option to have a stand would be nice too. I have two u2414h's to mount. Is one clearly better than another? Looking at this VIVO and this mount it! - is one better than another or do any of you have recommendations?

  2. RAM timings - i've got 2x8gb G.SKILL TridentX 1866 DDR3 sticks, and a 4790k. According to PCPartPicker, these exceed the Haswell recommendation of 1.5v, and will be downclocked. Should i return and get something like the 1866 snipers, which are cheaper, or will i be fine?

    TIA!
u/xQcKx · 2 pointsr/battlestations

This

I had to cut 3 x 3 x 3 inches into the middle of the upper shelf in order to fit the mount.

u/danesnick · 2 pointsr/battlestations

Dual monitor arm! Here's the one I have:
http://www.amazon.com/Mount--MI-752-Adjustable-Desktop-Monitors/dp/B0052AWGLE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453602291&sr=8-1&keywords=Mount+it+dual+monitor+arm

This is one of the more cheaper options. You have pretty good options on how you can mount it, and they're fairly solid in terms of build quality.

Just make sure your monitors are VESA compatible.

If you're starved on desk space with your multiple-monitor setup, it's definitely worth it.

u/skilzpwn · 2 pointsr/battlestations

The tower is facing out mostly due to the fact that I sit more man-spread than straight legged. As far as mounting the monitors goes, I've been look at getting a cheap one off amazon:

I'd put my bet on this one : http://www.amazon.ca/Mount--Articulating-Computer-Monitors-MI-752/dp/B0052AWGLE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1377761730&sr=8-3&keywords=Mount+It+dual . Maybe /u/Krylosac can confirm?

u/Mayal0 · 2 pointsr/battlestations

It's a dual monitor stand. Specifically this one.

And then I got the same stand in the single monitor version for the right side.

u/aliensbrah · 2 pointsr/watercooling

I bought this MountIt! monitor stand off Amazon. It's not the greatest in the world, but it gets the job done decently imo. There's a few other similar ones on Amazon if you look at related products.

u/tehshortbus · 2 pointsr/DIY

We actually purchased these stands for these desks: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052AWGLE/

They are shown in the picture. I also thought that I would like they loud keys on mechanical keyboard but I would rather a quieter keyboard at this point.

u/Xane48 · 2 pointsr/EliteDangerous

If the table is sturdy you can get one of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052AWGLE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 and some of this velcro http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006IC2U?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01

I have it hanging down from the front of my desk and it's very sturdy. The velcro is also extremely secure, I can rotate the sticks so they're hanging upside down and they can stay like that for days without losing grip. Only downside is that the pole sticks out 18 inches from what it's secured to, and the fasteners stick up 5-6 inches from the surface.

Looks like this http://imgur.com/a/QLoXe

u/StyloV2 · 2 pointsr/AskBattlestations

Throwing [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052AWGLE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) in the mix to consider. I would imagine they are very similar, but I use the one here with two of this monitor and it is fantastic. I'm not sure if the one you linked has the cable management through the post, with an exit hole right above desk level. If so, they are basically the same. If not, I suggest the Mount-It one as it is fantastic. If you have any questions or want some pics, just let me know.

It should be fine. The company actually sells this http://www.amazon.com/Desk-Mount-LCD-Tall-Pole/dp/B00689HXI4 and http://www.amazon.com/Ergotron-45-248-026-Stacking/dp/B0036RDOT8

They don't let you just buy the base or replacement pole.

u/Dizman7 · 2 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

DP cables are mostly the same, can't go wrong with monoprice though, they sell some on Amazon too. I think mine is an Amazon Basics though. Yes the stock one is super short that comes with it. I have an odd setup but I originally got a 6ft DP then sent it back as it was to short and ended up with a 10ft.

I got this beauty of an arm mount for my X34. I went with the taller pole one as I like more height than most people. I love it, it's great! Anything Ergotron will be great though, the Amazon Basics arms are just relabeled Ergotron but come in black instead of chrome.

u/sjmorrow · 2 pointsr/battlestations

Exactly what I needed to know. Thank you sir. So just to be clear, this is the one, right? http://www.amazon.com/Desk-Mount-LCD-Tall-Pole/dp/B00689HXI4/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1409767597&sr=1-2&keywords=lx+arm

The one with the tall pole?

u/Rager5 · 2 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

I have been using this one for the last 2-3 years no issues what so ever to hold my LG 34um95. I have a block of wood between the under anchor and desk for extra weight displacement to the desk. Ergotron is expensive but nothing but the best to hold up my baby.

u/baddox · 2 pointsr/compsci

Can't beat the Ergotron LX with tall pole. I use it work with a Thunderbolt display; it holds up fine even though the weight limit specification it dangerously close.

For dual monitors, I use the LX side-by-side with two extension arms for extra height.

I've heard good things about the Ergotech Triple Stand.

u/Cynical_Lamp · 2 pointsr/Monitors

My bad, I linked the incorrect one. Here is the correct one.

u/ThePoundDollar · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I think I came across that one but the height adjustment put me off. With that said, it didn't even cross my mind to check the dimensions of the monitors.

My only concern is that it doesn't have arms that can be moved forwards or backwards such as this one for example, although this is a little more expensive. I also can't find the product for sale in the UK.

I currently have two monitors, one 24" one and another small square one. I can definitely see myself using three though. I'm always having to have multiple windows open on both monitors.

How would you compare the Duronic DM653 to the Ergotech?

u/KARMA_P0LICE · 2 pointsr/computers

I have the Ergotech and I love it.

Very stable, easy to adjust, and the quick release clips for the two side monitors is very handy for when I need to pack the stand up and transport it.

u/Emerald_Flame · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Ergotech makes pretty much the best monitor stands around: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007BD0MPM/

work paid for it, like the monitors.

u/dngrCharlie · 2 pointsr/TripleScreenPlus

So I just did this and got this:

Ergotech Triple Desk Stand with Telescopic Wings (100-D16-B03-TW)

I'm reasonably happy with it but be aware that the base is very big so you kind of need a deep desk to make it work well (IMO!). I'm not sure if it will work well on your desk.

However, I did want to say that you should get the next size up stand for whatever your monitor size is. For example, if it says "support up to three 21" displays" consider it too small for you and get the stand that support three 24" monitors (unless you just want all three monitors in a straight line). If you want to be able to angle the outside monitors, you will need the ability to extend them just a bit further.

This is what mine looks like with three 24" monitors.

u/trippleguy · 2 pointsr/battlestations

I'm using one with a similar design to this one, and I'm very much satisfied. It says it supports up to 24", but if I'm not wrong, those are some dell 25" with tiny bezels to fit well below the 24" max size.

Another one, which looks even more promising

u/Todesfaelle · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

Follow up from this post.

The monitor came in and it's damn near in pristine condition save for very, very, very minimal scuff marks on the bottom front bezel which you can't even see even in a lit room.

No dead or stuck pixels, excessive bleeding, banding or surprises. Still has the AOC sticker on the bezel too! Saved me a cool $250.

Bought a VIVO triple monitor vesa setup but one arm seems to be lower than the other even with max adjusting so I don't know. Maybe I put a bracket on upside down.

I also bought this Jeyi Knight (Lol) M.2 adapter from the land of China for $26 about a month ago and it has lowered my MX500 1TB drive by 5c and my ADATA SX6000 256GB by about 20c while under synthetic stress.

Looks pretty nice too. Not sure how much air it's sucking up in the bottom slow though since it's pretty close to the PSU shroud.

Though it has alot of issues, it barely fit just the 3 24 inchs, the 2 side monitors didn't have an angle due to the arms being to short. The ultrawide in the center is a bit heavy for the mount which i need to add a shim to. To get the 2 side verticals to fit on the side I had to add some custom made steel brackets that extended the vesa mounts out another 5cm.

u/Djvacto · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I've loved this Vivo triple monitor mount. Iirc it supports up to 27" monitors, and once you adjust & tighten the arms it's fantastic.

u/Cartman372 · 2 pointsr/simracing

Thanks! Yeah the different size monitors are far from ideal for multi monitor gaming, but it's not so bad. What I do is set the game to windowed mode, then stretch the window to the dimensions of my screen. Due to my center screen being taller in resolution than my outer monitors, some stuff gets cut off the top and bottom on the side monitors. It's not really an issue, but some games do have their huds on the top and bottom corners. So you have to watch out for that. Running a setup like this though you can not setup EyeFinity or nVidia Surround as the differing resolutions mess it up. But Live for Speed and all Codemasters racing games support the windowed method I've listed. Any other game I just run single screen.

My stand is a VIVO Triple Monitor Stand (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009S7ALH8). If you're looking into doing a triple monitor setup, I would not suggest this stand. I've had my share of problems with it and I can not get my side monitors to sit height centered with my main (so alignments are a bit off in games). Good triple stands are expensive. Once the summer rolls around I'm going to build my own mount to solve my problems.

u/TheCasualJedi · 2 pointsr/PS4

If you have to do this I say use a monitor stand to separate the two. Put the PS4 on the bottom since it has fans on the side.

I got this clear glass monitor stand from Monoprice: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AJHCQD8/

It's got plenty of weight rating for a tower and the 22"x9.5" is perfect for my S340. But you can see they have plenty of bigger sizes.

And trust me, I've looked. There really isn't a whole lot else for this purpose unfortunately.

u/reaverdude · 2 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

I bought one of these off of Amazon to keep my tower off the carpet. It looks nice and fits my case just right. It's made of glass so it will match your case even better. I recommend picking one up.

u/DaRealHankHill · 2 pointsr/iRacing

Right now I have a rig that has a wheel stand, pedals platform, and seat, but no monitor mount. I have my rig on wheels that I can slide right up to my desk(I play non racing games and work so I don’t use my racing seat for that). My desk is rectangle but I made the front edge curved so I can slide my rig closer to the middle monitor, as they use the attached stand that sits on a desk.

Once I get a better desk, I’m going to get a triple monitor mount though, like this one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BDT072S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_

If you get a rig with mounts just make sure the monitor stand part has adjustability to come closer/farther from you without moving your distance to your wheel. A lot are locked to a fixed distance from the wheel, and all you can do is keep moving your seat closer to the wheel(and screens) but you can only get so close to the wheel before that doesn’t work anymore.

u/TheEpicCanadian · 2 pointsr/battlestations

The monitors are all ASUS VS238H-P's. The monitor stand is a Mount It Triple Monitor Stand It isn't very good for landscape because the side monitors droop about an inch with a heavy monitor but it works great for portrait. The desk is a Ikea Desk, the Linnmon. It's can be really sturdy or fairly flimsy depending on how you put it together.

u/sk9592 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Would a triple monitor mount help your space issues at all? If would work if the issue is that your desk is not wide enough:

Looks great! May I recommend a monitor mount for your desk, it should get you some prime real estate back.

They have versions for larger monitors as well if that's the case.

u/The_Roptor · 2 pointsr/halo

I recommend looking on Amazon.com at brands like Vivo, Mount-It, and AmazonBasics for good mounts for reasonable prices.

If a single triple monitor mount is not enough to properly fit all of the monitors you could get 3 singles. Make sure all of your screens have VESA mounting holes. If they have different VESA mount sizes you can get size adaptors.

Triple monitor mount 1: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BDT072S/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_VD5OCbJX1ZC75

Triple monitor mount 2 (more flexible): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X9D7JWP/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_uD5OCbF76S6YM

Single monitor mount (X3): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B21TLQU/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_xE5OCbW8QX4H4

Once you go VESA mounted you never go back, so worth it man. I have my TV mounted on a VESA arm for playing Halo/Xbox, and my work desk has double monitor setup is VESA mounted too and it's worth the cleaness and space saving.

u/joeythehamster · 2 pointsr/Monitors

For your price range i would go with this one

u/AR-47 · 2 pointsr/simracing

I used to have a setup like that and honestly the only thing I can recommend is buying a triple monitor stand like this and having the monitors hang off the end of the desk, over your wheel. Then when you're done, unbolt the thing and move it to the other end of your desk. Getting it set up and taken down is a pain in the ass, but worth it if you race a lot.

u/Matthew91188 · 2 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

I actually just bought this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BDT072S/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1474254241&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=monitor+triple+arm+desk+mount&dpPl=1&dpID=41i6t%2BGOV3L&ref=plSrch

It's a triple monitor mount but you don't have to use the middle one (removable) this allows the outside arms to be long enough to hold both. I currently have a 27" and 34" on it just fine. I can snap a pic tomorrow if you'd like.

u/dubstepping · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I have (2) 27” dell 1440p 144hz monitors mounted on this desk with no issues, c clamp on the back. I have tons of space. I would go that route, but even with them on their stands, you would have enough space. The table is exactly those dimensions.

Here is what I use:

VIVO Dual LCD Monitor Height Adjustable Desk Mount Stand Black Deluxe Gas Spring Arms hold 2 Screens up to 27" (STAND-V002D) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M4D395O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yDR.Bb26M8XN7

Edit: I do keep my UPS and PC on the floor on their own small stands, as I don’t like the extra weight on the desk or risking them falling. I keep my monitors, Xbox and switch on my desk. So I have a ton of free room for work and gaming.

u/mcpasty666 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Not as cheap, but:

I can't seem to find any in-depth, professional reviews about this monitor. PC Part Picker's list of monitors that are at least 1440p tells me the G257HU is the cheapest one it knows, and it's been like that for months.

u/harr1847 · 2 pointsr/battlestations

FYI, you can get a VESA adaptor for that monitor since the stand sucks so bad. I had that monitor myself for about a year and a half. I ended up selling it and buying a refurbished dell u2515h instead (same panel, better stand and I/O and comes with VESA mounts). Then I bought a second one on a really good /r/buildapcsales deal and then mounted them both.

The reason I have not considered doing the plate myself is because I'm almost certain I won't get them in the same exact spot on multiple monitors. On a triple arm it would be a big deal but I suppose I could get single arms and line them up individually.

I have the same mount as you. Someone else in the thread mentioned that this one will also work: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01771Q6U2

Hmm alright!

Maybe the 31" monitors won't be ideal then. They're likely a little bit too big!
Any (IPS) 1080p monitor will be doing the job fine, almost all PS4 games don't care a lot about super fast reaction / twitch like maneuvers. Which is why an IPS monitor will work very well.

Lots of streamers use BenQ monitors because they either get sponsored or buy those monitors because the "pro gamers" buy them.
They're very good for games like CS:GO or Dota2 where you need super fast reactions. Those monitors are very fast which means that it's a slight advantage to have that extra few milliseconds of reaction time.

For pretty much anyone else that isn't extremely competitive, those monitors are really not that special. I also don't like the fat bezels! ;)

I personally really like the AOC 23" i2367Fh or the AOC 27" i2757Fh. Sadly both of them don't have height adjust or vesa mounts.
However, you can buy the fairly expensive adapters for them to get a vesa mount, which allows you to buy a monitor stand to be able to lift them up or down. This mount in particular only allows all 3 monitors to go up or down, not separately.
It is expensive though. So I guess as a start, just deal with them standing on the desk.

---

No problem! I am very much aware of the little miniature drunks that run around in homes. Personally don't know if I'll ever feel like getting children, but I am sure they bring you a lot of joy as well.

---

Ahh, now it makes more sense. I thought that you would just record and not stream.
I have to check, but I am pretty certain that it is possible to swap monitors with just OBS streaming software. You create the 'scenes' for both monitors and then you create hotkeys to swap to the other monitor with the touch of a button!

Showing both screens at the same time, again likely possible with the creation of a scene, but yes.. probably not very common that you want to do that. May get pretty busy with the webcam as well in there.

---

I also just noticed, I completely forgot to give my rationale for all the parts. I don't know if I feel like typing it out to be very honest.
So please, just ask if you have any question about any part and I can provide a detailed reply why I suggest it.

I also forgot to post my list of videos, guides and software that should help you a lot to understand more about PC hardware. I also believe that the guides should be great at helping you build the system and the stress tests are important to just run a bit after you've build the system.
You don't have to overclock, but you could consider to bump the CPU up a bit. It does improve performance (editing mostly) by a fair amount.

    Guides

    ---

Now before you have a look at all these guides. The best guide in most cases will always be your MANUAL. Some manuals are garbage, but most of them are more than good enough to be able to help figure out most problems.

  • How to build an AMD Ryzen PC?
You can ignore the part selection, builds constantly change and while this is fairly recent, it will be outdated "tomorrow". It also isn't specific for your requirements.
However, almost everything is very similar to your system, so you should be able to follow the guide and get the system together and up and running no problem.

  • How to install thermal compound?
The temperature difference between the best and the "worst" thermal compound is a couple degrees Celsius. The temperature difference between applying thermal compound one way or another.. is 0 degrees.
Be careful though! The only way that the temperature will rise is when you don't put enough. So it needs to have enough, but too much can cause problems as well. So don't go overkill either!
Thermal compound helps with the contact of the cooler + the CPU. They both have microscopically small gaps, which the thermal compound fills up to let the heat get too the heatsink.
  • How to install Windows 8(.1) or 10 from an USB drive?
You have to download "media creation tool" which is located at the bottom of the page (blue button). Run that program with a 4GB+ USB flash drive plugged into a PC. Then follow the simple steps and the program will make the USB drive bootable. After that all you have to do is build the PC and boot from that USB drive to install Windows.
  • How to set up your SSD & HDD?
This video is another older video, but it works pretty much the same in Win 8/10.
  • How to use Ninite?
This video explains it very well, as well as their recommendations. For security I advise to only get Avira & Malwarebytes. If you want to pay for an anti-virus; Webroot! Light weight; very high detection rate.

u/elwunderwalrus · 2 pointsr/battlestations

Hi, if you don't mind me asking, where did you find that desk? I've been looking for one like it for some time.

a.) I'd suggest a quality headset stand. Massdrop has them on sale fairly regularly, although if you have Prime you can probably pick one up relatively cheaply (less than $40 US, I believe). I'm actually using my Blue Yeti as a headset stand and it works famously.

b. I'd suggest a taupe/light beige, since it would fit with the table, and leave your possibilities open if you end up getting another desk or if you want to change the room into something else. Saves you from having to re-paint at least.

c. I personally have a monitor arm that mounts to the desk. It's an Ergotron Neo-Flex, but I wouldn't really recommend it. Not a lot of articulation since it's a mechanical hinge instead of a gas hinge like this one I was looking at before I found mine in my dad's office. Almost all of them will require a Vesa mount, but those are pretty common on Asus monitors. Even my low end 22" has one. Plus it'll free up a little real-estate on your desk for a headset stand/microphone if you want one.

Those are just the ones that I got. They make them for larger monitors as well. My largest monitor is a 27".

I have a triple monitor setup and use one of these mounts for each monitor. I can adjust all three monitors independently. I was also able to independently adjust the mounting location of each arm because they're each separate units. I, like you, have three non-matching monitors. Using three of these should accommodate the issue you've described. IMO, having three mounts is better than a single, triple monitor mount because of the versatility in placement and adjustment for each monitor. They're only $20, too. Another thing I really like about them is that the desk mounting hardware comes with two options: clamp (for edge clamping) and bolt on (for more secure and permanent desk mounting). They also have a very small footprint and so they take up very little desktop real estate. I'm very happy with these mounts and I highly recommend them.

They came in basically brand new. No dead pixel, no scratches. 144hz, 1440p and freesync works as advertise. You can get the VESA adapter for about $30 on Amazon and fix that adjustable stand issue.

https://www.amazon.com/VESA-Mount-Adapter-Monitor-XG270HU/dp/B01DAYRXRK/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1485213963&sr=1-1&keywords=XG270HU+vesa

u/Leov2 · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

I've purchased two scratch and dent XG270HU's and one of them was pretty much flawless, there was no sign it had ever been used. Another one had a scratch on the glossy part of the base, that's about it.

Excellent monitors that you can't go wrong with in any way, shape or form EXCEPT no vesa and a very short stand. At this price point saying "Oh it's TN," as a con is like saying a Nissan Versa doesn't handle like a Porsche. Stating it as a spec though is important and still important. This does have a quality TN panel as far as TN goes, the colors are nice and weren't washed out on either one I purchased.

As for the orange, eh, I don't see it as a big deal. I'll upload a small album of my set up changing throughout a year so you can see it just blend in with everything or be apart of the mess. Some of the pictures are from timestamp albums for things I was selling hence the multiple keyboards/mess. Album

There is an adapter to vesa mount it for sale on Amazon, it's $31.99 which is a pretty penny but if you must mount it at least you can. A monitor stand would also get you some more height if you need it.

Wow. Assuming you bought those, you're budget is pretty flexible?

Also assuming you want a stand that can have them side-by-side because I've never seen curveds on top of eachother.

Seems pretty hard to find a mount/stand for 3x 31.5" or higher in a side-by-side atleast. You could also get 3x 1 arm stand or 1x 2 arm and 1x 1arm, but that gets messy.

I’ve toyed with the idea of going for an S4. Currently got an A4 at the moment.
I had hopes for the new Asus monitors or virtual link being able to power an older usb-c like the AOC 16ifux(?) an APU build might work these days, I think I saw someone saying they got decent frames out of one recently. That and TB3 on an X570 board.

My bad, I totally thought I linked it. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236051 The only thing I can see are two..... holy shit they have VESA screw holes. Couldn't see them because they were filled with a rubber stopper. Oh man -.-

So they are 13' tall. Looks like around 11' tilted maybe 25-30 degrees. I'm kind of worried about the main monitor being too high ( I adjusted it up to about 9' off the table and my eyeline is right below the center of the monitor with my chair raised up.)

I been fooling around with different orientations and I think I'll just do two vertical monitors on each side instead. At about 8' up and the two monitors to the side it makes a flush, door-frame shaped п orientation. Which mount would you recommend for that? I have the same monitor and use a Vivo mount. The one I use isn't a spring-mounted one (height adjustment doesn't matter as much for my setup), but their parts are generally mix-and-match so the actual VESA bracket should be the same. I would expect this to work for you.

u/cphcider · 1 pointr/battlestations

Those monitors don't look identical, but you MAY be able to flip all 3 vertical and create a DIY ultrawide situation. That would give you more horizontal desk space so the TV isn't so crowded.

This one has arms you can adjust, but only horizontally (and tilt), you couldn't change any heights.

Same story with this one, but arguably easier to ensure things are more aligned. (This is what I use for 2 monitors that aren't identical and it works well enough.)

This one would let you play with heights, but is 2x the price of the others for that reason.

This was me playing with the idea of 2 horizontal and 1 vertical.

Reviews of it have been great and it looks like it suits be pretty well. However, wondering if there's anything just as good, but cheaper. I'm new to mounts, so I'm not sure if $200 is steep or not. There seem to be a lot more expensive ones, but also some cheaper ones.

u/terrorbyte311 · 1 pointr/sysadmin

I wanted to go with one of those, but I currently have a glass desk and didn't think those would mix well. If you ever look for a tri stand, there are basically two that can handle 3 24"s: a reasonably priced one, and a really expensive one. I got the former and have been very happy with it.

VESA mounts are just referring to the type of standardized mount on the back of monitors. How a manufacturer decides to use that mount leads to products like clamping monitor arms or multiple monitor stands or simply just stand replacements.

I can't seem to find any mounts with a weighted stand to use for a monitor arm.

Here's an example of how a clamp might work on a desk. There shouldn't be any damage to the desk.

You could also mount multiple monitors on a single stand, like this, or get a mount that uses a clamp, like this. Those are just the first examples I found, there's a ton of other options on amazon, or newegg, or wherever.

u/Rancorip · 1 pointr/battlestations

So this thing is pretty freaking good. It does have important drawbacks tho. 1) it is VERY stable (they offer it for a 24in monitor and 27 in monitor version) 2) THe base is quite large, so if you dont have the desk realestate, consider other options. 3) I have 3 24in monitors that hang off to the very edge so one way or another, I reccomend getting the 27 in version (if you have the space). Here it is: https://www.amazon.com/Ergotech-Triple-Horizontal-Monitor-100-D16-B03/dp/B001NPEC5A

u/Andy411 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I really appreciate it, I'm going to go with something close to your build. So I talked with him today, and he said "Can we find a thinner monitor? I’d be willing to sacrifice some size for that, or increase price.?" I'm going to set him up with a three monitor stand like this one, (have to do some research on it first.)

I don't think he appreciates the IPS, although I know he'd prefer it. The one he uses now is 1600x900 Acer 20-Inch LCD,, which I probably wouldn't use in the new build. (Others in the office would love another monitor.)

u/runsongas · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Not sure you'll get that, but good luck.

That stand is way overpriced, the ergotron is only 200 on amazon. Or just get 3 seperate stands from monoprice.

http://www.amazon.com/-Triple-Horizontal-Monitor-100-D16-B03/dp/B001NPEC5A

I figure 500 is more realistic.

u/NewAgePhantom · 1 pointr/gamingpc

You'll get another 40-50% from the third card. The 2Gb will be a minor setback, but as I can see you aren't too fond of the idea of moving up to 7970s. $500 isn't enough to move up in monitor quality (Three catleaps would set you back $990) and two 670s wouldn't handle 7680x1440 anyway so sticking with the 5760x1080 setup you have is all you can do at the moment. You could alternatively spend that $360 on a nice monitor mount instead of a third card. Something like this would do the trick.

u/HotshotGT · 1 pointr/Monitors

All monitors have to run at the same resolution, so you would have to run the center monitor at 1080p when playing in surround. If it's a different size than the other two, it will be difficult to arrange them so the edges line up smoothly. You'd have to have the side monitors significantly closer/further away than the center to make things transition smoothly from the center to the sides. It may not bother you, but even having my side monitors slightly off broke the whole "window" effect for me. I bought this stand, and it's been decent enough. The base is a bit cheap, you have to get a bit rough with the arms to get them perfectly symmetrical, but it works great once it's set up. If I had it to do over again, I might have gone with something like this, then used a separate arm for the top monitor.

Desk: IKEA Linnmon/Oddvald. Pretty solid desk for the price, although leg room is a bit lacking, probably upgrading soon.

Chair: DXRacer Formula Series, really helped my posture and got rid of my back pain. Plus I'm a huge gear-head so it's very much my style.

Keyboard: Das Keyboard Professional w/ Brown Switches. This keyboard is fantastic, it's a treat to use every day, feels buttery smooth to type on and build quality is superb. I also have a CM Quickfire Ultimate that I use at work, also browns.

Mouse: Zowie EC2-A. Replaced my old Logitech G400 when it started intermittently cutting out, I think I like this mouse even more.

Mousepad: SteelSeries QcK+ for all that low DPI goodness.

Headset: Kingston HyperX Cloud II. I love this headset, it's super comfortable and has good directional sound.

Speakers: Cyber Acoustics CA-3602 FFP. I use my headset mainly but these are good enough for when I need them.

Monitors: BenQ XL2411Z flanked by two ASUS VS247H-P mounted on an Ergotech Triple Monitor Stand. Finally got the monitor stand this year after using two boxes to hold up my side monitors for far too long. However, the BenQ is probably my favorite purchase out of all of these, would've bought three if it served any real benefit to me.

Random Peripherals: uxcell extended power switch. I keep my computer under my desk so this is handy so I don't have to crouch under my desk to turn on my computer.

Inateck PCI-E to USB 3.0 5-Port PCI Express Card. My motherboard came with a fairly low number of USB ports so this allows me to plug in my printer and external hard drive, etc.

I have one of these and would recommend it, if there is a way to remove the monitor mounting from the desk. Obviously there is a massive footprint on the desk, however there are other options available as I am sure you are aware. But that would be my two cents, again best of luck. :)

I have these. They are excellent quality, and incredibly sturdy. The pictures don't do it justice. When you see it in person you'll understand how heavy-duty they are. I used these to hold two 27" monitors up and it was excellent. Great value for money.

I ran a triple set up for quite a while with three Asus pb278q, unless times have changed finding stands for 27" monitors is difficult as most seem to hold up to a max of ~24". I ended up using two articulating arms, one which held two monitors and another which held one. It worked extremely well actually, anytime I wanted to move a monitor it could be easily moved into place. They were similar to this http://www.amazon.ca/Mount-It-Articulating-Computer-Monitors-MI-751/dp/B0052ATODM

Oh and make sure to not use hdmi to one monitor, I ended up with constant brown outs and the only reason I could figure out why is because the audio signal going to one monitor caused it to crash.

http://www.wsgf.org will soon become your favourite place, they have a program which makes many games work well with tri screen setups. Fixes UI etc

Not really. I do love my challenge though, it's comfortable and space saving. I've rigged up a pair of monitor stands attached to a board with my hotas mounted on (excuse the mess of wire): http://imgur.com/a/ybFOP

The steering wheel mount is detachable, and I'm going to eventually rig something to mount my keyboard and maybe a drink holder when it's in 'hotas mode'. The monitor stands were ~$25 when I picked them up, these specifically: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052ATODM

This is a really comfortable and adjustable setup, and lets me use the pedals for rudders or driving around on planets.

u/OMGitsDSypl · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I'm gonna triple mount 3 Asus VG248QE monitors (24" screen, each 22.5"wide), and I'm unsure about what mounts I should use. I was eyeing this triple monitor mount, but I don't know if it will perfectly fit my monitors or allow me to curve them inward enough. This is a big deal for me since I want to have three monitors and my tower (9" wide) on my desk (72"), and curving the outer two monitors will make everything fit with ease. That being said, I was also thinking about getting 3 of these single monitor mounts which seem to be cheaper. The only cons I can think of with this is that initial set up will be a drag and the cable management will be less appealing. I assume this method would allow for more freedom with a single monitor, so I'll be able to save more space on my desk and rotate monitors with ease. I'm sorta leaning towards the latter option, but I could really use a second opinion- Should I get the 3x mount or 3 1x mounts? Is there a recommended alternative anyone can vouch for that won't kill my wallet?

u/TaylorHammond9 · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

So is this one a bad idea? says it holds up to 21lbs monitors, but I feel like it's really up to experience not just what it says.

u/ElectricWizerd · 1 pointr/battlestations

I didn't want to spend a lot of money in it so I got this one at 47$ from Amazon.

u/Rolldawgz · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I bought this last year and I absolutely love it.

Using it with a 21.5" 16:10 and a 27" 16:9.

One of the main features I love is the ability to easily feed cables through the center pole for a cleaner look (might have to get longer cables though depending). Has plastic covers for all the joints. Only thing I wish it had was easier vertical movement but it's not even close to a deal breaker. It's my first and only multi-monitor mount so I don't really have anything else to compare to, unfortunately.

u/Nabrolean_Bronaparte · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Y'all need vesa mounts. They free up a ton of space on your desk, provide the best view adjustments, and really aren't that much money or work.

u/Ayatakaneiro · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I'm using a really old, shitty desk purchased from Walmart like ~10 years ago and have 0 problems with stability. I was worried for a little while that it was going to just tip one day or even just break the desk but it's been going strong for about ~1.5 years now.

Here's the mount I'm using...

I have a 27" QNIX and a 22" Asus mounted to it and it's been nothing short of perfect. The arms can be titled and move horizontally but the height isn't very adjustable, at least not easily. You basically set it to the height based on pre-drilled holes on the vertical standing arm (the part that mounts to the desk) and just stick a screw in to hold it there. If you want to adjust height you'll have to remove the screw and likely take the monitors off before sliding it up/down. If you want something that's easily adjustable in height, you'll be spending more in the ~75-100$ range as opposed to ~40$ for a less-dynamic model.

It sounds like you may just have a single monitor though... If you have no plans to add another then I'd just get something like the Amazon Basics for 99$ or the Mount-It! for 39$.

The Amazon model gives you pretty much the maximum adjust-ability but it's a bit pricey (not really, other mounts are just cheap). The single arm Mount-It! I linked is a little more adjustable on-the-fly than my personal mount I posted earlier but costs about the same as the dual-mount.

Also, I use a sit-to-stand desk at work and love it. I get pain in my lower back from my terrible posture and generally can't sit still too long without getting up to walk around a bit. Being able to stand and work whenever really helped limit my back pain and I love being able to move about. The downside is that they're pretty damn expensive... For a reference, we have Ergotrons where I work.

If I had to guess I'd say it was this model specifically. That whole 'desk' mounts on your actual computer desk and can be raised/lowered and adjusted in all sorts of positions.

edit and now that you've got me looking into all of this again, I'm thinking of upgrading to something more adjustable like the Amazon Basics mount but a dual-monitor version. IMO just skip the cheaper model and get something more dynamic like the Amazon mount.

u/ctrlaltd1337 · 1 pointr/battlestations

It's a discontinued model from Ikea called the Effektiv, but it's very similar to the Galant series (which was recently renamed to Bekant apparently).

There is also an extension, so it comes out pretty far: http://i.imgur.com/oBCWfKx.jpg

Also, both the middle and right monitors are mounted with this mount.

u/ReppTie · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

Here's my input along with links to products.

  1. Put the bed on risers to add storage space.
  2. Make a headboard for your bed. If you're handy, this can be done cheaply. If you're not handy, you can buy one for a reasonable price.
  3. Can the dresser and the desk be swapped? If so, put the desk next to the bed so that you don't wake up to a wall to your right and so you can look out the window while working at your desk. The desk can also serve as a bedside table.
  4. Mount the monitors on the wall to free up desk space. Here are a couple options - two singles and a double.
  5. Re-do the shelves. They have a very garage feel. Some cheap board from the hardware store to even out the sides would make a real difference.
  6. Put at least a picture above the bed on the side that's to your left while sleeping. It should be longer than it is tall. Scenery is good. I have this in my bedroom and I like the effect.
  7. Mount the guitar on the wall.

Ikea sells poles that can be friction fit to the ceiling. Find a monitor mount you can MacGyver to it and you're all set. The older poles (Stolmen) they used to sell were cylindrical and a basic monitor mount from Amazon fit it nearly perfectly. All that was required was to insert the plastic inserts that came with the anchors that were used to attach shelving and such.. I think the new ikea poles ones are square shaped... You could always buy a stripper pole to make it work or find an old Ikea Stolman pole on craigslist.

You can also use two poles for much larger screens. Even the new system would work with this method.

Try an Ergotron Arm

I have two of these to hold my monitors and they are pretty great. You can run the wires through the arm so they are "hidden" and its pretty damn adjustable. There are other arm-things out there but they are pricier than the Ergotron brand i think.

https://www.amazon.com/Desk-Mount-LCD-Tall-Pole/dp/B00689HXI4

would this be compatible? I think so because it is VESA?

u/construktz · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

The ASUS uses a fully copper cooling system I believe, that is really unmatched. You can pay extra to get it in the [Sager NP8651](http://www.xoticpc.com/product_info.php?ref=154&products_id=7690&affiliate_banner_id=1" target="_blank) but even that doesn't compare to it.

As for the case being a heatsink of sorts, no, not really. Even if they say the machine is aluminum, that's just a veneer, and under it is all plastic. If they did make it out of metal, it'd either face the risk of conduction or it'd get too hot to touch (like some of the older Macbooks that tried that design).

So, I use my laptop for exactly what you do. I do masonry restoration and am sent out of town a lot. I use my laptop almost exclusively for travel, and otherwise live on my desktop. I don't blame you for your standards. I just bought 2 Ergotron LX tall pole mounts for my 24" and 27" monitors and built a riser so they can sit above the LG 34UC97 I just ordered.

Funny thing about specs, though. I'm waiting for Skylake processors, so I only just upgraded my GTX 480 to a GTX 980, and am still running my i7-950. I run Far Cry 4 on max settings with absolutely no problems and high frames. It's amazing how little your CPU is needed.

u/joncalhoun · 1 pointr/hackintosh

I personally wouldn't recommend a Hackintosh unless you are willing to learn a little bit on your own, or have a friend who can help out. The problems with a prebuilt machine from a random entity are:

  • Returns may be a pain, unless he provides you with receipts and everything required for all manufacturer warranties. Even in these cases, you need to take out parts and handle the process yourself.

  • Updates can sometimes cause issues (not often, but they can) and if you don't have a rough understanding of things you could end up with a computer that isn't working and no idea how to fix it.

  • Applecare - with an iMac you have the option of a solid warranty, and you can basically just bring the computer to an apple store to get it fixed with very little frustration or questions. I'm not saying you need the applecare, but it is a nice option for many.

  • The resale value of an iMac will decrease over time, but it is still relatively easy to sell an iMac. Custom computers are much harder to sell, and often lose value much faster.

  • This build doesn't have thunderbolt, which is very handy over time.

This is obviously your decision, I just know from experience that I have had to extract data from my hackintosh, and reinstall everything because I managed to screw something up with an update. If I had purchased the computer it would have been frustrating to still end up doing al the work despite spending $300-400 extra to avoid it.

If you do go this route and want a monitor suggestion, I really love LG's 34UM95. It is a 34" 3440x1440 res monitor with great picture quality. You need to hook it up via display port or thunderbolt (this build has display port) to get the full res at 60hz, but it is definitely worth the money. I use mine with an ergotron LX monitor arm with the tall arm (see http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00689HXI4)

u/shelms488 · 1 pointr/techsupport

Well, if that's the case, and this may interest you as well, why not use a triple monitor arm? Like this one from Ergotech as long as your monitors have a vesa mount (most modern monitors do.)

I use the Ergotech Freedom Arm for my 34" Ultrawide and it's very solidly built so the company makes quality products. However, if price is a big factor there are other companies out there that make similar items for cheaper with varying quality.

EDIT1: Ah, i did fine this from the suggested search results which i think should be fine. Thanks again :)

u/cnliberal · 1 pointr/battlestations

You don't have to use DisplayPort. These monitors have 2 DP (one mini, one regular), a DP out (for daisy chaining) and 2 HDMI (with MHL). I've not had issues with the HDMI ports. They wake the monitors up successfully. Its just when I turn on DP1.2 in the menu that I have issues with the DP waking the monitors up.

I have these monitors on an Ergotech triple monitor stand with telescopic wings. There's a version without the telescoping arms but that will not fit these monitors.

I love the slim bezels. I dislike the fact that the power light is on the bottom of the lower bezel. I dislike the touch buttons on the bezel as opposed to real buttons. I've had to get used to turning the monitors off a certain way (when they're asleep). Who knows, maybe Dell will release a FW update to the monitors to fix the sleep issues.

It's great, will hold up to 27" screens and the outside arms tilt in as well as the mounts the actual monitors are on so there is plenty of angle. You can also turn them to portrait view if you would like.

Also the little knobs on top of the outside monitor mounts will move the outside screens up or down independently of the other screen so you can adjust as needed.

It claims it supports 3 x 27" monitors. I have 3 x 24" on it and I could believe it - there's still a lot of room to move them out despite me having them mounted in a line without too much inward tilt on the monitors.

It's not cheap and it weighs a shitton when fully loaded. I can't remember whether it comes with a wall mount in the box, so you'd need to verify that. It'd need to be a sturdy wall too.

I think you're pretty much out of luck trying to find one bracket that'll do 3 x 30", they're not only ridiculously heavy but also huge width-wise.

If you put a monitor on the cubby and angle them in, you can fit three 24" monitors. I ran two Dell E2414HM's on the sides and an S2415H in the center, all on their regular stands (though I eventually cut a whole in the back to fit a triple monitor stand).

2- https://www.amazon.ca/Triple-Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-VIVO/dp/B009S7ALH8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1462299102&sr=8-3&keywords=triple+monitor+mount

The SIIG mount would definitely fit my setup, but it ends up being $70 more, so im wondering if the VIVO one would be able to manage with my setup.

The monitors im using are a Dell S2740L and two HP vs17's.

Thanks guys!

This is the mount I bought - I used to have a triple monitor setup but when I moved to a 34'' UltraWide I ripped the left and right arms off and now am using them for the Hotas.

I've had good luck with VIVO brand - I currently use the following:

Easy to assemble, sturdy design, maximum adjustability in all directions. However, I don't know if they have a three-wide one that supports 27 inch displays - their three-wide seems to only support 24's:

Yes there is, here's the links to the triple monitor one (canadian price, idk where you're from)

the stand version

the clip-on version

u/rcioffe · 1 pointr/Monitors

You can get a stationery monitor mount, which allows you to pull the screen closer, tilt, and rotate, but doesn't allow individual height adjustment for each monitor such as this.

Or you can get three individual mounts, which allow full mobility (up, down, closer, farther, & rotate) such as this.

There's double/triple versions of these as well. Double. Or Triple.

Good brands include: Ergotron, Ergrotech, VIVO, & Amazon's version. Mount-It and Cable Matters both make some as well, but I haven't used these ever.

u/britPaul · 1 pointr/simracing

$35 on massdrop is actually a decent deal, currently $58 on Prime

u/LVNeptune · 1 pointr/hotas

Ordered the mounts you suggested here: https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-STAND-V003/dp/B009S7ALH8

How did you build the bracket exactly? I have the DXRacer King Series chair. Would be nice to play away from my desk with the controls at proper height finally.

EDIT: Just saw you had a local welder do it. Would you be able to get it duplicated and send to me? Will pay for shipping and cost of welding of course.

I got this two weeks ago: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B009S7ALH8/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I spent part of this afternoon re-routing my DVI and power cables so they're fairly neat and tidy.

u/tspek · 1 pointr/iRacing

I was suspect that they would be sturdy for this price but they really are. My screens measure about 24" across including the bezel. I think they are 22" screens??

The top screen is adjustable vertically (only a small amount) but it's still just a little bit off. Not horrible, but it's there.

Good luck duuuude!

If you have 3 monitors and a tough desk, look at getting a monitor mount for them. The one I've got is built like a tank, and I just mounted my scissor arm on that. If you do not have a shock mount, that motherf***er will pick up every mouseclick and keystroke like you were hitting the mic with a hammer.
These are the parts I'm using:
Monitor mount: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009S7ALH8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Scissor arm mic mount: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OCH4JAE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You'll need a 3/8 inch female to 5/8 inch male screw adapter because the arm has a 3/8 inch screw and the Yeti needs a 5/8 inch.

Hi all I am hoping someone could help me.

I have my computer currently sitting underneath my desk and as my floor is carpeted I have my PC sitting on a piece of cardboard until I find something better to sit my PC on.

I'm thinking of buying a Melamine particle/MDF board from my local hardware store - as anything I find on eBay or Amazon is either not the right dimensions or too expensive. I have seen something like this but I don't know if it's suitable or could possibly break.

Would the particle/MDF board be okay? Or if you have any other suggestions that are easy on the bank and safe for the PC I would greatly appreciate it.

ps. I cannot place my PC on top of my desk as I have limited space and my cat likes to be in high places, and I don't want her sitting on top of it if I can help it.

I've never had a setup like this but I'd imagine you could combine or buy a dual monitor arm with a single monitor mount also attached to it and tilt as needed then retighten the bracket.

Something like this might work. Make sure it will support the measurements and weight of your monitors though.

if you talking about for my legs under the desk, then yes i would agree, i usually end up resting my feet on my subwoofer, i may just get rid of the PC that's under there since i only use it maybe once or twice every 3 months.

For the mounts i use a VIVO Triple monitor mount they works pretty well for my 2x 27" monitors and would recommend it. The worst part was putting it together, granted i never have put anything like that together before.

I love the stand. It's sturdier than those jointed arm stands. I had one of these monitor stands at my past job. Here's a pic of the battlestation. The joints sagged so the monitors weren't level no matter how hard you tried. It probably didn't help that those old school Dell Ultra-Sharp monitors were heavy.

First thing to do is to check to make sure your monitors even have VESA mounting points. And if they are 100mm, 75mm or one of the more rare, but out there 200mm x 100mm mounts.

Maybe you already have checked. I've just seen some tears recently over people not checking before ordering.

When you say "vertical" do you mean you would pivot the monitor into portrait? or you would mount one monitor above or below the other two?

Do you want a mount that clamps to the desk? sits on the desk? mounts to the wall? or some combination?

You could go with something like this ... and mount the 22 and 23 next to each other ... as low as possible on the desk. then the 27" above them. http://www.amazon.com/MonMount-Freestanding-Triangle-Orientation-LCD-3501T-B/dp/B00LI6E9JI

Or something like theis with the 27" in the middle while the 22" and 23" are pivoted into portrait on eitehr side. http://www.amazon.com/Mount-It-Articulating-Computer-Monitors-MI-753/dp/B00BDT072S/

Separate monitor arms would be much more expensive, but it might give you the flexibility to swap around the orientation.

Do you have any experience with the Gerton when it comes to desk-mounted monitor arms (or just how sturdy it is in general)? I currently have a 3-monitor mount but the base of it is huge so I figured I would get a desk-mount system for when I buy a new desk yet I am unsure if the desk can support it. Having tried to build one of these myself, I would strongly advise looking for an inexpensive model on a site like Monoprice or similar. Trying to get the hinges/arms to not sag under the weight of large monitors is extremely difficult and you will likely end up wasting a lot of money and effort.

I'm looking for a dual monitor mount. One that is fully adjustable. I would love some recommendations especially if you own an ASUS PG279Q.

What is the difference between this $60 VIVO mount versus this $190 Amazon Basics mount?

Are there any dual mounts that you have used that you would recommend as "best in class"?

Also I will be mounting an ASUS PG279Q and a 22" LG 1080p LED. I was wondering specifically about the PG279Q's recessed VESA mount. I have tried before to mount a PG279Q on what claimed to be a 100x100 VESA mount but ended up not fitting in the recessed mounting "dock thingy". That was a perfect answer man I love it! I was thinking about my heatsink but I didn't really put that much thought into it! I plan on stay 1440p 60hz for a good while at least until 4k becomes really affordable you know. The 1080 seemed right up my ally for a perfect 1440p card I was thinking I may just save up some money for it and go for it I've been thinking about that since it came out actually! Would you think a second monitor would be worth it though? I've been looking at these stands
(http://shop.ergotechgroup.com/dual-monitor-horizontal-desk-stand/)

and since theres no visa mount on my monitor i've been looking at these too (https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Bracket-Monitors-G227HQL-G247HYL/dp/B01771Q6U2/ref=pd_sim_147_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=319deaMR3cL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&psc=1&refRID=P59GBKDCGRN950E3GJVR0)

as for the hard drive, I currently have my os on one, games between the other too and just other stuff through on the 1tb. here's my steam profile too im with you on that huge steam library (steamcommunity.com/id/mewe123/) would you recomend a second wd blue 1tb?

I had to get the heavier rated arm (6.6-19.8 lbs) for the x34 because when I weighed it it was around 16.6 lbs without the stand. Glad I did to because I got the 14 lbs arm for my XB271HU and that seems to be about the max weight it will hold (~12.5 lbs).

I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/Nоrth-Mоtiоn-Spring-Cоmputеr-Mоnitоrs/dp/B01AI2YGK4/

It can be clamped to the desk but also screwed through the desk. I think that's what you want.

I am just not entirely sure if it will support the weight of the AW. Until today i had a LG 34UM65-P on it and that worked perfectly, no sagging or anything like that. Didn't try it yet with my new X34P which just arrived today. But i am quite positive it will work with that as well. And i guess the AW has a similar weight.

Everything i've read so far has the U2718Q and the LG 27UK650 series as identical from a panel perspective. The main differences are going to be price, inputs, and interface.

I think the LG has a stronger OSD design with it's little joystick. I've read that the Dells have problems if you have to switch inputs a lot but I haven't seen that substantiated. If you aren't switching between sources a lot then nbd.

Finally, the Dells have USB3.0 hubs built in. It's roughly a $30-$50 premium over the LGs which don't have it so whether or not that's worth it is up to you.

Actually the majority of IPS panels are 60Hz. Newest models often supports 75Hz but it isn't the norm yet.

Gsync/Freesync is always useful especially if you have dips in your framerate (low FPS). You could go with this model:

and buy a separate monitor arm because you'll restrict your options otherwise. Something like this : https://www.amazon.com/North-Bayou-Monitor-Computer-14-3lbs/dp/B01AI2YGK4/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=gas+monitor+arm&qid=1555689818&s=gateway&sr=8-5

You can go much cheaper though if you don't want VESA/stand though:

You have taught me so much. I'm ordering an arduino starter kit, Gonna mess around with styrene over the weekend. and I have some sweet TvMounts on there way for keyboard and mouse swingouts. Seriously Jag, you have no idea how similar our goals are with our rigs. Im going with your suggestion of screen mounts, cause my previous frankenstein of sheet-metal custom rigged to articulating lamp arms didn't pan out... keyboard too heavy. who knew :(.. lol rookie mistake. I don't know about you, but my motivation was the orginal Chris Roberts' kickstarter video when he's sitting in the Hornet

Instead of using a swing arm to mount the center stick I'm going to build a center console out of mdf that either leg will go around. I looked into base extensions and that's just too much work. Plus with a console I can rig up custom control similar to how you have the two extra switches (which are mad sexy btw).

I've wanted to mount LCDs behind my MFDs. Initially I was going to use 2xASUS memopads(100$ each) and run a PC monitor extender to them or use ROCCAT. I like your method, seems cheaper and smoother.

Again.. Jag, you beat me to the punch on the HUD, well in your case Targeting computer. I was going to implement a HUD akin to the F-16 or any real world fighter with the same concept you employed. LCD lay flat, 45' plexi reflect image. I was hoping to use it with raw game data if thats available in the future.

One different aspect Im doing is an HDMI, peripheral switcher. No matter how much I've tried to make it comfortable, the FPS just doesnt work in the cockpit. So I'm migrating my gaming rig out of the cockpit via HDMI switches and perif switches. At my main desk I have an old gaming PC that I use for less graphic intense stuff. They will both parallel the desk monitor and the desk keyb/mouse. Upon hitting the switches the star citizen rig will become active and taking over those devices so I can FPS more comfortably.

Funny bit is that when I exit the ship in game... I actually have to exit my cockpit and sit at my desk :p

Yeah, I have a Dell S something or another that doesn't have VESA, but did have a solid metal mounting point for the stand, so I was able to buy this adapter in order to VESA mount it. The downside was that this adapter is not centered height wise and that it made for a very wobbly setup. I ended up ordering another ultrasharp to match my main monitor, which now I wish I would have just splurged for a 1440P monitor. I love my Ultrasharps, so I will be sad to see one get demoted to my wife's desk. >Or, you know, you just used the cables Apple provided, which they could be certain met the necessary safety standards, unlike some $1 cable that probably doesn't but who cares?

<laughs> You've got a lot of faith in a company that doesn't give a shit about you. Enough to spout nonsense you know nothing about, and called the bluff of the wrong person. The $1 cable I referred to is one I've bought many of, of various lengths, as I don't like messy cables. It's a C7, or C7P plug, and it, like C5 cables plugs, and virtually all other US lamps, largely use the same wire. So much so, it's called "lamp wire". It's a pair of 18awg cable. Now this is the part where your little indignance breaks down, and it's gonna involve numbers that aren't money, so stay with me. 18awg cable is capable of running 10 amps over 120v power, so long as it isn't over 50 feet. The Apple cable is required to provide enough to supply a Macbook with, at most, 85 watts of power. Watts are calculated by multiplying voltage by amperage. So the Apple cable is required to supply 85. My $1 cable you doubt so much is capable of supplying 1200.

Truth be told, the Apple cable is likely 18 as well, possibly 20awg, since they like making money. But at this point it's pretty clear you don't know what you're talking about, but are heavily, emotionally invested in your opinion, and may want to rethink your opinions on Apple and your discretionary income choices.

>Probably because quality and safety cost money, hence the USB power supplies from reputable brands, that won't burn your house down, aren't $1 from eBay.

As I've shown above: No. It's just cuz Apple likes overcharging people, and people who like Apple appear to like getting overcharged, then get very defensive when it's pointed out. I take safety very seriously--more so than I care to explain right now, and far more than you'd likely believe. The $1 cables aren't from Ebay, but they also weren't USB cables. Please try to follow along. USB has become a very convoluted standard that requires a great deal of research to ensure you're getting what you need. There are some dangerous cables out there, so you need to be aware of what you're getting. They're going to cost more than $1, but a 6ft cable isn't $30. That's just you buying an Apple executive another vacation home.

>You won't be buying the stand unless you're buying the monitor.
>
>This isn't for your "gaming rig", it's for people that have the budgets to pay for it, where time is money, and don't want to waste time finding a cheaper alternative.

<googles "VESA compliant monitor mount"> Oh look. I found a cheaper alternative. It only took me <looks at non-existent watch> 10 seconds. At $970 savings, I'm saving almost $350,000 an hour! Boy, that certainly isn't worth "wasting time to find a cheaper alternative." Yeah, if I'm a business with a budget, it's certainly much better to just spend an extra $1,000 for every single one of these monitors we buy. That money clearly couldn't be better spent somewhere else.

But wait! There's more! True to Apple's philosophy of proprietary bullshit I explained earlier, they've made certain their monitor is not VESA compliant. Why, you ask? I'll tell you! This way if people come to their senses (as many have over this) and decide they don't want to pay Apple $1,000 for a ridiculously overpriced stand, they'll instead still be forced to pay Apple $200 for the adapter to that makes the monitor VESA compliant! Either way you go, Apple screws you over! :D

Noticing a pattern?

Oh, and their justification for this bullshit? It pivots between landscape and portrait, and has a magnet so you can disconnect it and take it with you. Now, the $30 option I showed also spins 360 degrees, so I guess they had to up their game to justify this nonsense by adding another feature that seems more like a solution looking for a problem than an innovation. I don't know why anyone needs to quickly disconnect and travel with a monitor that's the size of a small TV--it's not exactly convenient to transport something like that, but I give them points for the sheer audacity of suggesting this level of shit to justify another "innovation" they could use to rip people off even more. Bonus: If they encourage people to carry around a $5,000 monitor, there's a chance it'll get as destroyed just like an iPhone, requiring them to buy another!

Again, noticing a pattern?

Give if a month or so. Someone'll sell a better version of their VESA mount adapter for $50 on Amazon.

>By whinging about the cost of something you aren't required to buy. You don't even need to buy it even to use that monitor, you could of course find your own stand if you're willing to put in the time.

Ah, apparently you weren't aware of the $200 Sucker Tax. :) Yeah, the whole "Oh, but you're not required to buy it! We're doing you a favor!" line falls apart when everyone just realizes even Apple didn't think they could get away with charging an extra $1000 for the monitor by forcing people to buy the stand as well. That make it nearly double the cost of Dell's version, and they wanted to stay under Eizo and Sony. So, instead, it's a $5200 monitor, minimum. They're just milking the intended demographic, hoping they'll shell out more for overpriced nonsense because they're settling for the Apple XDR instead of getting a far more expensive reference monitor, but anyone in that same market is also going to look at others making similar products, so they still have to stay competitive. Brass tacks? You're the one who mentioned the monitor--I don't care about it. I said the stand is bullshit, because the ability to pivot, rotate and "easily disconnect" a 32" display does not justify a $1000 cost. Nor does a simple adapter for VESA compliance justify a $200 cost.

>I say this as someone who literally yesterday had to spend time filing down my new "VESA desk mount" to fit my expensive monitor

I'm hoping you're not saying it would be wiser to spend 1,000 USD than to spend a few minutes filing down a monitor mount. I'll stick with my middle-ground of buying VESA mounts that meet the typical 75 or 100mm standard, as I've never had any issues with them. It sounds like you got a low quality VESA mount, but the wonderful thing about standards is that you can measure both the monitor and the mount, and see who actually screwed up!

I’m returning mine. The panel itself is gorgeous.

I tried to use my monitor mount I got on Amazon and it doesn't fit (this thing works perfectly on my two Dells). The Vesa mount square (recessed area) in the back of the LG is too narrow to accept this mount. It would have required I shave down the corners of the bracket to get it to fit. Edit - got a spacer kit from amazon, I’m happy with it now. But others should be aware of it anyway.

So I tried to deal with the stand, but man oh man do I hate it. It doesn't allow the monitor to get low enough to the desk, it felt like I was looking up at it (and I'm tall). Compared to any Dell monitor stand I've touched, the LG's is just poor.

The power cable with the external brick is too short for good cable management on my desk so I had the cord jutting out to the side and since the monitor doesn't get low enough, it's very visible and an eyesore for me. Even the display port cable it came with is too short.

Again I thought the panel itself is pretty, but the inability to use my mount and the stand it came with are total deal breakers. I was very frustrated by it.

Edit -

For comparison on the amount of space under the monitor. The LG is at it’s lowest setting compared to the dell. https://i.imgur.com/xZjJFhF.jpg

The height of your desk could make or break it.

I'm talking about this
And there are no holes in the back that I know of. They are monitors without the 4 screw holes.

I agree. They'll probably buy the absolute best monitor mount you can get. Something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00689HXI4/
Which is $200
