You guys, I’ve been the luckiest thrifter recently. Here’s a roundup of some - but not all - of the things I thrifted in the last 30 days or so:

This pair of Clarks for $6. They’re so cute (unlike your typical old lady Clarks) and comfortable and I loved them so much that I bought a second pair from eBay for $29. I want to wear them every day forever.

Two pairs of Rag & Bone skinny jeans - this one and this one. They were a little pricy for thrift at $14 and $16 each, but Rag & Bone skinnies have been on my wishlist for a while so this really helps a broke girl out. They still feel really stiff and sturdy, like they were never worn or broken in.

These J Brand Maria jeans with a cute ankle zip. The model picture of these makes me laugh because they’re much less cropped and a bit higher waisted on my short legs.

A Calvin Klein fuzzy camel coat ($11) like this. It’s alpaca and wool. Just in time for summer, ha, but it looks really great on so I couldn’t resist.

A Theory blouse that looks exactly like this one only it’s 95% silk and a pale mauve color ($6).

A Barbour L116 Black Microfibre Short Quilted Jacket like this one ($15). I’m tempted to flip it, but I’m a sucker for black basics so I can’t!

These & Other Stories leather loafers, but in black. I couldn’t find a picture of the black ones anywhere online to save my life.

These Calvin Klein black skinny pants ($7). They’re super comfortable!

These Bass black faux leather sneakers ($4).

This Diane Von Furstenberg tank ($3). It’s silk and viscose and has actual goldtone chains woven across the front.

Topshop mid blue Jamie jeans ($8). These have also been on my denim wishlist. They’re super stretchy but in great shape. Also grabbed a pair of Levi’s just like these and some black BDG skinnies like these for $4 each. Yay! I’ve been replacing all my denim recently because I went up a couple sizes and the thrift gods just keep blessing me.

I also randomly stumbled across these never-worn Eileen Fisher sandals for $8 shipped on Mercari so obviously I bought them! I wasn’t sure how I felt about them, but they’ve grown on me and I’m glad I grabbed them.

Those are the Nine West Speakup. I can't say they're the most comfortable flats I own but I like the overall look so I just throw in some insoles and deal haha

My pairs from Dr. Scholls and Corso Como are more comfortable out of the box

I highly recommend the Clarks Charlie brogue! I have this exact pair and they're comfortable and good quality. They're also on sale if you're a size 6.5!

I have a pair of these oxfords that I love, look great, and get lots of compliments on.

On sale @ Amazon for $190

Still pretty new to the world of handsewns and this is my first venture into MIM footwear. I was able to try some on locally before purchasing so sizing wasn't an issue. I usually wear 10.5c(brannock) but sized these down to a 9.5 for sockless wear.

Shoes were made by Highland in Maine and with full grain leather from Horween in Chicago.

Same! I wear a size 6 in women's, so it's pretty much impossible to find masculine shoes. These are actually women's shoes I got on Amazon: U-lite Women's Perforated Lace-up Wingtip Leather Flat Oxfords Vintage Oxford Shoes Brogues (5, Brownblue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074DWD5CG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_62zYBbN6BZ4F1

I got these oxfords for a steal. The rope element feels island-y and casual. Thanks again!

Some folks think Naturalizer and Aerosoles can read old lady, but they also have lots of classic options and would definitely work for comfort! A friend of mine was wearing these yesterday.

Depends on your feet, but I have Dr. Scholls flats on Amazon on my wish list and it sends me a notification when they go on sale, so I never spend more than $30 on any given pair. They last me a long time.

I'd never heard of Rothy's until I saw your post, and they look so good! I'm going to keep my eyes on those too :)

Hey, poor grad student here as well!

The Shoe Guide has a comprehensive list, have you been through it?

Personally, I like Blucher Mocs. L. L. Bean makes an affordable, quality pair. I've never owned them, but I have these on the way. There was a humungous discount on these a week ago.

It looks just like the mens shoe. Yours just looks a bit different than the website since it has a short toe. The website uses (I think) size UK 8 (US 9) for the photos.

On Amazon.co.uk they advertise the 1461 as unisex: Link

Calling anyone who lives in/near Norway! I'm traveling to Europe this summer and will be spending a week in Norway and then a week near Pula, Croatia. We want to do some city sightseeing and some hiking, and I cannot for the life of me figure out what shoes to pack as my everyday walking shoes!

I'm planning to bring waterproof trail running shoes, but they're bright teal so not exactly chic for in the cities. I'm also bringing a pair of comfy leather sandals for beachside touring. My main concern is everyday footwear for Norway - do I need waterproof shoes? Are sneakers ok? Would these in dove look too touristy? All advice is welcome!

My shoe size is men US 11. This is the shoe I want. Thank you and happy holidays.

I have these oxfords in black and I'd definitely recommend them.

u/redparapluie · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

I have the charlie brogue. It looks like they currently have these available, but patent leather can easily get scuffed. Other quality comfort brands to consider are Born and Bass. Looks like you should be able to find something for 100-150(USD).

u/so_pitted · 1 pointr/FrugalFemaleFashion

They remind me of my Clarks...

u/QuaereVerumm · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

I love these Dr. Scholl's flats for work! I also wear Croc flats--no one ever guesses they're Crocs. I wear these cap-toe ones currently, but I would also wear their Lina and Rio flats.

u/jdroach · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I'm looking into purchasing these, and was wondering if anyone had any size comparisons for me to make a decision on size. For reference, I'm a 10D in Wolverine 1ks, 11 in Nike KillShots, and 11.5 in Vans Authentics.

u/julieannie · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

I have an earlier season of the Vans in Rose Gold and I just loved them. Burgundy is a prime color in my wardrobe and so it worked amazingly well with my outfits plus it was always a flash of fun without jewelry if I wanted to dress down a bit. In the summer I have a similar flash of bling with my Cole Haan shoes in blush and silver. I find those super lightweight and the Vans quite a bit clunkier but in the winter my feet were never cold with my vans and I had a lot of freedom to wear good socks with them or the hidden ones too.

Made a new account and signed in just to concur that Propét shoes are a godsend for me.

My feet are around a 9.5 W...... except that I have tailors bunions on both feet, so I need the toe box of a 9.5 XXW (4E). But of course, the back part of my foot is not wider to match. Also, I can only wear shoes with removable insoles so that I can put my fancy expensive insoles into them instead.

The ONLY styles of shoes I can currently wear are:

  • Propét Women's Delaney Ankle Bootie in 9.5 XXW (which I now own in 4 finishes/colors)
  • Propét Alice Oxford in 9.5 XXW
  • I can also wear Vionic flip flips in a 10 W, but not for extended wear. They're supportive but not supportive *enough* for my princess feet. :/

That's... it. I've tried just about every other Propét style. I've tried Naturalizer, I've tried Clarks, I've tried New Balance, Brooks, some really high-end stuff from Footwear Etc... Big fat nothing worked, even with stretching the toe box.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if a pair is okay or not when I'm trying them on, but when I take them off and it's a goddamned _huge relief_, that makes it pretty obvious. :(

And I agree re: sales. I'd pay full price for any of the above if I had to, but I set up 3camels alerts for the Delaney and the Alice to snatch them up when they hit the right price point.
