> i basically just need a light and thats it? if i want to grow autoflower only

oh boi... alright here we go.

youll need duct fans for both ventilation and heat dissipation, especially if you go with HPS/MH lights 600/1000watts will require reflectors with ducting so you can connect to it. This will need to exhaust out of your tent. Then you will need a intake fan coming preferably from outside. Youll most likely also need a Carbon filter attached in series to your exhaust fan. Your light will have a ballast as well, which creates a good amount of heat so plan for that to be located outside your tent. Youll also need smaller fans in the corners so you can keep a good air circulation going (hurricane fans are great). Also consider using T5 lights when starting your seeds off as your higher wattage lights are not good for seedlings. Also get a few supplies like gorilla tape and duct clamps and anything else you might need to secure everything together.

When it comes to growing, even if you are only doing autos youll need smart pots, fertilizer, promix HP, perlite plus both vegging and flowering nutrients. Have access to PH up and down solution, and also get a Ph Pen + PPM meter (TDS).

Ive only linked amazon, there are probably other local options for you.

If you are looking to buy a fan, I recommend this one by Rowenta because it is very quiet. I bought two and frequently forget to turn them off because they are so quiet. They also move the air quite well. The only bad thing is that the metal tends to rust after a few years, so I recommend spraying the metal with a clear coat to inhibit that rust.

u/nivek_c · 8 pointsr/Skookum

nope, motion industries has them at 726 each

https://www.motionindustries.com/productDetail.jsp?sku=03251353

and amazon has the non oscillating 30" for 324 freedom doll hairs

this is just a super skookum fan, and the manufacturer knows it

This bad boy on repeat is in my HEAVY rotation:
BELIEVE in BARBELL

And my favorite lifting power song is Closer by NIN... NSFW. Holy shit, that music video is soooooooo mid 90's NIN. Ha! Maybe you just had to be there....

Unexpected items for my garage gym. Ha! Here are a few things that provided me much more pleasure than I thought they would:

  • My wife made me buy a fan for our garage gym. I delayed and fought, then finally installed it. I use it every day!

  • This electric leaf blower is the shit. I love it. Hint: Buy it from Home Depot, not AMZ

  • Man, our EZ curl Axle is so much fun

  • I do NOT have this in my garage gym, but I installed an Assault Air Runner in our Fringe gym, and I use it a lot more than I thought I would (I am a trail runner by choice).

  • Kickr Core
  • Trainer Road for software
  • Fan
  • Table
  • Ipad to run software, output to a wall mounted TV
  • Wireless, sweat proof earbuds for music.

I did the TV for Zwift, but didn't want to pay for 2 things and I like Trainer Road better so dropped zwift, still use the TV. Fan has a remote control and 4 settings, the remote is super useful as I start with it on the lowest setting.

Fanning is just a pain in the ass and when you're opening the container and drastically disturbing the air you're also going to tank your humidity levels which will more negatively impact fruiting. Same goes for removing polyfill I'd wager, in addition to allowing contaminants through since the polyfill filters them.

If you get fuzzy feet and you think you have enough holes in your container, putting a fan in the room would probably be the safest step. I have one of these running at full blast in front of my window which usually has a slight breeze coming in. It faces the same general direction as my tubs and the airflow is just enough that I can see individual polyfill fibres lightly blowing in it. With that, they've got consistent humidity levels and no fuzzy feet.

I purchased this one
Hurricane 736565 Fan, Super 8 Oscillating 16 Inch Wall, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L2L3WUG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_F9b4CbHNFS176

Mounted above the screen and works great! Has a remote which I can use while running if I need it. Wind coming off this thing feels amazing!

Nice! I really like how you adapted it to also work for flight experiences.

You might consider a giant fan to go in front like this. It makes open cockpit flight and driving stuff seem all the more real. I have yet to figure out how to put it under speed control, though, so I turn it on and off with my foot, which is still pretty good.

This is the fan I bought It's a bit noisy, but I don't notice with my headphones on (more of a concern to others in the room). Edit: Apparently this is not the fan I bought, as Amazon is showing somethign slightly different, though similar.

I also have a butkicker to vibrate the seat, for yet more immersion. I'm a bit disappointed with how hard it was to get working with Project Cars using Sim Commander. I eventually gave up and just T-d the audio for my headphones into the butt kickers, and found that still to be a surprisingly good experience - picking up on the low frequencies of driving over rumble strips and such in a way that is more realistic than I would have expected for simply mirroring my audio. My butt kickers worked even better for Assetto Corsa, since I could get them properly configured using Sim Commander, but I stopped playing AC due to it's awkward menu and lack of official Vive support. Note: If you go the "butt kicker" route, you might research alternate brands. I bought two of them, and one of them burned out already. I am not convinced it is the best brand, but I am convinced that extra vibrations are worth it.

As far as experience recommendations go, I am a big fan of Project Cars, but you already have that. You might look at DCS world for a flight simulator, though it's got awkward menus and it's a bit hard to do all the keyboard stuff. Still, once you are flying, its quite compelling. A better VR experience, though a lesser flight simulator (but still quite good) is "AeroFly FS2". Both of these are on Steam.

Edit: You might also look at iRacing and rFactor. I do not have any personal experience with these, though, so cannot comment further.

Also, for those of you wondering, the PlaySeat is really quite nice. Sounds like a toy, but I'm really happy with mine. I really like that I can adjust it to match the kind of car I am driving and it is quite comfy. My setup also uses the Thrustmaster T500 RS racing wheel, which I like a lot, though I do not know if it is "the best", since I have nothing else I have compared it to.

Get a fan like this. The white noise works wonders at canceling out other sounds.

Most of my indoor growing has been in a cool garage under some old 24” T-12 fixtures with a combination of daylight and ‘grow spectrum’ tubes. A couple of years ago I wanted to try LED, so now I also have a small (10”x22”) flat of misc succulents and bulbs under a Fluence Bioengineering Ray22 in ‘PhysioSpec Indoor’ spectrum.

I mainly got the fan in order to cool the LED lamp, and I have it mounted at the end of the setup, directed downward at a low angle over the lamp. Even though it’s on ‘Low’ and doesn’t blow directly on the plants, the air movement completely changed indoor growing for me. I can water with impunity now, the tops of the plants dry off quickly, everything is healthier, and the plants tolerate a soil mix with more moisture-retention. At first I had some rooted cuttings in that flat with an all-mineral soil mix, and they required almost daily watering.

Edit; The fan is on the same timer as the lights. I can run the fluorescents as close to the plants as I want, some are under 3” away, the leaves of others grow up between the tubes. 6” seems to be good for the LED, any closer and I start to see a lot of reddish coloration.

Look at 'ceiling hugger' fans. They actually work pretty well. If they don't suit you, look at some wall mounted units:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L2L3WUG

u/Notevenspecial · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

You can stop the rust and corrosion by spraying clear lacquer over the metal parts before hanging it on the wall.

I'd recommend agricultural fans, but the drawback is that noise is not anything the manufacturer cares about. You want one that is as close to silent as you can get it. Durable but noisy isn't going to cut it for you.

I have two of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L2L3WUG

Cheap plastic everything. Even the gears are nylon, so I am only expecting three of four years of use before they quit oscillating. But they are damn near silent, have three speeds, go up and down, side to side, and also a figure 8. Add to the fact they are remote controlled, and these things are hard to beat for the low price they sell for.

u/Guslet · 2 pointsr/microgrowery

I use this hurricane in my 1.6x3 ft tent: https://amzn.to/2Goxhlk and I have a couple of these https://amzn.to/2D8cPBR in my 4x4 with another tower fan.

I have a pedestal fan (quite large and powerful) from Lowe’s connected to a smart plug controlled by voice through Amazon echo dot (which also controls my music). After a couple of minutes warmup — “Alexa, turn fan on”

This is the quietest one I have ever heard. Super quiet on the lower speeds, but moves a lot of air:

I bought a pedestal-stlye oscillating fan made by Lasko last summer. Got it at Rite Aid and it has worked out very well. Got another brand before that and returned it - the Lasko was designed much better. But it did cost about thirty nine bucks. It's pretty large (18"). You can get the 16" diameter for about ten bucks less. Here it is on Amazon - free shipping too.

I stumbled onto this subreddit earlier today. It's pretty amazing what you all do for each other - beautiful.

I am currently out of work (but desperately looking,) in between college semesters trying to make ends meet - mostly by donating plasma and doing odd jobs. I live without air conditioning and normally use a fan. However, my fan crapped out on me last night. It has been so hot and I could barely sleep. I ended up laying on the kitchen floor to keep as cool as possible. I will not be able to afford a fan until late august at this rate. Today, I was shopping around on amazon and it seemed like this fan was the best deal but I still can't afford it: http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-2521-Oscillating-Stand-Fan/dp/B0014IDZOU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1374805534&sr=8-3&keywords=fan

It's only $25 including shipping.
I can understand if someone else is more compelling to you but I'm sure imagine how I would feel if I got a fan during this heat wave! I promise that I would pay it forward.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful week.

we had a Vornado 723B (no longer available) substantially similar in design, except all black and without the handle; the Vornado 783 looks like a taller version of 723B

our 723B lasted us about ten years of heavy use during summers, and simply stopped working late last fall — i will attempt to revive it this summer; the feet on 293 are a good idea — ours had just the bare loop of aluminum pipe, so we improvised with foam pipe insulation to reduce vibration on a hard floor; once that was fixed it was pretty quiet; i really like this design because it can be aimed precisely and it is a good use of materials

in comparison, it looks like the replacement model for 723B is the Vornado 660; Sweethome likes it but based on imagery, i think the base may be more prone to breakage and it doesn't look nearly as good (i prefer matte plastic finishes)

we also have a smaller Vornado, plus a small Vorrnado heater-fan, and both have survived 10+ years but with a lighter duty cycle

u/RichardBLine · 1 pointr/homeautomation

Why not just sell it on Ebay and buy one one that has manual controls ? I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/Vornado-Full-Size-Whole-Room-Circulator/dp/B000E1CB2U/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

and I hook it up to an iDevices switch so that I can control it from Homekit and it works fine.

A tool set :) they are extremely handy for decorating and repairs :D I use mine ALL the time!

A good cookware set

12th day after switching to 12/12.
It vegged for approx 60 days, and was showing signs of pre-flowering.

Edit: sorry I forgot to give info on the fans. I have two in this tent. They are Hurricanes ordered from Amazon.

How far do you have to go to not lie to a customer then?

They didn't show the customer charging the item, paying their electric bill, the power station that makes the power... all essential if you want to have a working fan, but that's a given.

They're also not the only ones advertising their products free from power cables...

u/enska3 · 1 pointr/RandomActsofCards

I love this and am attempting to do the same, but I have no motivation right now. Anyway, I like my floor fan a lot. It's one of my favorite purchases ever.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071JBX9MQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_I3iSBbE07TPWZ

I can come up with something different if that's too hard/weird. Stay safe!

u/sennister · 1 pointr/Homebrewing

I don't have a microwave above my stove but I get condensation on my hood that will drip back into the kettle. I discovered if I run a fan blowing across the top of the kettle it prevents this. A tall one like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Comfort-Zone-CZST161BTEBK-Pedestal-Fan/dp/B004RSXT04/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1412125869&sr=8-5

It doesn't have to be right next to the stove either. I have mine on high on the other side of the kitchen (10' or so away) and just the movement of air not only prevents moisture from collecting and dripping back from the vent, but also it does a great job of keeping the foam down when doing a first hop addition. I still watch it but if I have that fan running it has never come close to a boil over.

Good answer though, free is free.

My lab had 5 of these sitting around when I started working here: https://www.amazon.com/Hurricane-Clip-Fan-306-CFM/dp/B00IGFJFSY

Super handy, I bring them around back behind the racks whenever I need to do some wiring to stay a little cooler. Also nabbed one for my desk. They were a life-saver when we lost AC for 6 hours one day... recommend if you're looking for a fan or two to replace the USB ones.

u/kodack10 · 1 pointr/smarthome

Well the Harmony hub can link to Echo natively and allow you to control any infrared device with Alexa. The fan I use is this honeywell
