The idea was inspired by this, however, I didn't want to pay $15 for something he would grow out of in a week, so I just bought a cheap, plain, onesie and printed the image myself with iron-on transfer paper.

I'm thinking I may print another next year on his birthday with increased stats ;)

The paper is 50 cents a picture, which is less than I thought. Here is 50 sheets for $25.

I don't really use Amazon as it only just launched in Australia and they are more expensive than other places atm but for all you US PC gamers this might be helpful

here's what I've been using:
INKPRESS MEDIA 350 GSM, 15 Mil, 95 Percent Bright Paper (#AV851120) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TFXEHFM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fDSAzbVQZ7HWY

So far these have worked really well for me

For "prints" - I'm able to make 300 that have substantial amount of white space...as in not completely full color edge-to-edge, but illustration, or lots of colored text & boxes on white background. But I find to print 2 A2 cards on a sheet with a full bleed is about 30-40 seconds or so. I haven't used a stopwatch or what not, but I usually just let the printer do it's thing, I run off and do errands like the dishes, and just come back to make sure the ink isn't streaking if it's warned me that it's low. Usually a sign the ink is low is if there's like a skip in the print, or a very thin line...or if a color like magenta is done then the print will be lacking the pink tones.

-------------
I get everything from Amazon, and currently I've found these to work great:

  • Hammermill 80lb Cover (it's very velvety feeling and takes ink well, not super stiff but a good overall cardstock weight). It feeds VERY WELL through the printer.

  • Accent Opaque 120lb Cover I bought 1200 sheets of this. It's VERY stiff board and really adds substantial weight to greeting cards, and takes color very well. The only downside is because it is very thick, every so often the printer won't grab the paper to feed through if you try to pre-load 5+ sheets of it. I have to do 2-3 sheets at a time for the printer to be able to grab it. There's also 100lb as well that's slightly thinner and good for cards and feeds a little better but I got the 120 because I had some weird Amazon coupon to make it much cheaper than the 100.

I've also found great color with the other following papers:

  • Hammermill 24# paper Excellent for just daily printing - I found 20# to be very thin but still doable! But love the 24# because the colors turn out nice and smooth.

  • Canon Luster Photo Paper This paper is amazing for photography prints...I'm not too keen on glossy types but this makes the color feel richer and the luster texture helps to hide any small jpeg articfacting or imperfections in the file/print.

How Much do you think those things cost?
In the end they are probably making money not loosing it.

u/Malamodon · 2 pointsr/analog

I use Kenro acetate or paper 120 file pages with their slipcase ring binder to help keep the dust out, though any 3 or 4 ring binder will work.

I made them all (Except the star made of guns, that's from and Anti-Flag Show) Though I feel like I did cheat a little bit and used printable iron-on transfers to make the patches rather than screen printing them.

i actually found a really nice set of 50 glossy sheets on amazon, fairly thick, glossy from amazon

I had to play around with the depth for the kiss cut since the paper is so thick but the gloss level is not super aggressive and the quality of the paper is insane for the price

You can buy magnetic paper in stores or online.

See here or here for two product examples.

Nope, I'm in the states, but I think you shouldn't have any trouble ordering the stuff:

https://www.amazon.com/PPD-Inkjet-Glossy-8-5x14-PPD133-50/dp/B07C83STNY

It's PPD Inkjet Glossy Photo Paper, 8" x 14", cheaper than official stuff, works just as well. Also your choice between 8x11 or 8x14 will be dependent upon what case sizes you're printing, my general rule of thumb is you can get away with 11" for handhelds but you'll need 14" for DVD/Blu-ray size. There always seems to be an exception to that rule though so I err on the side of going large with the 14", never had any problems there... just a lot of scrap paper after cutting to size 😄

As to the actual sizes of the printed image, that will depend on what you want to print of course. I'm out & about right now so I don't have my cover scans handy but I could dig up the dimensions later if you tell me what systems you're printing for. Also, if you get your scans from thecoverproject.net, most images will already be set up to print the correct size from their native DPI, just do a print preview before actually printing to confirm its centered so you have margins to cut and that the size looks right.

I love the design! I don't own a 3D printer so I can't be sure, but using printable iron-on sheets like these might be cheaper!

I bought it from a local kpop store, but I found it on amazon without much fuss. I don't get much of an opportunity to share them since most people I know IRL aren't Jin stans :(

Hey! Thank you for doing this contest, this is something really amazing for you to be doing! My husband is active duty military in the Army at Fort Campbell, KY. He just moved there from Schofield Barracks, Hi. He is a 91? Bravo. Low track mechanic.

I say he, because I am currently away from him ={ to finish my degree so if he decides to get out of the military we have something to fall back on or if he stays in it will follow him. I was just with him last week (YAY) and I will see him again in two weeks but then we will be separated again until May. Then I will live with him full time all summer until school starts again in August or he deploys in July. (CROSS YOUR FINGERS HE DOESN'T GET DEPLOYED)

I would love to have this. It's a portable printer that you can send pictures from your phone to and it instantly prints photos without ink wherever you are. I think this would be an amazing gift for my husband because he is always taking pictures and wants to share them with me. But sometimes when he is deployed or he is away at training he has no way of taking pictures and he forgets to show them to me later when we are together again. I know this is the full amount of money you are offering, so I believe that it's not fair to ask for it....

The only other thing I have that would help our lives is a zoodle maker because I want to try to make healthier meals for him to help him feel better and motivate him to want to stay fit. He's not fat! Don't take it that away. But again this is pretty expensive too =(

Otherwise... Semi cheaper... Sorry again! I think this battery charger would be good for when he is in tight spaces and he doesn't have an outlet to charge his phone. This portable charger will always give him the power he needs in time of no power.

Thanks for the contest! Only just now did I realize it was you Ms. Sarah =) Have a wonderful night!!!!!

Before the Goddamned Marines get all of the credit.

I buy ink for my Epson XP-405 for £24.10 for 1 Litre of all 4 ink colours, so thats £4.01 per litre of a single colour, or £0.60 per 100ml bottle that comes with 1 of each colour for a total of £2.41. The cis unit cost me £26.99 and actually came with 100ml of each ink colour. So it cost me under £30 for the whole thing and the price for 1 set of Epson refill cartridges is £44.92, which contains about 20 times less ink. Ink companies can stick their ink up their arse.

Real Epson ink.

CIS for most Epson XP printers

CIS refill ink.

Haha. I appreciate that. I would be happy to teach you how to do them. It's shockingly easy. Once you have a onesie or shirt, etc:

  1. Buy some of these: http://www.amazon.com/Avery-T-shirt-Transfers-Printers-03271/dp/B00006B8FS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462209898&sr=8-1&keywords=avery+light+transfer+paper (If you're doing a dark shirt, buy the dark transfers, and follow those directions, they are different!)
  2. Type up what you want on the shirt. You can copy and paste the logo or a picture into Word (or similar program) I just did a google image search for Ghost logo, found the one I wanted, saved photo to my computer, then inserted it into Word. For the non-logo font, I found some free medieval/gothic and heavy metal or horror fonts from dafont.com and chose one. The one I used is called Portcullion.
  3. Mirror the image so it prints on the transfer sheet backward
  4. Use a table or other non-heat absorbing surface (so not an ironing board)
  5. Put dry iron on cotton setting, No Steam, and heat for a few minutes
  6. Line the work area with an ironed pillowcase, then iron the onesie, shirt, etc
  7. Place the transfer, design side down, and iron. Depending on the size of the transfer, iron from 45 for 1/4 page, to 2 minutes for full page.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes, then peel the transfer sheet away, and the image will remain on the fabric!
