i already put mayo on the toast anyway since the first time i made this it felt really dry. I also have ketchup on the opposite piece of toast for moisture. I thought about putting these sweet hot pickle slices that i have on it- Famous Dave's Devil's Spit pickles

they are like $4 a jar at kroger, and they are one of my favorite pickles now.

I do not have a recipe. The one time I made it, it was pretty mediocre. Fortunately I'm in Chicago.

But for everyone else, this is my favorite commercial store bought brand: Marconi Hot

I love giardiniera on sandwiches and veggie burgers... but I prefer the hot variety, packed in oil and in small bits. Here a link to my preferred brand... you may find you like it!

This is what you want. Apparently some are from Taiwan and some are from Sichuan, I think this brand is legit.

My bet would be to try Kakulas Bros in Northbridge first, and then maybe pop in to some specialty/international grocers and ask if they've got them. They're the little red buggers in prepared spanish olives. Get a jar and dig em out maybe?

For the life of me I can't imagine what sort of American recipe you're making that requires these, and I'm an American. Dafuq you doin?

Go find an Indian food market and ask for something called 'achaar'. My favorite brand is Shan, and the one I always get has the orange lid.

Anyway, it's an Indian pickle made with mangoes, oil, and spices. Super delicious and goes very well with basically any Punjabi/north Indian dish, particularly the subzi (curried vegetables) and paratha (a kind of flatbread usually made with a savory filling).

I love that shit.

Edit: so Amazon got dat dope [hookup] ( http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008F08SRE/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_awdm_ByY1tb0A1PRKW). I get the kind with the green label, which is just mango, but this has the same spice mixture and just has some extra veggies.

I tried the same thing last week for a party. I found some stuff on amazon but it was out of stock. Ended up having a friend in Chicago ship me some peppers and relish.

Looks like some stuff is back in stock: http://www.amazon.com/VIENNA-SPORT-PEPPERS-CHICAGO-DOGS/dp/B003MX1BFU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406820550&sr=8-1&keywords=sport+peppers

Where are you based?

Here's a link to the brand I use: https://www.amazon.com/Bin-Sui-Cai-SuiMiYaCai-Vegetable/dp/B01N7T7M4X

Oh yeah that's totally different. Honestly, if you find it impossible to source just skip it. Here's a blogger talking about finding Yacai in a Chinese supermarket, and she actually uses precisely the same bag as us.

It's also available on Amazon here but that is pretty expensive. I'm 90% sure a Chinese supermarket would have it for cheaper. I understand shipping and all, but that same sized bag is less than one dollar in China lol

Amazon always Amazon, though I do not think either a kit or fear is needed for making kimchi

Before I pay way too much for the wrong stuff, is this what you guys are talking about? Can't find any good stuff here in Texas, so I would be stoked to occasionally order pricey stuff for a special occasion. Also found some cheaper options but I'm interested to hear general advice on the best Giardiniera you can get delivered.
