For the Makita guys

I do not own one, just figured you guys may want a link.

u/tooldvn · 19 pointsr/BuyItForLife

If you have other Dewalt tools, THIS is the SHIT. Will take a beating and can charge your tools, or run off your battery packs.

Edit: You can also charge multiple phones from it at the same time. That's a huge selling point for a beach party. Has an auxillary 1/8" port so you can plug in your phone/ipod from the headphone jack.

Looks like they hacked the 18v to 20v adapter, but I don't know if they hard wired into the vacuum or what after that. https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-18v-20v-Adapter-DCA1820/dp/B016K1UD0E/

Since you're a construction worker you've probably seen these around:

Dewalt
Makita
Bosch

I don't have firsthand experience with them, but they are good brands. Makita especially has never let me down. For bluetooth you could pair it with a cheap BT adapter from Monoprice, which would give you a modular solution. I have that exact BT receiver and it works fairly well and provides a USB charging port.

The radio would be extremely BIFL as far as electronics are concerned, and you could swap out the BT receiver with whatever hot new tech comes along.

u/ShakataGaNai · 6 pointsr/dji

This is... odd... but most curious. Well done!

For those looking for the product, theLANMU Battery Adapter for Dewalt 18V/20V Lithium Ion Battery. Apparently there is also a DEWALT DCB090 12V/20V Max USB Power Source (on brand) that only does USB out.

Or, maybe spend $5 for a battery tester maybe?

To be honest, however, I just swap/recharge them out after each rehearsal/show. With Alkalines as low as $0.25/AA Cell, no reason not to.

u/Bauer22 · 6 pointsr/DumpsterDiving

Another trick to keep in mind if the batteries are dead is that they sell adapters to use the newer 20v batteries in the older 18v tools like this. They seem to hold a charge better and longer.

Get rechargeable batteries instead. This is a great brand that a lot of gamers use and recommend and that I own as well. They will last longer than the battery packs and it's cheaper and you can use them in other things other than your controller.

u/BaconAndWeed is right on point. I probably have a total of a dozen or more batteries at the moment (some are still in use while others are safely stored in plastic containers made for 18650 batteries). I'd recommend searching on Eciggity or VaporDNA for something like this.

People that are fairly new to the vaping community become a bit paranoid when it comes to batteries (I was too!). I started vaping just before box mods started coming out and people were shocked seeing all the clouds being blown lol. At first it was fun explaining what vaping was, but nowadays vaping and vapers get such a bad name (thanks social media :/)

u/YouAreSalty · 3 pointsr/xboxone

My charger came with the batteries, and I suggest you just buy a kit with it all. Something like this

I have had my Eneloop for over almost 15-years now starting with the Xbox 360. For 5 of those years, it sat in storage, and still works great!

u/BlueSwordM · 3 pointsr/preppers

Here is what you want:

  1. Rechargeable Eneloops/AmazonBasics 1900mAh cells. The 1900mAh are the ones which have the lowest self discharge, and can keep their charge for years and years:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CWNMV4G/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1527200729&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=amazon+basics+aa

    D cell adapters:

3.Get yourself some 18650 and a removable 18650 power bank. Their high energy density is extremely useful, and replaceable 18650s are crucial in a power bank, to charge phones, tablets, flashlights, etc.

    18650(buy 2 of them):
    https://liionwholesale.com/collections/frontpage/products/samsung-inr18650-30q-battery-15a-3000mah-flat-top-wholesale-discount-genuine-and-tested?variant=2915614724

    Power bank:

And finally, a charger. A bit overkill, but it can charge about every type if battery you know of, and can even analyze them:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07428G1G2/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1527200836&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=zanflare+c4&dpPl=1&dpID=51ZEgO0qHRL&ref=plSrch

I have everything except for the universal charger, and I can vouch for their quality and have confidence in them.

There are certainly a few chargers to choose from:

u/NedSc · 3 pointsr/livesound

You might be able to use something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076MZQ42P/

u/brandon7s · 2 pointsr/flashlight

Short answer? Zebralight SC62w.

It uses 18650 batteries which you can get for about $11 a pop at illumn.com; Keeppowers 3400mah are the ones that we recommend here the most. It's also insanely compact and waaay brighter than you think it will be. It also has hands down the greatest user interface of any light.

You'll need a charger next. There are a lot of options here, but what I always keep in my bag is a simple Xtar MC1, it's simple, small, and it works great. Works with more than just 18650s as well.

I use a Nitecore i4 at home but that's because I have quite a few lights and like the extra simultaneous battery capacity.

The light will run you about $85. Illumn doesn't have them in stock, which is a bummer because that's my favorite store for this hobby, but other places (such as amazon) has them.

Battery is about $11, charge is another $11. So $107 for a great and simple setup.

Another option would be getting a headlamp/90 degree style light. I EDC one of those; the Zebralight H600w. It doesn't come with a pocket clip though so that's kind of a bummer. I use a Armytek Wizard pocket clip (thanks Killzoneflashlights.com!) with it and they might as well have been made for each other. Problem is they are sold out of the pocket clips and I don't know when they'll be getting more in. I've emailed Armytek's customer service and had one shipped to me for $13, but I'm not sure how open they are to shipping them to people who don't actually own the Wizard light that it's supposed to be for.

Another option for a headlamp style light is the Armytek Wizard Pro (get the warm light version). It's actually only a little bit larger than the ZL H600 and of course it comes with a pocket clip. I love mine and rotate between the H600w and the Wizard Pro frequently.

With a holder like this. Though most of mine came free with the batteries.

u/DesolationRobot · 2 pointsr/Tools

One thing you have going for you is that they're nicads and older tech with less actual tech built in to the battery. Newer LiIon ones the battery itself is pretty smart and I wouldn't trust 3rd party.

One thing you have going against you is that's an obsolete battery platform, so any money you throw towards it feels wasted.

If it's just the one drill, I'd shop for a new drill. Get something current-gen. Even a current-gen lithium-ion 12v drill will likely be as powerful as your older nicad 18v--and much smaller/cheaper.

If you had a lot of tools that were still useful, you could look in to a battery adapter to let you buy new LiIon batteries that you could eventually use in new tools.

If money is tight, though, I'm sure the 3rd party nicad will work just fine--they're really not that complicated compared to the new smart ones.

In your situation, I'd definitely look hard at the DCA1820 adapter.

https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DCA1820-Dewalt-Battery-Adapter/dp/B016K1UD0E

Lets you use the new XR Li-ion batteries in your existing XRP tools.

There are also some knock-off clones of the DCA1820 on ebay and amazon for half the price or less, which are getting decent reviews and seem to work OK.

This will allow you to get much better batteries, and then start phasing in new tools as you need them.

u/nopnopnopnopnop · 2 pointsr/flashlight

It's worth it just for tint and CRI alone. I'd recommend a quality battery charger like the Xtar MC1 Plus or Xtar VC2S. If you need 14500s get a bunch from Illumn. These VapCells are the highest capacity 14500s on the market (so far).

I got mine from Amazon. I got this exact package went it was on sale for $17. It goes on sale a few times a year. I'd keep an eye out on slick deals for it, they sell out pretty quickly. I wouldn't buy it for $33, but at $25 or lower sure.

u/ski_it_all · 2 pointsr/Tools

Something to consider is their 18V to 20V battery adapter. Let's you buy into the new system and batteries for the lawn mower, but you can continue using your old 18v tools until they die.

https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DCA1820-Dewalt-Battery-Adapter/dp/B016K1UD0E

This will depend on how often you use the tools though. If it's a daily thing the added bulk of the adapter could get annoying quick.

u/sords · 2 pointsr/Flipping

u/Fittritious · 1 pointr/vandwellers

I use a marine 2-bank 20a charger like this.

I like having it charge both banks of batteries when I've got the van parked for longer periods. As you can see, there are quite a few configurations depending on how many banks you want to charge and how many amps.

You can get inverter/charger combos but if you have an inverter that works for you I recommend just keeping them separate. Things can get much more complicated as soon as you combine them.

u/ganymede_mine · 1 pointr/AdviceAnimals

Get an adapter. Then buy the wiggly saw with a battery, they usually come with one free.

u/TK421isAFK · 1 pointr/electricians

I'm not sure. I think what I used was a retrofit-type battery - the batteries that you started seeing on the market 5 - 7 years ago that were designed to fit in existing 18-volt NiCad tools (center battery). Those seem to be getting somewhat scarce, too. I imagine it's cheaper to build a cell pack with just the cells and no charging circuit, thus having more contacts between the pack and charger.

For what it's worth, Dewalt now sells a lithium pack to NiCad tool adapter, but it seems kinda bulky.

I'll be at Lowes later, and I'll see if I can match up what I used. For some reason, I didn't leave myself a note in the charger. I usually do that, reminding myself what I used and the date I built the device, but I really didn't expect the motor to handle the increased voltage more than a few months. I did notice, however, that the donor charger has only one LED (flashing = charging, steady = charged) and that most newer chargers have several indicators. That could help figure out which charger I butchered.

u/pdxdiscgolf · 1 pointr/Tools

Where can I find more info about this? I just got my dad two new 20v XR tools and an adapter so he can use his old 18v tools with the new batteries. His 3 old NiCad batteries are about dead and swapping them out for this would be much better than just recycling them.

He already has a charger for the new kit he bought. I wonder if he could swap out a new charger for something else when he exchanges his batteries?

Edit:
DEWALT DCA2203C 20-Volt MAX Battery Adapter Kit for 18-Volt Tools https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016K1UEPS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_w29ZzbK47KTXH

So is it basically just $20 off this when you swap the old batteries? That's not a ridiculous deal, but it's still better than getting nothing for the old ones.

u/radiobrain · 1 pointr/Tools

in case you didnt know this exists... dewalt makes an adapter that allows you to run their newer cells in old nicad tools.

https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DCA1820-Dewalt-Battery-Adapter/dp/B016K1UD0E

of course this would be more expensive than creating something yourself.

u/SONICBOOM1991 · 1 pointr/vaporents

What temp are you using and is the grasshopper/batteries new? Using on temp ~3-3.5(finishing off with one or two hits on 4-5) I have been able to get about three bowls with a brand spanking new battery. But I have found they degrade quite quickly and the threading between the body and the back end has to be really clean to get the most out of it. I just had mine out tonight and got two bowls with the first battery with a little left to go(was done after that). But carrying spare batteries is a must if your using your hopper on the go all day or sharing it. My hopper daily carry set up includes 1 spare battery and portable charger like the ones I'll link to bellow. The cheapest and easiest thing would be to buy a 4000 watt generator..

You've made it clear you don't want to run a generator. You'll want at least 120-200 amp hours in batteries. Pulling 30a, on one battery from 100% to 40% will kill that battery real quick. Having two will spread the load and extend the lifetime of the batteries. Wire a 10 amp battery charger that you plug an extension cord into every night.

Have a 4000 watt inverter, pure sine not modified, otherwise you will use 120-150 amps in battery power, just to get 60 amps into the scooters (massive efficiency loss). Have that hooked up to your two deep cycle batteries. Run a power strip and plug in all your scooter chargers. Then when your home plug in the shore power to recharge your batteries.

OR BUY A GENERATOR

u/markdjr · 1 pointr/boostedboards

This is not a very good solution. You would be better off just buying a 12v battery and inverter, cheaper and lighter. Additionally, the one yu listed uses a SLA battery, which is why it is so heavy. This would be a better solution but still not ideal.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZZNMV1Z?_encoding=UTF8&%2AVersion%2A=1&%2Aentries%2A=0&deviceType=desktop&ref_=de_a_smtd&showDetailTechData=1#technical-data

Oh haha... you can typically find adaptors that fit the battery of your platform that have a 12v barrel jack. I just cut the leads from my vex and added a male barrel jack that fits.

The specific one I use is a non branded eBay find. Just search something like “20v (18v Milwaukee) to 12v dewalt battery adapter.

Something like this

Amazed people still use non recharable batteries. My suggestion would be to invest in 8 good quality recharable batteries like Eneloops and just swap them from the charger to controller when required.

I personally bought this package maybe 5 years ago and the batteries are still going strong in my xbox controllers and other devices.

https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-KJ17MCC82A-Eneloop-Advanced-Individual/dp/B00JHKSLSW/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1510351864&sr=8-14&keywords=eneloop+aa

Make sure you get similar batteries if you choose another brand that hold a charge for a long time. The cheaper rechargables go flat very quickly even without use. I think eneloops and similar ones can hold charge for 10 years even if just sitting there.

u/yosoyreddito · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

If you already have 20v kit, Dewalt makes an adapter so you can use 20v batteries in 18v tools. Look around, I know a few months ago most tool supply companies were selling most 18v tools/batteries at a deep discount.

If you're willing to spend more and get new, right now is the time to buy. You can get a brushless 3 speed impact and hammer drill, that comes with a 2.0ah and a 6.0ah flexvolt (their next gen battery system) battery for $380. In addition you get 2 free tools (20v bare tools or 20v batteries).

The best package I would say is the impact + drill, with a free circular saw and 2-3.0ah batteries.

Edit: If you don't have 20v; I just saw this kit, you can get an adapter with 2-2.0a batteries and charger for $105. Probably the best solution and will give you extra 20v batteries if your 18v tools die.

u/lepfrog · 1 pointr/Tools

I just came here to post a link to your video after watching it, love your stuff, you have the best tool reviews on youtube. i must say the usb build right into the battery is a great idea as back up usb batteries can cost $20-$30 for a decent one. for just a bit more you can get a power tool as well. even buying one of these usb powersources for 18v batteries costs $30+.

u/ustutt · 1 pointr/electronic_cigarette

Because it's safe and convenient. This whole anti-USB charging brigade is a bit over the top man, for most, if not all, single 18650 mods it's literally no problem because there is no balancing required. It's with the dual or more batteries you run into problems.

OP sorry to see your problem. You can grab a simple single 18650 charger like the XTAR MC1 to charge those batteries externally, it works great.

If you really want to leave it on for extended periods, you may want to look into a simple battery eliminator like this. This will allow you to plug in your sign and leave it on for as long as you'd like.

Edit: Looking closer at your picture I noticed that you need a 3 volt battery adapter, instead of the 4.5 volt adapter I initially linked. I had a bit of trouble finding a 3 volt version in AAA but here is one example. Sorry it's a bit pricey, I would think if you searched a bit more you could find a better deal on a 3 volt AAA battery eliminator.

If you use something like this : https://www.amazon.com/Everlasting-Glow-93976-Convertor-Christmas/dp/B076MZQ42P/ref=pd_bxgy_23_2/143-0164372-5830675?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B076MZQ42P&pd_rd_r=de79e105-3010-11e9-9f4b-9fb10f44f45c&pd_rd_w=gy2ee&pd_rd_wg=I99Qz&pf_rd_p=6725dbd6-9917-451d-beba-16af7874e407&pf_rd_r=TP78SMKT9EBY1Q50Y7JA&psc=1&refRID=TP78SMKT9EBY1Q50Y7JA, then you can plug motion sensor into an smart switch. Then, when you get into bed, you can use a smart button to turn the smart switch off. Also, you can then ask Alexa to turn the switch off/on as well. Various options can be found on this website: https://www.batteryeliminatorstore.com/index.php . You might be able to find AA battery eliminators on Amazon as well.

For safety and a cleaner more accurate strip and cut.

Which type of knife? Serrated? Video of this technique?

It is a good tool to have around if you have tools and are handy. Another great tool to have around is a Battery Tester.

DEWALT DCB609-2 20V/60V MAX FLEXVOLT 9Ah Battery, 2 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WP6GJ4M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_iKI0CbPQVQZG6

Just a quick skim on Amazon and the 60v (as shown in the clip)... around 100usd for the 6ah, 200 for the 9ah and for whatever reason the 12ah is going for the same price as well. Just the battery, no charger.

I did get a few 18-20v adapters not too long ago and I'm super impressed what a new battery can do for the older tools. Not the most ergonomic, but def extends the life of the tool.

If they are making bikes that accept tool batteries, I hope there is one that takes the Dewalt Flexvolt 20-120 volt 9ah batteries.

I am nit sure if this charger does Aa and aaa, but bunch of eneloop batteries (best batteries you can get) and a charger is one of best investments I made, and I got it as my first purchase trough prime now app same day delivery to get $20 off first purchase of $50 bucks, so I got 16 Aa 14 aaa couple of converters and a smart charger for like 30 bucks.these and couple extra packs of batteries

Edit it does charge both aaa and aa and it's 2 individual chanels which is great for this price, as far as getting more batteries eneloop are best and Amazon branded ones are basically eneloop last gen rebranded which you can find on sale.

I've something similar to this (but not this... can't find what I used) to power PAs for wedding ceremonies and parade floats.

So they do, though it is $350. I'm imagining just how useful that could be though, you could take the thing camping or out on a picnic or out on the deck even. An extension cord is certainly cheaper though, I will admit. And while portable, it would be like 30lb with batteries.

Yeah, like, WTF OP? They're not even expensive and don't risk you electricuting yourself.
