So, here's the kit I bought.

The control box is around the size of a deck of cards. I stashed mine near the battery under my seat. Each LED strip has an attached wire, each pair has a different length. Connectors on everything, no soldering required.

The control box has 2 leads to connect to your battery, + is fused. I recommend installing a disconnect toggle somewhere, because there IS parasitic drain, and it WILL kill your battery over the winter. (Ask me how I know...)

It comes with a keyfob that lets you turn it on/off, change color, and change flash/pulse patterns. Really cool stuff.

I've had my bike apart for a dozen reasons, so I already had an idea about what made for good wiring paths, but in general, follow whatever is already there. Zip-ties (tweezers, lol) are your friend. Just piggyback with the stock wiring and you can be pretty sure that you're not going to run into clearance issues.

I'm pretty sure I took photos during the install, I'll try to track them down for you!

All I needed to do after converting my battery voltage to 12 volts was wire up a few switches and a blinker relay. Here is the tail light and blinker relay

Get a hardwired alarm instead. Amazon do them for about £20. They're easily worth 100.

EDIT: I got this one last year and it hasn't let me down .

u/Kanilas · 5 pointsr/klr650

I went with this for the front fender, which really helped to cut down wind pull (and just looks cooler, honestly.)

These are the front turn signals that I traded out, still plenty visible, but not huge like the stock ones.

Add these lights to the front fairing for a whole lot of extra visibility, both at night and for daytime rides too. Easy to wire up, and just takes two holes. Make sure you get the spot beam, not the flood.

I've got this bash plate + crash bar combination on mine now, it's already stood up to one test on a dirt road.

Here's a picture of mine as it stands now. (and a detail shot) Apologies for the garage picture, and dirty bike.

Took /u/Agammamon 's advice and decided to keep the rounds on instead of swapping to the bug eyes. The LED lights came from Amazon and are crazy bright. Took about 30 mins to swap both.

Great recommendation.

First of all, congratulations -- love it in red.

I had an Yamaha MT-125 until very recently, it's a brother bike to yours, so same dimensions basically.
I bought a JDC waterproof cover (not sure if Rain or Ultimate Rain though) -- very decent and sturdy, definitely waterproof and has holes either end to loop a chain/disk lock through.

I got a Givi phone mount, on the more expensive side, but definitely not flimsy, overall quality is what you pay for here. The only somewhat annoying thing to mention is that to get it absolutely waterproof, they include a kind of an additional sheath you have to slide over the holder when it's really pissing it down -- normally it'll probably be water-resistant. But hey ho, should have no issue carrying it around with you.

I used a pretty cheapy alarm from these guys, but on a lower sensitivity setting it does the job really well.

As far as brightness, they're wayyy better than stock. Even with the tint over them, you can literally light up the entire road and then some. I had to aim them completely to the ground to prevent blinding everyone. So far I've never been bright lighted, so I assume I've fixed the over brightness issues.

Is the frame steel? I use a breaker bar to put about 100 ft-lbs on the lockring on my aluminum MTB's and they don't come undone.

That looks like it will be an insanely fun bike, please upgrade the brakes as fast as you can. I also recommend bright lights on every e-bike. I've been receiving much more respect since mounting two of these. They work day and night to disrupt some drivers' dangerous maneuvering. And the good drivers seem to appreciate the match of speed with lighting.

I went with these on the rear when i did the fender eliminator install. I like them. They are smaller and shorter than the stock. They are led and i feel like they are brighter. If you switch to led youll have to replace your blinker relay. I went with the tst led blinker relay, works well even with a mix of led and incandescent blinkers (like i have). I used to bump/hit the stock rear blinkers all the time, its no longer a problem. Enjoy the bike, i love mine ;)

These are the lights I choose.Lights the install is simple the real issue trying to hide them and also prevent them from getting burned by headers and or engine. I also discount the lights cord so they dont randomly eat power from my battery only cut it on if I am riding at night

what i listed is just one of a few instances on their website doing the same thing. using "chinesium" as a reason to buy more expensive led lights doesnt hold up. i can understand and even support the idea of using american made parts vs import but in this case neither is american made.

these are even worse, being sold for 8x the price of other places

victory only led wrap lights, $80

amazon same item, $12

u/bilged · 1 pointr/HondaCB

I bought aftermarket because the rubber arms on the OEMs had rotted.

I actually didn't get LEDs as I couldn't find any that looked close enough to stock. In the end I got these and these. The second link is for the dual filament model so you can keep the running lights like stock.

It looks like Amazon is out of stock for those particular ones but the manufacturer is definitely still making them.

u/attacklibrarian · 1 pointr/Dualsport

When I set the blinker to left, they all blink. When I set the blinker to right, they all blink. Basically, once i turn the blinkers on any direction they just all blink. At a normal rate. I just ordered a diode kit thinking that might solve the issue? https://www.amazon.com/Kuryakyn-4709-Diode-Kit/dp/B000TK7XMY/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

u/I_Was_Mistaken · 1 pointr/motorcycles

Yes,
Two issues.
1.you need a digital flasher. I use these. AUDEW 2-Pin Electronic Turn Signal Flasher Relay Fix Motorcycle Turn Signal Hyper Flash https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011BTMDQM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_i_O4o4AbK3MZFNH
2.most Japanese MC’c back feed the dash indicator ( TS) from the signals themselves. The guaranteed and easy fix ( without all the resistors and janky wiring is to use one of these. Kuryakyn 4709 Diode Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000TK7XMY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_i_s7o4AbN8C7F71
Then get into your headlight bucket or under the dash. Find the turn signal wires and the indicator socket. Pull out the indicator bulb holder and cut the two wires going to it. Wire up the Diode. 1 red wire connects to each right and left positive wires. The blue wire goes to the center conductor ( wire you cut ) of the indicator bulb. The black wire connects to the other wire of the indicator bulb. The black wire goes to ground - any ground wire. The left over wire ( you cut ) from the original Indicator wire just gets taped / shrink wrapped over as it is no longer used.
This will fix everyone’s “LED lights don’t work, don’t flash, stay on” problems as long as the original lights worked. This is your fix. If you ever change back to stock. It still works with no changes. This works on every Japanese bike that doesn’t work correctly with LEDS. Some bikes you can get away with changing the indicator bulb for an LED as an led bulb is a diode, but this solution only works if they didn’t backfeed the Indicator light across the negative terminal ( outer side ) of the bulb.

Twelve bucks. Pick up a switch and fuseholder for another ~5 each. Just wire it in where the battery meets your controller. The voltage stepdown is built in so you don't have to think about it, and it's... really goddamned bright. I fashioned a different mount for mine because the included one is flimsy. There are two threaded holes in the body so you can get creative.

u/Vulcan9012 · 1 pointr/motorcycles

I wouldn't be concerned about getting flush indicators. I would be leery of doing anything that would decrease visibility. You can find some lower profile stalks that will stick out less, but still let you be seen by other drivers.

A word of caution tho, if you're looking to go LED for your signals as I have, while you get a much brighter light, on an older bike it's likely you won't be drawing enough current to activate the relay that makes it flash. This is what happens when a turn signal is burned out and why you get that fast flashing, which is what you will have if you don't get an aftermarket relay or some decent resistors to help.

Another thing you could do, which is what I did, is I rewired my stock turn signals to my brake light as well as installed led turn signals. What this did was allowed it to draw enough current to keep it from giving me the fast flash, as well as giving a dull flash in my tail light. AFAIK it's legal to have a flashing/pulsing/strobing brake light since they sell kits for it. I put the bulbs in the same spot as the brake light bulbs, but I used a few strips of red SMD 5050 in my brake light housing and they're much brighter than stock.

Edit: added link for the type of turn signals.

My bike used to be someone's summertime daytime bike. I need a winter-ready bike by... winter (PNW). As such:

  1. It's got a cheap piece of shit plastic headlight with a 35/35 bulb that's about as bright as a fart in the dark. Can't go brighter or it'll melt (new Unmeltium unit arrived the other day. Metal and glass baby, yeah).

  2. The front turn signals are integrated into the cheap piece of shit plastic headlight, i.e. are inside it. See above. (New signals have been stuck at a UPS hub for a few days.)

  3. The rear fender delete was done alright, but it's kinda dopey and once the rain comes anything inside my seat trunk is getting hosed. (Temporary solution, a watertight sandwich box! It fits perfectly! Can't stuff my wiring into it, though.)

  4. There's no license plate light. My morning commute is in the dark. (New one arrived, gonna stuff it on soon.)(That's also what I'm gonna tell whoever nabs me.)

  5. No front fender extender yet to keep the front spark plug well from filling up with water and shit and whales and halving my SEE SEES

  6. The Puig windscreen is a dark tint, which is fine, but it's also kinda cheap and tucking behind it on the freeway makes everything look like an Edvard Munch painting.

It used to be a Pointy, but now it's a Stubby. As such:

  7. There's a ton of front end wiring that's just hanging out behind the headlight. (Gonna address that with the headlight swap.)

  8. The original gauges were replaced with a Trailtech Vapor unit, which does everything but fuel level (this one does do coolant temp, which is rad) and is actually pretty neat. But the backlight is downright oppressive in the dark and stays lit for 10 mins after you leave the bike. In the dark. It may as well shout at people as they walk by. (I don't think there's anything I can do about this. Hate that bit.)

  9. The clutch cable is too short and disengages the clutch at either steering lock. It freaked me out until I figured out what was going on. (I'm going to replace the presumably shorter Pointy cable and housing with a hopefully-slightly-longer Stubby one. Gotta do some more re-sarch before I pull the trigger.)

  10. All in all, it needs more than I can afford right now, which I guess keeps me thoughtful about its needs vs its "needs."

u/hoyter · 1 pointr/motorcycles

What is the benefit of this over a normal flasher such as this. It seems redundant to have an additional separate brake light.

Regardless, Its always better to be seen. Stay Safe!
