Alright. Here's the deal.

https://imgur.com/a/fLPcC

Point 1: This is an old AT DIN keyboard connector. It is physically compatible with PS/2 keyboards. You can get adapters to connect to any PS/2 keyboard. You could also connect to some sort of active USB to PS/2 converter, but it's much, much easier to just find an old PS/2 keyboard.

I mean, you could find a really old AT keyboard with the right plug on it and use that, but it's much easier to just get a PS/2 keyboard.

Point 2: This is a PS/2 port. Use a PS/2 mouse or one of those little green USB to PS/2 mouse adapters.
You cannot plug a keyboard into this.

The 25 pin connector should not be touched. It's likely serial (just from its position beside a PS/2 connector), which technically could be used for a mouse, but you have a PS/2 connector, so why would you? It also may be parallel, too. in any case, you have PS/2. Don't touch it.

TBH, that is a very tough cable to find. In fact other than your link I couldn't find one anywhere, even on some sites that sell strictly MKB stuff. The Mimic cable actually looks to be pretty high quality so the pricing is the only reason I could see not to go with it. If you want a cheaper solution maybe get a ps/2 male to ps/2 female cable like this. That way at least it won't be sticking way out from your mobo's ps/2 input & putting that extra stress on it. Although it would give you alot more cable to manage unless you can find a really short one.

If you're going to spend money on a KVM but don't want to worry about a local console, consider KVM over IP units - they're a much better investment, if you can make it. The [Raritan Dominion DLX-108](http://www.amazon.com/Dominion-DLX-108-Digital-KVM-Switch/dp/B00684MDD4/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1377475255&sr=1-7&keywords=raritan+dominion+LX
) is my favorite in this area for cost and performance.

Of course, any KVM needs cables, and you'd want either the MCUTP20-USB (6') or MCUTP40-USB (13.5') for access if you want to use USB ports, and MCUTP20-PS2 or MCUTP40-PS2 if you want the same in PS/2 ports instead. If you add a regular D2CIM-DVUSB, it will give you the ability to mount ISO files remotely as if they were local. If you need DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort, you would need to add one of the following part #s: D2CIM-DVUSB-DVI, D2CIM-DVUSB-HDMI, or D2CIM-DVUSB-DP.

Considering you might expand in the future, it's easy to do without needing to upgrade your KVM unit in the future if you go this route. Also, being able to get to your KVM from anywhere on the network, including over VPN, can be very helpful and worth the extra few dollars.

Repurposing an old nordic track - brilliant!

I bought the same setup when it was brand new (2009 - lol), 100 bucks is an amazing deal. I still have that wheel as a backup, and I'm still using the same pedals with a few minor mods.

Also you can use a ps/2 cable for the shifter. I would go to a thrift store and see if you can find old cables like that first, or a computer store that carries used stuff. Worst case, 5 bucks on Amazon.

Have you gotten Rocket League yet? The graphics card I picked out comes with PC version if you buy it from New Egg (it's out of stock right now, though :/). Also, how old are your keyboard and mouse? If they are pretty old you are going to need a dongle like this one to make it work with the motherboard. I included an optical drive, but if you aren't planning to use a disk for the game, you won't need it. I didn't include a wired xbox one controller because I assumed that you had a wireless one that you use with your xbox and could use it for your pc by following these directions. I included a bunch of headsets and made all their prices 0$ so you will need to add the price of the one you pick to your final amount... but it's under budget!

This keyboard is using PS2, and you would need a PS2 to USB converter. That being said, the best luck comes from an "active" converter, which you can find on Amazon

u/LinuxPoodle · 2 pointsr/piano

not only does it need the same plug, but also the same pinout and protocol.

this counts as proprietary hardware so nothing is guaranteed.

Might have found something here:

http://diykeyboard.wikidot.com/yamaha-triple-pedal-connector

They suggest you keep the sustain pedal you already have, and add simple on-off switches for the other ones. It's about $5 each for the switch, then you only need a cable with correct plug, and connect the wires to the switches.

As a DIY project it seems possible to do this under $20.

floor switch - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E0ZAMM6/

PS/2 extension cable - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007TZCTEE/ (this I'm not sure of... PS/2 mouse actually only used 4 of the 6 pins, I think, so cables might not actually be fully equipped for 6-pin use)

everthing else is up to your soldering skills

u/OSUaeronerd · 2 pointsr/EliteDangerous

I also have this joystick... connector looks like a 6 pin mini DIN cable.

if you've got amazon prime as a student: you can have it tomorrow.

Omnikey 102 owner here.
Uses an AT port, easy to convert to ps/2.
No Windows key because of it being an early model. Mine is a later model hence it has a Windows key
Probs uses white or blue alps.
I suggest after getting a competend AT to ps/2 converter you ought to get a competent ps/2 to usb converter if you're looking to use it on a newer machine. Nice score though! If you need any other help let me know.

You're going to need a 5 pin DIN to PS/2 adapter, a PS/2 keyboard and a serial to ps/2 adapter with a PS/2 mouse.

Looks like you have a CD drive so you'll probably want to install a very light weight linux like Tiny Core Linux

u/mwes8945 · 2 pointsr/Workspaces

Its the best keyboard ever made. The feel of the keys is amazing and can't be replicated by any modern keyboard. Literally, because IBM patented the design then stopped making keyboards. You'll also need a PS2 to USB adapter kinda like this: https://www.amazon.com/HENGSHENG-Adapter-Keyboard-Mouse-Converter/dp/B016BE8BGI/ref=sr_1_18?crid=2PED5VKBK5LN6&keywords=ps2+to+usb+adapter&qid=1558702408&s=gateway&sprefix=ps2+to%2Caps%2C167&sr=8-18

Here is the VIRPIL adapter kit I was looking at.

Here is the MFG option.

Here is the DIY option I found using the Gardena hose adapter and PS2 extension cable.

I got something like this so I can use both keyboard and Trackball with a Single USB

u/AJoyce86 · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

That could be part of the issue. If it's a modern motherboard, sometimes it doesn't output power back to the keyboard in the same way as ones made in the 90s.

I'd say grab a cheap adapter like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZL12DOY/

It may work and, even if it doesn't, you won't be out a significant amount of money.

Active PS/2 to USB adapter for $7

> they use a lot of power,

It's a negligible difference. It's not like using a Model M on your laptop is going to drain the battery quickly.

u/coconut4808 · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Thanks! Do you think i could use a PS/2 extension cable? Im thinking about cutting it and soldering it to the chip but i dont know if that kind of thing can work...
I've found this one https://www.amazon.com/C2G-Cables-Go-02692-Keyboard/dp/B00005118F

Your dad's a thoroughly nice dude. :)

Apologies that I couldn't find the connecting cable - try https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-6-Feet-MDIN-6-Cable-100092/dp/B001TKQOTG

u/ksymeon · 1 pointr/computers

You will need one of these 5-PIN DIN male to PS2 female https://www.amazon.com/DIN-Male-DIN-Female-Keyboard-Adapter-KB-ATM-PS2F-6I/dp/B001P73TE6 and a ps2 keyboard.

u/segfaultxr7 · 1 pointr/Klipsch

That's an extremely common problem, the wires break internally near the plug. The more you push and twist to restore the connection, the worse it'll get.

Fortunately it's pretty easy to fix. I chopped off the plug plus a few inches of cable, then did the same to a PS/2 mouse cable and spliced all the wires together. Works like a charm.

u/normalaxe · 1 pointr/Multicopter

Left looks like a mini-din6 or PS2 keyboard/mouse right is a din4 S-video cable. amazon link this might work for you? neat additional info
