You do know that vent covers are like $20 and would easily fix your problem?

I think you have a great relationship with her actually! She clearly trusts you and loves you - running to you, nudging, LICKING are all significant signs of bunny trust and love.

However bunnies are hyper and energetic and they don't usually sit around for a long time cuddling. It's normal for them to run up and demand pets from you, then go run around then come again and so on... They like to be pet and cuddled by only on their terms and when they want it.

See here - http://language.rabbitspeak.com/ - a cool site on bunny body language.

I also think your bunny is hormonal - humping and chewing are 100% hormonal. She hit puberty and her hormones are driving a lot of her behaviors now - like being more skittish, chewing and humping. You absolutely have to get her spayed - it is key for building a stronger trust bond with her, not chewing, her overall happiness and health. It's an absolute must. Please talk to you parents about having it done.

Why spaying is essential:

The thing with girls is that if not spayed their chance of developing uterine cancer is really high as that makes spaying not even optional in my opinion. The risk of cancer is very high and that is a terrible way for a bunny to die and at that time the risk of surgery becomes soooo much greater due to poor health.... I have seen it at our rescue! Do not hesitate! It is worth the risk and the cost!

" Unspayed female rabbits have a very high risk of uterine cancer. Our vets commonly see uterine changes and tumors in unspayed rabbits as young as eighteen months. As the bunny ages, her risk increases, and our experienced rabbit vets report that many, if not most, rabbits older than about four years who are brought in for spaying reveal uterine changes and/or tumors. A rabbit's reproductive system is evolved for constant reproduction over a relatively short lifespan. When reproduction is thwarted, but the uterus is left intact, the system can go a little haywire. It's not unexpected. " http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/spay.html

Having said this, picking a GOOD rabbit savvy vet is really key here. I would do this and have a consult.

One of the best ways to find a great vet is through you local rabbit rescues. Try to google your local rabbit rescues, see what the closest House Rabbit Society chapter is. Dedicated rabbit rescues do a lot of spays and neuters (they never leave the buns unfixed) so they can always recommend a good and well priced vet. Often you can find this info right on their websites (look in different sections there) but if not an email with a question will get you a response.

Also here you can also find a list of rabbit savvy vets by state to cross reference the info:

http://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Category:United_States (also lists rescues and low cost clinics to look into to)

https://www.chewy.com/petcentral/directory-of-veterinarians-for-exotic-small-mammals

In particular for a spay this page also has great questions to ask the vet/clinic as you research - http://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Spaying_and_neutering_rabbits

For you baseboards a few suggestions:

  1. you can try a spray in this video (it will not stain) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_QNPkPbqDk
  2. you can also try this tape (but be very careful to be sure they do not chew it!) - I think it doesn't ruin paint, but try in one hidden spot to test.
  3. You can also get some white colorplast, cut to size and attache along the baseboards with some command strips that do not damage pain and come of cleanly.
  4. You can also use NIC storage cube grids to tie together with zip-ties and make a sort of barrier to place along the baseboards. This would work better for a room and particular spot, for a whole house I think colorplast strips are more elegant solution.
  5. The last and most important point - bunnies are smart and they need toys to entertain them and stay out of trouble. In the absence of good things to chew they will chew the other things - chewing and digging is their natural instinct, so the solution is not to stop them, but to provide alternatives specifically meant for them to chew and dig and to reinforce them using it. Bunnies are very food-motivated so you can use food to train them to do what you want them to do. :)

    1. You have a lot of toys. But the most important thing is reinforcing and redirecting. Bunnies do really understand positive reinforcement and build positive associations when you redirect bad behavior and reward good behavior. So you have to actively and diligently train the bunny overtime not to chew and dig the wrong things. Anytime you see digging or chewing, immediately try to offer a toy or some alternative instead and reward with a small treat when it works. This does need to be done very diligently each time you see him do things like that.

Chew toys specifically - there are what you need to get to offer as alternatives to them chewing furniture and baseboards

  6. Willow and hay balls are great - good quality ones here https://shop.smallpetselect.com/collections/natural-toys-and-chews-for-rabbits
  7. They also have these logs where you can hide treats and pellets for fun - the bun would love to chew those I think and they last too. :)
  8. Great quality toys that are super fragrant and yummy to chew here https://www.farmerdavepetsupply.com/toys
  9. And thicker good chew sticks here https://www.farmerdavepetsupply.com/chew-sticks

I installed these stainless steel mesh gutter covers on my house a couple of years ago for a fraction of what I was quoted to do similar systems by pros. It took about 4 hours to do my whole house.

I went from having to clean my gutters about 5 times a year (or rather NOT cleaning them when they needed it, and my gutters overflowing), to not cleaning them since installing these covers.

In my opinion the LeafGuard gutters are neither very effective, economical, or very honest. I visited a booth at a home show and asked how much per foot, and they insisted there was no way to quote it that way, that it's more "complex" than that. So I said "ok, how much for 200 linear feet in three sections with 5 downspouts" and they refused to even ballpark a figure, or even say if it was "more than $10,000 or less than $10,000"...they're not going to quote you a number without a home visit where they can estimate how much you can afford, and put on the hard sell.

Just as a note to the gutter thing: I got gutter guards. Those screens you put on top. SOOOOOO CLUTCH. no big leaves and stuff. You still have to take a look at your gutters everynow and then, but much much much less.

u/AbsolutelyPink · 5 pointsr/HomeImprovement

Unfortunately, from all the threads I've read on here about gutter guards, none of them really work all that great and you'll end up cleaning them anyway. That being said, people are always trying to reinvent the wheel. I'd go check out neighbors houses and see if anyone else is using them then talk to them about how well they work.

These look promising. Lots of Q&A and people seem pleased as these are a copy from a more expensive item https://www.amazon.com/LeafsOut-Gutter-Install-yourself-Protection/dp/B004IG3IOC

In addition, I saw a post somewhere on Reddit, where a guy used pvc to extend his leaf blower putting an ell on the end and blew out his gutters from the ground.

I've tried three or four different styles, and for me the micro-mesh requires the least maintenance:

I hose it off with a garden hose each fall, and other than that, it's mostly out-of-mind for the rest of the year.

Just drill circles and put round vents. Don’t over complicate things.. 4 holes and pop these in. I added glued in fruit fly screen for my frog tanks. They also make them with just screen.

I used butyl tape on my Pontiac Vibe and it worked really well for soundproofing (two layers on the doors, one layer in the hatch area). Similar to this but the stuff I bought at home depot was about 2 feet wide instead of 4 inches. A lot of automotive sound deadening stuff is basically this stuff with a markup. It's flexible and sticks pretty well, but you might want to use additional spray adhesive if you're doing your ceiling. It looks like you already have soundproofing material on your floor?

For my project, I plan on putting butyl tape on the metal, then foam board on top, then plywood. Haven't decided yet between EPS or XPS foam board (EPS is vapor permeable and XPS is not) but they're both moisture resistant with the tradeoff of lower R-value over other options, like fiberglass batting (degrades with moisture) or polyisocyanurate (useless under 50F)

I definitely recommend covers as well. I've had plenty of rainy stuffy days where I couldn't open a window and was glad to have vent covers. Raises your roof line a bit though(broke one on a tree once). Really easy to install a replacement if it happens. Only cost about $20 each and don't require any sealing, they hover just above the roof.

I use waterproof tape. There was a skylight in this house when we moved in.... and well, this tape came i really, really handy.

Use oil or Vaseline on your scissors to cut it, and use small pieces at a time to avoid it sticking to itself, because you can't unstick it.

u/xrandx · 2 pointsr/GoRVing

My only recommendation at this point would be to get some of these.

u/WageSlaveEscapist · 2 pointsr/vandwellers

Meh, it should work. You may need to seal the door with fireproof rope and stove cement. I got some at a local stove store when my cubic mini started leaking. It was quite noticeable, the smell, and my co detector noticed too. As another commenter mentioned, having a cracked window is essential to allow draft to evacuate smoke. If you can find it, double wall pipe is way way safer and more functional. It says Pipe Diameter: 3.375", so maybe double wall pipe from the dickinson or cubic mini would work.

Otherwise, I'd recommend putting some chicken wire around the stove pipe, and also make a wire cage all around the stove, because it's impossible to completely avoid clothes/bedding falling on the stove in such a small space, while you're asleep. It's happened to others, and it's one of the reasons I use my china diesel heater while I'm sleeping.

TBH, it's kind of a pain trying to stay warm for 8 hours overnight with a wood stove, while maintaining fresh air. Your stove might be up to the task, but mine is too small (cubic mini cub) so I used to wake up cold af, no matter how low I'd turn it down.

Smoke getting in the van isn't an issue for me, long as you close your fan and crack a window. A propane torch helps to start it up, and those waxy logs from winco/walmart are great for starting a fire with little smoke. Coal produces very little smoke, but a lot of CO and it produces less draft which can make the CO waft in your van if it's not burning strong, with the intake wide open.

To get around clearance requirements in a small space, construct a radiant barrier of two pieces of aluminum/steel sheet, with stacked washers/nuts/etc as spacers, to create an air gap in between the plates. I did this with my stove and the bottom plate under my stove was cold with it running.

For the roof, use a Dektite #3 red hitemp fitting, with some hitemp caulk from ace, and bolt the fitting to the roof before the caulk dries. Leak proof for over a year for me.

My favorite pool solution, especially for small spaces, is a 6" tall deli cup surrounded by craft mesh or plastic gutter guard (like this https://www.amazon.com/Frost-VX620-Plastic-Gutter-Guard/dp/B000LNNS3W).

Here's my current fresh water pool: https://imgur.com/FOM4wMe Tiny zip ties were used to attach the gutter guard to itself.

The crabs love it, can fully submerge, climb all around, and it takes up a tiny amount of room!

I was thinking about this one:

Rand Solar Powered Attic Fan-8 Watt-W Rooftop https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M0NI4PS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-YDdzbWVE712K

u/09Klr650 · 1 pointr/electrical

Why not just buy a solar powered car window fan and take it apart? As long as you keep all the wiring labeled no worries. Or if you need more airflow than that there are premanufactured solar powered roof ventilators.

Yeah to make the foundation wall waterproof right? But asphalt emulsion does that too with a watertight seal, what is the insultation advantage over the emulsion? I'm talking like https://www.amazon.com/Black-Jack-6190-Foundation-5-Gallon/dp/B000BZ47B2

u/Qlanger · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

Have you been in the attic to see where its coming from?

Might be from a roof vent that is leaking. Most will last about the life of the roof but could have been damaged during install, squirrels, etc...

Those are most likely just vent covers. You can do something like this:
Amazon

I guess this is a complete cheap setup as well
Or if you are DIY handy, you can grab a powerful PC fan, wire it up, get a cover if you need to keep rain out, and install the whole thing yourself

u/Jarvicious · 1 pointr/diypedals

I'm sure it may depend on what grade of AL is in use, but flashing is dirt cheap. 20 inches by 10 feet. Etch until you're blue in the face.

u/COSurvivalist · 1 pointr/greenhouse

I added one of these - https://smile.amazon.com/Solar-Powered-Attic-Watt-W-Ventilator/dp/B00M0NI4PS/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=solar+powered+attic+fan&qid=1554429795&s=gateway&sr=8-3 to my greenhouse.

At 86 degrees F, it kicks on and really does well to pull the hot air out and pull the outside air through side vents.

Cheap enough and runs itself once installed.

u/lapislesbian · 1 pointr/vandwellers

Thanks! I'm reading this second paragraph over and over and still kinda scratching my head. I would love to learn electrical I just am struggling. My thought is to get the trailer livable (meaning walls/floor/ceiling/insulation/windows) first and then as I see what it's like to live in it and potentially save up more money I'll slowly continue the build (storage/furniture/luxury stuff/electrical?).

I'm open to solar but the setups I see here are always so complicated and overpowered for what I'd need. What I meant is that something simple like this probably won't work because it doesn't have a battery so it only runs when the sun is out and honestly just seems pretty cheap and shitty in general. My fear on doing my own solar setup is that I would end up spending way more then predicted buying things I struggle to understand that would be heavy and take up a lot of space and possibly be noisy.

My mindset is pretty open to anything if I can understand it and afford it. I am trying to find guides and resources that are more suited my my minimalist needs (heat, ventilation) if you know of any sites/forums/videos/etc. that may be useful I'd love to know. Another challenge is that most of what I see is geared towards vehicles.
