Yo, check out these recipes and stuff, it's the info i gathered for someone who wanted to go vegan but can't use an oven or stove. Definitely accessible cooking for a dorm room.

---------------------------------------------------

Microwave mug recipes via PETA. Desserts and full meals.

Dorm room style recipes. Includes breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks.

Short list of microwave recipes

Yummly microwave vegan recipe database. Can sort by the amount of time you want to spend cooking, low end is 15 min.

Raw blender soup recipes.. The raw part is unimportant but searching for "raw" recipes will help you avoid anything needing stove or oven time. You can always heat soups in the microwave, but anything called "gazpacho" should be eaten cold.

Sandwich recipes from PETA.. Some require stove or oven, but the pictures with each link will help you choose ones that can be made without stove/oven.

100 sandwich recipes, some have pictures.. Things that are "grilled" or called "melts" might be possible with just toasting the bread and heating the ingredients. Anything called "baked", "roasted", or "sauteed" would probably need a stovetop.

Toaster bags for a "grilled" sandwich without the stove

Silicone food steamer for microwave I have one of these and they work well if you don't overload them.

Super smooth microwave hummus

How to make pasta in the microwave

How to make rice in the microwave

Also be sure to take a vegan mulitvitamin, or a B12 supplement at minimum. Vitamin deficiency anemia, via Mayo Clinic

Good luck!

Poke some holes in a gladware tall entree container. I use these corn cob holders I have to poke the holes. You're just looking for very tiny holes to let the gas vent as the yeast does its magic but not allow so much to get out that it could dry it out. Do a quick spray in the whole thing with Pam, put your dough ball in there, snap the lid shut and let it go.

I made this pizza just the other day with dough that had been in my fridge for four days. Four days before that I had made one with the dough doing two room-temperature rises. For what it's worth, my wife and I can't tell a difference in the taste between cold fermented and not. But I like to make multiple batches when I'm doing dough so we can enjoy a couple of pizzas during the week, so I developed this technique.

It works like a charm. Only problem I've ever had is letting it go too long and if it pops the top off it will dry out. But since I switched to the tall entree ones, I haven't had that problem.

You mean like this?

Our baker was a local lady who wanted to try the marble effect! So I trusted her with it, and it came out amazing! We didn't have wedding colors either, so it was a grey/white marble with gold flakes, put on top of a gold cake stand. I loved the way it looked.

If you'd like to see my actual wedding cake, shoot me a message! My photographer has it on her blog, but she made it so I can't copy the link of the photo.

Just bought the EZ Pockets™ set of pie pans and I've got all sorts of great ideas to use it on (the included recipe booklet is pretty unimaginative). So far I've just made some bomb-ass pizza pockets, but I'm planning to experiment with different kinds of dough (pita, naan, pie, biscuit, etc) to really use these to their full potential.

Personally, for a French knife, I've been using the 10" Victorinox with a rosewood handle (http://www.amazon.com/Victorinox-Stainless-Steel-Rosewood-Handle/dp/B000MDB4LO). While I really like it (it's light, holds an edge well, comfortable to handle), it can be a little unwieldy if you're working in tight quarters. I'm thinking of getting a 7 or 8" French or Santoku for when I have a smaller work area.

Are you putting it on the griddle/pan as a complete sandwich? If so, stop. Put one piece of bread down with the cheese and then cover your pan with a lid or the sandwich with a cheese melter dome (yes they actually make such a thing) - the cover will melt the cheese. Then, add the top right before you’d normally flip it. Cheese is melted.

Another tactic if it’s thick, hard or dense cheese- big chunks of cheddar, parmesan... use oven-acceptable frying pan, and about half way through your cooking on the first side, without the second piece of bread put on it, stick it under the broiler in your over for a minute or two (watch it for the melt), then pull it out, stack it and flip it. (Also seen a torch used to warm the cheese.).

On any of these- keep the bread separate until you are ready to flip.

So I've been the only source of income for a while now for myself, my son, and my boyfriend. As much as I wanted to I won't be able to afford Christmas presents this year. Rather than something for myself, if chosen, I'd like to get a gift for someone else I wanted to originally. His parents always spend a big lump of money on me for Christmas every year and I just feel so bad not having even one thing to give in return. So,

these socks would be perfect for his mom, she LOVES wine

or this beer cozy for his dad, is hilarious and true

Thank you for the opportunity to gift someone this year. :)

You are awesome. Surviving crappy days just makes you more awesome.

We just went to the ice cream place. I got a small nonfat frozen yogurt. Stupid diet.

karma, quick!

To solve the spinning problem, I've found these to be the best. The screw makes it so that it won't rotate, and since they're plastic, it's safer for kids and you can't stab yourself. Maybe a unicorn with a corkscrew horn would work.

Yeah, I never really intended to use mine, either. My husband, meanwhile, has the opinion that if it's in the kitchen, it should be used for kitchen things. =_=

They're kinda like these, only made of clear plastic, because dishwasher safe is a requisite in my kitchen. ;)
