I removed the battery and put it in my backpack with my laptop. I flew Jetblue from Ft Lauderdale, Florida to Cancun, Mexico... no problems or questions. TA did an extra check on the battery, again no problem. I arrived in Cancun 2 days ago.

I have the atom gear bag and I love it. this one they also make one that has wheels. I do clip my helmet to the outside of the bag though so I have room for extra wheels, drill cones, and a few scrimmage shirts. Probably could hold the helmet if I didn’t fill it so full of junk. I really like the skates on the outside and it comes with a built in waterproof rain cover to pull over if it’s rainy.

I'm not so interested in a travel bag as much as a daily commute bag. This is so easy to avoid just check the weather before you go out, anything over 30% chance of rain should be obvious. Even if you do decide to go out then and you're worried about getting caught in a downpour then I suggest carrying one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0728926PT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 like I do, it's foldable so you can put it in a backpack and use it to carry your board if it rains.

Speaking very generally, generally, airlines require anything outside 22x14x9 be checked.
TSA has seen enough of them come through that at least one agent will know what it is and that it's allowed. Sometimes they open the bag and swab the board. Don't ask me why...
I've carried mine on with me many times using the case below. It's a great way to get out and see a new city. Burbank, CA was great on the BB. Washington DC was a mix of intolerant and bewildered by it.

My recommendation

Reasonably priced, gets the job done, and has straps to carry as a backpack or use em as handles to carry. It can fit the boosted board with room to spare fits my charger/helmet and everything you need to be on your way for some sweet riding time.

Most people tend to suggest this one here
But personally I prefer the rifle cases way more and will be getting this one as soon as I get my V2!

Are you looking for a travel bag (like this one) or a backpack?

I do not recommend the Boosted backpack. The process of getting your board secured/unsecured is remarkably fussy and it's rather difficult to get the back on/off your back once the board is on the backpack. The process of securing your helmet to the backpack is even worse. Additionally, the backpack does not distribute the weight of the board very well. I can't walk more than a mile without feeling incredible discomfort in my back. I haven't tried any other board-carrying backpacks, but I would definitely not purchase a Boosted backpack after having used it. The backpack is nowhere near worth what it costs.

I use the Boosted strap whenever I need to carry my board. It's light years better than the Boosted backpack, except all it carries is your board.

I strap this to the end of each side of the board and sling the strap over my shoulder with the board under my arm. Only $9 and can fit in your pocket when you’re riding around. It’s also much comfier to carry around for long periods of time.shoulder carrier strap

I know you asked for backpack, but just to give you another option. I use this one and it works well for me.

550 might cut you in half lugging this thing around. The climbing rope sling works well. One of my kids got me a commercial skateboard sling and it works really well too.

If you want a travel bag, this one is good.

I bought a Tuffy Bag about a year ago and was so disappointed in what I got for the price that I made my own to sell. It's basically just a slightly better version of that Tuffy Bag, but, unlike the Tuffy Bag, I think the price is fair ($59.99 vs $99.99). And it actually has a handle instead of just the cheap shoulder strap.
