I know everyone’s joking about r/popping but seriously some zits need to be lanced.

  1. Pierce top with a lancet.

  2. Squeeze junk out (preferably with the looped wire extractor).

  3. Apply salicylic acid (wipe with a Stridex pad).

  4. Apply a hydrocolloid bandage (Nexcare Acne Cover, or cut to size Dynarex Dressing).

I’ve always struggled with chapped and peeling lips. I’ve tried so many balms it’s ridiculous, and while Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask and Aquaphor keep my lips somewhat under control, there are times when it’s pretty clear that I just need to exfoliate.

Lip exfoliation hacks never worked for me though. Old toothbrushes and sugar scrubs were simultaneously too scratchy / abrasive and still not quite as effective as I’d hoped. I also didn’t like that sugar scrubs had to be repeatedly rebought or remade, and the old toothbrush thing grossed me out a tiny bit. So I’d been resorting to picking at my lips, which is obviously not ideal for lots of reasons.

But then I found silicone face pads! The bristles have just the right length and flexibility to slough off dead skin without damaging the skin underneath. I usually scrub my lips in the morning while still wearing lip balm from the night before and it’s perfect - they end up soft and smooth every time.

Silicone face pads will set you back about $5 if you buy them from Amazon or Sephora, but the $1 versions you can find at Daiso, Ebay, or Aliexpress work just as well.

(Image from this article, which discusses using these silicone scrub pads on your whole face - an approach that didn’t work well for me but others might enjoy)

Are you trying to squeeze them out with your fingernails? Because that will be pretty difficult. Either use a blackhead extractor or in a pinch, the curved end of a bobby-pin.

Too many people here from /r/all who don't know what a comedone extractor is.

u/crawld · 18 pointsr/WTF

They are only a few bucks at Wal-Mart.

You too can have one!

EDIT: Here is one for 6$ from Amazon

u/xtwistedxlovex · 18 pointsr/LifeProTips

I use something like this - not the pointed end, and never drag it across the skin - with good results. Just position the loop with the blackhead in the center and gently push toward the skin. If the head doesn't come out, don't force it.

u/[deleted] · 14 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I used to pop with my fingers, but sometimes would struggle to pop and bruise my skin around the cyst.

Got some hoop tools other week and been a firm convert. Pop so easily now.

Eg: https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Beauty/Simply-Gorgeous-Design-Blackhead-Remover-Comedone-Extractor/B006Z96OI2

I didn't get that exact one, but similar.

u/Ensvey · 12 pointsr/answers

That's all well and good, but how about something like this, which I recently bought (don't judge me)? 82 cents with free shipping, from hong kong to the eastern US... does not compute...

u/kuniklo · 10 pointsr/popping

You can pick up a blackhead extractor at Wal-Mart. It looks like this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017KCPU0

It will be cleaner and not as forceful as using fingers.

Clean your face thoroughly before and after popping.

Here's the info I've compiled over the years to deal with my stuffed up nose and sinuses:

If you have an infection (sinus or otherwise!) reduce dietary intake of sugars and simple starches (crackers, rice, potatoes, pasta, bread, cereal, etc). BACTERIA EAT SUGAR. Plus, starches dramatically depress the immune system for hours.

Avoid trans (bad) fats at all costs.

make it a high priority to eat abundant "good fats". Obtain some grass fed butter (and meat for that matter) for cooking if you can. Improves immunity immensely.

EAT MUSHROOMS for immune enhancement!

Brush your teeth WELL and frequently. Important to be aware that bacteria can travel from one cavity to another in your head. Dental, ear, and sinus ills may all be related! Mouth, throat, nasal passages, sinuses, and ears are all connected and can share germs.

Thorough oral rinse at rising, at bedtime, and after meals: 1/2 t salt to 8 oz warm water. Rinse, gargle, spit out until the cup is empty. Tip your head and work to get into all the "nooks and crannies".

Eco-Dent mouthwash is good as well. Pluse Dentek Easy Brush Interdental Cleaners and a [waterpik](http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_8?url=search-alias%3Dhpc&field-keywords=waterpik%20water%20flosser&sprefix=waterpik%2Chpc%2C240] .

Get more sleep.

Antibacterial herbs: thyme, myrrh, mints, basil, cloves

Steam:
Boil a pot of water on the stove and add aromatic oils (those listed above, and/or tea tree, eucalyptus, lemon, etc). Take the pot off the burner, throw a towel over your head and the pot and inhale the steam. Alternatively you can use a facial steamer . It has a contoured bowl that you put your face into, a heating element and a cup at the bottom of the bowl that boils a small amount of water to which you can add aromatic oils. Much less muss and fuss than the pot-and-towel method, and less risk of burning yourself. Costs about $20.

A wonderful oil blend for steaming is First Response by Aura Cacia. Contains tea tree, eucalyptus, lemon, sweet orange, lavendar, and sandalwood oils.

double to triple fluid intake: The "health nut" guideline for fluid intake is 1/2 ounce per pound of body weight per day. Good to drink this much every day, not just when you're sick.

Hot garlicky soup.

hot packs on face/sinuses (across bridge of nose) /head and on ear/s. This one is awesome:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00012QEFM/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's called the MediBeads Moist Heat Therapy Sinus Wrap

Garlic supplements to guard against your congestion turning into an infection. Garlic oil in the steamer, also.

Beyond all this, I take Zyrtec, Benedryl, Mucinex (sometimes) and a prescription called Singulair which works in a different way than antihistamines and decongestants to clear your nasal passages and sinuses. I also take a high quality omega 3 oil supplement to combat inflammation which is a major contributor to blocked sinuses/nasal passages. Tell your doctor the standard OTC go-to's aren't helping. Ask him whether Singulair might help you, and ask about an allergy workup.

Also, I realize I am late to the party, so nobody will ever read this. Have Nice Day if you did though.

u/Canoodlerstar · 8 pointsr/trypophobia

You know that tool that doctors use that has a small hole in the center? It has a handle, and the doctor takes it and pushes it into things like these, and sometimes large blackheads to get the dirt to surface more.

I use this comedone extractor kit, and the one I used is the one on the far right that has the pointy tip at the other end. Yes it helps the pop, it’s much easier and more comfortable than using my fingers.

u/1M8M · 8 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I used the Banish Acne Kit, it's $75. Since that is pretty expensive, I started looking for alternatives. I'm about to buy this Vitamin C serum that has been recommended many times in this sub and a derma roller, both from Amazon. Make sure you have a little tub or cup filled with rubbing alcohol to sanitize the roller before and after every use.

Pimple tweezers, similar to These. Very popular among Chinese poppers; I first saw them on Je’s channel, way back before she started using gloves. Dr Lee’s taken them for a test drive, too.

Versatile: tweezers, lancet, & extractor in one.

Many of the ones you’ll see in use have an eye on the other end for applying a clear “crystal jelly” to pops that are bloody. I’m guessing they do it for barrier purposes.

u/loveSnailMail · 6 pointsr/popping

u/KatieTheDinosaur · 6 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Hi friend! Something I would suggest for you:

There are single use, sterile diabetic lancets that are probably a better option for lancing; you can get 300 for $7, there may be even cheaper options.

https://smile.amazon.com/Care-Touch-Twist-Lancets-Gauge/dp/B01GGGS8XW/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1542822301&sr=8-4&keywords=diabetic+lancets

You can also get a pretty nice set of tools for under $10:

https://smile.amazon.com/BESTOPE-Blackhead-Remover-Comedone-Extractor/dp/B019SVHLEY/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1542822442&sr=8-3&keywords=skin%2Btools&th=1

I think both of these options may be more gentle on your skin and easier / safer to use.

This is just meant as a friendly suggestion, feel free to disregard!

An extraction tool like this one causes less damage on my skin than using fingers or needles to deal with pimples and ingrown hairs. It will still leave a tiny wound, of course. It seems to me that a dab of Neosporin before bed seems to make that unnoticeable by morning, but I keep reading that Neosporin is no more effective than Vasoline for healing. The trick for scar-free healing is apparently to avoid scabbing which Vasoline will also do. And they say every exposure to Neosporin is another chance to develop a reaction to one of the three antibiotics in it. I still use it though, mostly for the pain-killing effect. No more ouchies.

If you are more patient there are many types of razor bump lotions. Most of them use salicylic acid as the active ingredient which exfoliates, eventually removing the layer of skin trapping the hair. I can't tell you how long it would take, and they are probably more effective used regularly to prevent future ingrown hairs.

I use Stridex Pads for the salicylic acid on some areas I shave that are prone to razor bumps and as long as I use it immediately after shaving, I never see bumps. Skip it and it's a fifty-fifty chance I'll see a few bumps. It contains alcohol and sometimes stings freshly-shaven skin, but we keep them on hand, so it saves buying and storing another product.

You could also dissolve uncoated aspirins in water and swab that on, for another on-hand source of salicylic acid. The razor bump lotions will contain skin conditioners, maybe thickeners to make it cling to the skin, and other ingredients like fragrances to make it more pleasant to use, but effectively it should work about the same.

Or if you don't want to spend $18, you can buy one on Amazon for less than a dollar.

u/absolutpalm · 5 pointsr/muacjdiscussion

I got a knockoff from amazon for about $40 and I really enjoy it. I got lazy about recharging it and stopped using it for a few months and definitely noticed a negative change in my skin where I tend to get oily and touch my face during the day. My breakouts have improved since I charged it back up and started using it again. It makes my skin feel softer than after just regular washing with my hands. I agree with u/2pmwhiskey, I feel like it helps give me a more thorough clean when I'm too tired to do a great job on my own. After ~ two years, it's still working fine. I will notice sometimes the vibrations will slow and then speed up for no reason, but it doesn't seem to affect how well it cleans my face.

u/mastiii · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Not a bad idea, but is it different than the moisture meters for skin already available? I know several people over in /r/Asianbeauty have them, for example like this one which is less than $20.

u/williamwchuang · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I very rarely pop zits but this is the process I use when I do. Make sure that the zit is in poppable condition. It has to be "tight" and "taut". Wash wish warm water. Use a disposable, sterile lancet to pop the pimple, and use a clean pimple popper to gently, gently, gently extract the crud. You should not squeeze the zit as much as apply downward pressure on either side of it. Then wash your skin again.

I use a face exfoliator thingy I got from Sephora years ago. I think it’s just the same thing as DermaFrida. We didn’t struggle much with cradle cap but it was a good way to lather up and exfoliate her head without worrying about hurting her. Here’s a generic version for cheaper. https://www.amazon.com/Scrubbies-Cleansing-Exfoliator-Blackhead-Exfoliating/dp/B07FBY4J4M/ (it’s $6 at Sephora)

u/wakatopatopa · 3 pointsr/beauty

Is your skin naturally oily, do you tend to be dry, or are you a combination of the two? What'll work best for you depends on your skin.

I've had a lot of success with this toner recipe. Salicylic acid can be a little difficult to find, but it was worth it. I have problems with milia around my eyes and it's the only thing that prevents them.

You might want to go in for a facial, or see a dermatologist. A qualified person can extract the ones you do have, show you how to do it, and would probably have recommendations based on your skintype.

Also - extractors like this are much much much better for your skin than pore strips. Those can further damage your skin, making more breakouts likely.

u/airial · 3 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Try an extractor. I get blackheads, but mine are very, very deep, and completely impossible to remove. Exfoliation, pore strips, peels, masks, nothing helps. They just appear out of nowhere and lurk in my skin for a few months without budging. I have to just wait for them to start surfacing and then go at them with the extractor.

Sorry that's all the advice I have :( I hate blackheads so much..

u/riceandrain · 3 pointsr/acne

This is similar to the one I have, http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0006PLPBC. You just apply light pressure and drag it along your skin. There are tons of YouTube clips showing how to do it properly.

u/Jezzikuh · 3 pointsr/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

Buy one of these. It will improve your life.

u/giottoblue · 3 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I have and have always had these on my upper inner thighs. I've recently discovered that these wire blackhead thingies are really good at removing them.

Exfoliating helps, but at least for me has never fully fixed it.

u/wiseblueberry · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

The flat side of a tool like this works well for me for removing actual blackheads. My skin is more prone to bruising/scarring if I use a bobby pin, but not everyone's skin is as sensitive as mine.

Actually, as pointed out by Dr. Lee, AKA Dr. Pimple Popper. Acne or comodomes are an infection. They should always be removed. She has dealt with ones that have been left for years or even sometimes, DECADES. The thing is you can't just pop a zit and leave it. it needs to be treated like any infection. It needs cleaning, disinfecting, and dressing. This could be as simple as washing your face and applying astringent. Which most astringents are alcohol based and then applying some topical redness reliever, like a cortizone cream. The cortizone reduces the size and makes the swelling go away. At worst case a bandaid, like a little bandaid plaster to keep out bacteria.

So many people pop a zit and wipe off what they can see with their finger. That spreads bacteria to all the other pores, plus anything you have on your finger is now wiped into an oozing open hole on your face. Basic hygiene is what is required. Leaving them alone can help but only because you not spreadin all that crap. But the acne will stay and cause great big sores sometimes. Best to get a comedome set like this.

What about (gentle) physical exfoliation?

An alternative to the Konjac are those little silicone scrubbies. I have one and find it super gentle. Like this, but it doesn't have to be this one. Mine came in a 2 pack at TJ Maxx for 3 dollars.

You could do it once or twice a week.

You can also try a regular BHA, the one from Paula's Choice is super gentle and doesn't have extra stuff in it.

Try nasal irrigation to wash allergens out from your nasal cavities. I'm like you, allergic to everything here in N. California (including cats and dogs), and years of allergy shots did nothing for me. I cope by

  • Using a neti pot with distilled water, usually after being outside for any length of time, and before bed. Most pharmacies have these, and they are cheap.
  • Claritin-D (or generic) 12-hour before bed and in the morning.
  • Showering before bed if I've been outside a lot.
  • Washing bed-clothes and vacuuming regularly.
  • Using a face steamer like this if I start wheezing from asthma
  • If things get really bad for me again I might try a prescription nasal spray, like Veramyst, Flonase, or a generic. I just hate paying a physician to get something that's over-the-counter in other countries...

    Good luck!
u/iputmywarpaintzon · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Depot! Makes everything so much easier and faster. I don't have to fumble through products to find what I want everyday. I don't have a very big collection either and I think it works really well with smaller collections. The reason I depoted is also so I could see and use more of my collection, and use products from different palettes at the same time without going back and forth (which I would find myself not doing). It works perfectly for everyday and for travel. At home I keep all my eyeshadows in one double-sided MAC palette and my blushes, contour, and a setting powder in single sided MAC palette. For travel I just take the eyeshadows, blush, contour and stick them in the same palette, so I can put on most of my face out of there.

By the way, The BEST way to depot is using the Goss method. I place one product at a time in a ~210 degree oven for about 3-4 minutes. Then immediately dig out the metal pan using an extracting tool like this one. I do my best to bend the packaging, not the tin if needed. If it doesn't pop right out, I slide a sturdy knife straight under it (vs prying it up at the edges) through a crevice created my the extraction tool.

u/plutos_kiss · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

This is what I use to pop pimples and extract blackheads. I just sanitize it before and after each use and have never had any problems. I will never use my fingers again.

squeezing blackheads out can cause a lot of damage to your skin because they are very difficult to get out. your fingernails and squeezing the skin can cause a scratch, which it looks like you did scratch yourself. i would use a blackhead extractor tool if you really want to get them out yourself. you can find them on amazon.
also before you try to extract your blackheads make sure you place a very warm washcloth on your face to open up your pores. or just take a warm shower. :)

I got a pretty basic set of two (four heads total) from Amazon. Can't remember the name, sorry. But it was one of the bestsellers. Looks like this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A6H2DD4/ref=mp_s_a_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1499995868&sr=8-4&keywords=comedone+extractor&dpPl=1&dpID=31cm2bMnDOL&ref=plSrch

My CC routine:

Get some lancets from the pharmacy. Yep, the ones for diabetics. They're sterile, inexpensive, and scalpel sharp. Then I lance the CC rather gently, as in top of the clog as possible. Again, these babies are teeny scalpels, so a little pressure goes a long way.

Then I press the CC with the oval-ish head. You might need to re-lance, but only use downward pressure with the extractor, and a little wiggle. If nothing comes out, LEAVE IT ALONE. slap on a hydrocolloid and try again a few days later.

But you should be able to get the clog out pretty cleanly. I swipe with a bit of alcohol, let it dry for a second, then cover with a cosrx patch.

My esthetician friend rec'd the lancets, because a clean cut heals better and faster than the more ragged tear you get from straight popping.

Wash your hands. And make sure you sanitize the tools. I use rubbing alcohol, before and after I use them.

I bought it on Amazon, here's the link [SOLO Mio - Sonic Facial Brush, Cleanser & Massager] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OYZKBVA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_vnKuxbG92XBTQ)

I like it better than brush or pad versions because it feels softer and I don't need to purchase refills. I bought mine about 7 months ago and really enjoy it. It looks like there are other products that are just as highly reviewed and cost even less.

u/hb408 · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Hi! I also have super dry skin that looks best when left alone, and have noticed it is super sensitive to cleansers. Your cleanser may be too harsh for your skin. The only cleansing that my skin likes is oil cleansing, and this product is great because it washes off:
https://www.amazon.com/Cleansing-Moisturizing-Cleanser-Sensitive-Rosemary/dp/B07777BXJ9/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1518826993&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=oil+cleanser&psc=1

I also wash with this instead of a face brush because it cleans well but isn't abrasive:

u/Dachshundlover91 · 2 pointsr/NoStupidQuestions

>I got my gallbladder taken out about 6 years ago. Since then, almost everytime I eat I have to poo kind of urgently afterwards. That has put me on a 3-5 shits a day schedule.

I gotta ask, is that a... normal consequence of having your gallbladder removed?

Diarrhea 3-5x/day, everyday, right after eating, for 6 years sounds awful to me, not to mention inconvenient. It doesn't seem like it bothers you all that much, though, so that's good at least.

To answer your question, there's nothing wrong with using a bidet without TP beforehand. The bidet was originally meant to be used in place of TP, after all.

However (and this is just me), the only thing I personally see an issue with is using your finger to scrub with when you're going that many times a day.

Yes, I know you said you wash your hands thoroughly afterwards, and it wouldn't be as big a deal if you were going once a day or so, like most people.

But if you're shitting 3-5 times a day every day, then I feel like there's inevitably gonna be a time when you're in a bit of a hurry and end up not washing your hands as thoroughly as you should. I also can't get past the thought of poo particles possibly getting under your fingernail and building up there.

(Btw, the cultures you mention that wash after shitting with water and their bare hand have really strict rules about it—for example, they only wash with their left hand, and never use the left hand to eat with, or prepare food with, or to shake hands with, etc.)

If the water pressure of the bidet isn't strong enough to blast off all of the poo without manual scrubbing, then what about spraying, giving your bum a quick once-over with a single wet wipe to dispatch any clingers, then giving another spritz for good measure? Only downside to that is you'd still be consuming a disposable good.

Another option is entering a time warp to the year 3000 and using a silicone scrubber in place of your finger or TP. They're antibacterial, last forever, gentle on the skin (they might look hard but the bristles are actually super soft), super cleansing (you're basically squeegee-ing your skin clean), and work up a great lather when used with soap. Not to mention, they boost circulation and feel pretty awesome. Using one feels like you're getting your bum kissed by a horde of small, friendly sea anemones.

There are silicone bath scrubbers meant for the whole body and smaller ones meant to be used for the face.

The face scrubbies are sufficiently size if you're just aiming to clean the immediate vicinity of your dooderhole. I bought mine in a 2-pack (different colors) at a drugstore. One I use for my face and armpits, the other is designated for the unholier areas of the body.

If you prefer the precision of your finger there's also silicone finger toothbrushes meant to brush a baby's teeth/gums with.

Btw (and sorry if this is TMI), I actually once knew a gay guy (a male go-go dancer, actually) who swore by using a silicone finger toothbrush and a drop of toothpaste "down there" to freshen up with. Just make sure nobody in your household has a baby and gets it mixed up with the baby care items.

u/chemkara · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I have bought The Clarisonic, The Foreo, Konjac and I rarely use any of them. I prefer and found double cleansing is enough plus AHA every 3rd day.

I found these Silicone Scrubbers at TJMaxx for a couple of bucks and use them more than I use the expensive brushes.

u/grumpykitten248 · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Hi! To start off, I don’t think you need a scrub. Especially not one with those little awful plastic beads (aren’t they being pulled of shelves?) Anyway, most scrubs you find are harsh and abrasive for your skin, and often frowned upon by this sub. There’s just better ways to exfoliate your skin than rubbing walnut shell fragments around your face. For one, chemical exfoliants are great. This would be AHAs and BHAs. I started off with The Ordinarys Glycolic Acid, which I still use. Definitely introduce a chemical exfoliant into your routine slowly, and make sure to patch test! I started off using this like everyday and boy did my skin hate me for it. When I started using it once a week, I got much better results. You did not mention in your post that you use a moisturizer/sunscreen, and if you decide to pick up and use a chemical exfoliant definitely make sure to add these things into your routine! Chemicals like glycolic acid (AHA) increase your sensitivity to the sun, but you should definitely be using a sunscreen daily anyway for protection. If you are still interested in physical exfoliation, I recommend these little scrubbers. They’re so gentle and I just pair them with my normal cleanser. I also like how they’re silicone, so more resistant to bacteria and less abrasive than a bristle brush. Hope this helps!

Go to the dermatologist. If you already do, stick with it for a while and do what your dermatologist tells you, it will take a while. Trust me I started going about a year or two ago when my acne was getting pretty bad and I have gone through ALOT of different products and have really felt like giving up at times but seriously after trial an error over time my acne has really improved! I know for some it might be a little costly but it is really worth it.
Another thing i would recommend is buying one of these,
what it is is a facial steamer (kind of like a face sauna) and will open up and really clean your pores. It has also really helped me improve my complexion plus, it can "unblock" a stuffy nose!

hope this helps, and good luck! :)

alright, you've already gotten some pretty decent advice about your makeup. so here's my suggestion for future reference: go buy a blackhead remover. you can get them online or at a place like target, and it's a lot more gentle on your face than your fingernails! totally a worthwhile investment.

u/kscrimsher · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

In addition to NOT touching your face and sleeping on clean towels...

Go to the drugstore and buy benzoyl peroxide cream. When you feel a pimple coming on, wash your face with a gentle cleanser, rub the cream into the pimple, and forget about it for a while. If you need to pop, buy an extractor tool and go on Youtube for good demos. Wash your face, swish the tool in some rubbing alcohol and gently press on each black or whitehead you want to get rid of. Voila! Acne under control.

u/tinyphotographer · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

Actually, it is better for your skin if you pop the pimples, albeit you have to do it properly (i.e. using clean hands, washing your face after and then applying a treatment). Never force a pimple to pop, as that can cause damage to your skin and cause scarring. But the really gross whiteheads that look like they are going to burst on their own, yeah, you need to drain the bacteria out of those suckers. Otherwise you are letting it fester under your skin and break down the surrounding tissue.

As for blackheads, you can purchase a comedone extractor to help rid yourself of them.

I will say, though, that you should never try to pop a cystic pimple. Those are the ones that feel like a ball under your skin. If you attempt to pop one of those you can cause the bacteria to spread under your skin. It's best to let a professional handle those.

u/baking_ninja · 1 pointr/AskReddit

I know I have the perfect boyfriend because he lets me clean his pores with this when I run out of pimples to pop on my own face.

I got an extractor (one of these dudes ) and now when I feel a pimple and I just get that addictive urge to pop it, I am able to at the very least wait till I get home to use the tool, as it usually works better than my fingers. The tool is easier to keep clean than my hands, and it does less damage to the skin than scraping with your fingers does. Plus I keep my popping down to once a day, in the evenings, so there's less inflammation. Now I've at least minimized my skin picking, and am working on eliminating it entirely. It's a good starting point. :) hope it helps!

Try a salmon toned color correcting concealer. LA Girl makes a really good salmon concealer, and so does Urban Decay. You can tap the product on with your finger to blend out the product under your eyes. I find that the Urban Decay concealer is very soft and buildable.

For blackheads and clogged pores, try using a facial cleansing tool after a hot shower. It looks like a metal hoop on one side and a sharp point on the other side. I highly recommend watching demos on YouTube before trying it out, because it's really hard to explain how to use it without visuals. This tool will help you clean out the deeply clogged pores that a pore strip or facial cleanser might not be able to catch. Be very careful with it and always remember to sanitize it with alcohol before and after using it. I also highly recommend trying a Clarisonic for everyday cleansing.

I occasionally get my teeth whitened at a spa, but I only get them done if I need instant results. I've used Crest 3D white toothpaste before and noticed better results than other brands.

Get a pore presser to remove them in a sterile, non-destructive way. This is the one I have, the angled ones are great. It takes about a week for them to grow back. My skin has noticeably improved, pores have become less visible and cleaner- same for my boyfriend. Rule #1: keep it sanitary (alcohol them between pressings), and #2: be as gentle with your skin as you can be!

IF you feel the need to pick at your face, at least don't use your fingers. Most of the time, you do more bad than good . Whenever I get a blackhead, I use a blackhead extractor after I shower to get it out. If i get a whitehead, I run the blackhead extractor over the top of it and it pops it with ease.

So yeah, look into getting one of these.

u/skincareaddict92 · 1 pointr/abdiscussion

Of course! So I bought [this] (https://www.amazon.com/BESTOPE-Blackhead-Remover-Comedone-Extractor/dp/B019SVHLEY/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1498406863&sr=8-1&keywords=comedone+extractor) kit. I first make sure to double cleanse and get all the gunk off my face. Then I use a toner to get the remaining dirt off my face. I bought [this] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BPKUCRE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) steamer. I turn it on and steam my face for 5 minutes. It gets really hot so I'm pretty far from the steamer itself. You want a nice warm mist on your face. After 5 minutes, I whip out the kit and examine my face. With the smallest loop, I gently press down on any sebaceous filaments and blackheads I see. If it doesn't come out with a gentle press, I leave it alone. It's sooo tempting to push harder and get everything out but it can lead to scarring which has happened to me so many times.

I had rhinoplasty done recently so I can't extract anything on my nose so I do something different for that. I first apply BHA, wait 10 min, then apply a clay mask and wait until it dries. I wash it off and infront of the steamer, I apply my cleansing oil and just massage it into my nose gently and to the rest of my face. After about 3-5 minutes of massaging, you'll start to feel grits which is all the gunk that came out of your pores. [This] (https://fiftyshadesofsnail.com/2015/03/28/how-to-shrink-pores-temporarily-plus-3-pore-myths/) is where i got this method from :)

if you are going to remove blackheads and clean pores, definitely make sure your face is warm and moist. perfect time to do it is immediately after a shower. the steam really helps open up your pores! I would recommend using an extractor tool. something like this would be fine. make sure you wipe off and clean the tool with an alcohol wipe before each use. if you press down and its not coming out - leave it. it is not ready. trying to get it out will cause so much redness and scarring (trust me ive made this mistake many times!) also highly recommend using a toner after extracting. i would also recommend incorporating a clay mask into your routine 2-3 times a week. i use the fresh umbrian clay mask and ive noticed a huge difference in my nose blackheads. they aren't completely gone but they are much smaller and less noticeable!

Not an expert but I frequent r/popping and r/skincareaddiction quite a bit.

Probably turned black From irritation. Do your best not to pop or pick at them. If you need to pop them (like if they’re large and white and make you feel self conscious), wipe your face with alcohol on a cotton swab to sanitize it. Wipe your tool with alcohol, too. Be extremely gentle. Stop when you see blood. Here’s a tool set I recommend. If I were you, I’d begin using CeraVe cleanser both night and day. This is an inexpensive brand but is recommended by tons of derms, including my own. It’s very gentle and suitable for sensitive skin. I’d recommend using moisturizer morning and nighttime also, but not a must. Also, use a sunscreen in the morning (and afternoon if possible). Have you tried CeraVe cream with salicylic acid? Most people do need to exfoliate their skin regardless of how sensitive it is. The chemical exfoliant (salicylic acid) in the cream will help to gently slough away dead skin while being very hydrating.

Gentle manual exfoliation can also be very helpful. As someone who also has very sensitive skin, i find these helpful for use when I am washing my face.
