there seems to be a horizontal seam about 2/3 of the way down...did you use a snowball maker to get this scoop..?

u/[deleted] · 12 pointsr/cosplay

It's about 24" in diameter and started off as one of these.

EDIT: 24", not 26"

u/grauenwolf · 10 pointsr/wma

It's just a child's sled with the straps moved. You can see the original holes for the handles.

Amazon has a metal version for half the price.

Of course you can! That's the best part about the internet! As much as I'd like to make one for you I don't think I'm going to turn this into a side business. I posted a link in this thread about the DIY reddit post and YouTube video I followed to make this and if you're serious about making one for yourself I'll be happy to pm you some tips I figured out along the way that aren't in the video or post.

Haha, thanks! It's a metal sled from Amazon!

A friend of mine brought a foam snow sled to the top of Whitney. Unfortunately conditions didn't allow him to use it much on the way down.

u/dcux · 3 pointsr/washingtondc

What, are they sold out? Mine's supposed to delivery by Thursday. (the green wasn't available for Thursday delivery when I ordered)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009PXJFK4 (pretty small)

Here's a slightly larger one, again pink is the only Thursday delivery option.

Not to discount your little one, but this (or something like it) might be really great:

this one has the high back and is safer. Our boy is pretty tall, so we bought him one for ~5 yo, much longer and he kind of slides around in it a bit.

edit: Jesh.. We bought ours used at some sale of donated kid's stuff at the Fairgrounds for like $10, I had no idea they sold for so much, ours is closer to this one - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OSL8KYK?psc=1

I own this sled but mine was purchased from Xtraining...https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L3OHEY2/?coliid=I2E01USRRXNVFD&colid=NYAM9XNYK5JZ&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

I love it. I use it at least twice a week for pushes, pulls and also attach a 50ft natural fiber rope to it and do back rows\pulls.

I like this sled in particular because it has dual weight stems so I can load as much as ten plates on it using non-bumper plates.

I have some plastic skis that I picked up from a plastics company here in San Diego that keeps it quite on the asphalt street.

Yeah, mine has been a tremendous boon to my training.

You have to mention GT Snow Racers. They seem to have been unique (and awesome) to Canadian snow play for decades and have somehow never really made a splash anywhere else even though they're available in the US.

I am using a snow sled I found on Amazon that's made of rubber. (http://www.amazon.com/Snow-Sled-Saucer-Heavy-Purple/dp/B00HGJAKEE)
After a lot of sanding and painting, it looks and feels like the real thing. But it took a lot of fabrication to get it to that point.

u/romerom · 2 pointsr/surfing

this guy right here is well rated, and should handle your weight. Not too expensive. Good entry sled.

Something like this?

New Children Girl Boy Plastic Sled Snow Glider for Winter Snow Skiing Fun Yellow https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M2G9CHC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_CuNKwbS3PMH7E

They're usually called spoon sleds or spider sleds I think.

u/5outh · 2 pointsr/darksouls

The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about how I'd do this is to repurpose one of those saucer sleds!

Great work by the way, it must have taken a long time!

u/MommaSquish · 2 pointsr/RandomKindness

Oh I'm not sure TBH.. All I remember of sledding is using metal garbage can lids lol..

Paint a sled?

Hey there Bex. I have been thinking about this for ages now, and might be going for it the next couple of weeks. But the solution is to find something to mould a fiberglass body inside. People have suggested saucer sleds like this https://www.amazon.com/Snow-Sled-Saucer-Heavy-Black/dp/B00637PUOU. But personally i am going for a free craigslist sattalite dish.

u/The_High_Life · 1 pointr/skiing

Merikan Missle AKA Swiss Bob is by far the greatest sled ever made. We take them up Buttermilk at night pretty often to sled the groomers from the top. The runners allow you to carve turns, I am usually faster than the people on superlight racing A/T gear on the way done.

If this is non-functional, I wouldn't even bother with metal.

Get one of those saucer sleds, and either paint it up, or use it as a mold to cast plaster or some such. Amazon Home Depot

I think without totally removing them you'll end up just having to cover the whole shield with something else to get a perfectly smooth surface unfortunately. If you want to stay with a clear material, try looking up "clear acrylic skylight domes". You would have to make the handles but that's not super difficult.

If you want to go with metal, look up the "Flexible Flyer Steel Saucer". Here's an amazon link, but I'm in the US so you may do better searching for it yourself: https://www.amazon.com/Flexible-Flyer-Saucer-Slider-Winter/dp/B0006N8WYM/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_200_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=2RPS2NDVWKB7EPVDQ40R

If you cut off the edge that's super rounded in, you're left with an almost perfect captain america shield shape that's actually metal. Strip away the paint and polish the steel, then go in with an "anodized aluminum look" spray paint (Dupli-color is a good brand). This will give you a great shiny painted metallic finish look. Make sure you clear coat everything once you're done so the steel won't rust.

I was thinking of using something like this? Is it small compared to yours? Is yours extra durable?

You could probably just make them yourself though, it's not a crazy complex design.

u/lucaskwitko2 · 0 pointsr/Beyblade

Just buy a this instead of the stadium. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0006N8WYM/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 its cheaper and better. ( You will need to modify it a little)

Where is all of that money going? What are they even putting into these things? Aren't they just a microcontroller and some pressure sensors slapped onto one of these?
