Quick links:

Base layers: Uniqlo Heat Tech ($15ea) or anything else you find that's not cotton. Get short sleeve and long sleeves.

Fleece layer (combine with next layer when it gets really cold): This REI fleece jacket is on sale for $20 in charcoal right now.

Insulation (down) Layer: Uniqlo ($70) or even this super cheap Uniqlo knockoff ($23) if you can wait a month for delivery somewhere. You'll probably want to size up on this layer for when you need to fit your fleece under.

Super basic rain layer in case you need to get out while it's raining: Frogg Toggs $15 and size up.

Wool socks: Kirkland signature
$20

Blanket: Hammockgear 0º quilt ($232. You'll want Long and Wide) For emergency purposes I'm recommending a weather rated quilt. It's like a sleeping bag but it comes fully unzipped to act like a blanket as well. You don't NEED it though just something to keep in mind for when it gets a lot colder. Or just pile up on

Beanie depends on your head size. Can't go wrong with a carhartt usually. $13

For gloves what I do is get some safety rated leather gloves like these durawears($38), in case you need to get out and work on something while it's below freezing) and also get some liners ($25). You might want to add another heavy duty set of mittens for emergency reasons.

**OR https://www.ironclad.com/all-ironclad-gloves/outdoor-adventure/cold-climate/

And if you want to treat yo self I can't recommend MeUndies enough for comfortable boxers. Their boxer briefs are the most comfortable I've ever worn and they work for you bc they're not cotton. Also their lounge pants would be awesome to sleep in.

You probably have/want steel or composite toe boots if you're at all involved with loading/unloading but they're uncomfortable as shit so for day to day just get some beaters with good traction. Don't need anything fancy. You're driving not styling like some kind of goddamed cityboy. And you might make your work boots highs in case you ever gotta deal with snow.

ALSO, please get a basic emergency set up.

Emergency blanket, candles/matches, energy bars, water, etc.

I'm known for wearing bright, colorful socks to my office job each day. If you're spending every day dealing with stuffy, judgmental folks who might hamper your career progress, then you can always second-guess your sock choice, but I know plenty of successful folks who see their socks as the last bastion for playfulness in an otherwise prim-and-proper wardrobe.

Lots of the socks from Soxy and Happy Socks can be found on Amazon, since lots of those brands are filling out their selection with a bunch of generics made in china. Specifically look for HSELL and Deer Mum.

I really like these, and also these. They're the same exact product as many of the big sock retailers are selling, but for a fraction of the price.

These links are just examples. I'm not necessarily suggesting you purchase these exact items, but I do own and can personally recommend most of these. Most of these things can be found in local thrift shops for cheap or on eBay or there will be cheaper options available out there if you look.

The site is pretty ironic but [here is a fairly comprehensive guide] (http://www.artofmanliness.com/2011/12/21/cold-weather-dressing/) to cold weather wear.

u/horsif · 11 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

Stomper Joe's were the first I ever bought. They've worked well so far and sit very low on my heel.

Uniqlo has good no-shows. They sit a bit higher than the Stomper Joe's, but still a good buy.

u/srs1978 · 9 pointsr/streetwear

Get some true no show socks and you won't have this issue. The only just hook around the bottom of the foot. - https://www.amazon.com/Stance-Mens-Super-Invisible-Socks/dp/B00603COBE

Same socks for way less and Prime shipping. I got them and they're super comfortable.

u/DelayedArtisticGuppy · 7 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I just use these. There are better options like wool, but they are more expensive.

This guide will probably do a better job of explaining it than I can.

u/simonsays440 · 6 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

Same socks on Amazon. Bought them last week and so far, so good.

u/badger28 · 5 pointsr/CampingGear

They cost much less, I want to say it was a 4 pack for 20. They feel softer to me and don't make my feet sweat as much. I think it is 80 percent merino wool. Darn Toughs always felt tight on the top of my foot and would start to bother me after 12 hours or so. Both brands seem to last just as long. Kirkland Signature Mens Outdoor Trail Socks Merino Wool

u/YesImMexican · 5 pointsr/Sneakers

Normally myself and other people wear socks like this. I have some nautica pairs that are padded and have a gel strip so they don't slip. Makes it look like you don't have socks on but you do. Hope this helps!

u/xenvy04 · 5 pointsr/feminineboys

I'm gonna spam my own fashion sense, I hope you like some of what I like ;p

If you want dresses, I would recommend one size fits all dresses off Amazon. Then you don't have to worry about cups that are not filled by breasts. I really love Sakkas brand, which you can find on Amazon. I have this, for example, and the top part is stretchy so it's basically one size fits all: https://www.amazon.com/Sakkas-103141-Adara-Batik-Dress/dp/B00K1ML5JW/ref=sr_1_33?ie=UTF8&qid=1482827864&sr=8-33&keywords=sakkas+dress

Or any cheap $10-$15 dress from a place like Forever 21 is so poorly designed that it is effectively one size fits all.

Here are some cute colorful socks:

https://www.amazon.com/HSELL-Colorful-Rainbow-Argyle-Multicolors/dp/B01DSKGV92/ref=sr_1_33?ie=UTF8&qid=1482827534&sr=8-33&keywords=one+size+fits+all+dress

I know a lot of people here also love those cat thigh high socks, like these:

https://www.amazon.com/Kawaii-Cartoon-Animal-Tattoo-Stockings/dp/B0163422D4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482827633&sr=8-1&keywords=cat+thigh+high

I bought this in the past and I think it's kinda androgynous

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JKF0BNC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cape coats are technically women's fashion but they're so obscure that I think a lot of people don't know how to gender them

https://www.amazon.com/Artka-Womens-Embroidery-Turn-down-Collar/dp/B00F8A0C5U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482827761&sr=8-1&keywords=cape+coats

I also really love Mordenmiss jackets (also off Amazon). They're really loose and kinda art smock-y.

I bought this pair of boots a while back and they're really, really nice!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KAI4GL6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've also bought these and I get tons of compliments on them

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OMUIWD6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also have this Forever 21 dino sweatshirt and I can't walk 5 minutes without getting a compliment on it. Unfortunately it isn't sold in stores anymore, but this might help give more ideas of femme clothing.

https://cdnd.lystit.com/photos/2013/10/28/forever-21-blackgold-quirky-dinosaur-sweatshirt-product-1-14521999-527549268.jpeg

I think anything that is a "Women's [traditionally male clothing]" is bound to look fairly androgynous. Like women's button downs, women's sweatshirts and sweatpants, women's leather jackets, etc.

Honestly I buy this 8 pack on Amazon and they’ve served me well.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071114HR9

They’re light and thin, which I kind of like tbh (you get what you pay for) but they’re functional, comfortable, and cheap.

u/FuckYouImFunny · 4 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I just bought these socks for myself, you can buy 18 pairs for ~$50! Supposed to be high quality socks, and black socks are awesome since you can't see dirt on them. Oh yeah, did I tell you that you'd look bad ass? Yes, I was really really excited about these socks and I still am, seeing that I don't buy myself things often.

Lodge Logic 12" Skillet for ~$19 and the 8" for ~$11 at Walmart.

u/heydaveyj · 3 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Was going to say the same thing. I get mine off amazon

u/Alakazam · 3 pointsr/malefashionadvice

What kind of accessories are you looking for exactly? Guys, luckily, don't have much in the way of jewelry.

For a watch, you could easily get a Gshock or a Casio Duro within your price range.

Or, if you want more than one accessory, Royal + Kirkland Trail Socks are within your budget.

Or perhaps a scarf? Gloves?

u/FeelLikeImMoby · 3 pointsr/malefashionadvice

These are the ones I recently picked up. Fit very well and seem to be pretty well made.

u/ipodaholicdan · 3 pointsr/streetwear

These are the ones the I currently use. They might show a tiny bit above your shoe but they're the most comfortable and least bothersome pair I've used. There's another with excellent ratings on Amazon but they look more like ballet slippers and the sticky pad on the back wouldn't work on some pairs because theirs were placed about a millimeter lower.

u/WorseBlitzNA · 3 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

Piggybacking off your comment, i was recommended these no-show socks from this sub and they have lasted me over a year now.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071114HR9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

A bit cheaper than the Puma ones and they don't ride up at all. Very comfortable as well

Socks are most likely the only solution. I realized I had the smelly-foot syndrome when I started wearing Sperry's without socks. I tried "odor eater" powder and even shoes off often. I ended up buying special, super low-cut socks. Foot problem's improved ever since.

u/braff_travolta · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I picked up a 3-pack of these Stomper Joes for $9 and they've been working out great. They're not too thin, the non-slip pad works and they don't make my dogs sweat into my shoes (85% cotton). Price is right too.

u/testudo · 2 pointsr/Sneakers

I run in these. They're very close to running sockless. I find they'll soak up some of the moisture/stink, but mostly create a little breathing space around your feet in your shoes. I also use these for most other shoes I wear that need that sock-less look.

Even here...

u/cleansy · 1 pointr/london_entrepreneurs

Hey, I took out some time to have a look. But I gotta say, it is very pricy (3.75 per pair) and the design isn't that extraordinary.

For example look at https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zmart-Patterned-Casual-Socks-8-Pack/dp/B00ZUP9830/ref=pd_sim_194_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=PX7PZSHA7XKSQCVNK2RP
8 pack, with famous paintings: 8.99

I think what's missing is a USP. Like:

  • neon coloured socks?
  • Some crazy design?
  • Special material?
  • Special, niche purpose (Airplane compression socks that look good?)
  • An interesting story to tell (like: £1 per pack goes to a clean water project in Africa or whatever.)

I just don't see any differentiator from the competition and for this the price is not really justifiable.
u/bobojojo12 · 1 pointr/TeenFA
u/buddhajones19 · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

No show socks, fam. But you have to get the right ones. These are phenomenal. I spent like 26 bucks and got 12 pairs because I hate how socks look if I'm not wearing boots or a suit. Totally worth it any day, and they actually dont slide off my feet.

u/empw · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

If I'm wearing a boat shoe I won't wear socks. With other shoes that go with shorts I try not to show any sock as I personally think it's tacky.

This is a good option.

u/minimal_mike · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Looks good, but like the others say, get lower profile socks, like these:

http://www.amazon.com/Calvin-Klein-Mens-Liner-Socks/dp/B007KZ2IHG

Banana Republic sells some too, in white. It'll keep you from stinking up your shoes. Just make sure no one sees them on you :)

u/Mercury_NYC · 1 pointr/funny

I just buy the same socks from the same brand.

I have Gold Toe Men's Cotton Crew Athletic Sock for jeans during fall/winter/spring. I wear Gold Toe Men's Cotton Liner Athletic Sock for the gym days or during the summer when I wear shorts and sneakers.

Makes life a million times easier. Every 2 years or so, I buy another pack to replace lost or damaged socks. The new ones look exactly like the older ones, so its easy to do laundry.

u/abovemars · 1 pointr/frugalmalefashion

M&Z no shows are my favorite especially at $14 for 6 pairs. But I also have good experiences with the Timberland no shows and the no shows that Journey's sells.

u/infraninja · 1 pointr/frugalmalefashion

These aren't meant for boat shoes. They aren't invisible. Are there any socks by M&Z for boat shoes that don't show at all? Check users images in reviews.

https://www.amazon.com/hz/reviews-render/mobile-media-feed/B01ET8SJF6/ref=cm_cr_dp_mb_crsl_img_10?ie=UTF8&physicalId=81EUAaBXEyL&imageExtension=jpg&reviewId=R3FG7VJIQ9QXR

I wear these..

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00MWOETP4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474030636&sr=1-1&pi=SY200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=31bs0DmgEjL&ref=plSrch

But any no show socks would work. Most people really don't wear these shoes with no socks, that would stink them up. I like this pair because they have silicone on the back heel to keep them from moving..

I use to wear the Journey's ones and they're decent, especially for the price. Thicket fabric (like I'm looking for) but I did have trouble with them slipping off the heel.

I've been wearing these that have a little gel thing that helps them stick to your heels. They're great, cheap, BUT super thin (hence this post).

No shows ftw. These from Amazon work really well.

What do you guys think of these socks? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DSKGV92

I bought these on a whim and now I'm concerned whether they're too loud/tacky? I'd like to wear them with nice jeans/chinos and brown boots to work and on dates.

I legitimately have regular black socks on my wishlist.

Champion Men's 6 Pack No Show Sock, Black

I just put it there as a reminder for myself, but it's probably the lamest thing on mine. Woo.
