Going for understated classy? I would stick with blacks, golds, and reds. For a more dressed down, festive event, mix in some deep, holly greens, or even a silly novelty holiday piece or two.

Hair down; I would go simple up top. As simple as a black ribbon choker and stud earrings, then use bolder statement pieces on your wrists and hands.

Hair up; I would still say black ribbon choker but add statement earrings or a hair piece. I'm not huge on sparkle, so I gravitate towards brushed metals and dyed textiles or leather, but there is absolutely no rule against those fabulous rhinestone numbers if you can pull them off. Or just stick a poinsettia in your hair. Clip it in though, otherwise it tends to be just precarious enough to irritate.

I found these, which I would also probably be pissed to receive for my 10 year anniversary.

Super affordable and I got my second and third holes pierced in October of last year and these became my saving grace. They didn’t bother my new holes and I swear their open center helped when it came to keeping the area clean and sanitized.

This book is about the song Hallelujah (which is a beautiful song) and how it became to be one of the most recorded songs in history. It was originally kind of a failure but somehow made it to the place where it is today where it has been performed by hundreds of musicians. I find it amazing that this song that almost didn't make it onto the album it was originally written for. When it did make it to the album it was a flop, yet here we are listening to this song that has become so popular.

I purchased these earrings off of Amazon and always receive compliments on them. I like that they are sterling silver, and the 10mm are the largest size I'd select without being too large.

If she's prone to losing earrings frequently (like I used to be), cubic zirconia earrings are a good alternative! They're really inexpensive but look nice in the ears. I still have some pairs from 5-6 years ago and I'm really happy with them.

In general, I really love the options at Francesca's, and it helps that they frequently have a BOGO 50% sale all the time. Some of their options may not be appropriate for the more conservative fields, but I find that they generally are appropriate for young professionals.

Finally, I've purchased these and these earrings from Nordstrom and I am in absolute love with both pairs. Nordstrom can have some really reasonably prices jewelry, like this pair or this pair.

Oh! Sorry to keep stretching this out, but for real last one: if the person you are shopping for really likes unique pieces, I encourage you to take a look at Etsy's options. There are so many earrings there that would be difficult to find elsewhere.
