Anyone here who doesn't have pepper spray needs to pick one up.

Theres a two pack. Give one to a friend.

Always test it once downwind first. Each cannister has about 20 shots.

If you ever have to use it never pussy foot it, otherwise you'll just escalate the situation and potentially freeze. Unload the thing on the attacker so that you're 100 percent sure it'll incapacitate

They're cheap, it's not like you're wasting gas or something.

There's that thing too. Those are good from close range.

It's good to get brightly colored ones so you can easily find it.

The pepper spray with the plastic shell is better because the grip makes it obvious which way it's pointing.

But again, always test them to make sure they aren't defective. There's always a chance that you have a dud that doesnt spray right.

Wow this thing is so cool.

OK, here's the deal: I'm a cop who has a fair bit of experience with the whole "self-defense" thing. If you want your wife to be able to protect herself from some kind of attack, a knife is an absolutely terrible way to do that. Don't get me wrong, a good pocket knife is something that everyone should carry: they are super useful for opening packages, cutting up snacks, even trimming hangnails in a pinch. But when a bad guy is trying to do you harm, a knife is a really bad way to stop it.

The very best thing your wife can do is to take a good self-defense class and learn some basic situational awareness, because the best way to win a fight is to avoid a fight. If she really wants to be able to protect herself, get her some good strong pepper spray. A good dose of this in the bad guy's face will give her time to run like hell and get help. Another good, but more expensive and less reliable, method is a Taser. Not some shitty stun gun that commonly gets called a "Taser," but and actual "probes shoot out and embed in the bad guy" Taser. Stun guns just cause a little sharp pain where and when they touch, but the taser gives you stand-off distance, and actually locks us the major muscles of the bad guy for 30 seconds (on this model, at least) if it gets a good hit. That said, I've used a Taser X26 on people a number of times, and when it works, it works great, but about a third of the time it doesn't work at all. A gun is a last-ditch choice, and then only if your wife is willing to put an enormous amount of time, effort, and money into instruction, training, and regular practice.

I'm making my calculations from Alibaba and Amazon,

Let's say 18,000 fireworks are about 5$ each? even though the huge fireworks cost up to 20$.

That's about 100k usd in fireworks.

Let's say the commando knives are 16$ each = 83k

Let's say the swords are Katana, and cost between 100$ to 200$ - 100k to 200k

Tasers 24$ - 132k

Flashlight Taser 21$ - 90k

I don't know how much the christmas decorations cost, or what are the "other cold weapons" in thousands. but i don't think it's cheap either.

I'd say this is about 1mil$ sent to harm people instead of food/medicine to he Palestinians.

I went with the 999,000,000 volt. Just for good measure.

While I sympathize with the officer I'll add that this scares me.

While I'm much younger than the man in the video, and know not to get out of the car, keep my hands visible at all times, etc., I have no idea if there are actions that I could do in the future that could get me in trouble.

What if I have my phone in my hand? It's solid black and rectangular. Could it get mistaken for a tazer? Probably not, but I could easily imagine gesturing (sorry sir, I didn't see the light back there (reaches over shoulder and points out the window with phone in hand)) such that an officer could perceive it as a threat.

u/penguin_waddle · 10 pointsr/AskWomen

correct. It's not a taser. It's like a stun gun, but it's cheap. See this example.

Ok, long time kinkster and electricity enthusiast.

TL;DR Thing 1 and thing 2 But most important is Folsom Electric I can not begin to recommend their products strongly enough. They are expensive, but absolutely and completely worth every penny. My Folsom Bi-polar butt plug when used with a good TENS control box has given more people orgasms than any toy except my Magic Wand. I have tried many of the cheap knock offs, save your money, if you want a butt plug or a vaginal toy, only the Folsum Bi-polar butt plug is worth your money or time.

First off, don't worry about barefeet on concrete, that's now how DC current works. It only goes from the positive terminal to the negative terminal via the path of least resistance. If you lick a grounded metal pole while being shocked by 10 million volt taser, the result will be exactly the same as if you were in a rubber room. It'll suck, but it won't "hurt" you any more cause you are grounded. AC current is different. (Side note, Lightning is DC current, and it works the same as a stun gun, it's just that instead of to little metal electrodes the whole earth becomes one electrode, and the whole sky becomes the other. It's not the electricity that kills you, it's the heat)

  • 1 In the end most of these devices are the same electronics. The big differences will be the range of the signal, the size of the remote, the type of batteries, and the power of the shock. You might check Aliexpress for some less expensive options. If that is in your budget, just know that those button cells can get expensive and will run dry quickly.

  • 2 Absolutely, but make sure it's steel, and not just chrome plated. In theory, the chrome plating could be removed from the cage and transferred to you by the electric current. (This is realistically Not a true concern, but technically possible.)

Also remember that the strength and type of sensation is inverse to the area of contact. Lets use a strength scale of 1-10, 1 being licking a 9 volt, and 10 being a Stun Gun. A jolt of strength 8 delivered by a stun gun will wake you the fuck up. However take the same strength shock, and instead of delivering it through two small studs, deliver it through a couple big TENS pads, and sure, there will be some involuntary muscle contraction but it's not gonna hurt at all. So when using a cage to deliver the shock, the shock will be delivered by the whole cage evenly, and you will still need a second point of contact. In effect the cage is the positive connection, you still need a negative connection. So you'll need a TENS pad on your balls or something, and if that pad has a smaller surface contact area than the cage, you'll mostly feel the shock there.

  • 3 Buy a freaking stun gun too. I can not tell you what a mind fuck hearing that sound right next to your ear is while you are tied down and blind folded. It literally becomes your whole world. Also, they fucking tickle like a son of a bitch. 10/10 would buy again. The shock callers don't hurt so much as they just surprise you. All those videos you see of guys falling over in pain? Either they are pussies, or they are hams, it just doesn't hurt like that. (or I'm a fucking hopeless masochist...shrug) Getting a stun gun to the big muscles of your thigh? Fucking hilarious, just be sitting down when it happens. It really doesn't "hurt" so much as it completely overwhelms your thought process.

  • 4 Basically, if you can draw a line from the positive connection, to the negative connection, and the line comes close to the heart, spinal cord, brain, or eye balls, don't do that. Again, that is just not how DC current works, and you could probably hold a shock collar to your chest over your heart and trigger it repeatedly without any problems, unless you just happen to have a diagnosed heart issue. But seriously there are so many places that are more fun to put it, I don't know why you would run even the 1 in 1million risk, so just don't. (but at the same time don't worry about one of these things killing/hurting you, it's just REALLY unlikely)

  • 5 Consistancy, consistancy, consistancy. Shock collars are fun as hell, but they are also a training tool. It takes real effort on her part, as she has to be really on the ball to shock you as soon as you do a thing. Examples, "Speak when spoken to" is a fun game, and will fuck with your head something fierce. She only shocks you when you speak without being spoken to. You will quickly learn all sorts of interesting ways to get her attention that don't involve talking. "Stop being so Negative" She shocks you every time you say something negative. This one is subtle but will actually have life altering effects if she is good with the training. "Oops, I dropped something" She "accidentally" drops something subtly in public, then shocks the shit out of you until you find and retrieve it for her.

Electricity is probably my favorite kink, even over chastity and sounding. Please ask me all the questions.

You could always buy a stun gun

Or you could disassemble a camera and use the flash circuit

Or you could make your own using a flyback transformer

Obvious disclaimer: high voltage is dangerous. Know what you are doing or find someone who does.

u/triplehelix013 · 7 pointsr/homedefense

Alarm systems and Ring doorbells are reactive rather than proactive. They help the bad guys get caught after they break into your home and steal your stuff or injure/kill the occupants.

You want to be proactive. My 2 main focuses would be the following:

  1. Make it difficult for someone to get into your apartment.
  2. Give yourself the means to protect yourself if your apartment is breached.

Things to think about for Main focus 1 (security):

As far as making it difficult for someone to get into your apartment, having the appearance of a hard target will help. Beware of dog signs are supposedly effective for homes, I don't know how they work for apartments. May be worth researching.

How secure is your door? How deep do the screws go into the door frame on the bolt? If it is less than 3 inches replace them. Consider a door jam, I don't have one of these yet but have heard great things about their effectiveness of resisting doors getting kicked in. Obviously won't help while you are out but is great for when you are inside.

How secure/reachable are your windows? Is it feasible that someone could get to your window with or without a ladder? Secure your windows as best you can. I am a fan of security screens for windows but on an apartment I doubt you are going to want to install those.

Do you have a balcony? How secure is the door/slider? If it is a door consider a door jam like for the front door. If it is a slider then make sure you have a security bar. Glass is a weakpoint, I like security screens as for windows, but if not an option security film may be.

Things to think about for Main focus 2 (defense):

I saw in a previous comment you are not comfortable having a gun in your house. I would suggest you get comfortable with it. A firearm is the most effect tool to use in self defense because it is a distance tool. It can be used to stop a threat before they get within range to do lethal damage. Also it is not uncommon for armed robbers to be equipped with stolen firearms themselves and you will be left at their mercy praying they are just thieves and not murderers. If you do decide to get a firearm to protect yourself and your home get some training. A good instructor will make you comfortable with firearm safety and help you develop good practices early to be safe and effective with a firearm. I realize you might not want to consider this option and it is your right to choose whatever you feel comfortable with but I wanted to mention it anyway.

Non-firearm defense tools you could utilize is flashlights, pepper spray, blunt objects (as lethal as firearms but not as effective for self defense), sharp objects (also as lethal and less effective), stun guns (can be effective against weak willed opponents).

Personally I always have a 800 Lumen flashlight, knife, and pepper spray on my body. In my home and car I also keep a 1000 lumen flashlight and large fixed blade knives. Although I would hope to never be in such a fight for my life that I have exhausted all my firearms and have to use them.

I would highly recommend you get a bright flashlight you are comfortable carrying with you and pepper spray. A bright flashlight can be blinding in low light, if you have to deploy it shine it in their eyes and use that opportunity to see what is in their hands. Pepper spray is not very effective against determined attackers but may be enough to buy you some time to escape.

You may also want to look into a stun gun to use when walking the dog to deploy if the pepper spray fails to stop your assailant. I have two flashlight/stungun combos for walking the dog.

You only get one life, when it comes time to act or die; act with everything you got and the tools you have available to yourself at that time. Hopefully you will never have to deploy those defense tools but keeping them handy could be the difference between a long life and one that ends that afternoon.

    Good luck and stay safe

Your friend sounds really independent. Tell her that if she honestly wants to do this, she will need:

  • Her Birth Certificate.

  • Her Social Security Number Card.

  • At least $500 USD in the form of Prepaid Visa Cards. They function just like credit cards, except you pay for them with cash and have to activate them online.

  • A Heavy-Duty Bike. Having a bike more than doubles your range of activity, allows you to commute, grants fast-travel, and most importantly keeps you active and healthy.

  • A smartphone w/h detachable SIM card. This is IMPORTANT. Having a means of communication is essential if they're going to be on there own for any length of time. It enable you to have a job, call for help, etc.

  • A laptop. This is REALLY IMPORTANT. Having a computer increases your standard of living exponentially. It lets you assess the internet, and unlike the phone, gives you a larger platform with which to organize.

  • A means to defend themselves. This is REALLY REALLY IMPORTANT. Your friend is only 17, and there are numerous threats if they're alone. You don't have to dual-wield Desert Eagles, a stun gun will suffice.

    TL;DR: SSN,VISA,BMX,GSM,STUN GUN

EDIT: I like how everyone else is criticizing the life choices of a person they know nothing about.

u/Carfiter · 5 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

As a man, allow me to translate what you see into how we see it.

By dating him, you've shown interest. He has every reason to think you're into him. By being busy and making excuses not to see him, you've shown that it's not that you're not interested (since you would've just said that - you've been dating long enough to know he's not psycho) [again, this is his perspective, not an objective truth] your life is just hectic right now. Solution? Make plans far in advance so you can plan around that [admittedly, he should get the hint when that doesn't work, but if he's even just a bit clueless, he won't].

So as we can see, you've got a slightly clueless guy that is going to feel a bit strung along (don't feel guilty - this happens). Here's how you break up with him. Call him up and say, "I think you're really sweet, but I don't think we can take this relationship any further." Now, I don't want to make it like you SHOULD be sorry, but if you WANT to, you can add a "I'm sorry if you felt I strung you along." to ensure he doesn't try to harm you, if you're genuinely concerned about that. Overall, though, you need to chill. Most people aren't violent so unless he's given you a reason to fear him, you gotta live your life, friend.

If you're REALLY worried someone will attack you, carry a stun gun. I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FHDZGGM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3C7IRSYS82UNR Decommissioned a road rager when he felt that I cut him off and wouldn't let me walk away. (he's fine, it's not a powerful stun gun)

Arm yourself. That is almost certainly not the only potential dog problem in your neighborhood. Get a stun gun. The sound alone will send a dog flying off. If not, jam it in his mouth. Get two, one for his ribs too.

One dog on my walk liked to charge across his yard and lunge up at the top of his 3 foot fence barking and snapping right at my face, until I lit up the zapper about a foot from HIS face. Yowled and turned tail. Not a peep in the months since.

Another neighbor's dog got loose and kept coming into my yard, I yelled at it and it would head back toward its place, but circle on me as soon as I turned my back (I know that wolf behavior shit.) So grabbed the stun gun and walked out about 20 feet from it and lit up the zapper, same as the other dog- total shock and awe, tail between the legs and gone home at full speed.

Weapon of choice, its a flashlight too:

We have a few depending on how we’re gonna transport them. They are close quarters but they are the last resort. When it gets really scary is when there is nowhere to run. We live in Belltown and you could be cornered pretty quickly against a building. The taser is loud AF and a friend who is a cop says 5 seconds will knock you straight to the ground in convulsions. I told my wife, if you gotta use it ever...show them no mercy for you shall receive none....

Here’s one

I'd take a Tazer, one of the ones that you have to hold against skin. The sound alone scares the fuck outta every dog I've ever met. I take one to the dog part to break up dog fights.

Stun guns and tasers are different, correct. Stun guns shoot those strings that connect with the assailant, a taser will only shock the person if it comes in contact with their body. The state of Ohio is very lenient with tasers. As long as they are only used for self defense, they’re perfectly within the law. Also, I would rather face penalties of the law than be raped or abducted. Coming from a girl who has already been followed this first week or so of school. Anyways, here’s the one I have, highly recommend it.

Here's 19,000,000 volts of deterrent for 25 bucks. Also doubles as a flashlight if you have a breakdown somewhere. I got this for my wife, she hasn't had to use it thankfully, but the noise that this thing makes when you activate it is enough to scare off all but the craziest of crazy people. Also if the wrist wrap is removed it will not allow the electrode to engage, so someone else won't be able to use it on you.

Lots of stun-guns use a 9 volt battery and a pushbutton switch to create a 2.5 centimeter (1 inch) spark. So the answer to your question is:

YES, it is possible to make a spark with a 9 volt battery and a push button switch.

Bought this for my girlfriend when she has night class. She uses the flashlight on the stun gun instead of her phone whenever she is walking to her car after class... and by a quick switch of the button, it is ready in "stun" mode. When pressed, the noise of the stun gun going off is very audible. The noise alone would probably make an attacker back away. Size is small too, not too bulky, and fits fine in her small bag without taking much space.

Get a handheld stung gun and stun that mf'er. Nothing says I don't take shit from tweaker garbage like 38 million volts. After he is rolling around, zap that mf'er again just to assert your urban dominance!!! If he manages to recover before you get off the train, zap him again, hell, just keep him incapacitated until you get off, and then, make him say uncle and hock a lugie on his face as you leave.

Did he actual hit you with a TASER or just a "stun gun"?

A "stun gun" (like this: http://www.amazon.com/Monster-SG-M18000BK-P-Rechargeable-Stun-Gun/dp/B00KHSTTMA ) is even less effective than a TASER because it does not overload your central nervous system -- it relies on "pain compliance" (your nerves feel that electric shock and say "ouch!" and a conscious brain is supposed to say "hey, that hurts, maybe I should do something to make this not hurt").

A real TASER (tm!) has barbs that penetrate your skin with sufficient depth to create an internal electric current that overloads your CNS. If he actually shocked you with one of those, I'd be very impressed because he's got to be loaded (TASER reload cartridges are $30-50 each).

u/Mortation · 2 pointsr/Austin

My short answer and best advice to you is:

Do not put yourself in a situation you can not comfortably get out of. Do not put yourself in a situation that can or will likely lead to a situation you can not comfortably get out of.

My long answer for posterity:

"Safe" is a relative term, something that is safe for me may not be safe for you. Austin has had a lot of issues lately with violence and sexual assault, In this context I would ask yourself the following:

  1. Are you trained and comfortable with situational awareness as well as self defense?

  2. Are you familiar with the layout of your destination and have you done a quick mental risk assessment of its different areas?

  3. Will you look like an easy target?

If you cant confidently say yes, yes, no to those questions why take the risk? Just go to the gym, hit the trails during the day with light and heavier foot traffic.

Lastly as for the taser recommendation, its not the worst suggestion but not the best imo. If they are close enough for you to taze you are already in deep shit and behind the 8 ball. Get a long throw pepper spray Do not let someone who makes you uncomfortable and wont leave you alone within reaching distance, spray them and beat feat to safety. You can carry the taser as a last ditch backup. In fact they sell combo taser / flashlights so you can kill two birds with one stone. Vipertek VTS-T03

Just my 2 cents on your question.
u/SelfANew · 2 pointsr/AmItheAsshole

I've got this one with a flashlight. I have the light on during my run, and you can make the two points arc with a bright arc and crackle. I've never had to hit anyone with it just make the arc and noise.

It isn't a shooting one, it is handheld and you have to make contact.

The noise is really loud and I once held it and made it go off when I was first trying it out. My cat jumped so high from the surprise sound, I felt so bad I scared her that bad.

Let the pudgeball try and grab this from you. There are a lot of tasers that look like they could be Bat-Tasers. Many of them have protruding "ears" at the business end.

Lol. I did think of that. I'm just afraid that if I was able to unbuckle my dog's leather collar, I could open a lock box.

As others have stated, tell others where you are going, when you plan to be somewhere.if possible check in with people. The bear spray is good one and a better one that the hornet wasp spray because it has a wider funnel of spray so it is easier to aim. With wasp spray you have to be careful not to get hit yourself, it is a neurotoxic so it can affect you too. And the effects can remain. Another option is a taser like this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MV7BOUT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_rbXTCbFJB1VCZ

They specifically designed to give you time to get away from the treat. They will zap for 30 seconds and it will take the person at least a minute to get control again over their muscles. If you pull the trigger again it will zap for another 30 seconds. These are allowed in all states after a 2016 Supreme Court decision. But with all means of self defense you have to think about step 2; how do you get away or keep the treat down. You could use these zip tie handcuffs and make sure to tie persons hands behind them https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3UAZ3B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_UfXTCb4WPP4G4

I am sorry that you have to think about this but the best advice is to go with someone else. If you live in an area where you are allowed to protect yourself with a firearm, get one and get training on how to use it correctly. Your life might depend on it.

I agree with every saying to check the laws in your state. I personally live in the suburbs of a pretty big city in a low crime area. My office is also in a low crime area. I always carry my can of pepper spray and/or a charged taser when I'm walking to my car at night. In my state, you can't conceal-carry a taser, so I'll walk with keys in one hand and taser in the other. So far I've had zero incidents, but you can never be too safe!

You should consider getting pepper spray and a taser for when you aren't at home, first step is to check if they are legal where you are.

If you decide to get pepper spray, this kind is a gel, so you don't have to worry about where the wind is coming from. As for a taser, this one appealed to me because it is designed to make it difficult for it to be taken from you.

u/sylkworm · 1 pointr/videos

I'm assuming you mean something like this, but unfortunately, it's not a great solution. Most stun guns don't work reliably on appendages and as a pain compliance tool, can be resisted by someone with a high pain threshold, thick clothing, or just a shit-load of drugs. I would count it as an improvised weapon, and perhaps if you're able to get it out in time, you may deter someone from attacking you. If you're actually fighting, however, it's a knife-like weapon but far less effective. You have to be square-on in order to hit with both contacts, and hold the stun gun there for maximum effect. Compared to a knife, which can cut very quickly and with glancing cuts, it's very slow and cumbersome.

IMO, pepper spray is probably the most effective, least costly solution. It holds the least legal culpability, can be used safely out of knifing range, can be used against dogs and wild animals, and doesn't require much in the way of training. The typical police-grade pepper spray canister can be purchased for ~$30 or so, and is way more useful.

u/bubonis · 1 pointr/geocaching

Whenever I go out caching, I leave a note saying where I intend on going and what caches I intend on pursuing in roughly the order in which I intend to find them in.

While I'm in the field, I carry a walking stick with me. Mine is made of ash, is about 4' long, and tapers from about 1.5" diameter to about 1" diameter with a slight wedge on the 1" end. In addition to allowing me to easily poke around piles of leaves, push away branches, and knock down stray spider webs in my path, I can also hit a pitched baseball without fear of it splitting or cracking, so someone's skull won't be an issue. (Most baseball bats are made of ash, in fact.) That's my first line of defense. My second is a small handheld taser that I carry with me. (Specifically, this one.) It also functions as a flashlight so I can carry it without looking like I'm armed, and hey, it's a flashlight too.

In a serious situation I also carry a Leatherman with me which has two blades that can open at the same time, back to back, effectively giving me a sort of double-edged knife.

u/jraychris · 1 pointr/trashy

Fun fact: in America at least anyone can buy a low power taser without any ID or background check or anything. They only cost like $20 or $30 for a good one like this one on Amazon. I've thought about ordering one of these cheapo taser flashlights to see if they are remotely decent. Reviews on Amazon seem pretty good, but I have no experience with them.

I do like that it looks like a regular flashlight, and just shining that in someone's face is something that is passive yet ruins their night vision and would be cool to follow up with a taser jab to the neck if they persist in theory.

The old joke among cops and nurses is that "the winner of a knife fight is the one who dies in the hospital".

The legality of stun gun style weapons varies by jurisdiction in Maryland and the pendulum seems to be swinging back toward legalization; Annapolis rescinded their ban and Baltimore doesn't enforce theirs.

Pepper spray is my self defense tool of choice. Can be used without being in arms reach of an assailant. If u want something by the bed, u can get a roll of industrial velcro from the hardware store and pepper spray and attach a pepper spray to the side of ur bed frame or bed side table.

u/sighsorry · 1 pointr/AskReddit

I've come into this late and don't know if anyone's suggested these things yet, but just in case they haven't been I'll go ahead.

I'm glad to hear you've called the police and that they'll be patrolling your area more. In the meantime, you can buy a door brace to ensure your door stays shut while you're home, and pepper spray to keep by your bed. I would also recommend purchasing a pepper spray to keep on your key ring so that you have something on your when you are walking to and from your car.

You could also buy a taser gun, but I have no personal experience with them and could not vouch for them personally like I can for a door jam and pepper spray.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's really scary to not feel safe, especially in your home, which should be a source of comfort for you. Take steps to make yourself feel better protected, and continue to call the police if anything else occurs. Do NOT hesitate to call them. I hope this situation gets taken care of quickly for you.

u/LordKilgar · 1 pointr/BDSMcommunity

Alright, First, Stungun not a taser, tasers are way more dangerous (because of how the electricity arcs between the two contact points). Just to help assuage some of your fears.

Second, your girlfriend might need to ease up about it if you qualify as "terrified" (but hey, I love a little terror for my subs, maybe it's your dynamic, just... check that you are really okay with this, I do a lot of work to establish consent, especially with anything this unnerving).

Now, on to your actual questions.

First, yeah, it sounds awful, but it's a real low amperage so it's fairly safe, and while it will HUUUUURT if done right, most of the time it's not that bad.

I have a similar model to the one above, and if you put it against your skin and trigger it, it hurts, but not nearly what you'd expect, for me it's barely enough to distract me. However, we've discovered if you do it through clothes, the intensity goes up about a hundred fold. THAT hurts BAD. However, it's never done any lasting harm. No burns, no internal damage, no palpatations, anything like that. Predominantly what it's doing is causing a painful constriction of the muscle it's in contact with, inlike a T.A.S.E.R., which runs the current through you between the two probes (in which case having your heart in that path can be REALLY F** BAD).

I'd avoid doing it in bondage, or really even in a constrained position. It's going to cause that muscle to tighten up hard, and apart from some people with some pretty intense training, your natural reaction is going to be impossible to control. If you restrict your movement you increase the likelihood of pulling or tearing something.

Electricity is dangerous, you should be careful no matter what people tell you about it. I suggest you look into general electro-play safety before proceeding with this.

In addition, I stepped up pretty slowly from a violet wand (which are great even if they aren't punchy enough for you, though I'll warn you they are the kind of toy that spends a lot of time in the closet). I then picked up This: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B004S36BTY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and this:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FPE6UN2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And I was careful with using them. I'm hoping at some point to step up to a full cattle prod, but since they aren't intended to be used on humans I want to do more research first.

The smaller uzi pen stun device is a lot of fun actually. While the Vipertek feels like being hit with an electrified sledge hammer, the pen feels like having a long sharp pin driven suddenly into your body.

u/Swindas · 1 pointr/fights

Ok well everyone here is telling you the right thing in going to the cops. I read all the comments and I'm baffled that you think its a bad idea.

That being said, it is still important you do WHATEVER you can to stop someone from hurting you, regardless of the chance you have. If you think this guy is about to burst through your door with flying fists, you must do anything to give you an advantage.

  1. Always be ready to whip out a phone and dial 911. This is the FIRST thing you do AS SOON AS YOU SEE HIM. It doesn't matter what he looks like he'l do... Even if he's holding a bunch of roses, he has already made it absolutely clear that he WILL hurt you.

  2. The second step is to rush him. It sounds terrifying, but that's because it is. Nonetheless, you stand the best chance if you do this. He will be off-guard, or at least more off-guard than he would be if you gave him time to approach you, and this is your best way to gain an advantage early on.

  3. Use that TASER YOU BOUGHT (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007386H86/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B007386H86&linkCode=as2&tag=seldefnin-20) and zap him with 15 million volts of terror as quickly as you can. Like I said, you stand the best chance if you do as much damage as possible before he can react. The best way to do this is perhaps to hide the taser behind your back and fake a wide slapping motion with your opposite arm. He will instinctively guard that side of his body, giving you a small moment to whip that taser from behind you back and jab his exposed ribs/side. It is important you do not stop in front of him to complete this motion; it should be fluent through a single, fast lunging motion. You can practice this.

  4. Leave the immediate area and call the cops if you forgot to do it beforehand. find other people, even if they are strangers (but obviously be aware of stranger danger).

The key here is not to worry about 'getting in trouble,' 'betraying my friends,' or 'being uncool.' The first thing that matters is yourself. The well being of your body is the most important thing, and the consequences are utterly irrelevant in comparison. While there is still the fact that you barely stand a chance, appreciating the likelihood of the event happening out of the blue is your only option if he will ignore a restraining order (which is both very unlikely and very illegal) Let me take this moment to reiterate that contacting the police and doing every confusing thing to get a restraining order put into effect is a solution several orders of magnitude greater than the one I provided. I am telling you how you should be prepared if this fellow does find his way to you.

Here's the main idea: you don't stand a chance, but if you are forced into a bad situation, use a predetermined strategy to rush and zap him with a powerful taser in order to give yourself the biggest advantage. But seriously, in order to give yourself the best chance of staying intact, use your imagination to prevent the fight at all costs. Contact the police, a relative, your neighbors, even something like a church. People will help you find ways to protect yourself. Until this crazy situation is sorted out, you should not focus on anything else at all, including school, work, concerts, sports. The ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS YOUR WELFARE. That's the bottom line.
u/kindamostlyharmless · 1 pointr/videos

I read a post a while back of a girl with a crazy stalker, she had restraining orders but the police couldn't do much about it legally. She ended up getting a gun and shot him when he broke into her place at night. I don't know where you live or if you'd be comfortable with a gun, but definitely getting some sort of self protection is essential. Also a restraining order type thing if you haven't already.

You could also try a taser, this one is SUPER loud and scary to where if anything happens just the sound might be enough. It also has bars on the sides to where if he tries to grab it it will tase him.
