Croakies are fantastic. I wear them doing anything from hiking to mountain bike and they've always held on. They really help your glasses fit up nice and snug. Inexpensive and you don't have to worry about multiple pairs of glasses.

u/Genericwizardguy · 8 pointsr/malefashionadvice

If that first photo is a shot of you wearing them, then no. They have no definition, that combined with the fact that they look quite small makes your face look a bit fat.

You've got a rounder jaw, so you want something with sharper lines, otherwise it'll make your jawline look pudgy. Try something with more substance framewise and a bit larger in size. Sidenote: I really recommend against Aviators for you as well. (Also, style that hair man!)

You've touched on one of my biggest frustrations of getting old: fumbling with reading glasses. The following discussion is anything but cool. No laughing or judgment from my millennial colleagues. And stay off of my damned lawn!

What I eventually landed on were bifocal or progressive reading glasses. When I get really busy behind the bar, I put them on and leave them on. You want a smaller pair (ie no aviators) so you can easily look over and under the glasses while wearing them. If all you need is help with tiny print, get a bifocal pair. If you have issues with mid-distance as well, like reading the the POS, get the progressives. The bifocals work great for me. Another option is half-frame or slim readers. They're easy to look over, under and around. This is what I keep at home for reading. A simple Amazon or Google search should turn up hundreds of options. And if you really want to look like a geek, pick up a glasses chain, rope or strap (especially if you work beach or poolside). I often use one, or I'm forever searching for my readers when I need them.

All of these option take a shift or two to get used to. So don't start out on a crazy weeded night. It was a fairly quick adjustment for me and I rarely even notice them anymore, only that I can see what I need to, when I need to.

~Good luck

I bought [Croakies] ( about 3 years ago for a Universal Trip and strongly recommend. The strap held on strongly and comfortably for the entirety of the Universal trip, two swim classes since then, and a full year of regular wear (I got a pair of glasses that were too heavy of a frame and they would basically fall off my face if I looked down for too long). I like that you can fit these close to your head, so the strap isn't just hanging off the glasses, but rather snugly secured.

u/TheBigEgg · 3 pointsr/bicycling

I wear glasses all the time when I bike. I used to wear contacts, but stopped when my eyes got too sensitive. I use a strap like this with my normal glasses, and they work well to keep my glasses from slipping down my face. Just make sure the arms of your glasses are thin enough to fit through the sleeves.

I just got the New Wayfarers for $105 on Amazon.

u/raisinbrandt · 2 pointsr/ElectricForest

I just bought these today. I have a wide head and buying rx glasses sucks, but I have no idea how these will fit, so we'll see! lol. If you see one that's specifically made wide, I'd be interested in finding out!

u/OssiansFolly · 2 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

Here is a nice Amazon listing.

I only provide this as the one linked in the article doesn't have nearly as many variety packs and the pricing seems a tad better because of it!

u/antiward · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

These are my go to, they're pretty sturdy but cheap enough that if I forget a pair somewhere or there is serious trauma and one breaks, it's not a big deal. And I can just toss one in my bag and car so there's always a pair around.

These are amazing to me. I didnt even know I had eye strain until I put them on for the first time and a sensation in the back of my eye which I was not aware of, went away. It was eye strain.

I have seen the opposite of this done for privacy glasses. Basically, it's a monitor with one of the polarizing screens taken out and fashioned into lenses. Only a person wearing glasses with the missing polarizer as lenses can see the screen of that monitor.

u/akhbhat · 2 pointsr/flying

I have the AO Original Pilot in various sizes (55 mm in the airplane so I can tilt them up without breaking the seal on my headset, and 52 mm for normal street wear) and strongly recommend them. Same exact model/style issued as standard to military and NASA aviators for decades. They normally retail for around $99 but I've gotten multiple pairs off Amazon within the past year for as little as $56 with two day shipping.

They're not "cheap" but are still considerably cheaper than Ray-Bans (especially at the $50-70 price point) for what I think is frankly superior quality. Personally, since nothing in aviation is cheap anyhow, I'm more interested in value and these deliver.

Note: I'm sure you know that you probably don't want polarized lenses, especially if you're flying glass.

u/mcjuansters · 2 pointsr/streetlightmanifesto

I've worn glasses to many different concerts in the past and haven't had any issues. However I have in the past used a strap to keep them on my face when playing sports, so perhaps that may be something to consider. Here's an amazon link to such a strap They're not the greatest fashion statement, but they're really functional.

u/riley212 · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

American Optics these feel way more solid than my brother in laws thin framed raybans. they come in different sizes get the same mm size as your wayfarer's. The square style looks less "cop-ish" than the tear drop ones

Welcome to a Marlboro free world my friend! I'm almost 7 months nicotine free. Pretty proud of that. It does get easier, I swear!

u/CatelynNavaar · 2 pointsr/LSD

Here’s a general list. It changes if I’m going into a concert venue vs being at someone’s house.

Trip bag:

Crystal kaleidoscopic glasses - purchased mine from a local consignment store but here’s an example: glasses

Diffraction glasses - these work better with stars or lasers: paper glasses

Bandana/fabric tube mask x3

Essential oils (cinnamon, rose, eucalyptus, orange, and white lotus balm)

Candy (hi chews are the best, gummy bears work in a pinch)

Weighted blanket (small lap pad sized, about 3lbs, I made mine)

Pashmina (I take mine everywhere pretty much anyways)

Notebooks and pens/pencils

Tarot or Oracle cards - my friends and I like to use them during our trips to enhance the self revelation part of tripping

Glow sticks - tie them on some shoe laces and spin them, thank me later

Flow toys (I have poi and used to have light up hula hoops)

Powder dough (baby oil and flour) and salt dough (DIY)

Something cold (usually a canned drink, sometimes ice packs)

Actual Ray-Bans, polarized, are $109 on amazon. If you still have your 20% off shoe/accessory newsletter code that will work as well to bring them to like $87.

Black polarized rb2132 are going on amazon for 113 and you can use the 20% off shoe coupon. Here's the link

Also Nordstrom rack and Saks off 5th has them cheap sometimes

Amazon. There is a retailer that has 100s of types of sunglasses (I'll link when I get the chance). The price range is from $2-6 so I usually buy 10 pairs at a time. I look at them as almost disposable sunglasses. They are cheap and break easily but I have so many choices to match any situation and can replace them for less than ten bucks.

Edit: I kinda lied they sometimes are $7 or $8 bucks bit they go on sale all the time -

u/caraeeezy · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I would suggest catching something at the Comedy Cellar. There are some famous comedians that make random appearances there!

Also, these would rule because it is becoming nice outside!

sho nuff, buttercup! What's rad about these is that they offer a couple of different choices of lens colors!

  1. These sunglasses, because after too much, you're gonna need them the next morning.

  2. This relates, because after I use it, I'll need the riddle item to get rid of the ashes left.

  3. What goes better than a man with the riddle item? If he has a well groomed beard, too.

  4. This is the fastest starfighter in the Rebel fleet, therefore it can really book it.

  5. It can also be called a foot locker, and these go on your feet. Ta-da!

Bonus: This shirt relates, because Rockets blast off from Cape Canaveral. :D
u/DashingGoodlooks · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I got the polarized tortoise ones, and they have the RB etched into the lens and came in a ray ban box, I'm 99.9% sure the ones I have are real.

EDIT: It seems like the price has gone up a little bit for them though, mine were $109.99+ tax.

u/Crazed_Gentleman · 1 pointr/frugalmalefashion

I'm gonna throw out these, since I always lose sunglasses. Very cheap and affordable, which even my Ray Bans weren't. Polarspex

u/civex · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Like these? Eight bucks.

u/FirstmateJibbs · 1 pointr/bassnectar

If you don't want the goggles you can also look up just normal diffraction glasses cause that's what I use, although they don't stay on when you're headbanging but it doesn't really matter. Just know if you get a really nice glass pair they're heavy. My favorites are like these cause they're quality diffraction but not heavy/nice enough to where you're blown if you lose them

u/macklin67 · 1 pointr/marvelstudios
u/ThirstyEar2 · 1 pointr/Coachella

I like my Polarspex. They are cheap, polarized, and come in a ton of different colors.

u/PublicSealedClass · 1 pointr/pics

The pattern's not quite right, but the keywords are all there I guess:

Otherwise keep googling for 'tortoise shell blues brothers shades'.

EDIT: - bit more accurate. Nice price tag.

EDITEDIT: Rayban New Wayfarer is what you wanna search for:

Well Gospy55! We have a love for max brooks, gummies, sunglasses, and xbox games! My favorite on your list would have to be this
because those are some sweet looking glasses! On my list.. these because no one at work gets my nerd jewelry and I love it. lol I chose the items I chose because I also see you are a musician and I used to study sound engineering, as well as work for a record label. However, I think most people have music in common so I went with the sunglasses and gears of war because we are stylish fun gamers :)
