Yeah I make sure to clean the removable filter every summer before use.
Seems like I'd need to buy lots of canned air considering the size of the unit and how long I've never cleaned it (11 years or more)
I'm thinking considering how long it's been unserviced, there's dense moist gunk within it I wouldn't know how to get about reaching without taking parts of the case off.
This is what I'm working with except instead of 8,000 BTU it's either 12,000 or 16,000
It's 74 pounds and 24Wx14Hx20D dimensions
Is it too big for canned air to do the job?
You are looking at a packaged terminal air conditioner (PTAC).

The GEs are still made today. You should have no problem finding a replacement unit that will fit the existing wall sleeve.
Those replacement units are much more energy efficient (R-22 vs R410a) and considerably quieter:

Thanks for replying so quickly! The AC unit is a Koldfront WTC14012WCO230V 14,000 BTU 230 Through The Wall AC. The plug on it is a Tandem, but the outlet in our new apartment is for Parallel plugs.
Edit: We got it on Amazon and the answered questions says it has a LCDI 6-15P (NEMA) plug.
