A good sink.

We do a lot of "meat and three" types of meals, which means we tend to make a lot of dirty dishes (at least compared to an average TH dweller). A 20" bar sink would not cut it for us, but we were able to find at 26" two-basin sink that lets dishes soak in the larger basin and rinse off over the smaller basin. Also, we kept the routed piece of butcher block that we cut out for the sink insert, and just drop it back in place over the sink if we want to hid the dishes or have extra counter space.

Appliance wise, +1 on the convection toaster oven. We bought [one that's big enough] (https://www.amazon.com/Oster-TSSTTVXLDG-Digital-Toaster-Stainless/dp/B004USWRA4/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1465581645&sr=8-9&keywords=oster+convection+oven) for a 9x13" casserole dish, and haven't missed having a full-size oven yet. We opted for a two-burner propane range for two reasons:

  1. Propane burners make it easier for us to run the whole house on 20 amps!
  2. Mounted fore-and-aft, a two burner range doesn't take up more counter space than a plug-in single burner. Though you do give up that counter space permanently.

We have a slow cooker, which is as useful as slow cookers ever are, but I'm not sure if we're going to keep it long term. For one, it's big. And aside from super low-effort stuff like throwing a pork shoulder+can of coke in there in the morning before work, there's not a lot the slow cooker does that I can't do with an oven and range.

Nooooo! Leftover fries are really good if you chop them up, throw in some bits of onion and green pepper, and fry that mess up in a pan. (I would never have known that if not for being well acquainted with the most Scottish people one could possibly meet outside of Scotland.)

You can also refresh them by stirring them around whole in a pan or putting them in the oven for a bit and then using them for poutine, where you expect a soggy fry after not too long.

Both options work well enough that if I go to a chip wagon with first-rate fries I deliberately over-order...

Alternatively: infra-red oven. I have one; it makes leftover fried foods totally edible, and does a fabulous job on frozen fried stuff. Like this.

> very compact toaster that doesn't take a lot of counter space.

Do you ever cook or bake anything else? French fries, reheat pizza, chicken fingers, etc?

How about an under cabinet or shelf mounted toaster oven? It would have multiple uses and not take up counter space:

Nope. Most modern ranges that are above the base price points are convection ovens. For example

Note the keyword there, "countertop". That one is closer to an air fryer, though likely with slower moving air. That is not "typical" at all, but that is one small subset of the convection oven market. Probably 75% of convection ovens are built in, and then the next largest segment would be built in to microwaves. The countertop toaster oven modes are relatively uncommon.

My apartment doesn't have an oven, so I've been getting by with my small toaster. Since I like to batch cook, I'd been considering replacing it with this (best model name ever BTW) as it's one of the largest units available, but kept putting it off due to the cost. Went to a neighborhood yard sale last week and found this unit, 9/10 condition, for $5. It's slightly smaller, but it does have two racks, it's convection, and it was five freaking dollars.

Delaying purchases for the right deal to come along really does work!

Greeting Reddit, this is the best $180 you'll spend all year: Breville 650XL Compact Smart Oven of the Gods.

Enjoy!

u/thelivinlegend · 8 pointsr/recipes

I have one of these. It has air fryer, bake, broil, toast, convection, and warm functions. I bought it while waiting for a replacement element for my full sized oven, but now I only use the full size for large jobs. I can't compare this one to other air fryers, but I think the basket is larger than the round ones and I'm extremely happy with it.

u/imjesshen · 7 pointsr/BuyItForLife

Totally agree! I currently have the smaller Breville and couldn't be happier with it!

I need to weigh in that the dryer method is not only dangerous but also really embarrassing. I had the unfortunate experience of trying to explain to the local fire marshall and property management why I had started a fire in a common area. In the end we agreed to disagree and I moved to a different unit that had a washer and dryer in the unit.

I didn’t want to risk another dispute with the property management and decided to find a better solution. I used to do research and development and helped create several products you may commonly use today. With my background and experience I undertook this challenge in finding a way to properly warm my daipers. I experimented with many different ideas and solutions and ultimately came up with the “hot pocket method”. I know it sounds absurd but hear me out and your life will be changed forever.

Step 1:
30/45 minutes before you are ready to change take your diaper and wrap it in aluminum foil like a hot pocket. I suggest using the Reynolds’s heavy duty wrap ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00OBGVUQM/ ) , I attempted to use the Walmart brand and it resulted in another embarrassing dispute with property management. And let’s be honest if you have even a single fiber or moral compass you won’t support Walmart. (Support your local small businesses please).

Step 2:
Set your toaster oven to broil and set a timer for 17 minutes and place the pocket directly in the center. Again I’ve tested this with multiple products and endorse the Breville BOV650XL ( https://www.amazon.com/Breville-BOV650XL-Compact-Smart-Stainless/dp/B00357YS3A/ )

Step 3:
After the 17 minutes has completed remove the pocket from the appliance and allow to cool for 15-20 minutes.

Step 4: unwrap and enjoy

u/Sickora · 5 pointsr/Cooking

I have this Panasonic I love it. Small, fast, and uses infrared heat. Not at the $50 mark but also not nearly as expensive as a Breville. I use it 4-5x a week.

u/Lefthandedsock · 5 pointsr/oddlysatisfying

Not that much. Probably less than a Denmark style 6 slice toaster.

I love my Breville toaster oven. I might use it more than my fullsize oven...

u/earlgirl · 4 pointsr/LifeProTips

Yeah, I don't know how some people live without a toaster oven. We almost never need to use our big oven for anything.

Toaster ovens are usually pretty quick, but if you want it to be even faster, get one that heats up with infrared light. This is one of the best things I ever bought (40% faster than a regular toaster oven).

u/metallikcherries · 4 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I would normally agree with you until I discovered this bad mamma jamma

I never thought I could love a toaster so much, but.. here we are. 10/10 good ass toaster.

I have something little like this and it works just as well as the pricier ones. Either that or resale shops may have one. Good luck!

u/josh-i · 4 pointsr/PrintedCircuitBoard

I bought a toaster oven and the ControlLeo Kit. But I haven't modded it yet. I just put the boards in and baked with convection... after about 4-5 minutes, they are ready.

Here's the oven I purchased on amazon:

Cuisinart CSO-300N. Build quality is a bit chintzy for a $260 object (got it on sale for $160,) but it works remarkably well.

Cold roast beef procedure is to take a ~3lb rump roast, trim as much fat as possible, season (and preferably allow to sit overnight,) and steam-broil at ~300F for about ten minutes followed by steaming at 175F until the center hits 130 - about an hour. It's pretty similar to how it's produced commercially.

You get about 1/4" of well-done beef with perfect even rare all the way through. If you're on a diet, it's fantastic.

u/Jessie_James · 3 pointsr/gadgets

Cuisinart makes a similar (perhaps) version here.

u/raaams · 3 pointsr/blogsnark

I am OBSESSED with my air fryer. Everything gets cooked in it. I have this one that doubles as a toaster oven (since counter space is valuable in my apartment) and it's just incredible. Easily my favorite kitchen appliance.

u/takingthedtrain · 3 pointsr/blogsnark

I feel like this is a classic "me" thing -- I tend to choose things that are aesthetically pleasing over the best-reviewed choice. I love the Smeg line and definitely stroked all the different appliances at a fancy store one time. So I would've ignored those reviews too.

That being said, I have a very nice toaster oven that I can recommend. The only weird thing about it is that when the toast is done, it emits a very high-pitched beeping noise. The first time it did it I thought it was the fire alarm going off!

u/Serf99 · 3 pointsr/gadgets

The value of the induction system is that the metal surface that the food lays gets hot rather than having heated coils with a fan that moves hot air around of the traditional convection system.

The advantages is direct heat being applied to the food much like a stove top; convection systems tend to dry out the food as it takes longer to get to the interior of what you are cooking (which is why you do compensative measures like basting or putting foil over the food). Also traditional convection ovens take longer for heat to radiate through larger foods; which is why you often have cool or cold centers.

This oven also has an infrared system to cook the surface of the food (while the induction system cooks from the bottom). This is likely from Panasonic's FlashXpress line of ovens that is currently on the market (which uses ceramic for near infrared and quartz for far infrared).

It should lead to shorter cook times and moister foods, however, the traditional convection oven is still likely better where cooking with hot air is needed. Such as many types of frozen foods (fries, chicken nuggests, etc.). Not to mention being an order of magnitude cheaper.

u/d6stringer · 3 pointsr/Cooking

Might have included that in the first place ;)

Wouldn't a countertop oven be better than a bread machine? More expensive sure but oh to have an oven!

> A convection oven costs more, has more internal area (more space to heat) and just seems more wasteful compared to an air fryer.

The saying goes: buy once, cry once. I have this convection oven and would not hesitate to buy an higher end model if I had to buy it again. Yes its not as good as having a dedicated toaster or dedicated air fryer, but it's pretty damn good at being a compact oven replacement that takes only a minute to warm up.

I use it for literally everything that will fit: making toast, baking a single tray of cookies, baking pies, reheating pizza, keeping foods warm or making beef jerky (use 200°F with the door cracked open), very easily making perfectly cooked bacon without splattering grease everywhere, etc...

A Philips Airfryer is $169 on Amazon, my cheapie convection toaster was like $50 and does all those things mentioned above... Just put that air fryer money on getting the high end Breville Convection Toaster. How often do you need to reheat fries or chicken nuggets anyway?

u/not_a_boat_thief · 3 pointsr/BuyItForLife

That one is much bigger than the panasonic. Might be better to compare it to the mini version of the same breville smart oven, which is only 150 and comparable size.

I leave my stone at the bottom of our gas oven at all times, never had a problem. Heats more evenly, but adds at least 10 minutes to pre-heat time compared to normal. No problem, I only use my oven for making home made pizza. Baked chicken, roasted veggies, casseroles, etc. all happen in my toaster oven anyway.

By the way, I never knew I would love a toaster oven as much as I do, and I never thought I would use it every day, but I do. This is the one I have and it's amazing, lots more baked dishes, helps us eat healthier at home, and it preheats in like 90 seconds!!!! -->

u/shadmere · 2 pointsr/toasterovenmasterrace

I honestly don't know, for that price point. Over the course of a couple years, I had several toasters ovens that cost between $50 and $80 barely work at all, break, or actually catch fire. I only found one that seems to work really well and haven't heard anyone having problems, and it's this Breville. Out of your price range, but I really think it's likely to last a lot longer than an 80 dollar one.

Good luck! You might just end up having a lot better luck than I had. Maybe those toasters weren't all crap and I just kept getting lemons, haha.

u/Aerrowae · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Alright so I'm home now and looking around my apartment. You need this specific Fabuloso in your life with a spray bottle from the dollar store. A toaster oven because you can stick bread in it with toppings! I could never live without a toast oven again...lol. DO you have all your utensils and plenty of dish towels, bath towels and oven mits. Do you have plenty of lamps (this apartment and my last apartment lacked lighting)

u/GaryBishop · 2 pointsr/Breadit

Go cheap. I really like my super cheap B&D toaster toaster oven. You'll have to experiment with times and temperatures but this oven will do the job for way less and with less bother than the LCD+Clock+Digital competition.

u/Summer95 · 2 pointsr/Frugal

It's good that you're paying attention to these things and trying to learn how to reduce the cost. Just a technical point - the usage of power is measured in kWh, kilowatt hours. In electricity consumption, kW is the rate of consumption of electricity. Some companies charge based your maximum kW, ie, what was the maximum instantaneous load you put on the system.

Your biggest problem is your rate. I live in Texas where electricity has been deregulated and I'm able to shop around for my electricity. I pay about $0.094/kWh plus a distribution fee and a flat monthly fee. The distribution (goes to the company that owns the wires) is just a few dollars. The flat fee is $9.99. I also get a credit of $9.99 for using over 1000 kWh in the month. A recent bill was for 1257 kWh so the cost was $123.56. That works out to about $0.0983/kWh total cost. Your usage of 1384 kWh at that rate would be $136. Clearly you're rate is way to high.

Things you can do are:

1 - Replace all your incandescent bulbs with fluorescent bulbs like this. This bulb has the equivalent output of a 60 watt bulb, but only consumes 13 watts, so less than one-fourth the electricity. There is an upfront cost in buying the bulbs, but they have a much longer life (10,000 hours) versus 1000 to 2000 for a typical incandescent bulb.

2 - Check the temperature setting on your hot water heater. Most units allow you to adjust the setting. If the hot water burns you, it's to hot.

3 - Use a small toaster oven instead of a large oven. Way less power usage.

4 - Look at you other appliances and try to figure out what's using the electricity. Use Ohm's Law which is watts = volts x amps to roughly calculate the watts. For example, a 120 volt light bulb that draws 0.5 amps uses 60 watts. An electric hot water heater is usually 240 volts at about 18 to 20 amps, so about 4500 kW.

5 - Reduce your usage during the peak rate periods if possible. As someone else pointed out, that's usually 4 pm to 8 pm. If you work during that time, turns thing off so you're using as little as possible. Or plan to be somewhere else. Run your errands, visit friends, go to the park. Don't be at home using power.

u/rhinahime · 2 pointsr/food

It's basically a small oven with a toasting setting. Check out Amazon.

u/uerb · 2 pointsr/cynicalbritofficial

My mother bought one before me, so I had tasted the food "fried" with it before buying one. I have this model, but I don't think that it exists in the US. It's not the same model or brand as hers (she lives in another country), but mine and hers have so many similar elements that I'm sure that it's the same thing but with a different exterior shell.

The principle behind all air fryers is the same: superheat the air and blast it on the food. What changes from model to model (other than build quality) is the power (higher is better) and the frying compartment. Nowadays you have some like this one. More expensive, but more versatile and it also works as an oven.

About the taste of the food: despite all the ads, don't expect it to be the same thing as deep frying. The food is a lot more crunchy and tasty than frozen fried stuff heated with a convection oven, and you can do some stuff that end up too greasy with with deep frying (like the ribs), but it's not the same thing as deep frying - the oil entering the food makes a difference.

For me it was worth it. The food ends up healthier than deep frying, but still good and crunchy enough (adding flour really helps with the crunchiness). It's a good alternative if you want to lose some weight and / or reduce the amount of fat that you are eating, but don't want to eat chicken breasts every single day.

u/ErisC · 2 pointsr/LifeProTips

I have the knock off version of this because I did not already have a toaster oven and didn’t want a single use appliance if I could have a multi-use option. I am really happy with it.

u/sandepants · 2 pointsr/ffxiv

If you get one of those large toaster ovens the pre-heat is much faster :)

u/wrapunzel · 2 pointsr/beyondthebump

Ok so I did baby led weaning rather than homemade purée, but I think my system would work for you too.

Big batches of something I cooked had half or more frozen flat in either a gallon bag or multiple smaller bags depending on how fast I thought I'd use it up. Other portion I wanted to use fresh went in a large storage container in the fridge.

I have this set of storage bowls, Anchor Hocking Storage Set with Lids, a set of these Libbey Glass Bowl Set with Plastic Lids and one of these ovens Oster Countertop Digital Convection Toaster Oven

So basically food went from the big Tupperware to a smaller bowl that was also what I heated it in (if needed). If there were leftovers in the little bowl, I just stuck a lid on it and used it for the next feeding.

u/sbddude · 2 pointsr/perktv

Id recommend this one. We have it and it's s much nicer than any other I've tried.

u/TrixieKixx · 2 pointsr/xxketo4u2

Yes! Yes! Yes! I swear, you will not regret it! Which one you thinking of getting? We actually have two separate ones. We have the Cuisinart Convection Toaster Oven (I bought this for hubby for our fourth wedding anniversary...he bought me a Vitamix) and this is the Air Fryer we have. I highly recommend getting the biggest one you can :) My BFF bought me the Air Fryer plus the Accessories for Christmas last year.

My coworker has been raving about a Cuisinart air fryer that has toaster oven settings. Tbh, looks like a toaster oven with an air frying setting. Unfortunately there's not too many options out there.

Black and Decker sells an under the cabinet toaster oven that may save you some space. Pretty slick looking too. I'm surprised these aren't commonplace from other manufacturers.

Some people have been successful at creating their own wall enclosures for a "built in" style, but I cannot recommend this due the obvious fire hazard.

Other that that, I think you're stuck with a double oven.

Example.

It's like a regular broiler oven with heat elements on both the top and bottom (selectable), but in a small countertop version. Great for making small things other than toast.

My favorite is pizza muffins: Cut English muffin in half, pre-toast a little. Add pizza sauce, parmesan cheese, American or mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni slices. Put in broiler or toaster oven and cook until the cheese is bubbly. Final (and most important) step: Eat before they have had a chance to properly cool, and scorch the shit out of the roof of your mouth.

We got this one when we got married 4 years ago, and it's still going strong after almost daily use. We live in a small apartment and are generally cooking for 2, so it's the perfect size for us.

It gets hot, but that's what toaster ovens are supposed to do. Not sure what other safety concerns there might be?

I did a lot of reading and deliberating when I bought my toaster oven roughly 5 years ago, and I am very happy with the choice I made.

I am a hobbyist chef and I use this thing almost every day. Seriously take a look. I think it's better than Breville's offerings, and I'm generally a fan of Breville appliances.

u/GuyInAChair · 1 pointr/Cooking

I just bought a new one to replace my Panasonic Flash Xpress not because it was broken, but because there is a newer version of it HERE it seems to be exclusive to Walmart, at the moment. I did cook some toast, and it turned out well, 2 min 30 in a cold oven, the next batch was a little under 2. I found the rack needs to be in the middle to produce even toasting on both sides, the bottom rack is to hot on the bottom. To copy my own post from last night.

Just to let you know, I found one of the new ones at Walmart so I bought it.

Thus far so good, I bought a cheap loaf of bread just to test it and all the toast turned out good. I tried them both side by side, and they take the exact amount of time, and it's difficult to tell the pieces of toast apart, exactly the same. The controls are better, but still require a few more button pushes then I would like. I put an oven thermometer in it and turned it on at 350 for 10 minutes and the thermometer read 360, which is pretty good.

It has an adjustable rack and a pan which fits in the slots, something the old one didn't have. The interior is a dark(er) non-stick which should keep it at least looking cleaner then the old one. It's significantly bigger as well, and while I can't fit a full sized lasagna pan in it I can fit my half sized casserole dishes which won't fit in the old one, and I would guess a full broiler chicken would fit as well.

The bottom IR "lights" have been replaced with standard metal conducting coils, but on the top side there are now 3 IR lights as opposed to the one before. The timer now goes up to 2 hours as opposed to the 25 minutes of the last one. It also has a convection fan, which moves air around and it very quiet, not something I got to use yet but it's there.

I have dinner plans tonight otherwise I would have bought a frozen lasagna or something just to test it, but thus far I really like it. Enough that I have premtivly packed the flash xpress into a box to give away to a friend.

Hope this finds you well, and I'm sorry about a reply to such an old post, I was searching reddit for info on the new toaster oven when I stumbled on one of my old comments.

Buy one of those smaller, countertop ovens, like https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-TOB-260N1-Convection-Toaster-Stainless/dp/B01M0AWSJX?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2 . When you don't have huge fridges/freezers to store leftovers and buy ingredients for your meals every day or two instead of stocking up weekly, you don't need a huge oven. Anerican-style Thanksgiving turkeys ain't exactly in style everywhere.

u/rodion_kjd · 1 pointr/AskCulinary

It will be edible and that's about it. You need some direct heat on there to get color and crisp up that delicious skin. I don't think you need to worry about staining the walls and, if you're really, really worried about it grab one of these from Amazon or your local retailer: http://www.amazon.com/Norpro-2060-13-Inch-Splatter-Screen/dp/B004C26ON4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416339734&sr=8-1&keywords=splatter+guard

Another option would be to get yourself a toaster oven. They're great for single people or people with very limited space. I have one of these and, if I'm only cooking for me and my girlfriend, will use it instead of my full sized oven: http://www.amazon.com/Breville-BOV650XL-Compact-1800-Watt-Toaster/dp/B00357YS3A/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1416339840&sr=1-2&keywords=toaster+oven+breville

I just bought this

https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-TOA-60-Convection-Toaster-Silver/dp/B01K0W8LTE

I like it. They had one twice the size at best buy for 400

That's weird. Where do you live?

Toaster ovens can be bought at damned near any store (that carries kitchen appliance-y things) for about $20 in the US. I've used the same $20 toaster oven for about ten years, and it still works fine (it's getting pretty ugly with age, but is still functional). They aren't difficult to find; any store that sells kitchen appliances, even just a small selection of them, will have at least a couple of toaster ovens on the shelves. Walmart, Target, etc. all usually carry a few toaster ovens beside the toasters. I could have a new one in ten minutes in any city in the country, if mine broke and I had a toasting emergency.

Amazon has a decent looking one here for $22. There's cheaper even than that, but it's a brand I don't know, so wouldn't want to recommend it. Oster makes pretty good stuff, and it has good reviews.

Sure, you can spend more, but if you spend over $50 you should get one with convection oven features; that's about the low price point for a decent convection/toaster oven in the US. A convection oven has an air circulating fan that makes things cook (even) faster and more evenly. I plan to get a convection model next time I replace my toaster oven, so I'll spend over $50, but you definitely don't have to. Amazon has this beauty for only $54.

Man, I really like toaster ovens. I can't believe I'm still ranting about toaster ovens on the internet.

Here's the American version.

https://www.amazon.com/Nostalgia-BSET300AQ-BSET300BLUE-Breakfast-Station/dp/B01F5D10TG/ref=asc_df_B01F5D10TG/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167155690034&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13238540709854922345&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032766&hvtargid=pla-315825924141&psc=1

If you don't like coffee, I suppose you could use the coffee maker to heat water for tea. The toaster oven would be perfect for odd sized/shaped bread slices or you could toast a cheese sandwich in it. You could do a fry up on the griddle.

I wouldn't get one, though. It seems like it would be difficult to clean.

Cuisinart TOA-60. Goes on sale for about $140 from time to time, check SlickDeals.

My only complaint is the timer knob is stiff as hell when turning it off. Other reviewers mentioned snapping it off. I can see that happening if you're rough with it. Also, the timer is kind of inaccurate, but that doesn't bother me too much. The window with light is a huge plus.

u/ChefM53 · 1 pointr/Cooking

oh, crap! can you maybe look into a toaster oven? it would be safer until you can get the big oven fixed. that seems like a fire hazard.

I have one kind of like this but mine also has a rotisserie function

IMHO I can't justify spending $600 on a counter top oven. I've got this one. Oster Extra Large Digital Countertop Convection Oven, Stainless Steel (TSSTTVDGXL-SHP) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00OXSR486/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_hyJ6BbEWG7CFJ and I like it. It was only 100$ when I bought it about a year ago. 600$ to add some fancy features that may or may not work. I just can't justify the extra 500$

Toaster oven: I always suggest Cuisinart. They make a good small kitchen appliance. Reliable, and while more expensive than others, it's worth it.

Microwave: You may never have time to cook an actual meal.

Cooking utensils: Calphalon Nylon. Good value.

Crockpot: Showing up on a lot of suggestions. A mini will serve you well unless you're feeding large quantities of people.

Dish rack, a sturdy (large) trash can, laundry bags and smart storage, and kitchen shears.

I've found I can find better products that last longer than the ones you find in stores. For example the toaster ovens you get in stores are typically terrible and break pretty quick. I found this awesome Panasonic one http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-NB-G110P-Xpress-Toaster-Silver/dp/B008C9UFDI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382750852&sr=8-1&keywords=panasonic+toaster+oven

It is more expensive than some cheap models but I've had it over 10 years now and it works like a champ and I use it several times a day.

Target deal: https://www.target.com/p/cuisinart-air-fryer-toaster-oven-toa-60tg/-/A-53760593

Go to target to pick one up. Have the cashier adjust the price to match Amazon's, which is $124.99 (~$145 minus $20 amazon coupon that shows under the item) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K0W8LTE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Mh1XDbSHVEDZ7

Get a free $75 Target gift card with your purchase (as seen online) and, if your store is also offering a $30 gift card with purchase like mine was, get that, too.

We got this one for our wedding 5 and a half years ago and use it almost every day, love it. Easy to clean and relatively even heating. I make everything from broiled fish to banana bread to 12 inch frozen pizzas in it.

u/snutr · 1 pointr/Cooking

Also can be done on the grill. I can't see buying a waffle iron just for this. Pan method, grill method, oven method, stone method -- they all work just fine. If I were going to buy a special piece of equipment, I'd buy something that could do more than just waffles and pizza -- like a toaster/broiler or one with a rotisserie so you could cook a multitude of things and not just waffles, pressed sandwiches and unconventional pizza.

u/some_random_kaluna · 1 pointr/firstworldproblems

You need a convection oven. Fiddle with the placement of the racks and you can fit pizza, lasanga, bread pans and even an entire roast in there.

This model is even cheap, so you can make your boss feel bad by asking for the money to buy a new one.

u/wovenweb · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon
  1. I have no idea about toasters and I'm useless, typically when I buy appliances I go to CL.. you can get really nice appliances for extremely cheap! researching before you buy usually prevents any issues-

when I was looking for toasters for you I found this weird USBhub shaped like a toaster

but I highly recommend a toaster with a toaster oven because those are extremely useful!! like this one

  2. I love huge vinyl wall decals in the shapes of trees or some such pleasing thing...like these

    and these

  3. I love surprises so surprise me? :D

a new place is so exciting! I love filling in all the little details, I can't wait to have a place of my own to do these sorts of things haha. what is your new home like?
u/DamnYouRandMcNally · 1 pointr/personalfinance

I bought mine at Fry’s electronics because they had a crazy deal at the time ($140), but it looks like you can get my exact model on amazon for $185. I needed a toaster oven and came across this. It’s basically a mini-oven and It’s awesome.

I barely use my full-size oven anymore because this one is so much better.

u/NYCMAC90 · 1 pointr/MealPrepSunday

So you’d take the air fryer over the Cuisinart convection oven air fryer and the Cuisinart Griddler/panini machine? If so, then what air fryer do you recommended? I was looking at one of these 2:

u/tresser · 1 pointr/gadgets

looks like it's using the same heating elements my toaster is using, just finding a way to use steam

u/bonestamp · 1 pointr/AskReddit

Yes, it's an infrared convection oven. It's basically the same thing Subway uses to "toast" subs. You can buy smaller ones for your home too.

Convection Ovens are typically the smaller ones that can sit on your counter and don't require any preheating. (US)

Edit: So for whatever reason I'm getting downvoted? Yet here is exactly what I'm talking about:
