This should be obvious, but do yourself a favor and just grab a pack of Poncho's off amazon or at Target/Walmart for as cheap as you can get while retaining quality. The overly frugal might be able to stretch these a few days too with good useage and they can be easily pitched once the trip is over. That, versus attempting to get last second, obscenely priced ponchos at the parks, needs to be priority number one, because, at some point, you will get stuck in the rain.

We used disposable ponchos and they were great. They store really well and they don't cost a ton.
We have used reusable ones in the past, but they get all wet and we end up leaving them at the hotel to dry, defeating their purpose.

The idea of binding pages of various materials is not a viable approach at least not in the traditional sense. Perfect Binding has it limitations, There may be some way to do it manually. The other issue with book form is the various sizes and thickness of your suggested contents and the fact that a book is rigid....
Anyway, it wont work as a bound book. Cool idea but difficult and expensive to produce especially when a bag our pouch would do the same thing.
This Survival Kit. My old stuff is expiring or aging and since I live in a potentially dangerous area, care for 2 elderly parents and babysit my nephew a lot, I'd like to update my gear.
We use to take nice panchos, but they are a bit bulky to carry in a bag all the time just in case of rain. Now we by 5 packs of cheap ones off amazon, which take up as much space as just one good poncho, that way we can just toss them after using or if they rip.

I just got back this morning after a weekend trip. It was HOT. Heat index Sunday was 102F/38C. It rained 2-3 times each day over the weekend. But the rain just made things more humid. Dress light, stay hydrated and rest when you can.
EDIT: I hate the Disney Parks poncho. It's like wearing a rubbish bag. And because I'm tall all the water dripped on to the front of my shorts. If you can, purchase a lightweight rain coat of some sort...maybe one with sleeves.

I have a ~100 lb GSD mix. He ate astonishing amounts of food through puppyhood. I think he peaked at 8 cups of TOTW a day. Trust me, you do not need to worry about food going bad.
He's two now, and eats a scant four cups of Blue Wilderness every day. I have a large plastic bin (here's the Amazon listing) and get 25 lb bags of food delivered via Chewy every month. It's very easy.
When I first moved out here, because I didn't have any of the basics, I opted for the basic version at Red Cross. They left in a checklist of items in there as well as items that you might want to add to personalize it, which I did. That is more of a single person kit though, so later when I moved, we got this 4 Person Kit. I forget which version of the cat one, but we have that one as well.
I'd say, before committing to the kits, first check against what you already have. In both situations, it was due to a large move that we realized we couldn't find everything or it would need to be purchased again which meant that it worked out financially to get the kit instead. Everyone else is trying to find essentials now getting stuck and eventually taken over by a hoard, whereas the person with the pack doesn't need to waste time getting food, water, and some medical kit.

His parents decided not to pay the gas company the $500 deposit to have it turned on because we live in the south and don't need to heat our apartment, we would only use gas for cooking. Because of that I haven't had a meal cooked on/in a stove in about a year. We either eat things fresh, microwaved, in a crock pot, or fried. I am sick and fucking tired of it. With the cookware I'll be able to change my eating habits because I won't be limited to what things I can cook with. Also, when I was a little girl, I never ate at a kitchen table because we didn't have one. We would eat meals separately, and I always longed for the family dinner atmosphere. My goal is to have a family dinner at least 3 times a week. I know the cookware won't help me achieve that goal, but it puts me one step closer.

I don't know where I went wrong with my formatting. When I edit my post it looks formatted but when I submit it, it gets all screwy.
I forgot to mention that I do have toiletries, tp, and sunscreen.
I also have a single mountain smith trekking pole and will most likely get another.
The Mountain House three day supply has 9 meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), 2.5 "servings" per meal. I will probably eat each meal personally to maximize calorie intake.

earthquake kit
Nothing special, but I picked up one of these a couple months back.
I also keep a few extra 2.5 gallon water jugs lying around in case water isn't accessible for 24-48 hours. I'm putting medications, batteries, and some other stuff in my go bag. Going to grab my atlas and put together a route out of the city that doesn't involve the highway.

I also have a plastic tote with other stuff that the bag didn't include like a full size towel, clean clothing, baby wipes, deodorant, sunscreen, canned food, feminine products (!!!), toilet paper & paper towels, a couple trash bags, etc.
A few people already mentioned a kit (which should include drinkable water, non-perishable food, basic first aid kit & a tool to shut off your gas like this one) & moonchild02 seemed to cover most steps although the doorway thing is a dated concept and could be dangerous since doors swing during earthquakes. If your house/apartment is newer & up to code (likely) then you'll want to tuck under a sturdy desk/table with your arms covering your head and neck.
Most earthquake injury & death is from stuff falling so if you plan up putting stuff on shelves make sure there's a way to secure items so they wont go all willy nilly but chances are when the big one happens, shits gonna go everywhere anyways so just keep knickknacks to a minimum and make sure you secure big furniture (wardrobes, bookshelves).
If you plan on keeping pets, they will act really strange afterwards (also keep some kibble for them in your emergency kit). They might hide, get super clingy, or run off, try to put a collar on them and if possible get them chipped.
Get a bathmat that is nonslip, if an earthquake happens while you're showering, you don't want to panic, slip and fall.
They said they like beer so I ended up getting them an S-biner that doubles as a beer bottle opener, the SAS Survival Handbook, and the interesting 4-in-1 turn off wrench suggested by you shown here. I'm going to post an update when my match posts their gift to see what they thought.

Welcome to prepping and congratulations on taking the first steps!
I will say, a lot of food goes bad pretty quick. Remember to rotate that stuff.
Alternatively, you can get mountain house or another brand of long term storage food and a little camping stove, and then you dont have to worry about it going bad, and if you don't need it for like 10 years it will still be here.
The stoves and their fuel cans are popular for camping, but work great for cooking when the powers out too, and in a situation where its pretty cold, they can warm up a small room pretty well.
