If they drink coffee or tea, a mug that would be in their taste can be a cool gift and useful, especially along with some nice tea or coffee. Etsy is a good place to start looking for more unusual or handmade mugs. (Here's the results for "science mug"). Teavana is usually a good store to look for fancy tea ideas.

Or a basket of nicer snacks to keep at the office (or not), like gourmet popcorn, dried fruit, nuts, chocolates, candies, etc. along with maybe some tea or coffee. So long as you're aware of any allergy/dietary restriction, I like consumables as gifts because you don't have to worry about the gift being in their style, etc.

On the more practical side of gift-giving, if any of them travel to a lot of conferences, then something related to making air travel/hotel stays more comfortable - like a fun sleeping mask or neck pillow - or even a colorful poster tube might be good.

If they are also ladies and wear scarves in the office (my office is cold!) that's another good choice, and you can find quirky and science-themed ones on Etsy as well.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that this game was founded on frugality. It was created when the military turned off SA for GPS units. GPS units at the time were very expensive compared to today. Plus the first Geocache was a 5 gallon bucket, which if you look at those prices, they aren't super cheap.

Plus I wouldn't call preforms expensive. https://www.amazon.com/5col-Rugged-Geocache-Waterproof-Storage/dp/B00S8Q4T0A These are about $2/piece, cheaper per if you buy larger quantities.

But none of that is really the point. The point is that an M&M container is junk. And most CO's aren't doing maintenance frequently enough for these to work. Sure, like you said, they're cheap and easy to replace. That's true, but most CO's won't get to it until AFTER there is a problem. Plus when these do break/get chewed on etc. it creates trash. And that's the last thing we need to add to the woods, or wherever the cache is hidden.

Why not focus on quality? If you are going to hide a cache, make it worthwhile. Spend $2 on a good container, then don't worry about it. It will be less work to maintain, won't create as much trash, and it will be more enjoyable for other players to find.

They have cardboard tubes you can use to roll your poster up and store in until you get it home. Or, if you see yourself getting a lot of posters in the future then grab one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UU6O2I/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_8?smid=A2CK5NG72UVSTT&psc=1

I've got a few tubes like these that I use for larger bits of gel, and a duffel bag with smaller bits and small rags in. CT in one tube, common fx in another, etc...

u/Lone--R · 2 pointsr/geocaching

I like these answers:

> I upgraded the container to a normal match stick holder

> they do not even come close to lasting. They are the literal sponges of geo containers and will get soaked

> Spend about a dollar each and get a Soda Bottle Preform. They last a long time in the outdoors (4 years and counting on my first one) and have a screw-on lid that keeps water out.

> Honestly? Don't. I've seen many of these containers in the wild, and every single one of them was in bad shape.

They also make them that are exactly the same, but with a slit in one end to put screws, nails, etc in. I can't find a link to them though....

I'm thinking about going to that 27th game. If I brought a poster tube similar to this one, will Prudential let it in?

u/dave965 · 2 pointsr/XWingTMG

Ok, thanks for the replies. Think I'm going to go with this, decent reviews and not too pricey.

u/nukii · 2 pointsr/PAX

I'm thinking about this one. Not sure if it's overkill.

40 inches should be more than enough for any poster I'd get at a con.

u/cazantyl · 2 pointsr/ants

Totally understand that. It does give me inspiration to add something similar to the modular system I'm putting together though :) What test tubes do you use? I've order https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S8Q4T0A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for my personal queen hunting but wasn't sure if there was a gold "standard" most people recommend.

u/DinkaAnimalLover · 2 pointsr/Rabbits

Hmmm are you giving your buns enough space in their enclosure? http://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Housing#Size_guidelines - housing size guidelines is it possible they are protesting being inside a smaller space or even any enclosure and want to run free?

Also are you giving them enough things to keep them occupied - toys, cardboard castles , tunnel etc? In the link below at the very bottom you can find good placed to buy things that might help destruct them from the floor as keep them stimulated in other ways, try it... https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Z_IvDuy5Fr-VOKwBVBSmZih0m1ATCIquIMhYyFl4aIw

For flooring, it they like to eat it I would avoid plastics and rubber to avoid health issues. Try the curated cardboard roll for a part of their flooring (not all of it) to see if that can give them something to dig at without tearing up the rest. It might really help. https://www.amazon.com/Aviditi-Flute-Single-Corrugated-Length/dp/B07BMC6MCK

You could also try these mats for a part of their flooring https://store.binkybunny.com/sea-grass-mats---3-size-choices-bb-73slx-p48.aspx they are safe to chew on and are made for it.

Try this digging box if the like to dig https://www.etsy.com/listing/114391957/bunny-rabbit-sisal-digging-box?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_a-pet_supplies-other&utm_custom1=a7cfe283-7718-4543-9960-87df126e8907&gclid=Cj0KCQjwr4beBRDNARIsAGZaZ5fsB0aEXQaUhBJm9H0jquHDuU9NrByIBCe2qYlFr2vYDzcDMerAzEsaAtUnEALw_wcB

Overall I think it comes down to have a big enough space and lots of things to keep them from getting bored, bored buns are the ones who in protest may destroy things and dig to try to get out...

So... I've been to a few shows and I'm pretty deep into the poster game so far. If you are a person who hates holding those cardboard tubes all night, let me suggest https://www.amazon.com/Alvin-MT25-CL-Storage-Transport-inches/dp/B007RFP3PI . These are a great investment and can hold about 3 posters total in them (if you're buying for someone else). Also, you can slap some stickers on them so they look super cool!

This is the one I have. It works well for 2 mats, rolled together. Nozlen Document Poster Tube - Black Plastic Storage Tube Expands from 24.5" up to 40" with Clear ID Card Cap - Water and Light Resistant - Telescoping For Posters, Artwork and Drawings Model DT3001 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DGWRHQY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_StgPAb76E0QK8

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S8Q4T0A/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_LncAwbPTD05B7 sorry it might be mobile link. Just go on Amazon and search "bottle preforms" if you have any trouble

u/jakwi · 1 pointr/Homebrewing

I buy my initial yeast and make a starter. Then cold crash, decant, and divvy it up into 2l test tube forms. Then I use each tube for a starter. When I get down to the last tube I make a starter to replenish my yeast supply. I've used them out to 9 months, but they are really best before 6 months in my opinion. 1000ml starter batch crashed and decanted down to 100ml will easily fill 4 or 5 tubes. If you only do this once and use every tube you get your yeast price down to $2 or less per batch. Don't be afraid to do two starters in a row if you think your yeast is sluggish.

Build a stir plate $15 tops
Stir bar $4
1l flask $14
Preform tubes $10

Cache Tube 5-pack (Clear, Plastic): Rugged, Waterproof Storage for Fire/Survival/Fishing Kit or Geocache https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S8Q4T0A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_r4NDzbK8EHBZM

Your favorite yeast $8
1lb dme $6

u/bender0877 · 1 pointr/Homebrewing

What do you mean about your grain bill being higher?

As far as the yeast goes, you're perfectly fine pitching the entire pack of yeast into a 2.5 gal batch. If you're interested in storing and saving yeast, make a larger starter than you would need, and save it in either a mason jar or a preform tube.

/u/BeatVids, I'm late to the game, but want to enter another BIG yes vote for the Chrome Industries bags. I'm in a similar situation. In my case, in addition, I have multiple bikes (which means I need to wear a bag, rather than mount one, for versatility) and will ride in any weather that isn't icy, including torrential downpours, with my stupidly expensive, 8lb 17" work laptop in the bag.

My solution is a Chrome Metropolis, which while it's no longer offered, is a slightly bigger version of the Chrome Citizen messenger bag. I loathe wearing bags on a bike, and yet I don't mind this one a bit, even with the enormous laptop, lunch, and anything else I need to wear to work in it. Their strapping system is secure and comfortable. The Metropolis will still hold a hard hat in addition to the laptop and my lunch in a soft cooler, half scale (11x17) drawings, and if I need to transport full size drawings I can carry them in a waterproof poster tube strapped up under the messenger bag flap.

I've done 100+ mile rides with this bag through rain so hard and constant that the inside of the bag was the only thing dry on the bike, me included.

With the Metropolis gone, Chrome's other messenger bags are also similarly constructed and durable. The Citizen isn't quite as big, but that said, the Metropolis is HUGE (it will swallow a full case of beer). My wife uses the much smaller Mini Metro on her bike, and it has no trouble with her conventionally sized 15" laptop and gear. It's been similarly durable and reliable, and was largely why I went for Chrome bags in the first place.

I have a ton of posters. If you want the official one sold inside the venue, I would suggest going in right when the doors open. Yes, the demand is highly dependent on the artist, but sometimes a poster that you think won't sell out will. If you really want the poster for that night, just get in the venue early.

I hate carrying merch around the venue. If you can, have a friend stand on the other side of the entrance and pass him/her the poster to put in your car. I can't speak for every venue, but it is extremely easy to do this at MPP. If you can't do this, buy one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Nozlen-Expanding-Document-Poster-Inches/dp/B00DGWRHQY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404221332&sr=8-1&keywords=Poster+tube

I usually get mine off Amazon. Usually order in quantity of 50. Just search poster tubes. Mine are 1.5 and I also buy 2 Inch

Aviditi P1520K Mailing Tubes with Caps, 1 1/2" x 20", Kraft (Pack of 50) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0081GJYV6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_DFX2CbYSA5S53

Wish I could get them cheaper per tube. But that's the best I found. Also never have had any get damaged. And the 20 is perfect for first class mail

I have one of these and it is excellent. You could probably club someone to death before it would break.
