Piperine, found in simple black pepper, increases absorbion of curcumin by 2000%

I like it, its good for inflammation and hsd other long term promising health benefits.

I take it every day. Here's the one I get: Turmeric Curcumin with Bioperine 1500mg https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DBTFO98?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

u/phordee · 3 pointsr/ChronicPain

Here is what I use. I take about 4 a day.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00JA4TLTI/ref=sns_myd_detail_page

I've heard that it's best to get a "standardized" turmeric to ensure the quality but have yet to find any that say that.

u/past-my-bedtime · 3 pointsr/conspiracy

Is this the one you're talking about? https://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-Enhanced-Absorption/dp/B00A39MPNI

It looks really good actually, it has black pepper in it to help with absorption. It also tells you exactly how much of the 500mg is made up of curcuminoids which is awesome, but I'm guessing a lot of supplements don't say tell you right? So it'd be really difficult to know.

FWIW I take Sports Research for all my other supplements like VitD & Omega 3's and I really like the company. Overall a fantastic brand with great quality stuff. Just never knew they had a curcumin capsule

I bought this a few days ago: Turmeric Curcumin https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GUOFDG0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_QYXpzbN56Q158

This has helped far better than anything else I've tried and I absolutely recommend it.

I'm not on any medications so I didn't feel the need to consult with a doctor about any drug interactions. I've read that turmeric is a blood thinner so keep that in mind if you decide to try it, or talk with your doctor if you are on meds.

u/looselybasedontruth · 2 pointsr/kratom

Yep. It's a little known secret. Try and report back!

I like Gaia brand. 2 caps at a time. Pricey, but good.

u/Mygaffer · 2 pointsr/suboxone

All the basics that help people stay regular. Eat a salad for lunch, the insoluble fiber will help with your constipation and as a benefit will keep your blood sugar stable and reduce your cravings for snacks in the afternoon.

You can try taking a probiotic, this is the one I'm using.

But you know what has seemed to really help eliminate my constipation problem, I mean totally eliminate it? Magnesium.

Not only are my poops no longer hard but they are many times actually soft. I recently decided I didn't like the direction my health was headed, got my blood work done and found I was pre-diabetic and had slight anemia. So I started hitting the gym nearly every day, eating way better, and supplementing. I did some research for supplements backed by science. The list I came up with was this:

Creatine Monohydrate

Magnesium (L-Threonate is supposedly better able to cross the blood-brain barrier)

Vitamin D3

Turmeric

Fish Oil

I've been taking all of this stuff for about two months now and between that, the better diet, and working out my energy levels are much higher, my strength is already improving a lot, and my poops are not hard anymore.

Right now I'm on a low dose of Suboxone, 2mg/day, so I'm sure that helps. After being on this drug for 11 years I'm a big believer in being on the lowest dose you can be comfortable on.

I don't want to get too off topic but this channel has been so helpful to me for to start improving my health that I'm going to link to the supplements video in case anyone else here finds it useful:

https://youtu.be/1U5W1pQjqmA

Good luck with your poop!

I got http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HK6FGIS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Only because the pictures were better than some of the other ones (I don't give a rat's ass about Dr. Danielle and only a cursory concern about it being organic). I was hoping to find a version that has more piperine (examine.com recommended 20mg) but 5mg seems to be the best I could get.

I want to do some more reading on the other options (non-piperine) that examine.com mentions, once I've seen if this helps.

u/mckazi · 2 pointsr/Supplements

Thanks. I'll take your recommendation on the caffeine. Regarding the curcumin, the serving size is 3 pills, I am already taking less. This is the one I am using https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DBTFO98. It's for aiding in recovery, although I wouldn't be able to tell how much is helping.

I'm 3 months into my treatment on Absorbica and i've been lifting consistently throughout my cycle 6-7 times per week with cardio in the morning. I started to feel some joint pain that isn't typical for me, so I upped my Turmeric game. Turmeric is one of the greatest anti-inflammatories, and I highly reccomend it if you're feeling any joint/tendon discomfort. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Y4VIHKG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 - This is the best Turmeric product out there in my opinion because it contains 750mg of the 95% extract, whereas other supplements will only have 500mg-1g of regular Turmeric. Best of luck to you on your journey!

u/mellosayshello · 2 pointsr/ChronicPain

I have been taking turmeric for a couple weeks and I think it is helping my pain. Dosage is three a day, but I've been taking two. I have been told that my nerve pain is caused by inflammation from degenerative disc that I had surgery on in 2011. I also take glucosamine msm and fish oil. After a few weeks these seem more effective than epidural cortisone injections (in my experience only). The last time I had a pain flare up it lasted over 4 months and I got injections, took NSAIDS, started supplements and the pain subsided for almost 2 years, but I don't really know which of those helped and don't want to get injections again as I'm not sure side effects are worth it or if it even does anything. If you can get the inflammation under control, you might be able to stop supplements for a while, but I might keep taking these from now on to see if I can avoid another flare up. No side effects that I've noticed so way better than pharmaceuticals for me.

u/assholesuckonit · 2 pointsr/gout

When it gets bad, I take 2 tart cherry extract caps and 1 turmeric cap all at once and I feel it fades away for awhile. It only works for 4 hours. I've been taking these pills for 10, 15 years no problem.

u/oneir0naut · 2 pointsr/Supplements

No I meant turmeric itself. Apparently there are additional benefits to taking turmeric as a whole. You can get it with Meriva and am taking it now. For instance: http://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-Meriva-Turmeric-Complex/dp/B004ICYO8K or http://www.swansonvitamins.com/swanson-ultra-turmeric-phytosome-meriva-500-mg-60-caps

Yeah I would like to avoid reflux so I may stick with Meriva. Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear you hurt all the time ☹

I have suffered from bouts of strong arthritis pain I my wrists, knees & list back since I was a kid. I'm also allergic to all anti inflammatory meds that could help me. So I rely mostly on natural stuff & Tylenol to manage my pain when it gets real bad. It is also a super digestive aid

Best thing I ever discovered was turmeric pills (curcumin). It is a strong natural anti-inflammatory that really works for me. I recommended it to a friend that suffered from severe IBS and he said it helped him so much after 2 weeks of taking it.

Please discuss it with your doctor & add it to your wish list if you get the green light & I will gift it to you ❤

u/charliefinkwinkwink · 2 pointsr/Nootropics

interesting — how long have u been taking it?

this one

u/flamingopanic · 2 pointsr/ChronicPain

I'd recommend getting a little of each and seeing which ones help your pain the best (avoid getting any tinctures, extracts, or anything stronger than regular kratom, as this will be very strong and increase your tolerance). You'll want to get a kitchen scale to measure out your doses accurately (one that measures in grams).

Start low, with 3 grams or so, and increase by 0.5 g each time you take it until you get the results you are looking for. Then stay at that dose as long as possible. Make sure you take it when you get up and have an empty stomach, and avoid taking it with dairy, as this will coat your stomach and hamper the effects.

I also recommend getting a blender bottle to mix it in a liquid. I recommend shaking it up with either strong orange juice (get frozen OJ and use a bit less water than it calls for) or chocolate or dark chocolate almond milk. It tastes like shit, so be prepared for that.

It also makes some people nauseated, so I recommend getting some Chimes ginger chews and eating 2 of those after you take your kratom so that your tummy is okay. Ginger also has some antiinflammatory properties itself.

I take 2 of these capsules about 30 minutes prior to taking my kratom, as it is said to potentiate the kratom and also have antiinflammatory properties, and then I take 1.5 g agmatine sulfate right before taking my kratom, as it helps keep tolerance down and helps keep any withdrawals at bay if I can't take my kratom right on time.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me. I truly believe that kratom saved my life. I'm still in pain, obviously, but it treats it well enough (and without being a drugged up zombie) that it's worth it. It does still make you a bit high when you take a higher dose, but nothing on the level of prescription narcotics.

Also, you should visit /r/kratom and/or /r/KratomKorner. Those are both great communities for people who use kratom, and you can get answers to a lot of your questions there. Good luck! I hope it works as well for you as it has for me.

It also helps with post drinking puffy eyes. Just make sure it has black pepper too.

u/mysled · 1 pointr/Dogtraining

We use this, I take it too! First we made sure they were okay with it by just adding a weight-appropriate amount to their food once a day, then twice a day (the recommended amount is for a 150lb person so we just did 1/5th a capsule for 30lb dog). We do our own raw and I do a veggie mix with leafy greens, carrots, beets, pumpkin/sweet potato, yogurt, raw honey, seasonal herbal and seaweed mixes (prepared by our local raw feeding co-op), some fruit, ginger, and red palm oil, so once I knew they were okay with it I just ground up a month's worth of turmeric capsules for two dogs with a month's worth of the veggie mix and added it to the meat grind.

Oh, and FWIW, we also tried switching to a "cooling" protein (traditional chinese medicine thing), since we had been feeding chicken before, and I am not sure that made a difference, other than being a pain in the ass to grind (duck has a TON more fat and it kept clogging the grinder).

u/BionicWoahMan · 1 pointr/ChronicPain

They say it increases the bioavailability by like 90 percent and the only part of it that matters is the actual amount if cucurmin in it from 95% I got this one for half off during a lighting sale and wish I had ordered more.

I replaced it with drug store one with the same breakdown and it's fine. The bioperine is pepper.

So DHA-EPA is a good source of Omega-3s. It's also good for brain and heart health. It's usually fish oil, but since I'm massively allergic to fish, I take a vegan form made from algae (which is how fish get it to begin with). And here's the turmeric I take, it does have the black pepper in it. I have RA so it's helped a lot with inflammation.

I don't think AIP is going to inflame your body even more if you make sure your carbs are around 100/day. I think it'll actually help with your pain. But also keep in mind it's not going to go away instantly; it might take a couple of weeks before you notice a difference, so keep with it!

I already bought it so why not try it and see if it's a decent replacement for the longvida? This new curcumin is the highest rated on amazon with over 9000 reviews, all raving about its effectiveness with bodily pain, I didn't see many people talk about curcubrain helping with their body inflammation, just the mental benefits.

dude I've felt like that before. try what I did: start taking this Turmeric stuff twice a day. It's good for your liver and an antidepressant. Also if you're not getting enough sunlight and nutrition, you're probably vitamin D deficient, which also contributes to depression. Grab some D.
Last but not least, take these liver pills before drinking. It will help minimize the damage to your liver.

Another thing, see if you can get yourself into a detox for at least a weekend, try to get some help. sounds like you're on a rapid downward spiral. suicide ain't the answer man. PM me anytime.

u/basements_in_london · 1 pointr/Marijuana

I'm not sure if this helps, it does for me, but turmeric has been known to be a highly effective anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and anti-arthritic natural medicine.

Mix 1 full tsp turmeric with 1/4 tsp pepper in 10 once glass of water with green tea package. It will taste off but trust me it works! You can warm it to sip it like a broth or broth-tea. Mix regularly since turmeric powder settles and it should begin to clear it up symptoms.

You two be brave and positive, MMJ will relieve the pain if you can get your hands on it. But turmeric and green tea will hopefully reverse the disease she's been stricken with. The pepper is for the enzymes of turmeric to be absorbed more efficiently by the liver.

It doesn't hurt to try. Research it. Here's a good link for turmeric. God bless.

Edit: Vitamin D and B12 will help balance the immune system. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked with crohn's disease, by adding it back in it will correct the autoimmune system.

I'm not entirely sure at the moment. Right now I am doing the following:

  • 4 vitamin D drops/day [8,000iu] https://amzn.com/B004HGF69I
  • 3 turmeric capsules https://amzn.com/B00WT4D57K
  • 1 fish oil pill https://amzn.com/B004O2I9JO
  • No starch in diet along with lowish carbs. Lots of salad with some fruit. Lean meats
  • Low-impact cardio every evening [longboarding]
  • 8 hours sleep/night

Prices of those supplements may be less elsewhere...

For the past few years I have taken Humira as needed when the AS really flares up. But I haven't had a shot for months, and this is probably the best I have felt since I was diagnosed. I can't believe how well the above protocol is working. Hopefully it lasts: AS is a horrible disease!

I'm actually off Testosterone shots right now, and my natural production is slowly creeping upwards. My AS might have actually gotten worse on T shots. Impossible to say for sure, though.
u/TheTaintLock · 1 pointr/kratom

Did you use turmeric or curcumin?

Make sure you get something that is only only turmeric extract (curcumin) at 95% curcuminoids. They get tricky with labels and add turmeric to lower the cost, but also the effectiveness.

This was the best product I have used:

https://biotest.t-nation.com/products/curcumin

Although, I went to order some the other day and they were out. I look today, the price went up $8 and it says "new double strength formula now with 50% more servings" and is still out of stock. So obviously they are reformulating it. I think the label there is still the old label.

Anyways, I ended up going on Amazon to find a comparable product. Lots of shady ass labels with proprietary blends. I ended up ordering this, still in the mail:

https://www.amazon.com/Sports-Research-Turmeric-Curcuminoids-Bioperine/dp/B00A39MPNI/

Haven't tried curcumin with kratom, but I assume it won't do anything to change the effects, other than possibly helping with pain/inflammation in the long run. I think potentiation would be non-existent or so small as to be non-noticeable. Good supplement though.

u/collector_red · 1 pointr/kratom

I'm in the states XD

I'm just worried about wasting money on a product and it not working because it's not quality.

I tried turmeric or curcumin/piperine:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NBA8DZF/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_04bdzbMYGHFQ0

.. and didn't notice any difference in my burn.

Then I tried agmatine:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PZ5WXWI/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_a8bdzbQTE3RF7

... and didn't notice much change in tolerance or potentiation but I did notice it was affecting my SSRI antidepressant almost boosting it so I stopped taking it.

I'm just trying to find something to give my burns that little extra kick when I need it. The only other supplements I've found are BSO and Cats Claw. Just wary of wasting more money but BSO seems promising based on the reviews I've read. I'm not worried about the taste I use to take oregano oil and that stuff was harsh lol.

Thanks again for the insight. I may just try the 1 oz version for $8.49 as a add on item next time I purchase something

So is cory to increase BA mostly or for its effects of its own? And I heard people use black pepper to increase BA is this similar to using cory for BA%? And how does this product look: https://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Bioperine-Available-Standardized-Curcuminoids/dp/B01DBTFO98/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1485531136&sr=8-4&keywords=curcumin
It has black pepper/bioperine in it. And do they make one that contains cory? Thanks!

I personally take two of these once a day. I found it to work better than the wellbutrin I was put on.

A quick article search shows a growing effort of research regarding curcumin and its relationship with depression.

You could grind fresh turmeric into a powder in theory, but I'm don't have the time, finesse or know-how for all that lol

My mom is getting up there in age, works a job in retail where she is standing all day, and doesn't take care of herself much, consequently she started developing joint pain/arthritis. Looking around I found the best bet for reducing her symptoms was an absorption enhanced curcumin supplement and boswellia serrata extract. She hasn't complained in months about aches or pains, and this was after trying glucosamine/chondroitin/fish oil which did nothing for her.

I probably wouldn't worry too much about gluten then. I highly recommend supplementing with this and a green tea supplement as well.

Oh, one more idea: there have been numerous recent studies linking depression with inflammation, and the most frequently identified supplement to treat this is Turmeric, ideally encapsulated together with black pepper as it potentiates the effects. I use this as a daily supplement (but never in place of my regular medications). Below is the link to the specific kind I use in case you want to be spared all the research that myself and my mother have done into which product is the BEST 😆

Ever thought about a potentiator? Lemon is an easy one but Turmeric is a two-fold helper.

Turmeric with piperine (black pepper) to help lower your dose and it has a ton of anti-inflammatory properties. I used to have good results with the GAIA brand capsules. Unrelated to the kratom seller GAIA. There are cheaper versions but make sure it has the pepper. It can thin your blood if you have other health issues just FYI. I hope you find relief.

Mervia is expensive. What's the difference between it and this? Or is Mervia cheaper on sites other than Amazon? There's also Longvida.

I used to make golden milk which requires buying raw spice powder but I now just take a supplement (https://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Bioperine-Available-Standardized-Curcuminoids/dp/B01DBTFO98/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_121_bs_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=MEC0C78W4X0S9J4WHMJ2). I determine how much I take just based off the daily serving on the bottle. I would suggest starting off using golden milk as I think it works better. It is cheaper as well.

u/TheLucidLion · 1 pointr/Supplements

Curcumin extract is the active ingredient in turmeric - or at least the main driver of the benefits. I have seen some positive anti inflammatory effects myself, less joint pain after working out, reduced allergies, etc.

It is not very bioavailable in the body, so make sure you go with a brand that is high quality and uses bioperine - which enhances bioavailablity.

Sorry to jump in on an old conversation, but does this product look similar to what you are taking?

This is what it lists for the dosages: -500mg Organic Turmeric (Curcuma longa) - 5mg Black Pepper (Bioperine®)

Thanks for any help you can provide, I am trying to slowly understand tumeric/curcumin as a supplement.

u/RhodesianHunter · 1 pointr/Nootropics

Is "BioPerine" just a brand name for Piperine? From Google it seems like they are both extracted from pepper. If so would something like this be an ideal way to get both from a single source?

Edit: A little more Google-Fu answered my first question. "BioPerine® is the only product sourced out of piperine to obtain a patented status for its ability to increase the bioavailability of nutritional compounds. Secondly, it is the only source from piperine to have undergone clinical studies in the U.S. to substantiate its safety and efficacy for nutritional use." Thoughts on the product linked?

u/BillHang4 · 1 pointr/kratom

It's $19.99 at cvs but amazon has it for $11.72. It's a 60 count but you take 3 at a time.

I'm in the nutraceutical biz and what I've found is most effective is to look up on Amazon or Vitacost the drug that I'm taking, than I check the ingredients and from this you'll find the safe dosages. Branded retailers are pretty good about putting correct qty in capsules.

Go to Amazon and just type in "Enhanced Turmeric" a number of products show up. or click this link
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=enhanced+turmeric

this product says 10mg per 1500mg dose

So the suggested dose of retailers is 10mg per 1500mg that is the safe level. These companies have researchers who investigate the products before formulating. Let them do there work and just follow there findings and you'll be fine. We are in a litigous society so if they are wrong than they can be sued. They usually aren't.

In addition to trying Keto, take Turmeric supplements if you aren't already. It has fantastic anti-inflammatory effects. It has cured several acute issues for me, and I was able to avoid surgery for one of them, just by supplementing. This was even before I started keto.

Here is just one of many articles:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23281076

NOTE that turmeric is somewhat of a blood thinner, so if you're already taking those, talk to your doctor first. (And in general, your doctor should know any supplements you're taking.)

I use Dr. Tobias 750mg, but any quality brand will work. Make sure it has bioperine for bioavailability.
