I think it's because of the cross and associating cross's with Christianity.

Think this is the same one. It's a bit heavy and it's just resin, so if it falls off the wall it's pretty much done for.
Ouch. Those stores usually are rip-offs in all honesty. You can pick up a cord one on amazon for pretty cheap. Just search “cord rosary”
If you’re looking to buy a pretty sturdy one at that $30 price point, look into the combat rosaries at cordbands.com. Those are amazing and it will probably outlast you, and they have great customer service.
See if you can get your money back on that other one.
