Wool Duffle Toggle Jacket

That's what you're looking for.

Edit: LOL!

Its just a mens winter dress coat IMO. The type that are designed to fit over a suit and look professional. They often have similar design patterns to a peacoat (especially in the collar), and if the buttons were different I'd say that Pryce was wearing a peacoat. That style jacket is also pretty fashionable to pair with a scarf, which Pryce is doing as well.

Here is an example on amazon. ( https://www.amazon.com/INVACHI-Winter-Business-Jacket-Detachable/dp/B07HRFZ1RT?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2 ) That coat is a pretty typical style and the collar and buttons match. You'd have to pop the collar to get that look though.

Look at this Kenneth Coal one. You can see the pea coat, but then towards the top part of it, it looks like he's got a sweater zipped up or something? That's the bib. I'd imagine it's just for added warmth and to keep some cold out, but I personally don't like it.

On pea coats that I've seen with the bibs, they don't seem to be removable. No me gusta.

What you're looking for is called a duffle coat. Here's a version of one on Amazon. When you go looking for one in your size and style, you're looking for a short length (most duffle coats are midlength), and you'll want to find one that has a detachable hood. I'll keep looking and see what I can find.

EDIT: I found an interesting article on the duffle coat's history.

Here's a pretty nice one at a decent price.
This one is cheaper, less nice, only comes in one color (black).

Yeah, if you're trying to sail off the side of the mountain with your poncho wings... landing might be difficult, though.

EDIT: If you're going the poncho route, I'd go with one of these. They're super soft, and it's literally impossible to be unhappy in a poncho. I've got one, but I've never taken it skiing.

I'm looking for brand/store recommendations for tops that are sleek and lean (I don't know if there is a word for this style)

Admittedly I do most of my shopping online, however even when I go into stores most clothes that I see look rather plain. I'm interested it tops with sleek designs and linework and/or unique patterns and styles such as zippers and epaulets.

Examples:

shirt 1

shirt 2

jacket 1

jacket 2

My budget is ideally below $100 but I'm open to all suggestions

Dear lord do not buy that coat. There is not a single college student that looks good in a trench coat. It's the only thing worse than a fedora.

This is what you will look like

Please get a charcoal pea coat instead. You can wear it with anything and it is not completely out of place on a college campus as well as bizarre for your age group.

Here's one that's 80% wool for 120 Link but I would recommend going to an army/navy surplus store in your area to get one on the cheap.

try this one

That's definitely a J.Crew catalog picture, but here's a link to a very similar one for much less than you'd pay at J.Crew.

Secondhand store during the winter season? I don't imagine finding fur-lined coats during the summer. Especially look for vintage

You could try sewing your own or modifying a men's bathrobe if there is the appropriate pattern on it.

Or get this thing.

If you're talking about this the reviews say its a bit boxy but honestly never had experience with that particular brand. I definitely like the grey toque paired with the navy pea coat idea!

The coat came in. The fabric is very high quality. Much better than what I saw on Kenneth Cole and Ralph Lauren coats that I tried. However, it's quite heavy... so if you're looking for a lighter fabric, look elsewhere.

The fit is also nice (the KC coat, in medium, was way too baggy and the RL coat, in 38R, was a bit snug). The pocket flaps add a little bit of bulk, but it looks pretty much like it does on the model.

Regarding the buttons: Personally, I like them. They feel very well-crafted.

I'm 5'-10.5" and 158ish. I ordered a Medium and I think it's sized appropriately. I may get it taken in just a tad, but I'll let the wool loosen up (as it arrived relatively stiff) before I make any decisions.

Peacoat on sale at Macy's for around $130 in a small. Should I bite the bullet?

Hi all, so I wanted to buy a new light jacket, I was looking for something kind of elegant.

I found this jacket I really like the style of, but I'm not quite convinced by it, it might be the price or the fact that I saw it on Aliexpress. So if any of you know something similar please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all - I found this coat on amazon and I very much like the look of it, especially the collar. I had not seen a raised non-collar like this before, and imagine it would look quite nice. However, the coat itself appears to be a Chinese mass-produced item of very poor quality. Reverse image searches turn up the same-ish coat on alibaba and similar, but nothing from more traditional manufacturers.

I'm hoping to get a line on a coat with a similar look, or even just a similar collar. If anyone knows what that collar type is called, that would also be great. Any leads much appreciated!

no idea what that one in particular is, but something like this could give a similar vibe, albeit a less dramatic hood/shawl collar thing

  1. Is there anywhere that sells North Sea Clothing items, specifically the Submariner, in USD?

  2. Opinions on this Original Montgomery Toggle Duffle Coat, or is there another one out there that might be cheaper without being low quality?

I'm looking for a wool coat for the winter, but am having trouble finding something I like. I really like the style and look of this coat here, but the bad reviews and sizing (it's made and shipped from China) have deterred me from purchasing this one. Anyone know where I can find a coat like this from a more legitimate brand? Pricing isn't too much of an issue, thanks!

Here is one on Amazon but you can also Google it and see if you like any other ones better.

I live in MN as well. For something different than you've been looking at, give this a look. It's what I want to buy next.

As others have said, you'll want real winter boots, gloves, scarf, and hat. Stock up on wool sweaters, chunky sweaters, thick button downs, and wool socks.

The coat is the centerpiece, but if you don't have the right accessories, you're still going to feel cold.

u/VectorNiner ยท 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Hey man I found this one as I was looking the other day for a peacoat as well! Hope it helps, it has great reviews but they say it runs big so down size it one size if you purchase. I'm 6'3 170lbs and am probably going with the charcoal medium!

Well, then I suppose I am a victim of misused terminology in places it should be correct. I did find the discrepancies strange. That is, as a matter of fact, almost exactly what I am looking for, except with a more defined, narrow waist (but without a sash or belt). The closest item to what I want I've found so far, was, as a matter of fact, listed under 'trench coats'. But yes, if you could direct me to a retailer that sold something in line with what I'm talking about, I'd appreciate it.
