I'm bored so I did some research. Here are some ideas!

A handmade yoga mat holder shelf

A chakra mug

A yoga wheel with the phases of the moon printed on the inside

Photos of yogis around the world

Private lessons with his favorite teacher

Om wall art carved into reclaimed wood

A cork yoga mat

An appointment to get a yoga-related tattoo

A Tibetan singing bowl

Handstand blocks

A backpack with a pocket for a yoga mat

A beautiful journal (this one is on sale!)

You didn't say what your budget is, so I covered a wide range. I hope this helps!

EDIT to add the best yoga shirt: T-Rex Loves Chaturanga tee shirt

Not really the best solution but a yoga mat bag and these sewn onto it would probably work well.

If you google around for something alone the lines of "cylinder top tube bag" you may find something better.

If your backpack has straps for attaching other items, you can strap the mat to the bag and it's still all 1. There are backpacks designed specifically for that, too. I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Aurorae-Purpose-Crossbody-Backpack-Colors/dp/B00M24MFWI

I use this bag. I pack my sneakers first since they are always in my bag (they get their own drawstring bag inside my backpack so they don't make it smell). Then in goes my clothes rolled up nice and neat. In the small front pocket my deo, lock and such

I have a different mat, but have this bag and absolutely love it. I mean, I guess any bag can be a place that gets gross.

I love my bag because I can throw other things into it (water bottle, towel, etc) and mine has a little pocket on the side for a snack or my keys.

I have and love this one: http://www.amazon.com/Colorful-Cotton-Yoga-color-choices/dp/B003LW70TI/ref=sr_1_9?s=exercise-and-fitness&ie=UTF8&qid=1415918232&sr=1-9

I think zippering open long ways is best, I'd hate to have to slide my mat into a small hole at the top.

I recently started focusing a bit more on fitness due to some life changes so a lot of my items are specific to running and yoga.

Yoga mat bag. $19.98 I've been taking yoga classes and this would be a stylish way to take my mat around. I agree with the sentiment Snow, snow, go away. You are very pretty and have great taste.

I love my Manduka Go Roam bag. It's made for a yoga mat, so it's extremely spacious for items like my weightlifting gear and a shocking amount of clothes and shoes, even my laptop if I'm coming right from work. Tons of interior and exterior pockets too.

I also get a ton of compliments on it, which doesn't hurt.

This one looks like it might be a good one too, although I don't own it so I can't vouch for the quality.

you need something like this.

I recently bought this bag at Marshalls for about $75. While it doesn't have the separate shoe compartment, a shoe bag would help with that. I really like it. It's nice because I can fit a lot into it, but it's not as bulky as most other bags I've seen and used. It has a nice padded pocket that I can fit my laptop into. I put my shoes on the bottom, then can fit my work clothes (jeans, sweater, socks, undies, bra), a medium sized makeup bag, and then my lunch and snacks. It was a splurge purchase for me, but I'm really liking it.
