I had a whole big thing written up for you but I accidentally closed the tab T_T. I don't know anything about the G Box, sorry, but I do know about a few other devices.

I would recommend the Nvidia Shield if you can afford it. Normally $199.99, it's on sale for Cyber Monday for $149.99 with a free $49.99 remote you can sell on eBay to offset costs if you want. Easily the fastest product for Kodi, as well as a gaming rig, Netflix/Hulu/etc. player.

Next is the Fire TV, on sale right now on Amazon for $74.99. Ignore the rating on Amazon as the initially release didn't support 5.1, Amazon pushed out a patch to fix that. Learn how to sideload with a 5 min videos, push Kodi onto their, install firestarter and you're set to go. I use the first generation, a lot snappier than the Fire Stick.

The amazon Fire stick is $24.99 right now at Best Buy, not the snappiest device, but good for just putting on a movie, netflix, Hulu etc and just watching without too much switching in a out, as it doesn't run as smoothly as the other two. Still a great alternative if you don't want to spend too much and do a test run on Kodi and get a feel.

Here's the links to the devices on sale right now

[Newegg, Nvidia Shield (Not sure if remote comes) $149.99 no tax for more]

Amazon Nvidia Shield, $149.99 w/ Remote

Amazon Fire TV Box, $74.99

Best Buy Amazon Fire TV Stick $24.99

Alternatively if you want these a fire TV today, staples and best buy both have them for $74.99 and you can pick it up, try it out for a couple days and return if you don't like them.

Also I hope you're in the US or this was a waste of time lol.

Very helpful, thank you. So a couple follow up questions. 1. I think that's a good idea about not giving them something fully loaded. I havent used it yet, but I was imagining something that had a simple interface like popcorn time, netflix, or hbo go. So out of all the options even if cost is not that much of an issue, you recommend the fire stick kodi? 2. Are you saying, it's probably better to buy the firestick with kodi loaded on ebay then either learn to jailbreak myself or find a friend that can do it? 3. Also, I just saw this with over 3k reviews and the description says it can load any of the extra apps. Not sure what you think? https://www.amazon.com/Matricom-G-Box-Android-Streaming-Media/dp/B00QHLSKOE/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1481774273&sr=8-10&keywords=kodi

I don't know why you are getting downvoted because it's the best answer. Local channels you can receive for free as long if you have an antenna. you can get 25mile radius ones for $12.99

https://www.amazon.com/1byone-HDTV-Antenna-Miles-Performance/dp/B00IF70QCW/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1478910356&sr=8-7&keywords=antenna

A friend of mine uses an antenna and has been extremely reliable for her.

I don't know what he's talking about - it's not hard at all....

The best way to do this is use a HTPC (computer) and just ALT TAB out of Kodi in to the Windows 10 Netflix and Hulu Apps

There is not currently any reliable way to natively run Netflix in Kodi.

If you are looking for a simple unified experience a FireTV or Fire Stick (will be slower) is your best bet as you will have native HBO, Hulu, Amazon, Netflix etc streaming that is all in a single interface Then use the Kodi app for everything else.

This is the box I started out with and now I currently use an NVIDIA Shield TV Box but that is a much more expensive box. This one is very easy to use, good remote, and I would recommend you get an empty box and not one of those "preloaded" boxes you'll see all of the internet.

Kodi is software you will need a device to run that software most use some sought of Android box. But Kodi can run on many different devices https://kodi.tv/download. Exodus Redux should not be use as it was abandon by it's developer and these addons need contant updates to keep working correctly like finding correct TV show, movies. https://kodiapps.com/addons-chart

These are the Kodi Android boxes that recommend to run Kodi and other apk apps https://www.reddit.com/r/ApksApps/

Android boxes to run Kodi highly recommend NVIDIA SHIELD expensive but well worth it nothing better they also sell non gaming version basically that one comes with out game pad about $20.00 cheaper.

This $28 keyboard/trackpad has been great for me. Trackpad can be a little on the small side when moving the cursor on a large TV, but it gets the job done.

I run Kodi on a small form factor PC, which has been working awesome.

u/Wired4Speed · 1 pointr/Addons4Kodi

I've only had mine for 7 DAYS and I absolutely love it. I have several other streaming devices and this is now my favorite. I purchased it from Amazon. Link below. Also, I just ordered a Rii i28 mini keyboard for $18.99 but many people like the phone app.

Actually it wasn't the official one but yes it can be used with any Xbox One. It even controls the volume on my receiver which is nice:

Depends on your budget really, should check out GearBest as it tends to be cheaper then amazon when buying android boxes(http://www.gearbest.com/).

If you want a high end box($200) that runs flawless then I would get a Nvidia Shield

If you have a lower budget(under $60) and want it to run good I would get a M8S PRO TV. If you buy this I would change the launcher to something you like as default launcher kinda sucks and uninstall all the apps you won't use.

u/PM_ME_TITSorASS · 2 pointsr/Addons4Kodi

Yes you take up 1 port but on the bright side it does come with a spilt for charging + reciver

The Plus model just came out recently so there actually is not many bluetooth ones around. They only have the Blue colored (heh) bluetooth i8+ it also it a bit more at 27.99.

Honestly what I would do, if I wasn't using an rpi3 which has 4 usb slots, is get the RF for 21.99 then get a 4 way usb splitter for your other port for 6.49

Here's a dope ass chrome rii i8+ lol

u/LisaChimes · 1 pointr/Addons4Kodi

I've been using this remote for years now and it works great right out of the box, however it looks to be out of stock everywhere. Possibly discontinued?

u/TheMediaAcct · 1 pointr/Addons4Kodi

Also look into small factor PC's I use this

With a keyboard/track pad combo it makes working on it simple. Plus you get the benefit of a full fledged PC. They make the combos smaller, I like a full sized for typing.

2TB hard drive with 800 or so movies, still has space, PC and DVD(r/w) with BluRay.

The drive and DVD are optional addons obviously.

I setup a raspberry pi with exodus and trakt for my computer challenged parents. They do pretty well with it.

Edit to add: they use this remote -Rii Mini Wireless 2.4GHz Keyboard with Mouse Touchpad

u/DrummGunner · 1 pointr/Addons4Kodi

Interesting. I have this keyboard/mouse and since my set up is in the living room, I'm not sure i like the look of a keyboard on the table. Mine does have a home button though but it just takes me the top of the page, ill look around for a linux driver and see if that fixes it.

If you know of a smaller profile combo than mine, please share

The same addons work with SPMC, the ones I use anyway. SPMC is designed for Android, and includes extra code/fixes to get the best out of the Fire Stick/TV. SPMC is available here. I don't know the current source for Not Sure. As for setting up, use the app Downloader to download SPMC.

The actual link address on github is https://github.com/opensubtitles/service.subtitles.opensubtitles_by_opensubtitles/archive/master.zip

I've installed it on Firesticks using AFTV's Downloader app (https://www.amazon.com/AFTVnews-com-Downloader/dp/B01N0BP507) to download the zip, and then installed it in Kodi from zip file.

Potato quality being less than 240p with dog shit frame rate.
My speed test resulted in 65Mbps download and 37mbps upload.
Prior to buying the Matricom G-Box I had been using the program on my laptop, it worked alright.

Today I unplugged my 1TB external hard drive from the G-box and it seems to be running a lot better, actually able to stream movies with Genesis without much buffering.
