Disney in the summer? You are a brave woman. I'm a Floridian who grew up there-- been more times than I can count. August is harsh. Although I don't have tips for surviving while pregnant, I do have general tips for surviving.

  1. Sunscreen. Don't be an idiot. Sunbum spf 70 is what I use, and it's awesome. Also, I keep this in my bag for my face. It's the best facial sunscreen on the market IMO. Most importantly: reapply. Lots of people slather on a layer in the morning and expect it to last the 9 hours they're in the Florida sun. HA. Yeah right. In general, reapply every few hours-- especially on your face, ears, shoulders, and tops of feet if you wear sandals.

  2. DRINK WATER. A lot of it. Disney has tons of water fountains, so you'll be able to refill frequently if you don't want to spend a fortune on water bottles.

  3. Food. Epcot is my favorite place, so we'll start there: Schoolbread from Norway's restaurant and the Ham and Gruyere croissant from the patisserie at France are sooo yummy. I get them every time we go because they're just... hnggh. Drools. And there's a fairly decent walk between then, so I never feel bad walking my way around the worlds and eating. The Land has high quality decently priced somewhat-real (nonfried) food. Sandwiches, salads, wraps, etc. Mexico has fantastic margaritas for whoever is going with you (sorry girl), and the nachos at the stand restaurant (not inside) are delightfully terrible. Like the fake cheese and tons of meat and sour cream. They're the best.
The Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom are home to the magical thing that is a pineapple dole whip (soft serve). Seriously. If you like pineapple, your life will change. I get the vanilla pineapple swirled together. It's... just wow. I'm literally salivating. The Be Our Guest restaurant at MK is pretty solid, and the Le Fou Brew across the way is delicious-- and has no alcohol. Win win. :) If you want more food info, do let me know.

  4. Castmembers are almost always fantastic. If you feel sick/need something, just ask one for help. "I'm having terrible morning sickness, do you mind helping me figure out what restaurants will have food I can eat?" That sort of thing will be right up their ally. There are info-desks with super knowledgeable people to help you.

  5. Have fun while waiting in lines by looking for hidden Mickeys!

:( That does sound hectic. My registry is kinda all over the place because I've already bought a ton of stuff, but just some suggestions of some things (FTM so no idea really if these are good or not, some were recommendations from friends, some were recommendations from various online resources).

  • car seat, extra base if you have more than one car, and stroller
  • baby carrier - I got the ergobaby 360 with infant insert but the Lillebaby 360 is also super popular.
  • swaddles - aden & anais seem to be hugely popular.
  • bathing supplies - washcloths, bathtub
  • first aid kit supplies - NoseFrida, nail clipper, thermometer
  • feeding - bottles, sterilizer (some people told me I had to have it, some said it was totally unnecessary), bottle cleaner brush, drying rack (seems like everyone else loves the Boon grass, but I don't have the counter space!) You can get a pump through your insurance if you plan to breastfeed, I ordered mine through Aeroflow. I ultimately chose the Spectra S2 over the Medela PISA because it's a closed system, which apparently means less chances of bacteria getting into the system and thus easier cleaning.
  • burp clothes - I was told to just get a ton of cloth diapers to use as burp clothes, and to have them everywhere.
  • diaper pail - I have two friends who say this is good enough, so I went with it. They also said to use doggie poop bags to contain the smelly diapers.
  • humidifier
  • Boppy for nursing
  • Backpack style diaper bag
  • baby may need a more convenient place to be set down other than the crib, something you can have near you in the kitchen, shower, whatever. Popular options are the rock n play, Boppy lounger, or a pack 'n play. I plan on getting the Chicco FastAsleep pack 'n play because the crib/dresser/changing station is on our 2nd floor, so I figured this could double as a changing station/napper on the first floor.

Lucie's List is probably the best resource I found online.

Hospital Bag:

Shower flip flops! Preferably in a larger size because if you end up with an epidural/spinal swelling can be major. No one told me that

Slippers for walking around the hospital - I like the moccassin kind that have bottoms are are almost shoes but not quite.

I liked having a silk robe for after labor and sitting around. It could cover me while nursing a bit. That robe became like my thing after wearing it in the hospital and my kids blankie/comfort object now.

I didn't bring any underwear or pads to the hospital - I knew they provided mesh ones for when I was there and plenty of pads. I took a ton home with me too.

An extension cord!! So my labor/delivery suite was a corner room usually not used at the time - it's better for tours and my shower light was broken. And it was a large room - and the plugs were like NOWHERE near the bed I was in. Thankfully my husband travels with extension cords (at the time he traveled a lot for his job and just grabbed that backpack) and we had some.

Snacks for after - I brought from Nature's Valley granola, crackers, etc

Long bendy straws - helpful while nursing (you need the extra length). Both in and out of the hospital.

Bobby pins and hairties!

Something relatively cute to leave the hospital in. I have a ton of photos from leaving, and I'm glad I had this purple dress on that I loved. It was just a jersey dress, but it looks nicer than sweats and those photos are my favorite.

Try and nab from the hospital:

-Mesh underwear

-Pads

-Sitz bath

-Newborn diapers, as many as you can

-Baby brush

-Baby sucky bulb thingy (I mean they scare me, but they let me have the one they gave me...soooo I took it!)

-Dermoplast

-Witch hazel pads

-Any ice packs - my hospital stopped giving them at 48 hours and I agree, it stops being really effective and the witch hazel was fine after that for me, but some people swear by getting more ice packs

-Footprints, discharge book, etc on memorabilia

Once you're home:

I'm an advocate for disposable underwear - I didn't wanna spend money on actual underwear or risk ruining my underwear - plus disposable was easy. My 'diapers' just went in the diaper pail with the babies.

Earth Mama Perineal Spray: I liked this so much better than dermoplast which just started to be too harsh. https://www.amazon.com/Earth-Mama-Perineal-Pregnancy-Postpartum/dp/B0065ZTKWS/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_121_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=MAN9247RNVFT9QETD3X6

An extra thing of Tuck's witch hazel pads - I went through what the hospital gave me quickly.

Oatmeal cookies - they help with milk production and are easy to eat while nursing a baby. Hot oatmeal is NOT easy to eat while having a baby attached lol

Was it a joke? Because... that's a good joke gift.

Yes, yes you should use it to buy yourself a nice bottle of bourbon. I agree.

Only book I got was this one: https://www.amazon.com/How-Traumatize-Your-Children-Deliberately/dp/1601063091

trying to get organized...

Got these bins off Amazon and finally putting them to use! We will see how long this system lasts (lol), but it’s making me feel a little more prepared so it’s worth it! I love that they have a clear slot for a label and they are good quality —>

I'm not sure if you or he are Star Wars fans, but there are these cute little kid books of Darth Vader with Luke and Leia. There's one specifically about each and one joint. Maybe buy the one that matches baby's gender? Boy and girl. :) They have them at Target and probably any book store.

Other than that, gendered onesies or socks!

edit: also, congratulations!!

My maternal instincts didn't kick in for so long. I felt like I hanging off the edge of a mountain and slipping a little more every day. I was numb when my first arrived, and it was just bizarre that someone handed me this thing and said I had to take care of it now.

I had a lot of problems breastfeeding. My hormones were totally trashed (which took me 6 months to discover). I cried a lot. She cried a lot. It took until 6-8 weeks, when things got better for us in terms of feeding (AKA accepting I had to supplement forever) and when she started being less of a potato. The "100 days of Darkness" were the worst.

My daughter's now 2.5. I love her to death. She's thriving and healthy, so I guess at some point my maternal instincts kicked in. I still get those days of "what is this kid doing in my house?"

But my only real advice is study up hardcore on breastfeeding (if you want to do it) -- take a class, read a book, find a support group. It really helps. Plan to attend said support group at least once a week after birth, because that's the quickest way to getting problems diagnosed. Plus, socialization. The other thing I always suggest is reading a book called Healthy Sleep Habits, Healthy Child, or a similiar sleep book. The sooner you can get a handle on sleeping, the better off everything is.

Try not to worry; if you're already worried about what kind of mom you're going to be, my bet is that you'll be a great one. :)

So for number 2 I have a solution for you, because it's only going to get worse. I got some Lock Laces (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007DLVLB6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) - They're elastic that you can replace your shoelaces with and they are amazing. My toddler can easily pull them tight for me and I don't have to bend over at all. At the end of my first pregnancy I ended up with some dansko clogs ( do not reccomend, ugh) that were a huge pain in the butt because of foot swelling.

Since this is my second time around she's up super, super high. Like where her sister was towards the very end of things. I thought it was a food baby trying to get under my ribs but nope, that's a baby butt. My ultrasound on friday confirmed that haha.

I went to a local bookstore and checked out several books. There was one that was huge and counted down the days! A bit expensive and probably overkill. I didn't pick that one, but wanted to a little. :) Didn't like the "What to Expect..." one, mainly because of the mass market format and also because the author doesn't seem to have any credentials. Instead, I went for "I'm Pregnant". So far I like it! Very non-judgmental and rational.

Here it is! Less than $10 on Amazon prime and it's been good to me so far.

These are a game changer for thong wearers!

Always Dailies Feminine Thong Liners, 42 Count - Pack of 8 (336 Total Count) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0029NYQFG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_NgWIAbT6V6PW2

ETA: sorry it's a link for the pack of 8 (it was what was on "my orders" list) 😂

Ssscat. We used this to keep our cats out of a plant and off a dresser. It works because it's not you activating it. They just learn they're going to get a puff of loud air on them if they go where they're not supposed to.
