The acceptance rate for street to seat is 90-100% currently. Those who are already enlisted are having a harder time getting selected. I went through WOCS with two nineteen year olds. Your odds are excellent right now so give it a shot!

Here is what I provided to a friend currently applying. These resources helped me tremendously. Note I was no stellar candidate. I had a very average SIFT score. I did have to do a board which you no longer have to do (that's a huge plus). Check it out.

EDIT: The civilian rates are much lower than when I was applying a year and a half a go (around 30%).

Here are a few things to make things easier while you are putting together your packet. Some things to focus on are:

I used this one. I took the SIFT towards the end of last month and got a 63. Few discrepancies in the book, but appreciated how thorough it was. If I had spent more time studying this book I would have been more than adequately prepared if that makes any sense.

Hey man, check out The Serpa Holster from Blackhawk for the M9 along with the MOLLE Adapter, using the adapter you can put it right on the vest. You can get the quick disconnect system and a belt holster so you can transfer from your vest to belt once a flight is done.

All of those can be found on Amazon:

I scored a 74/80 (~93%). Granted my major is mechanics engineering, but I wouldn’t have passed without studying. I used the following guide, and I just googled the answers to the math problems (all commonly found online):

SIFT Study Guide: Test Prep and Practice Test Questions for the Army SIFT Exam (Accepted, Inc., ISBN: 0991316509)

As others have suggested.. Read the FM, The FAA Handbook and I picked up the SIFT Study Guide by Accepted from Amazon for $28 as others have suggested elsewhere online.. See here - http://www.amazon.com/SIFT-Study-Guide-Practice-Questions/dp/1941743641/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462390257&sr=8-1&keywords=sift+study+guide

I am set to take the test Friday myself and not sure why you are being told you only have one chance, as you have 2 technically.. If you fail the first time you must wait 181 days till you can take it again. Fail twice and your out. However, if you pass with an above 40 score you can no longer take the test. What you get is what you get.. Study study study! I also found a CRAM flash cards app for my phone that you can search "Helicopter Knowledge" for the old AFAST questions that will relate to the new SIFT as well.. Any questions let me know! I'll report back if I passed.. or I won't report back at all!! hah.. :/
