>Clearly you don't currently own the Krakens or the Mixamp to answer my base question, and I never asked for a non-specialized DAC to use a completely random headset with. Also vaguely saying "syba headphone amp" doesn't tell me what product I should even be looking at.

Bold to assume I don't own those products. I do. I have tested both and the Astro mixamp and the Krakens really disappointed me, even though I already had low expectations from Astro and Razer.

And for your information, I was mentioning these. It's literally the first thing that shows up in Google.

>The headphones you linked are flat out worse specs wise in comparison lmfao.

If you honestly judge an audio product by it's specs, you yet have a lot to learn.

>I didn't ask for advice, I asked for information.

And I gave you both.

>You haven't given a single piece of information pertaining to my post whatsoever.

Yes, I did. I said that it should work fine. If it doesn't, that sucks for you but tbh that's what you get when you purchase such low-end gear, don't have high expectations.

>I didn't downvote you either, LOL

I'm sorry for assuming lol.

>For that overly sensitive and cry baby comment, you can have some more downvotes though!

You sound really mature.

You're welcome. If you want both chat and game features, just tried this out and confirmed it works, get a USB 2 port switch like this one: UGREEN USB Sharing Switch USB 2.0 Peripheral Switcher Adapter Box 2 Computer Share 1 USB Device Hub for Printer Scanner with 2 Pack USB 2.0 Male Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CU4QCRS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_fAQHDbCATR1PR

Then just plug a USB cable to both PC and PS4. When you want to switch between just hit the switch and switch on your dock.

If you look at those switches just make sure you look through reviews, you want a switch that doesn't feed power back through the unswitched device as that can fry things. Since the A50s work on both USB 2 and 3 either will work for you.

i have my astro mixamp connected to my PC and PS4 and get sound through both at the same time without having to move cables around often

I have the mixamp plugged into my PC and get sound through the USB while i have the ps4 connected to the mixamp via Aux. If i decide to play on xbox i can just move the aux cable from the ps4 to the xbox1.

As for chatting i have a Yeti mic for my pc. Since i had an old mixamp with a 2.5mm port for the 360, i bought a 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable that goes from the mixamp to the ps4 controller (bought something like this two years ago). i dont know if the newer a40 systems provide the 2.5 to 3.5mm cable or the amp still has the 2.5mm port.

I like having two separate mics because i can easily choose who i want to talk to if im on discord as well as a ps4 party at the same time. I can just mute the mic from astros with the mute toggle on the headset wire or press the mute button on the yeti.

amazon has the cable. it is marked up but if you have prime you can have free shipping. even if you used the Astro website to order the cord after shiping it would almost be the same price. here is the link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JUFXOXQ?keywords=astro%20inline%20mute%20cable&qid=1451485182&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1 and for you mic the astro mic is normally sensitive. if you believe it is to sensitive maybe buy one of those foam mic covers. but if that dont work and you want a new mic that is also on amazon. here is the link http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Astro-Replacement-Microphone-Boom/dp/B00JUFXOWM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451485434&sr=8-1&keywords=astro+a+40+mic

For this you will need:

You want the USB and optical cable from the mixamp to go to your Xbox. Configure the mixamp first with the mixamp plugged in via USB to the PC and make it so the stream port only outputs the party chat.

Once configure plug the USB back into the Xbox. Then you want a cable going from the headphone or out audio port on your PC into the aux port on the mixamp.

This will give you Xbox audio and party chat output to your capture card while also allowing you to hear PC audio.

You may have to get a ground loop isolator for the aux cable though as you may get a humming noise Mpow Ground Loop Noise Isolator... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019393MV2?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

You could get a usb adapter switch to power it on and off, similar to this; still works perfectly for my xbox since July

Astro uses one with a longer tip. If you buy a replacement, you need to look for one with a longer tip. I bought this one in 2017 and it works great:

If the static and issues are from not getting sufficient power you could use a USB Y cable like this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013LQD7Y?ie=UTF8&at=&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links)

Add a USB extender like this and you can provide additional power with the Y cable by plugging the red USB A port to your phone charger(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B3P1IGG?ie=UTF8&at=&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links)

I'm guessing since you got them off eBay that it is an A50 with a mini USB B connection and not micro USB. If it is micro then you'll need a different Y cable.

If that doesn't work then you'd need to cut up USB cables to isolate the power and data lines on separate A plugs.

SIDE NOTE: Unless your motherboard sound card supports Dolby Digital Live (most do not) your digital connection to the A50s is stereo audio, so you're not getting the full surround sound experience intended with the A50s.

This is what I bought

There is also a Western Digital My Book external drive plugged into my Xbox via usb

So far the isolator has completely suppressed the buzz on my mic. After a few tests there is a quiet buzz that’s now in the background of the recordings. (Not in my headset like it used to)

I’m trying to fiddle with it but the main problem is solved with that thing I bought

EDIT: in my computer settings I turned down the mic volume to 70 and that was enough to get rid of the buzz on the recordings. I think it’s all good now

Yes I do this at the moment. Got my a50s connected to pc, Xbox and PS4.

Get a usb switch and tos link switch. They are about £30 each for decent ones.

I have a Gen1 (maybe gen2, idk) A40 and Mixamp that Ive had since 2013.

I had the humming in my headset for a while and I tried many different configurations to get rid of the hum to no avail.

Several years ago, I built a Y-cable that went from my mixamp (miniB end) to my PC for data only (USB A end), and another USB A end for power only to plug into the wall. The trick here is that the ground must still go to all three connectors. If you don't connect the ground on the data to PC end, the PC will do some very weird stuff and not recognize the Mixamp, or it will drop out and come back up, and give USB errors.

The Y-cable I built stopped all noise. Solder splicing USB wires is very tedious due to the very small wire gauge, and using heat shrink wasn't easy since the outer insulation on the cables I bought to cut up and modify melted fairly easily, even on low heat setting on my heat gun.

I built a new system at the end of 2017, namely with a new motherboard (old motherboard was GA-Z87X-UD4H), and I moved to another home shortly afterwards. In the move, I ended up losing the Y-Cable I built. So I decided to use the Astro USB cable it comes with til I could locate the cable I built.

Come to find out that there was no buzzing in the headset with the Astro cable connected to my new system's motherboard (ASRock Fatality X399 Gaming). So I just never ended up looking for my custom cable.

I recently discovered that now there is a slight buzzing/humming in the mic output. I can't hear it, but when I've played with others online, they say they can hear it. I made a recording using OBS so I can hear the severity of the noise. When playing it back, I can hear it very clearly. Its not very loud, but it is definitely noticeable, and Id be irritated having to hear it from someone else over my speakers or headset.

Im thinking of trying an inline ground loop noise isolator for the 3.5mm to the headset that I saw on Amazon, which also has some questions and good reviews about using it with the Astro Headsets and Mixamps. https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Ground-Isolator-Stereo-System/dp/B019393MV2

If this doesnt work, then I will try a more expensive USB noise filter next.

This is the one I use for my A50's and it works perfectly it says PS4 but it works for Xbox one.

u/WhiteNexus · 1 pointr/AstroGaming

Here's a link for the inline mute cable for the TR mixamp. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01BG78B1U/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1479839682&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=astro+inline+mute+cable&dpPl=1&dpID=41Gg473tTWL&ref=plSrch

This cable connects the headset to the mixamp, it also provides the mute option. If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask me, this sub is pretty much dead, I'll help you out.

Had the same issue and bought this one. You're gonna need two HDMI cables to use it, and every once in a while you have to unplug it and plug it back in because it'll shut off the optical port in itself for some reason. Works fine, though.

It's a windscreen, they're universal. I'm talking about the little black foam ones that you just slip on over the microphone.

This is what I used on my A40 TR when I had them and currently use on my A50.

I didn't know this question would be so confusing. All I wanted to do was use regular/better headphones with the mixamp and throw my a40s away and I need to know how to also use a mic with headphones. I know I can buy an adapter like http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004SP0WAQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 but I am afraid of losing audio quality going through one and wanted to know if there was any other way to do it which does not seem to be the case.

They seem to be shipping to Canada, Newegg.ca also has it but it's only the headset, no mixamp. Maybe ebay have it?

u/gr2020 · 2 pointsr/AstroGaming

I had this issue with Gen 1's. For me, it turned out the issue was the crappy cable they include to connect the headset to the controller, or the little 2.5 to 3.5 adapter. What I ended up doing was buy this cable:

https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Force-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility/dp/B00HS5FETM

It says the cable is for PS4, but it's exactly what I used to connect between my old A50 and my controller. The echo problem was solved completely.

I know it sounds ridiculous that a cable could fix it, and of course YMMV, but it finally solved the problem for me 100% of the time.
