Sounds like you need some assistance from a trainer so that you can work on obedience. They can be expensive though so a couple simple tips that may help:

  1. Get a gentle lead like this one . Your pup will hate it at first and try to remove it. First few times you use it put it on nice and tight and let him attack it so he learns he can’t get it off. He’ll get used to it after a while.

  2. Practice with the gentle lead. The way it works is when they pull it pulls their head down. They’re very effective at facing your dog in the direction you want them instead of just yanking on a leash to pull them in a direction they aren’t facing. Walk around the yard with it, practice directing him where you want him to go. Use both hands on the leash, you’ll have better control.

  3. Get a clicker like this one and when you want to get their attention click it a few times and give him a treat. Do it frequently at first, when there are few distractions on a walk. Eventually your dog will associate the clicking sound with a tasty reward. This will help you gain his attention when he’s trying to get something he shouldn’t.

  4. Positive reinforcement will always work better than negative reinforcement. That being said, you will need methods of deterrence from time to time whenever he’s doing something he shouldn’t. I like to use compressed air like this . When he’s doing something he really shouldn’t and the clicker isn’t working to get his attention, spray him in the face with compressed air. It won’t hurt him but he won’t like it. He’ll learn that he should obey you or he gets air in the face. When he starts obeying again, praise him in a very excited voice, click the clicker a few times, and give him a treat. When using negative reinforcement always end with a reward after they obey. This way they learn that obeying is always rewarded.

I use all of these strategies with my dogs and they’ve worked very well. Be patient, keep at it, and your dog will learn. If he’s extremely willful though I highly recommend hiring a professional trainer or attending obedience classes.

Bullies are smart as whips, and not as stubborn as people like to make out. They need a firm, kind hand and lots of praise and motivation.

The best plush I have ever had for my guy has been the Tuffy Octopus. You can get other Tuffy style toys at Petsmart and Petco pretty easily but the octopus design has always held up the best. It still gets chewed up, but it is a matter of months as opposed to hours or even minutes.

Our guy had similar issues. He would break out of his kennel and scratch up his face and destroy our carpet. We ended up getting him this kennel and it was night and day. We put a comfortable bed in there and he loves it. He also knows that he can’t get out either so he doesn’t try. (He tried the first time then realized it’s too difficult to get out haha)
Whenever we leave we put on ambient noise (like a tv, or music) and i fill the black Extreme Kong up with a couple of treats and some peanut butter. If i know when I’m going to leave I’ll put it in the freezer so it lasts longer for him. Hopefully this helps or gives you some ideas. I know how frustrating it can be when you just want the best for your buddy.

TOTW is a great kibble, keep him on it. Just add a simple puppy multivitamin to his daily food. I would also maybe stop the fruits and veggies for a wee bit just until his mange clears up. Added sugar can cause extra yeast in the hair follicles and that's where the mites are. Unfortunately, there's no way to get rid of the mites, they typically live on the dog problem free, but the issue they cause is when the dogs immune system is unable to keep them in check and they start to eat the healthy hair and cells. I would suggest just taking him off the fungal shampoo, there's no need for it, since the mites are not fungus related. I would try to find a benzoyl peroxide shampoo (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00JBCGQNS?pc_redir=1404533472&robot_redir=1) and an ointment like this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000HHSIYQ/ref=pd_aw_sims_1?pi=SY115) and you should be set!

Don't know why everyone is telling you he'll be fine... BTs scar very easily and it is likely he won't grow hair in those spots. I know because mine was also rough-housed by litter mates on his feet and those scars never fully healed to grow hair. However, you can minimize the scar now by applying a balm that has Calendula as an ingredient. I used this product on mine that really helped minimize scarring: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TP0SZ6M/. He'll recover well and if you do socialize your with other dogs he'll most likely come back with a red snout and a few nicks here and there, and the balm is good for that too.

Two observations:

  1. Buy a Nylabone for powerful chewers. Your dog needs to chew: give him a safe outlet.

  2. My guess would be that the foreign objects in his digestive system were a result of chewing fixation. However, he could be suffering from pica, the compulsive eating of foreign objects. As, broadly speaking, the underlying causes are anxiety and obsessive-compulsive psychopathologies, this could be treated via fluoxetine or another SSRI prescribed by your veterinarian.

Buy a Nylabone, observe his behaviour, and investigate option 2 should giving him a safe outlet not curb his ingestion of foreign objects.
