Plates:
Here you have a choice, my advice is go with the best AMERICAN deal. Don't be lured in with import plates...yes they are cheaper but will cause issues down the line (electronics, uneven plates).

710 Snob had a deal a week back....5 x 3 plates with PID/Heaters for 280.00 shipped. They are "seconds" which in all reality means they haven't been polished. I bought a set for a friend (x-mas) and would order another at that price if they had them still. I spent a few minutes polishing one of the plates and it looks great...no need to just cosmetic. I can upload a photo if you want so you can see.

If the 710 snobs aren't on sale your build price will rise by 100 bucks unless you can find plates on sale, which may happen this time of year.

Lowtemp-plates.com

I have used or have friends that have plates from both of those companies and can say nothing but good things about them. Both will run you 380-400 shipped complete.

Just saw they are out of stock, may be worth still reaching out to them to see if they have any at that price.

Aside from that....silicone mat for your plates...temp gun for accuracy (i use a meat thermometer as the guns don't read shiny surfaces) and parchment/bags and your good to go.

You can get the build down to under 300 if you go full cheap chinese import...HF press, import plates. I would not recommend this for safety reasons first...sanity second. HF press is fine to seat a bearing once in a while but for pressing on the regular you will have issues. A thrift store flat iron and an irwin clamp is a better option.

*I have no affiliation with any of these folks.

Here is an easy way to make your own at home, half the price of the tincture you buy in the store.

First activate the THC in your bud/concentrate by heating it up. You need to decarboxylate it.

Best technique for making tincture as follows

For 1000mg Yield

Heat up 1 Gram of Co2 or BHO hash oil in a small double boiler like this to 220-240 degrees F for ~10 minutes. Use a Thermometer, do not allow it to overheat.

Mix decarboxylated hash oil with 28ml or .9oz of Food Grade Glycerin or Everclear, while slightly warm.

Use a small funnel to put the tincture in a bottle with a 1ml dropper, like [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Amber-Glass-Bottle-Dropper-Dozen/dp/B000AV15PI)

1G=1000mg = 1000mg/29.57ml or 1 fl/oz.

1ml dropper = ~35mg dose.

It is easy as that, if you have any cooking skills this should be a piece of cake.

Read this article on curing and storing your buds. (Two important things that it doesn't talk about very much is that (1)They need to be kept in 100% darkness because light degrades THC. (2)The temperature can't fluctuate very much, or your risk of growing mold increases drastically because the humidity in the air in the jar will condensate on the buds, promoting mold growth.) Essentially, you want to keep them in the glass jars at around 60% humidity using these humidity control packets. Some people use humidors, but many people will say the flavor is much better when kept in glass jars vs a humidor. To be honest, you probably don't need a mini-fridge, just keep them in a cool dark place where the temperature doesn't fluctuate too much. The glass jars I linked to are air tight. The ones with the two-part lid (like I linked to) seal better than the one piece lids. Mold should only be a problem if the humidity in the jars stays too high for too long, or your temperature fluctuates rapidly.

Airscape are the best. I learned about them while working in the coffee industry & the principle for preservation is the same, dry, dark & minimal air left in the container. I use one of these guys and fit my grinder in with my stash, I love it - http://amzn.com/B002UK0WXS

I've done some work with corded barcode readers before. Units like this. They basically plug into a USB port and mimic a keyboard. Scanning a tag (to the computer) is the same as typing the barcode in from a keyboard, so you'd probably need some sort of software or configuration to make it useful for your purpose. There are cheaper versions and from what I recall, most of these will read any standard barcode (and there are like 20 standards).

Yeah, if you can wait a couple days for delivery then this one from Amazon is the cat's fucking balls:

I bought it to weigh pipes I'm selling and got this one that measures to hundredths of a gram to mix my DIY ejuice. I'm really impressed with it.

The head shop ones are toys in comparison.

That being said, this is the best book ever written in regards to the cultivation of cannabis.

This one is pretty cheap and it's reliable once you get it set right:

It's nothing to be afraid of as long as the dial doesn't get bumped! :)

Get yourself a pack of these. Like someone else said it may be covered in mites or mold, the places might not give you masks and you don't want to breathe that stuff.

Shouldn't need to spend over $30 for a torch. This one has served me well for years: (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HT8U9M/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

I find that anything more than 4 days is too dry with our lack of humidity, unless it's been raining a lot.
I trim on chop day, hang dry for 3-4 days depending on weather, and then clip off individual buds into a mason jar. Specifically I use the wide mouth pint and a half jars.
I seal them up for an hour or two with a Caliber IV Hygrometer and if it reads over 70% RH, I'll pull them out and set them on a paper bag for an hour and try again. If it reads 63-70%, I blast the air out in front of my exhaust duct for 30 seconds, once per day. It will go down to 35% RH, but after resealing the jar, it will climb back up, usually to 1-2% less than it was before exchanging the air.
When I hit 62%, I will only exchange the air once every 3 days or so.

If I screw up and hit less than 62% after drying and jarring, I'll pretty much let it sit in its own humidity until I want to smoke it.
If I really screw up and it reads 55% or less after jarring, that's when I get spinach/hay weed.

After it's cured for a month or more, you can let the humidity go as low as you want, which usually ends up happening anyway as you open and close the jar(s) to retrieve some to smoke.

I use these

the only time I’ve had them melt is when I accidentally got some water in the mix and they dissolved on the ends
