I have a Hurtta Adventure Y-harness meant for dogs! My kitty is pretty large for his breed at nearly 6 kg (13 lbs), so a dog harness worked best. A thick Y-harness was chosen because of the seatbelt usage and because this particular one is reflective, so I only have to put a reflective vest on him when we're out in the woods during hunting season. With smaller cats I've used cat harnesses, but the ones that have only one strap on the back and none under the belly haven't really worked.

The most important thing is fit and buying one that can be adjusted around the neck. If a cat can fit their head through without adjusting, they can back out of it. The recommendation is tightening up until you can only fit two fingers under the straps.

This type has in my experience been the most escape proof. When it's tight enough it's incredibly hard to wiggle out, because it covers a large surface and it's tightened when it is already on the cat. If the band around the neck isn't adjustable, escape becomes much easier.

This type is okay and I've never had a cat escape. I have heard of escapees though. If the band under the belly moves around instead of being fixed to one spot a cat can get their paw under it a bit easier.

When I've been called to set up traps for someone's cat that has escaped from a harness, it's usually something like this or this. Bad adjustability, nothing under the belly and very easy to get on (and off).

It is this exact item: Foamily Acoustic Foam Egg Crate Panel Studio Foam Wall Panel 48" X 24" X 2.5" (2 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DB0QP8G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9I0QDbG71Q2XT

For them to work properly and more effectively I would need more of them. This is in my living room and so they are mostly just aesthetic. I have a spare bedroom that I use as a studio and that one has many more lining the walls and I think it helps when recording, but I’m certainly not a pro engineer and it may very well be a placebo, lol.

I just started using this one with my new kitten, and I love it so much! Worth every penny. My previous cat (RIP Samwise) was pretty annoying about food, and hated his life-long diet until the week he passed. I was determined not to be associated with food this time around. It’s lovely!

Not OP, but we have the PetSafe Smart Feed. Our little boy used to stomp across our bodies at 6 in the morning every day until we woke up and fed him. Getting the automatic feeder completely changed that and the only time he wakes us up anymore is by accident when he’s trying to snuggle up with us.

I love this one, but for 95% of people the price and feature set doesn’t really make any sense. Just search for automatic feeder and you’ll find a lot of options.

It is called: Mynwood Cat Jacket/Harness Black Adult Cat - Escape Proof by Mynwood Cat Jacket

You can find this particular harness here: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00UU1EXB6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The "Escape Proof" part sold me, hahaha...

I have also heard good things about the Kitty Holster (http://www.kittyholster.com/) which is made in the USA.

Too cute!! The Cat Dancer Toy is basically a guitar string with little rolled up pieces of cardboard. My cats go absolutely apeshit for it cuz it resembles the spazzy flight of flies.

i’m not OP but theirs reminds me of the one i bought for my cat: TSA Fast Pass Leash Harness

It's a slow feeder/puzzle feeder
If he eats out of a normal bowl, he inhales his food in .5 seconds and immediately throws it back up.

Ugh, ours did that so we purchased a timed feeder. It popped open around 4:30am, problem solved. It also had the added benefit for when we went to 100% wet food, we could stretch out the feedings before our sitter needed to come by when we were out of town.

It’s an automatic feeder that we had to get in order to get her to stop waking us up in the morning by yelling and pawing at our faces.

I’ve accepted that my one cat is going to be perma-fat, because if I tried to ration her food she would 100% eat me in the night, after destroying the entire house

(However! My other cat really trimmed down just by getting one of these )
