I install small risers on my consoles just like on my PC. I recommend cleaning out your console very well with a can of air, if you feel comfortable open it up and give it a good clean. Then install these adhesive risers to the console it lifts the console up a small amount to prevent sucking in dust that settles wherever your console is.

I feel like it’s a cheap and easy thing to do and I don’t have issues with any of my consoles.

I bought and recommend the Seagate 8TB USB3.0 external drive (it’s currently $134 from Amazon)... it’s far more than anyone could possibly need this generation. I could be imagining it, but it seems like games installed on it run faster than the Pro’s internal 1TB. I bought it because a gamestop clerk was telling me that she personally uses a single external HD for both her PS4 and XBOX One as she was ringing up my XB1X purchase. I dunno why she’d make that claim, and we definitely weren’t talking about saving music/movies. I could have just bought a 4TB for each console and had plenty of room.

With the 8TB, there’s 7.35TB free space available with nothing installed. I’m got 515 games installed on it right now, and I’m still only 5.64TB/7.35TB. I’m even installing every PS+ game and shit I’ll never, ever play just to see if I could possibly fill it up before next generation. And then I have 381GB/861.4GB of my internal filled almost entirely with screenshots and video clips.

My advice for anyone looking at buying an external — 4TB is more than enough for this generation but the next generation of games will be larger so it can’t hurt to buy a large one. It’s nice to have every game you own installed at once, but you’re probably only bouncing between playing a handful at a time. I expect the USB3.0 standard will be the same on the PS5 so for the extra $55 you can double the 4TB to 8TB and carry over all your PS4 games AND have room for PS5 games as well*, and then only use the PS5’s internal SSD** for games you’re actively playing as your primaries.
