I have these bamboo ones!
Highly recommend switching :)
EDIT this comment started a huge conversation! I’m so proud! Thank everyone for the positive feedback and bonus points to those who said they were switching! Let’s help the planet!
I don't actually know why sorry. If I could find my copy of this I could maybe say:

Best guess it has something to do with the arrangement of our eyes, but that's entirely my guess, and not a very educated one.
Good/quality design is making sure that as many aspects of a design as possible at least look intentional. In Modern/Swiss design (what most design today is based off of) this means keeping spacing/line-weights consistent, either the same, or from some sort of set/sequence. Keeping all of your horizontal lines, in the figure and the implied lines between, the same is very pleasing to the eye, and generally "looks better".
At the moment the thin slash through the middle is different enough from all the other white-spaces that it should maybe be a bit wider, though the designer should take care of that after dealing the the cross-bar on the A, just in case it's just that comparison that looks off.
Does that help?
Sixties Design A fun romp through the sixties curvy day glow design bent
Eames: Beautiful DetailsDefinitive Eames Book.
Industrial Design Raymond Loewy My favorite all time designer.
Infrastructure by Brian Hayes Not Sexy, but necessary.
Industrial Design A-Z, Taschen Everything by the letters.
PreFab HousesGood, if dated a little on prefab potential
1000 Chairs Bible of chairs
Things Come Apart They destroyed it beautifully for you
Trespass Street Art photographed and credited
Type Vol. 2 The Taschen site-order version comes with a digital code for Hi-Res digital downloads of each plate. Not sure if the amazon version does. Still worth it either way.
D&AD 11 All the D&AD books are a real tight look at that years best and worst commercial work.
Logo Design 2 I'm sure this has been updated, but good enough and much cheaper now.
DDR Design I have a soft spot for bolshevik propaganda forced into design.
1000 Retail Graphics It is what it says it is, not much more. Good for brainstorming, but not really inspiring.

I did not see books 4-6 in paperback
The author is Edward Gibbon
This set is no longer accepted as reliable source materials. (apparently some "facts" are just made up)
I recommend books from Peter Connolly they are well done and approachable with a lot of great illustrations.

If you want to be in the middle these ones are amazing and made by a really solid brand. I use them for all my cross stitching and they’re really nice and sharp.
It takes special balls, and laziness to shamelessly copy a multi-award winning campaign of the top brand in your category. For God'sake, there's even an Absolut book with hundreds of such ads.
You might like this [book] (https://www.amazon.com/G%C3%B6del-Escher-Bach-Eternal-Golden/dp/0465026567)...Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid, the cover has an even better whatever you call that effect/illusion.
If anyone wants to know how we got where we are today, read Tom Wolfe's From Bauhaus To Our House. Great book that lays out the story of how modernism came to dominate architecture.
Very popular design.

If you’ve never burgled before here’s some guidelines
I’ve never robbed a house because I was just lucky enough to be born into a beneficial economic situation. You gotta understand the psychology of a burglar. While your scenario is possible, dogs are still great preventive measures and a burglar can know you have a dog and leave because they don’t want to die. They’ll hear the dog definitely before they hear you and coupled with the fact have no idea you have a gun and they’re going to have to make a flight or fight response when they see you in the house. Not good for a homeowner. Consider evidence that guns don’t prevent crime, in fact they sometimes increase crime and that most burglars want cash, not to kick down your door just to cap your dog. I also recommend the book How To Make Money On Your Spare Time.
