For a second, I thought Forst was a guitar company I had never heard of :P
I can give you my experience. Earlier in the year I bought a Kiesel AM8 (shameless plug), and I recently just got it set up by a local luthier for a drop E tuning (all standard except the lowest string, which is an E instead of an F#) with these strings. It has a scale length of 26" on the treble side, and 27-1/2" on the bass side.
I won't speak on the guitar itself (spoiler: I absolutely love it), but rather my experience jumping from a six to an eight string guitar. I am so glad I went with a multiscale guitar. The entire idea of an eight string guitar is pretty extreme, and at drop-E I have a 27-1/2" string trying to do the exact same job as a low E on a bass, which is somewhere around a 35" scale length. On the other hand, you can't go too big with your high strings without sacrificing timbre and all that. You'll see a lot of guitars that try to compromise with a 27" or so scale length, and while the idea makes me squirm a little bit, it's certainly not impossible to work with. Neither Meshuggah, Periphery, nor the bulk of Tosin Abasi's music use multiscale guitars on their 8's (well, the new Meshuggah guy does, but that guitar is weird).
As for tension and string gauge, that calculator already posted is a great resource. It's just a way to get as close as possible to the most efficient circumstance with regards to the physics of your guitar. It makes it much easier to have a more consistent tuning and sound.
Aside from that, I would definitely recommend locking tuners, and some Fishman Fluence pickups. The rest is up to you :)
I don't really like IEMs, but if you're looking for some cans, I really like the Superlux HD668B - they're pretty precise and neutral, which are important for metal IMO:

The Koss PortaPros are pretty okay for the price if a little bass heavy. Build quality has gotten worse over the years but they do have a lifetime warranty:

I like Audio Technica's stuff for metal as well, but definitely a little more pricey. Nolly has mixed some of the Periphery stuff as well as AAL's Joy of Motion on ATH-50's, which is my main pair of headphones atm.
I've got some Ultrasone HFi-780s. I love them so much. If you are looking for purely neutral these aren't the ones you want but I've found them insanely good for modern metal/djent particularly the low-end reproduction (and orchestral stuff if you're interested because I love the depth they have). They took a while to break in as far as some sibilance in the high end but once they mellowed out a bit I loved them even more. I'd say they are worth a look.

That's a good starting guide to get the djent tone. If you don't have the analogue effects I'd suggest looking into getting Guitar Rig 5 (or other free guitar effects processing programs http://guitarix.org/ ). The signal chain I use is: Guitar -> tube screamer -> EQ -> Noise gate -> amp. If you want to get a sound like After The Burial use two noise gates.
Here's another video that might explain it better:

I actually have a pretty weird live setup. My guitar is an [Ibanez S470](http://ibanez.wikia.com/wiki/S470_(1992%E2%80%931999,_Japan) made in 1993 with Seymour Duncan Blackout pickups in the neck and bridge. I took out the middle single coil because I never use it. Active pickups will give you a ton of drive with minimal noise which is what you want when playing djent. I'm not a fan of EMG's active pickups, but Seymour Duncan does it really well. I'm not sure how well the stock pickups on your RG8 will do, you might want to consider changing them to a higher output option. It doesn't necessarily have to be an active pickup either, my Ibanez S7321 has a DiMarzio X2N in the bridge and it works nicely.
The amp I use is a 1978 Fender Twin Reverb Silverface combo with 2x10 speakers. For that year Fender used their bass speakers in the guitar cab, so it handles lower tunings and 7 string/extended range guitars amazingly. Down side of using this amp is there is not distortion. I use an Ibanez TS9 tube streamer -> Metal Muff by electro-harmonix -> Boss Equalizer GE-7 -> Boss Noise Suppressor NS-2. I set my amp up on the reverb channel, but with no reverb cause it uses and extra tube on that channel versus the clean one, and the tone nobs to about 5-6-3.
Ultimately it doesn't matter too much whether you have the "best" gear or not, make do with what you have, but definitely pick up a tube screamer and a noise suppressor. I would look into the ISP Noise Decimator instead of the cheaper Boss NS-2.
You will want to grab an overdrive pedal. Misha puts one in the front of the amp, and he cranks the volume, and drops the gain. Here's a video where Misha is demoing his pedal, but you can get a good sense of how to use the tone. If youi want a decent, cheap pedal check out this Joyo.
If you're using a modeler, you can find a number of his presets out there (in particular, he shares a lot of the tones for his Axe FX).
Get a set of 12s (Ernie Ball https://www.amazon.com/Ernie-Ball-Slinky-Nickel-Wound/dp/B0002E1J3Q/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1ROFRGSOZ8V1P&keywords=ernie+ball+not+even+slinky&qid=1555719375&s=gateway&sprefix=ernie+ball+not+even%2Caps%2C147&sr=8-2 )
Then, you can choose an 8 string set with a .74, which i recommend the GHS 13-74 (you could use this single set, but the higher 6 strings would be super tense), or the Ernie Ball 8 string.

I'll definitely second, Ever Forthright and Cloudkicker (Cloudkicker is probably my favorite musician, Ben Sharp, ever.)
Some of that probably isn't Djent technically speaking, but our tastes seem to be verrry similar, so I put some stuff I thought you'd really enjoy in order from CHECK THIS OUT, to check this out.
edit: for the most part, Textures and Ever Forthright are the only bands I listed with vocals.
I actually just tuned to drop F# on mine.
This is the string set I got, left off the high .010
27" scale. Tension is on the tighter end for me, but I play a lot of stuff tuned down to E as well, and honestly I prefer more tension for djentier stuff, can pick harder and get that snappy/sharper sound.
Concealing Fate was released by itself. I bought it before knowing One would have all of it plus more. Oh well, it was cheap and is a nice collector's piece.
I can't imagine it's particularly hard. Find something long and stick-like with a reasonable amount of strength. Get yourself a tuner, a nut, a bridge and a pickup and something to wire the pickup in. Use a heavy gauge string, like .80+.
It's the sort of thing you just have to kinda put together yourself and see how it goes, because each thing would be different.
I used these in my 7 string tuned to F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Gb, F, Bb.

They sound fantastic. I have a coil split tone knob too for jangle sounds.
By far my favorite on the cheap:

I ended up purchasing it via Amazon mp3 myself (this was about 3 years ago). Here's the link via Amazon. Unless it isn't available in your country.
Also, if you haven't already checked it out, look at John Browne's Flux Conduct - Qatsi; it's in the same vein but with more of his straight forward ideas and some new ones you might have not heard yet.
Hope this helps in some way!
I bought the Agile Intercepter for under $400. Just pop some Barenuckle Aftermaths in there, and you'll be shreddin' like a mug.
Mum says they were from Amazon, so I guess this is where she got it.
you can at least hear a 30 second preview on [amazon uk](
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Periphery-Iii-Select-Difficulty/dp/B01FNCF3R4/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1463950353&sr=8-9&keywords=periphery)
Not a full album, it's 3 tracks long but you can buy it here in digital format (it was never released in physical format): http://www.amazon.com/This-Life-Is-All-Have/dp/B00CEII49A
Or alternatively it was recently uploaded to kickass.to if torrents are your thing.
