Board: pinky4.

Thanks u/InfiniteBlackAce for the inspiration and the pointers to the cables.
Thanks to u/Littlekeyboards for the great customer support.

I am still typing at turtle speed. Ortholinear and split are fine, mostly getting used to having arrows on a layer (thus vimifying my OS environment).
Still undecided about choc or cherry switches for the bottom row. For now trying both, and I will judge in a couple of weeks which I like the most.

For anyone curious, here is the link for the keyboard and vertical mouse.

The MD650L case is aluminium and really well built. It feels very solid and there's no flex at all. It also comes with very nice braided cables. The keycaps are ABS dye-subbed and have a DSA like profile.

It comes with Cherry ML switches and stock, they live up to their reputation of often times binding and sticking on the way down. There were often some missed keystrokes because of the binding.

I wound up lubing the stems with some krytox (in the laziest way possible; by just painting the sides of the stem with lube) and that helped quite a bit. Over time, as the switches have broken in, the switches start to feel substantially better. But it is a heck of a long break in time.

Would I recommend this keyboard? Ah...well...I've grown to love mine, but stock is a little tough to give a strong recommendation to. If you wanted an off the shelf, split keyboard that had a relatively small footprint, I would probably suggest Mistel's other keyboard, the Barocco, a 60% with Cherry MX switches. (Note: I have not tried the Barocco and I believe the case is made from plastic.)

Let me know if you have any other questions regarding this keyboard!

Beautiful work! The negative typing angle on this case is so interesting!

I've picked 2 colors out of the options offered on this Amazon listing for a few boards and they have been super thicc and good feeling:

I usually go with DSA/XDA, and tend to prefer the latter. But XDA are tougher to find.

If you're cool with blanks, I found a nice looking, cheaply priced set on Amazon recently that fits an XD75.
Looks like that would be enough to cover this setup.

Agree with the other comments to not pinch your rests. However, resting your palms on something other than the desk when not typing is good, IMO. I bought two of these mouse rests for my Lily58 at work and found the curve fits my palm perfectly, plus helps me get back to proper home row position: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DF83HK7.

I used to use these for my iris and they worked pretty well. I just cut them down to fit the iris profile. https://www.amazon.com/Grifiti-Massdrop-Ergodox-Infinity-Keyboard/dp/B01HQXD5OG

Now I'm using jellbows, though, to better show off some rgb underglow I added.

Batteries, complexity and it's a bit of a mess to onboard honestly. It's not that it's not doable, it's just a bit Janky!

Did some digging and you can use a keyboard with that attachment! For 10$ even :P

yep. blue hat: Blue Hat 1U DSA Blank Printed Keycaps PBT Keycaps for Mechanical MX Switches Mechanical Keyboard (Gray) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SKMYR54/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_nXcVDb9BT8WXG

I had the exact same thought, and if I wasn't itching so bad to get some time on this keyboard, I'd have waited the 2 days for Amazon tomdeliver another set/color... but now my "cheap" key caps, have cost me $40 already, and now I'm not satisfied because the profiles are different...lol.

Right now I am using wires out of Ethernet cables but I am planning on getting a box of these: wire
